37 Service Brakes problem of the 2017 Ford F-250

Failure Date: 05/01/2021

Under an emergency stop, traveling straight, moving at or near 60 mph, on highway, three passengers and towing a small camping trailer (about #4000), the front suspension went into a vicious shake. Rapid and sustained. This shook the entire truck. This frequency of the shake did not correspond to the speed of the truck and continued even after the truck had slowed and the brakes were released.

38 Service Brakes problem of the 2015 Ford F-250

Failure Date: 05/01/2021

For about the last 12 months, my truck has what they call the death wobble. This is happened continuously at speeds of 40 to 60 miles an hour and sometimes even takes me off the road and I have to pull over and stop. In addition, I believe the brakes went out due to the continuous wobbling.

39 Service Brakes problem of the 2012 Ford F-250

Failure Date: 03/27/2021

On March 27,2021. I was returning from a shopping trip. I pulled into my drive way parked, turned off the truck. Opened door and immediately smelled hot brakes. I turned looked to rear of vehicle noticed smoke rising from driver and passenger side. I immediately grabbed garden hose a sprayed down the brakes rear and front, water turned to steam instantly. As to when the brakes locked up I cannot pin point, but going to say when I turned to my street which is just under 3/4 mile from house. Once I was sure vehicle was safe I called service department to make an appointment to initiate repairs. Repairs complete April 6, 2021. I did not receive any real answer as to the cause.

40 Service Brakes problem of the 2017 Ford F-250

Failure Date: 03/12/2021

The death wabble was a problem for our gas F-250 crew cab. The problem was warped front rotors. The problem did not show up on any diagnostic and the front brakes and rotors were rated good. The problem was discovered by a talented mechanic who ruled out everything else and performed a visual inspection of the suspect rotors. This is an epidemic problem and it is caused by the manufacturer of the factory supplied rotors!!! Ford must avoid inferior parts that warp in changing temperatures.

41 Service Brakes problem of the 2019 Ford F-250

Failure Date: 03/10/2021

Third incident of violent shaking of steering wheel and entire truck while driving approximately 60-70 mph. All three occurrences happened on the highway after going over relatively small bumps in the road, perhaps 2-3 bumps, one right after the other. I was driving the vehicle during 2 of those incidences. My wife was driving during the most recent one yesterday (3/11/2021) while I was in the passenger seat. She no longer wants to drive the truck and does not want me driving it either. I have also had a handful of situations where it will begin just slightly and I was able to immediately slow down and it would go away. However, if there are multiple bumps it seems to happen with almost 100% predictability. I am a prior federal agent and have been trained for tactical driving at various speeds. With that said, the shaking and loss of control experienced on a roughly $75k vehicle that is around a year old is not only ridiculous from a product stand point, but also, and more importantly, in terms of passenger safety. Our children were with us on 2 of these occasions. This is not a simple rattling, or shaking. I have never experienced this in any other vehicle I have driven and it is a violent wobbling of the entire truck, not just the steering wheel. This is not an exaggeration and is a significant problem and also a safety issue for other vehicles nearby. In one incident the driver of another vehicle to my left was glancing over at me as I slowed down during the violent shaking back and forth. The driver also had a very concerned look and expression of panic, undoubtedly wondering why a new truck would be wobbling uncontrollably at high speed down a freeway. Trucks in particular should be able to handle bumps in the road and are generally considered to be more rugged than other vehicles. The fact that the problem seizes after stopping the vehicle is also puzzling.

42 Service Brakes problem of the 2021 Ford F-250

Failure Date: 01/08/2021

I purchased this truck and as I left the dealership, the pin holding the brake pedal to the linkage fell out because a circlip was not installed to hold it in. I was coasting into a busy highway so I was able to think quickly and use the emergency brake, had I not done that I could have been killed by highway traffic. At that time a service tech was called outand took the truck into service. I rescinded my purchase agreement due to this as I did not feel safe driving this vehicle. It makes me wonder if more are out there like that. VIN number is [xxx] redacted to protect personally identifiable information pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. 43 Service Brakes problem of the 2019 Ford F-250

Failure Date: 12/02/2020

While driving at 42mph front end shaking/vibrating violently on city street. 12/2/2020 very hard to control. While driving on highway 65mph 12/13/2020 front end shaking/vibrating violently very hard to control. While driving near prescott az, 65 mph , truck started shaking vibrating violently almost uncontrollable, this shakes the heck out of all suspension parts and the whole truck for that matter. Researching , this is ongoing issue , told that applying breaks which all people do in this position - warps break rotors as well. Issue is very prevalent on internet. All front suspension parts and rotors should be replace per mechanics that fix these issues. No crash yet but luck will run out.

