My 2013 Ford Focus has the same transmission and therefore the same issues that are covered by Ford's customer satisfaction program 14m01 but for some inexplicable reason my vehicle was omitted from the program. The technician at the dealer informed me that the issue was the same. The issue is an engineering problem with the transmission not a manufacturing issue. To exclude selected vehicles due to manufacturing dates or locations should not apply. The application of the issue should be associated with the transmission and vehicle year. The vehicle has been in the shop 4 times since I purchased it new 4 years ago. The symptoms are severe transmission slippage and violent shuddering while accelerating from a stop. Each repair has corrected the problem for a very short duration. Although this has not resulted in a crash yet, I am not certain that it is not a safety issue if the vehicles transmission was to fail to accelerate while turning across lanes of traffic.
Car transmission constantly slips/lurches and grinds. Dealer says this is "normal". Car has been close to several accidents due to transmission slipping/lurching at intersections I do not feel safe to drive this car.
We had problems with the transmission since we bought the car on 11/16/12. We experience sudden lurches forward when pressing on the gas pedal, delayed acceleration when taking of, sudden loss of forward propulsion, transmission slipping, delayed gear engagement, hard or erratic shifts and transmission engagement failure while driving. Due to all these problems we once lost control of the car while driving on a city street at 55 miles per hour and had to stop on the side of the road. We have taken the car at least 8 times to get serviced and the the problem does not get resolved.
Tl-the contact owns a 2013 Ford Focus. The contact experiencing failure with the vehicle transmission. Ther contact stated that the vehicel failed to go into reversed. The check engine light illuniated. The contact called bob rohrman schaumburg Ford, 815 e golf rd, schaumburg, IL 60173, and informed them of the failure but had not yet scheduel an appointment. The vehicle was not taken yet to a dealer. The contact had mention that the transmission was slipping into second gear previously and the vehice was taken to the same dealer whree the clutch and transmission were replaced. However, the failure recurred. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that the dealer had to diagnosed the failure first to assist and unable to buy the vehicle back due to it passing the six years. The failure mileage was approximatly 60,000. Aw.
Transmission failure, slowing to exit off the interstate, vehicle shook violently. Took it to the Ford dealer that I purchased it from, they refused to look at or service my vehicle and sent me on my way. I had already taken it to them on 3 different occasions for a noise after the vehicle was shut off, they assured me the noise was normal, saying it was lubricating the transmission so it didn't have to "cold start. " I found a TSB about this noise and took it back to them to have them correct the problem they had told me was normal. After they made the noise go away is when the transmission started to slip. I took it to a different Ford dealer who replaced the defective parts after a 36 day wait. I had the vehicle back for 3 days and the transmission started slipping again. I filed a complaint with the bbb requesting Ford do a buy back of the vehicle, arbitrator ruled they didn't have to. I am now in the process of appealing this decision. These cars with this particular transmission are unsafe and Ford is refusing to do anything about it.
My 2013 Ford Focus wants to stall when going from 1st to 2nd and or the gears slip and the car studders losing speed suddenly. It is equipped with the manual automatic transmission. Initially it was also doing it while trying to reverse. I called the dealership with in two months of purchase and was told that the vehicle needed to be "broken in" and continue to drive it for 1500-2k miles. I let it go and finally brought it in the following September and since than an additional 5 times. They have replaced the throttle body and reprogramed the vehicle three times. It will act ok for a few weeks after the reprogramming then slowly goes back into the same pattern until it happens on a consistent basis. I find it occurs more after driving highway miles and then being stuck in heavy traffic (which is my daily commute). I've spoken with four different Ford technicians and each claim that Ford is aware of this problem however they do not know how to fix it. Initially I was accussed of driving two footed or not knowing how a standard should shift. Upon explaining that I do not drive two footed, I am well aware of how standards should shift as I am not a new driver, I would be connected with a technician. This is a huge safety concern especially in bumper to bumper traffic on the highway.
The vehicle ever since about 8 months post purchase and to date has a very uncontrollable, jerky transmission, often times lunging forward and even vibrating during acceleration. It rolls back on hills as well. It shifts unpredictably a lot of the time and sometimes gears will slip and then catch very abruptly. How it's avoided recall for this long is beyond my understanding. . .
