Failure Date: 09/19/2025

Ford diesel 250 flat out stalled while driving on a very congested highway. Full tank of diesel. No warning. Complete stall at 65mph, no brakes, no power steering, no lights. Was almost killed when the truck almost crashed into a bus. Happened (4) more times as we made our way back home. Internet search shows that Ford motor company is fully aware of this common failure of their fuel system. Federal regulators need to pressure Ford for a recall before someone is killed.

2 Service Brakes problem of the 2023 Ford F-250

Failure Date: 09/16/2025

On September 16, 2025, while driving my 2023 Ford F-250 super duty at approximately 65 mph with cruise control engaged, I pressed the brake pedal to disengage cruise. The cruise control did not disengage. I pressed the brake pedal harder, but the truck did not slow down and maintained speed. There was no abs activation sound or sensation, and no skid marks were left on the roadway. I struck the rear of a tractor trailer because the vehicle failed to slow down or cancel cruise control. In addition, the airbags did not deploy during the collision. This appears to be a failure of the brake pedal input/cruise disengagement system, braking system, and potentially the airbag system. This is a severe safety defect that could result in serious injury or death.

7 Service Brakes problem of the 2025 Ford F-250

Failure Date: 05/15/2025

I purchased a brand-new 2025 Ford F-250 super duty on April 1, 2025. The truck has an intermittent and ongoing issue where the dashboard displays “park brake limited function” or “park brake service required. ” I took the vehicle to the authorized Ford dealer, but they told me the problem cannot be repaired. However, when I contacted Ford corporate customer service, they claimed the issue is known and can be repaired, and referred me to safety department complain this contradiction between Ford and the dealer is unacceptable. The issue affects the functionality and safety of the vehicle, and it remains unresolved. I request that NHTSA investigate this issue and pressure Ford to provide a consistent, repairable solution.

10 Service Brakes problem of the 2024 Ford F-250

Failure Date: 10/27/2024

Automatic emergency braking engaged while the vehicle was in neutral tow. Resulted in 2 rear blown tires and damaged rims on vehicle. Attached the f250 correctly to the motorhome and confirmed truck was in neutral tow. Starting pulling the f250 and confirmed by looking at mirrors on the motorhome and rear camera that the wheels on the f250 were rolling both front axel and rear axel. After several blocks felt a hard tug while driving the motorhome, looked in the side mirror and rear camera and noticed smoke coming from rear tires. We pulled over on highway and stopped towing the vehicle. Went back to truck open the driver door and the dash was reading vehicle was still in neutral tow. Called a tow truck. The f250 truck was towed to the moss Ford dealership. Ford dealership never neutral towed the f250 so they were unable to recreate the situation. However we had computer data on the f250 dating back to before the truck was delivered after manufacturing relating to brake issues. The emergency brakes engages when we are driving it and comes on after stopping on a hill or after we tow a trailer. We have had this f250 into the dealership for brake warranty issues before we started to neutral tow the f250. We had neutral tow this truck over 1500 miles before this incident. We continued on our trip and currently in chula vista CA. Neutral tow the f250 all the way. However the Ford instructions on how to set up neutral tow does not tell you disable automated emergency braking system or disable the front collision warning system.

12 Service Brakes problem of the 2022 Ford F-250

Failure Date: 08/29/2024

Trailer brakes on my ram worked great on my RV trailer. Just traded it in on this truck and no trailer brakes. Message comes up saying brake controller fault. It's hard to stop a 8000# trailer in a emergecncy stopping situation. Local dealer checked my truck and couldn't say for sure what the problem is. They thought it was the brake module but they where on back order and I would be number 61 to get one. Certain year and model as mine are on recall but mine is not. I did a lot of reserch and Ford defintely has a problem with trailer brake controllers.