44 Service Brakes problem of the 2019 Ford F-250

Failure Date: 11/21/2020

I was driving on the freeway at 75 mph when I went over a bridge transition. The trucks steering wheel began to shake uncontrollably and I had to slow the truck down to 20 mph in heavy traffic to get the shaking to stop. The trucks brakes seemed to not work at normal levels when slowing down, I had to let off the gas to get the truck to slow down. This is very unsafe. I could barely control the truck enough to change lanes to start getting over to the emergency lane. I am hesitant to drive my truck anymore if this death wobble is going to happen again.

45 Service Brakes problem of the 2017 Ford F-250

Failure Date: 11/20/2020

Driving on the highway between 70-75 mph and hit a bump in the road and the front end started shaking violently. This happened twice in one commute. From a quick google search it looks like a very large amount of people are having this same issue and from forum boards they are all asking why this hasn't become a safety recall issue yet? the truck will shake violently and the only way I can get it to stop shaking is come down to almost a complete stop. That's not easy or safe on a highway especially if you are in a left lane. I'd like every hot shot or big wig high up in the Ford industry to give that a try and then look me in the eye and tell me that's not a safety issue or shouldn't be a safety recall. Go for it, busy commute, fast lane, hit a bump, violently shaking, then coming safely to a stop. Not just unsafe for myself, but every other person within the vicinity of my truck. Lastly, I purchased this vehicle used this year with only 36k miles and now only has 48k which is hardly enough miles for any major wear and tear. Continuing on that, I was test driving another newer f250 (2019) and during the test drive it did the exact same thing. From what I'm gathering online, this is a major issue that has yet to be addressed and I fear will only be taking seriously when someone gets killed. Why? because I'm sure it's going to cost Ford a ton of money. $40k used truck for me a ton of money. But death? well, I guess that's a risk Ford is willing to take to save face . The death wobble as its being called. The end.

46 Service Brakes problem of the 2017 Ford F-250

Failure Date: 10/15/2020

While driving on the freeway at 65 mph the steering wheel violently began shaking uncontrollably. You could visually see and feel the entire front of the truck shaking. It got worse when I applied the brakes. This has occurred several times when driving over minor imperfections on the road. I took the truck in to get the recall fixed, but it did not fix the wobble. I actually experienced an even worse wobble 1 week after the repair. The wobble is still a serious problem. The first time it happened, the wobble was not immediately noticeable as it was mild and I thought it was the road. The second time it happened, I thought I ran over something on the road that caused me to get a flat tire when in fact the tire was fine and that was the actual wobble. Everything was shaking and I had to grip the steering wheel to control the direction of the truck. Each occurrence happened while driving between 55-65 mph on the freeway.

47 Service Brakes problem of the 2020 Ford F-250

Failure Date: 09/03/2020

My brand new 2020 f250 lariat was delivered to my home yesterday. It was driven roughly 80 miles from denver to colorado springs by the salesman who sold it to me, but is otherwise unused. I noticed last night that the emergency brake cable running to the left rear wheel appears to be too long. As a result it has a loop in it that is positioned between the main leaf springs and a secondary spring that I believe engages when the truck is fully loaded. It's pretty obvious that under a full load, the brake cable is at risk of being pinched by the springs. I have little doubt that the dealer will fix this for me when I ask, but am alarmed that other similar trucks may have the same problem.

48 Service Brakes problem of the 2015 Ford F-250

Failure Date: 07/08/2020

I was driving my truck on 6 lane highway at highway speeds, 65-75mph. When I hit a bump in the road the entire vehicle began to shake violently. The truck was hard to control and the steering and braking of the vehicle were greatly impaired and the shaking didn't stop until I decreased the speed by at least 15-20mph. This has happened several times when either one tire hits a pothole in the road or both tires hit an uneven bridge on the highway.

49 Service Brakes problem of the 2002 Ford F-250

Failure Date: 07/03/2020

The emergency parking break does not work, I don't think it ever has. I have had it repaired twice over the years and it quickly quit both times. It feels like normal resistance when you push it in with your foot, and does a normal clunk and release when you release it, but it does not at all hold the truck in place. It is a manual transmission so it is very inconvenient for this to not work. An example, that I have to deal with regularly is hooking up to a trailer. I need to get out to see how close I am and I have to put it in gear (only reverse will hold it, the other gears will slip and the truck will roll) and turn it off to go look.

