2 Brake Disc problem of the 2000 Ford F-250

Failure Date: 06/23/2001

Brakes first was having problems at approx 15,000 miles the rotors had went out. Fallon Ford supposely turned the rotors and put new pads on. At approx. 28,000 miles lithia turned the rotors and put new pads on, stating that fallon never did that, then later on the brakes still acting up pulling right. Lithia put on a new master cylinder, lithia also had the alighment problem so they had shimms put in. Lithia relplaced the electronic cluster twice. When taken in a gain for chattering lithia said there was nothing wrong with the brakes, they also said because it was out of warranty they would not work on it with out being paid. Jones west Ford reviewed all of the paper work and seeing that it met the lemon law they refused to work on it. Letter was written to the ceo of Ford, who said they could not do anything because the trunk is used for business. The district rep that came to lithia said they could not replace the truck because lithia was not a Ford/truck dealer ship that the truck should be replaced, litha since has refused to work on the truck, fallon refuses to replace the truck. Now the brakes have completely failed. We took it in to a goodyear shop who said when we had the electrical failure the abs box and the porportioning valve should have been replace and is what probably was what caused this problem.

3 Brake Disc problem of the 1999 Ford F-250

Failure Date: 12/04/2000

On 7/12/2000 I took the truck to the dealer because of severe vibration when braking from highway speed. At that time the dealer turned the rotors because they were warped. Now 6 months later the problem has re-occurred. Given the information I have found on the internet regarding simular problems from other owners, it can only be concluded that this is a design defect. However, at this time, both the manufacturer and dealer refuse to adequately address the problem.

4 Brake Disc problem of the 2000 Ford F-250

Failure Date: 09/01/2000

We first had the front brakes pull right we had the truck in 2-3 times for that problem they finally fixed it. But now the brakes pull left. They do not know how to fix the problem. The engine/electrial problem. All of the sudden everything electical quits working. I didn't know how to classify this problem. They replace a module and it still happens. We are awaiting for them to fix again. On the tires one blew out in the middle of the night on a very dark road 1 mile from the house my husbad drove it home took it in the next day and the refused to fix because he drove on it. Approx a month later we were on a road driving only approx 45 mph. My husband felt something when we were at a light,we pulled in to a store just passed the light got out and the back right tire had blown. We changed the tire took it in and they said they are not on a recall even through they clearly had the white ring all around the tire where it had come apart. We replaced the tires with cooper tires. We still have the tires. Goodyear inspected and agreed it was due to poor manufacturing. On the warranty problems we contacted the manufacture arbitration board. They stated since we use the truck for business we can not have the truck replaced. No where in any of my documentation states that. If this were so we would not have bought the truck. The dealership knew we used the truck for business. The business consist of a handyman business. The most we do to the truck is put on miles. (dot number: vnw81xl tiresize: 265 75r16).

7 Brake Disc problem of the 1999 Ford F-250

Failure Date: 02/28/2000

At about every 7000 mile increments my brakes begin to exhibit "brake shudder" a vibration that occurs when the brakes are applied. Not until I was able to obtain a technical service bulliten and show my Ford dealer was I able to get the problem resolved. Followng is the technical service bulletin: some 1999-2000 super duty f-series and 2000 excursions may exhibit brake vibration or shudder while braking. Engineering has released a new brake pad (p/n f81z-2001-ea), which is equipped with a "v-spring. " the v-spring keeps the brake pad off the rotor, which increases brake pad life and decreases brake shudder and noise. When replacing these brake pad use the pro-cut brake lathe to machine the rotors on the vehicle to a lateral run-out of . 001" or less. Besides the shudder the thing that concerns me the most is the vehicle starts to pull to left or right when I apply the brakes. Thank you for you consideration on this issue. L.

Will not steer when hard or emergency braking, or at stand still, Ford states it is normal operating condition and no repair action. Special service messages 12995. This is dangerous and something should be done about repairs, the complaint is wide spread. 13 Brake Disc problem of the 1999 Ford F-250

Failure Date: 01/01/1999

The front end of the vehicle begins to shudder when braking at freeway speeds (60-65mph and sometimes less). In January of '99 the front rotors had to be turned to correct the problem temporarily. The problem returned again and the rotors had to be turned a second time in October of '99. The truck only has about 17k miles. The shuddering has the potential of causing an accident or pemature failure of not only the brake parts but also the front end components.

15 Brake Disc problem of the 1998 Ford F-250

Failure Date: 11/20/1998

Have had 4 failures in the rear suspension system. First time, the traction bars were making a horrible metal-metal creaking/grinding noise; traction bars were replaced. Second time the entire bracket bolted to the frame came loose, sliding and banging around on the frame; tractions bars, traction bar brackets, and traction bar bolts all replaced. Third time air spring (air ride suspension) leaked down and caused the truck to pull to one side (truck was not level; driver's side rear rode very low, passenger side front rode very high); air spring was replaced. Fourth time the traction bar (passenger side) broke; service center not open, plan on taking it in tomorrow. Rear window seal has been 'fixed' twice, yet continues to leak water into the cab, last time shorting out some aftermarket electronics behind the rear seat. Braking at highway speed (50-75) results in a front-end vibration, rotors were turned by the dealer recently due to a front disc brake problem that resulted in the inside pad wearing down to bare metal and much grinding (wear indicators are on the outside pad and were not engaged (squeaking); so they were not indicating pads needed replacement). The other side pads were worn non-parallel to the pad backing (pad was thicker on one edge than the other).

18 Brake Disc problem of the 1998 Ford F-250

Failure Date: 04/01/1998

When brakes are applied, brakes lock and release resulting in failure of vehicle to stop. When brakes are applied quickly, pedal goes to floor and brakes fail. When traveling over a bumpy surface, if brakes are applied, they fail. If driving on extremely wet roads and brakes are applied, they fail to work properly. Brakes pads and/or rotors have been replaced numerous times due to improper wear. Numerous attempts have been made with the dealer and Ford motor company to resolve. However, since warranty has expired, Ford motor company refuses to discuss vehicle replacement. They acknowledge a braking defect however they claim to have no solution at this time. Copies of all repair orders and service notices from Ford are available, as well as correspondence to the dispute reolution board and Ford motor company.
