In September 2021, I started occasionally receiving the error message "collision mitigation system problem" on my dashboard. It would appear and quickly disappear. At that time, my car shut itself off when I came to a full stop at traffic lights and stop signs 3 different times. The car would boot back up, but it happened to me in the middle of intersections. I took the vehicle into the dealership and they told me it was the battery. I had the battery replaced, but with time, the "collision mitigation system" error reappeared along with other messages, "engine management system problem" and "road departure mitigation problem. " during this time, my car would brake on its own occasionally, happening 6 times in total, when there was no threat of a head-on collision. Three of these incidents happened in the middle of intersections with cars all around me and in one instance, my car come to a screeching halt on its own making me terrified that the car behind me was going to crash into me. The last straw was as I was driving to my child's school and when I came to a curve in the road, my steering locked up completely, not allowing me to turn with the curve. I was able to slam on my brakes and keep myself from crashing, but it was very dangerous. At the same time, the same error messages were flooding my dashboard. That is when I drove my just 3 year old car back into the Honda dealership and told them they must fix this before I put my child back into that car, and my car still sits there. The dealership informed me that my collision assistance camera that is integral to the Honda sensing safety mechanisms is "faulty" and will cost me $1,500-$1,700 to repair. I see online that this is being investigated in 2017-2019 Honda crvs and 2018-2019 Honda accords sedans. I implore you to also investigate this same system error in 2019 Honda Odysseys. The Odyssey is a family car, but yet I am now scared to drive my family in this vehicle for fear of it causing a collision.

One main problem I have consistently noticed is signs someone other than me is getting in my car or leaving at least impression they did inside the car alot although I am the only one supposed to have a key. It was happening so much I paid lafontaine Honda more than $1000 to change out the keys including the ignition but that hasnt resolved the problem. I still see normal evidence they are actually touching things inside my car and even stealing alot of fuel which they took so much last night it was ridiculous. I keep sending my local police reports and photos of as much as I can using the tipline and they never contact me back like they either ignoring, staying anonymous, or have no time to read my messages. They fuel is being stolen everytime I fill the tank by someone nearbye. The next issue is that there is a malfunction clearly feels like it is inside the steering wheel mechanics and not my tires that something or one is overriding the steering when I am on the freeway and highway jerking me in the direction of other vehicles when they start passing me like they trying to make them think I am threatening to hit them or threatening me to cause a collision. Exactly how it feels. They were even doing it to lyrics in the music while I was driving alot the whole trip there and back. The car seems very insecure. I see also that other people in like models cars locally are popping up on me like they have a gps on me and that is threatening. The steering wheels ignition switch was checked and I told them of the intrusion problems but they offered me no solution. Insurance is not helping me with repairs of anything and wont even offer me an option to get me discounts on car repairs or inspection help. I cant even report that type of stuff. Police also wont inspect a car but sends me away to a mechanic all the time. I think the previous owner may have modded a bunch of the parts but it is my car and should only be responding to me. Not others.

Land departure system is automatically activated, but not turned on. Periodically, even when not leaving the lane, system overrides my actions. Rather frightful when unaware as to what is going on. It felt like a tug-of-war. This occurred while driving on two lane roads.
Break push automatic without my pushing, stearing hard toward one side and may be leaking, colour pills, power door actuator latch problem, pipe under engine look rotten. Transmissionn noise. During driving, car break peddle work and not in my control. Pax tyre one out of 4 has lost surface, thread of michelin pax tyre and in warrantee and michelin asked to go to Honda dealer only and only as they only solve pax tyre problem. Turning vehicle in slow speed is very hard though power stearing and noise come from power door front left driver side actuator. Recall was for this car Honda odessey 2007 but now web say no recall or 0 recall. I want Honda to help fix all problem as a courtesy. Driving on i26 traveling east into charleston, SC in second from the left lane, driving at approximately 60 mph during busy rush hour. Suddenly, a large SUV in the next lane to my left veered into my lane. I turned the wheel sharply to the right to avoid a collision, also similtaneously braking just enough to avoid a collision. I had moved approximately 1/2 a lane to the right. I turned the wheel to the left to come back into my lane. The vehicle suddenly began veering to the right and left as I was fighting to keep it under control. In the next 10-15 seconds, the van veered alternatively right and left about 5 times each until it stabilized. I was using all of my strength to keep the vehicle from taking off across lanes of traffic. I called Honda north America and was essentially dismissed as I was told to just turn off my lane mitigation system, with no explanation or apparant care about what I had gone through. I went to my local Honda dealer and explained what had happened. The service manager was concerned and told me he would get back to me. That was over a month ago and I have received no information from them. I do not know if this problem will repeat itself, or if it has ever been reported. I am quite concerned because this situation could have caused a devastation injury or fatility to my family and others.
Road departure mitigation system malfunction warning came on. Steer wheel locked almost causing head on crash. 2nd time this has happened in 2 weeks with this vehicle.
The vsa warning light keeps coming on along with an exclamation sign. It prevents acceleration and causes temporary loss of power while driving. Also, prevents use of cruise control. It temporarily resets when engine is turned off but then turns on again while driving. This occurs while vehicle is in motion on city streets as well as highways.
This is a follow up report to 11343147. Since the subject report we have had 3 more incidents (in about a week) of the steering wheel locking and preventing the car from turning. One time the locked steering wheel forced the car into the oncoming lane of traffic during a basic right hand turn into a neighborhood. One instance while stopped to try and back into our drive way we watched the steering wheel turn by itself. In these cases the lane departure warning was set to warning only and the acc and lkas are 100% off. Clear, sunny drive days. Temperature in the low 80's. Car speeds were from 0 mph to probably 25 mph. I have uploaded a pdf that describes as best we can the incidents that have occurred so far. The issue seems to be very random. Will be taking the car to the dealer tomorrow to see if they can determine the issue.