50 Service Brakes problem of the 2011 Ford F-250

Failure Date: 06/09/2020

I was driving on the interstate and hit a bump in the road and the steering wheel was shacking uncontrollably, brakes barely worked while trying to pull off the road. At first I thought that my tires were about to come off my truck, the shaking was so bad that items in the seat ended up on the floorboard of the truck. While trying to get the truck to stop and off the interstate I was almost rear ended by an 18 wheeler.

52 Service Brakes problem of the 2018 Ford F-250

Failure Date: 03/08/2020

The front shock absorber bushings are cracked and deteriorating . . Ford will replace them under warranty because they state that the cracked bushing can affect steering, handling and braking . . If the bushings fall apart suddenly the driver of the vehicle can lose control and crash and kill someone. . My service advisor said he has mever seen the problem before. . Being curious I looked at other vehicles on the lot. . Every single f250 and f350 vehicle I looked at had the same problem. . Even the new ones with zero miles had cracked bushings. . It looks like they will fall apart and fail just after the warranty ends. A failed bushing can cause all sorts of steering ans stabilty issues . I thought someone might like to know about this. . Im glad I noticed the cracked bushings before the warranty expires.

53 Service Brakes problem of the 2017 Ford F-250

Failure Date: 12/26/2019

The "death wobble" started after 15k miles on my truck. I've brought my truck to Ford dealership. Ford dealership in san jose, CA told me the dampners on my truck needs to be replaced, but the parts are in back order and doesn't know when Ford will have the parts for replacement. During our latest trip to santa ana, CA on Dec 26, 2019. The front end of my truck, steering wheel shook violently at highway speed (45mph+) when braking or going over potholes/rough roads. The woobles are much worst this time. We almost got into an accident because of the woobles in san luis obispo, CA. We pulled off the freeway and I've called/left voicemail/texted the Ford dealer in san jose, CA. No one called back after an hour, so we decided to cancel out trip and turn around for home. Only to drive much slower and keeping a much longer distance to the vehicle in front of us. My Ford truck is a 2017 Ford f250 lariat crew cabs with 20200 miles on it. Bought the truck new.

54 Service Brakes problem of the 2019 Ford F-250

Failure Date: 12/24/2019

When driving at 50-55 mph, vehicle has went into extremely violent, uncontrollable shaking multiple times after driving over small bumps in road (it happens intermittently, and with bumps you normally would not notice or adjust speed for in a small car). The vehicle cannot be steered or controlled when this occurs other than applying the brakes. Tthe brakes do not work or stop you as fast as they should when this happens (I am assuming due to all the shaking). Last time this occurred it caused me to veer into oncoming traffic lane and I narrowly avoided a head on collision. If the oncoming vehicle had not reacted to my truck moving in to their lane we would have collided. This vehicle is very unsafe to drive until this problem is fixed. Their has been no recall but Ford has issued a tech bulletin about the issue. This problem is very dangerous and will result in lives lost (if it hasnt already). I am currently waiting for parts to fix this (ive already been waiting 10 days and Ford has no clue when they will be in. I was told it might be as long as 60 days before parts come in (unless I use lemon laws to remedy it). How many 2019 f250s have been in head on collisions this year? is there a statistical difference? how many times does this have to happen before something is done? I was told by the dealer that there are 2-3 other trucks ahead of mine waiting on the same part. The truck has been driven 7 months and only has 13,000 miles on it,.

55 Service Brakes problem of the 2018 Ford F-250

Failure Date: 12/14/2019

During driving at a speed of 73 on the highway I went over a bridge and when the truck went over the joint in the road it sent the truck into a death wobble which cause the truck to veer into the other lane. I was pressing the brakes as hard as I could and it felt like they were not hardly working. It took approximately 1/8 of a mile to slow down below 50 where it regained control. Steering was very difficult and could not keep it in my lane. Truck was bouncing uncontrollably and almost took it off the road.

56 Service Brakes problem of the 2019 Ford F-250

Failure Date: 11/11/2019

The truck just turned 15,000 miles and has experienced severe death wobble and the dealership has no parts to fix my truck to make it safe to drive. It has happened at least 5 times with my wife and 3 kids in the vehicle. The truck becomes almost uncontrollable and you can barely brake or steer when the situation happens you have to try to get off the road ASAP and hopefully not cause an accident because the truck needs to slow down to almost a complete stop the get the uncontrollable shaking to stop. . From what I read on the internet, there is no fix and this truck is going to get me in to an accident. I have come close to hitting a center divide. This is my daily driver and the condition is getting worse. I fear that a wreck is eminent. Hopefully it doesn't happen with my family in the vehicle. A fix is needed ASAP or Ford needs to buyback these faulty vehicles.