13 Service Brakes problem of the 2023 Ford F-250

Failure Date: 02/09/2024

During the 1st 20 min or so of operation the truck tries to "high idle" when in gear. This forces the operator use excessive brake pressure to keep the vehicle stopped. There have been several times my leg gets tired of holding the brake pedal down so hard the truck will creep forward unintentionally. The brakes grunt due to excessive force trying to keep the truck stopped. The dealer blows it off as normal, saying the truck is doing what its supposed to. I don't think the truck should be allowed to high idle in gear. I am afraid that I am going to accidently roll forward and hit someone. I have driven other 3/4 ton trucks and the Ford 7. 3 engine this is the only one that does this. I called Ford and they said there is nothing to do if the dealership says the truck is operating properly.

14 Service Brakes problem of the 2016 Ford F-250

Failure Date: 02/04/2024

Vehicle has 44,000 miles, has never been wrecked in any way. Recently the advance trac system began displaying a fault at random. The light would come and go. At the time the fault light was active the turn signals did not operate normally. A message noted to service advance trac system. ( which is related to the abs) I noticed, once, the abs activate momentarily for no apparent reason. I narrowed the fault down to the steering wheel angle sensor. I had a Ford service center confirm the issue was the steering angle sensor. The sensor was on a backorder. I called around and other dealers confirmed. A week later while entering a cloverleaf and slowing down the system faulted, illuminated the error, and the abs activated. The brake system applied brakes unevenly pulling the vehicle to the left then right and aggressively slowing down without driver brake input. I had to fight to control the vehicle to prevent losing control or get rear ended. The roads were clean, dry, and it was daylight. Upon that I could see the complete loss of steering wheel angle sensor input. The dash can show this readout. Without the steering wheel angle input the system, which is to prevent accidents, nearly caused one. I tried turning off the advance trac via the traction control button, this was ineffective. I had to remove the abs pump fuse to get home safely. This system should not in any way be able to cause this severe loss of vehicle control simply due to the loss of one sensor. This is absolute unsafe software protocall. Attatched are images of the sensor reading then no place holder for it when it does not read.

16 Service Brakes problem of the 2023 Ford F-250

Failure Date: 11/10/2023

There hasn't been an incident per say and these might not be a safety concern. However I would like to list my grievances here just so there's documentation. My radio has some type of glitch where the phone calls get static like its digital, also the mirrors don't fold in all the time when locked with the key fob, the brakes have squeaked since day 1 and the grab handle in the tailgate just slides right out when the steps are pulled out. Again I don't think this really qualifies for dangerous.

17 Service Brakes problem of the 2002 Ford F-250

18 Service Brakes problem of the 2023 Ford F-250

Failure Date: 11/01/2023

The first time I drove the truck was in stop-and-go traffic. I was behind a semi-truck that was slow rolling in traffic at four miles an hour with a forty-foot gap. I never felt as if the brakes should need to be applied. My new truck began slamming on the brakes for no reason, bringing me to a complete stop. This continued for several miles this was and is very dangerous the car behind me almost rear-ended me every time this happened. I have turned this option off this should be removed from vehicles until it is perfected.

23 Service Brakes problem of the 2023 Ford F-250

Failure Date: 09/08/2023

Front emergency break assistance over sensitive. Have had multiple occasions where the vehicle has locked up in a turn at a busy intersection. It has locked up only while turning left 3 times in intersections and now is doing it in fast food drive through 2 times. I now have it shut off for ky safety. Since the last time I was almost t-boned. Have not been able to bring to dealer yet.

24 Service Brakes problem of the 2023 Ford F-250

Failure Date: 07/13/2023

My new 2023 f250 super duty had approximately 540 miles when I received following messages: 1) pre-collision assist not available 2) service advance trac 3) abc or abs not working Ford service did a diagnosis and ordered and put in steering control module. Fixed codes for about 1000 miles and codes have come back. Ford service diagnosis on two more separate occasions has not found the problem and codes still exist. Ford service wants to do harness lay over and replace two major harness and do not know if this will fix the issue. I do not want a brand new truck dissected. Major safety issue if brakes activate at normal and/or highway speeds!!!!!!.

