In traffic my car moved too slow then too fast and it felt like I was losing control of it. It was jolting forward then backward. A light came on the dash saying faulty transmission service now. I had only 3 block to dealership to go and the car almost cut out the whole time. Then it would not go in reverse, dealership (norris Ford) reprogrammed the car. I drove the 1 mile home in smoothness, but noticed when I got home the clock was no longer working. In the morning I saw the date and clock both were wrong and they would not reset. So I called dealership and was told to bring it back. About 7 blocks from the dealership I had to stop for red light and when I touch lightly on the gas pedal the car jolted across the street! again I was losing control of the car. I told the service department and this time they changed the clutch. I am scared to drive my brand new Ford Focus for fear of it stopping in traffic now. I have only owned this car 3 months and it had 172 miles on it when I bought it that were suppose to have been test driving miles I only added 273 miles before the first incident. I fear for mine and others safety when I drive now. Yes I drove the car since the replaced clutch and right now after 20 miles of driving it seems ok but if the same kind of cutch was put back into the car I fear it will happen again. Total miles on my car now is only 486.
The contact owns a 2014 Ford Focus. While depressing the accelerator pedal, the vehicle did not shift into any gear and the engine revved highly and caused the transmission to slip. The failure recurred numerous times. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the clutch needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 106.
The transmission started shuddering on slow starts. The car had trouble deciding what gear it needed to be in. Sometimes it was very slow on take off and other times it just didn't want to go. Rpms were going up and down while my foot was steady on the gas pedal and we were cruising at 55 on flat road surface with no wind. Ford now admits that the clutch is bad and will do a warranty repair.

Focus was bought brand new with 24 miles on it, December of 2013. Around 6 months into having it the Focus started to shudder anytime the gas pedal was pressed, then will take off like normal after a few seconds. This is happening driving down the road or coming from a stop. We've almost been hit several times due to delays in intersections. It has been taken to Ford many times first they would tell us "OH it is just the way the engine works, it's how you get great mileage". . Then heard about the recall, took it in and they replaced the ac clutch telling us that is why it shuddered. Not even a week later same problems started happening. They kept refusing to fix the problem. Now, after the manufactor warranty is expired they tell us the clutches need to be replaced , and that it is not covered under transmission warrenty. . This has been on going since 2014, it needs to be fixed. Also the horn stopped working one day for no reason at all, they looked at that it. The tech said they need to replace the entire horn and that its a common problem among the Focus . This is unacceptable and Ford needs to fix these problems.

I have been dealing with this issue since just months after purchasing my brand new Focus. As I have been told that while the vehicle is an automatic transmission, it uses a clutch in the transmission like a manual, resulting in an issue with shifting. When accelerating, the vehicle shutters and hesitates, causing severe issues during stop-and-go traffic or in city driving. Additionally, after the shuttle, the vehicle will do one of two things. It will either jerk forward or do nothing at all after letting off the gas pedal. Because you never know which it will be, keeping at least 20 feet (usually more) away from the vehicle in front of you is necessary to avoid an accident. Additionally, the vehicle experiences this while merging on an express way. The rpm gauge will show a significant increase as well as the sound, but the vehicle will not react as the rpms show. It will hesitate and then either jerk forward, or nothing at all. I have taken my Focus to multiple Ford service departments and each time, the dealership does not provide a permanent solution. They will explain that they fixed it, either by installing a new clutch, or giving it a system update, and each time the problem continues back. I have taken my vehicle to dealerships who have acknowledged the problem and have not been able to solve it five separate times. Most recently, I have notice the issue becoming more severe - especially after driving long distances. This is absolutely unacceptable and I am extremely disappointed in Ford for not stepping up and taking ownership of this issue.