58 Service Brakes problem of the 2019 Ford F-250

Failure Date: 10/29/2019

Vehicle begins to shake violently & uncontrollable when going over a rough road surface. Feels like the tires are going to fall off. Dealer and manufacturer both have acted as if they know little about the huge problem. Dealer parts for repairs are always back ordered as most dealership will willingly admit that there is no fix for the problem as of today. I went to multiply dealerships to find honesty and they are hiding the fact that they have a major issue with the best selling truck they offer. This is your job to protect consumers from danger and this certainly is the most dangerous vehicle I have ever been a part of .

59 Service Brakes problem of the 2019 Ford F-250

Failure Date: 10/20/2019

After about three months of owning my brand new, 2019 f250 super duty, with considerably less than 10,000 miles on it, the death wobble began occurring at a speed of or higher than 60mph after a rough patch in the road. The vehicle was taken to the dealer initially for the death wobble, where they then replaced the steering damper after deeming it faulty. About two months later, with just over 10,000 miles on the vehicle, the death wobble reappeared with more severity as well as the braking causing the vehicle to essentially shake and bounce. Again, I took the vehicle to the dealer, and they were not able to replicate the braking issue due to the cold weather and told me to keep track of how long after starting to drive the vehicle does the issue begin and that they will work on it when they can fix the other issue, so they also did not fix the steering issue with the death wobble. They deemed the steering damper faulty again, but were unable to repair due to a nationwide backorder on the parts. Well this vehicle is my daily driver that has had to be parked due to it being unsafe to drive. They sent me home with an unsafe vehicle due to a backorder. My safety is at risk every single time I drive at highway speeds so I had no choice but to park it and I now believe I have a lemon sitting in my driveway.

60 Service Brakes problem of the 2019 Ford F-250

Failure Date: 10/20/2019

General driving at freeway speeds drove over highway overpass that had a slight bump. After vehicle suspension reacted to the bump, it went into a violent steering wheel shake that would not stop until the truck was pulled to the side of the road and stopped. Violent shake also happens when applying the brakes from higher speeds to a stop at random times. The recent occurrence happened while ramping onto a highway and applying brakes to negotiate a curve. Truck was checked by dealership recently and stabilizer was replaced but shake still exists at times, however a violent episode has not occurred yet again.

63 Service Brakes problem of the 2015 Ford F-250

Failure Date: 09/23/2019

The abs system and the advanced auto trac malfunction and causes loss of breaks. Ford can not diagnose the problem and seems unworried about the issue. I have questioned Ford about this problem and the response I get is it could be a number of issues. They want to start changing parts at my cost without knowing what it is or not wanting to admit what the problem is. This happens when the truck is in motion and happens without cause. A bell goes off you lose power for a short period of time and lose breaks for periods of time while bells are going off.

65 Service Brakes problem of the 2017 Ford F-250

Failure Date: 06/23/2019

Pulling a gooseneck trailer with moderate load descending a mountain pass, when applied brakes, front end went into the death wobble and had to come to a near stop. In heavy traffic on level terrain while braking the same thing happens and had to come to a near stop. After unloading ,I tried the same braking on level terrain and had no problem. After unhooking the trailer I tried the same braking scenario and had no problem. The vehicle is unsafe to drive hauling a load ,which the vehicle I designed for.

66 Service Brakes problem of the 2017 Ford F-250

Failure Date: 05/13/2019

Truck is almost 2 years old. 25,000 miles on the vehicle. Experienced death wobble when braking ever so slightly above 45 miles an hour. Experienced death wobble on the highway doing approximately 65 miles an hour, had to slow down and change lanes while holding the steering wheel with both hands and slow down to approximately 25 miles an hour in order to get the wobble to stop. First time experiencing the death wobble, took the vehicle into my local dealership paul clark Ford in your florida and was told that the rotor had a hotspot on it. Was told the only solution would be to resurface the rotors. After reading numerous complaints about the same exact issue with the same exact year and model vehicle, I believe that this is more of the recall issue then a sporadic issue. This is going to cause an accident and may cause someone in their life.