25 Service Brakes problem of the 2021 Ford F-250

Failure Date: 04/14/2023

During towing of 10,000lb trailer, the trailer brakes cut out during heavy braking and the dash displayed "wiring fault". Also, sometimes during normal braking, the trailer brakes will cut in and out, if you watch the gain meter during these episodes, the gain meter will also cut in and out. My and my families safety was definitely put at risk and now we were fully dependent on only the truck brakes to stop our vehicle and trailer. The dealer checked the vehicle on 5/9/23 and say there is nothing wrong with the truck. There is an active safety recall (22s17) covering trailer brake controllers for super duty vehicles, however, it seems to be limited to model year 2022, even though my vehicle was built at the same plant during the same time period covering this recall. I intend to have the dealer perform the required repair at my expense, and hopefully this recall will be expanded to cover my model year. This is a very dangerous situation.

26 Service Brakes problem of the 2011 Ford F-250

Failure Date: 03/07/2023

The brake lines located above the fuel tank rub and burst. This seems to be a very common issue related to a poor design. Ford will not discuss the issue when questioned about it.

The contact owns a 2008 Ford F-250. The contact stated while driving 25 mph and making a left turn, the brake pedal was depressed but failed to respond and went to the floorboard. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact stood on the brake pedal and the vehicle stopped. The contact was able to pull into a parking lot at a low speed. The contact stated that upon restarting the vehicle, the brake pedal responded as needed while driving to his residence. Upon investigating the failure, the contact became aware of NHTSA campaign number: 19v904000 (service brakes, hydraulic). The contact repaired the vehicle. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the vehicle was not under recall. The failure mileage was approximately 179,000.

29 Service Brakes problem of the 2022 Ford F-250

Failure Date: 12/15/2022

"trailer wiring fault" is the warning message on my information display on my Ford F-250 super duty truck. The warning message appears when I have a trailer attached to my truck. When applying the brakes, the trailer brakes go on and off causing the truck to jerk wildly. The 5th wheel trailer has been in the shop 3 different times trying to find a problem with the trailer but have not found any braking problems since they pulled the trailer with another truck and had no braking issues. Ford dealers have seen the vehicle twice now and say they plugged in an instrument and do not see any problems. Ford had a recall for f-150 trailer brake controller but not for the F-250 back in April of 2022. It seems to be a possible software problem. I have to pull a trailer but I am afraid it will cause an accident. Any suggestions on what to do next.

While driving the vehicle out of the garage the brakes locked up. The vehicle would travel only a couple feet in forward or reverse before it came to a halt. The vehicle needed to be towed to the dealership. Had this vehicle been on a highway the failure of the braking system causing it to come to halt could have caused a catastrophic accident.

34 Service Brakes problem of the 2020 Ford F-250

Failure Date: 05/15/2022

The components in questions is transmission. My sister had borrowed my truck. She put the truck in park and walked back inside to grab an item. Her dog ran out of the house and at that moment she realized the truck was rolling forward. Luckily they was a passenger in the passenger seat that was quick to act and climbed over the middle console and pressed on the brake. There is a video of the insistent. The passenger then confirmed the truck was in park and moved the selector to reverse then park then reverse and park again. Please note the truck was on relatively flat ground. Not a huge incline hill. The truck could have killed the dog or even ran over my sister in her pursuit to get her dog away from the truck. They problem was attempted to be recreated at the moment of the incident but wasn’t retractable at the time. I will be checking it every time I drive the truck from hear on. No one was hurt so a report wasn’t filed with the police nor was it taken to the dealer for inspection. There was no warning lights illuminated at the time. However the gear selector did show park. I’m unable to upload the video just segments of the video. There is a full video.

The driver attempted to manually turn off the cruise control from the steering wheel but it did not work. The contact attempted to depressed on the brake pedal which went all the way to the floor and and take the key out of the ignition to turn off the vehicle but the vehicle still was running and accelerated in speed which cause the vehicle to crash and hit rear end of the vehicle in front of their vehicle. The vehicle was finally able stop once it and went into a guard rail. The front driver side tire and door was ripped off the the vehicle. The air bags did deployed.
