2 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2008 Ford F-250

Failure Date: 10/15/2010

Three months after purchase of a 2008 F-250 Ford heavy duty truck, I noticed the brakes squeaking. On 4 occasions I have taken the truck for service to check for the cause of this problem. The first 3 times at the same dealership I was told that the squeak was caused by "road debris", and that nothing could be done to prevent this from recurring. ( the dealership cleaned the brake pads). On the forth occasion, the dealership reported that the brakes were fine and had 60 % capacity. This occurred on 8/3/2010. October 15, 2010 the squeaking was so loud, we took it to a third dealership where it was found that the rear brakes were severely worn and rusted. It required a sledge hammer to remove them due to the amount of corrosion that had built up. The front brakes were fine. Our concern is that there is/was a defect in the rear brakes and that this is a safety issue, since we pull a heavy trailer. We have kept the parts for further inspection at our residence. I have contacted the Ford customer care line who recommended this site. And who offered no further assistance with this problem, including how to prevent further problems.

3 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2003 Ford F-250

Failure Date: 04/19/2010

I own a 2003 Ford f250 7. 3 liter diesel pickup. On inspection, required by PA law for safety reasons, it failed because of rotor rust. I then had to replace all four brakes and rotors at a considerable cost to me. . The truck had 33,309 miles on it and was stored and used similar to three other older vehicles I owned the same thing occurred on this truck at 19,750 miles when it was 3 years old. The earlier rust issue was covered under warranty. Rusting brake pads are unacceptable in today's world. I have never had this type of problem in the past and suspect Ford is using sub standard steel. Other parts on this truck have rusted out and I will enter separate reports on those problems.

11 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2002 Ford F-250

Failure Date: 12/12/2001

Unable to stop in a reasonable distance. While applying brakes and steadily applying more pressure to increase rate of decent, I get a hard pedal that you can't push any harder even with both feet. Brakes will not apply enough pressure to activate the abs even on wet pavement, only on gravel or snow. I have paperwork from Ford stating they have had a number of complaints and are "aware of the saftey concern" but are "unable to fix. " Fords teck line advised technition to "replace parts untill concern is fixed. " I've been to 4 dealers. They have replaced the powerbooster and put aftermarket pads on the front with no effect. When I inquired about the lemmon law after several return trips to the dealer, they now say it's a "percieved problem", and print on the paperwork "no concerns noticed. " at the last trip to the dealer the tech. Said he "saw what I was talking about and test drove a new truck to compare but said it was the same way. That means to me that they are still building these trucks even though they've failed to fix the problem. I first returned the truck with 3000 miles. I now have 36,000 and still no brakes. I'm afraid to drive it with a load. Someone from nhsta or someone independent of Ford needs to test drive this truck. Please respond. Ford refuses to do anything.