On a sunny, clear, dry day and on a paved and marked two lane country road, the car would not let me turn to the right on a swtichback turn. I was travelling at approximately 25 -30 mph with my foot lightly on the accelerator to maintain speed. The switchback was to the right and upward and it was around 14:00. Basically the steering wheel locked and remained locked forcing the car into the opposite lane of traffic until I brought the car to a full stop at which point the steering wheel unlocked and I could turn the vehicle to the right and follow the road back to the right on its course. The elapsed time was probably 3-4 seconds and fortunately there was no oncoming traffic or vehicles behind us. The lane departure warning system was on. The "main" button for the adaptive cruise control and lane keep assist was on but neither of these systems were engaged. The sensors and camera on the front did not have anything blocking them other than what you might expect after driving a car in normal driving conditions without a wash for 4-5 days. The problem has not re-occurred since this one time event but we also have not driven the car on switchback roads since and don't normally do so. The car had approximately 1500 miles on it. There was no damage to the car and nothing to show so there are no pictures included with this report. I have reported this issue to Honda directly as well. I.
2009 Honda Odyssey. Issues on the automatic transmission. On 4th gear just shudders either downshifting or up shifting while driving. And besides all this also makes a knocking sound either backing up or moving forward. Besides makes a humming sound from transmission when driving.

My 2007 Odyssey was diagnosed as having a power steering leak. This was funny because my 2004 accord was also diagnosed with the same issue. Multiple mechanics suggested that perhaps there was an issue with power steering machinery in Hondas from those years. In fact, there were recalls for both 2004 accords and 2007 Odysseys but our vehicle VIN numbers did not fall under those recalls. However, this is still concerning that this is due to faulty parts and would like Honda to consider a free replacement as they would have for those vehicles for whom the parts were recalled.
On July 2nd our vehicle wouldn't start. Prior to this date the vehicle worked fine. We call Honda roadside assistance and they came and jumped it. My wife let it idle for nearly 1 hour and turned it off. She returned an hour later only to find it was dead again. I decided to come home and jumped it and drove it down the hwy. While driving down the highway there was some vehicles swearving around some debris on the road and when I applied my brakes the vehicle lost power and I wasn't able to stear the vehicle fast enough and hit some of the debris. I let of the brake and the power came back on. I drove home turned the vehicle off and then tried to restart it again only to discover it was dead. I got out of my vehicle and inspected the front end which had minor scratches and cuts in the lower front driver's side bumper.
The van is going backward when you put it in drive and when you press it does not go forward it just revs up the gas. The car was in motion driving when it went from driving to reving the gas and not going forward.

I was driving on the street approximately 25mph, suddenly the steering wheel locked up on me. The vehicle had approximately 270,000mi on it. I checked american Honda recalls and found a recall order. Copies of he documents enclosed. I reported the problem and explained the circumstances of the problem. I was told that recalls are VIN specific and vehicle does not show anything on their records. I made and researched and found the documents which I've enclosed copies with this complaint. I was told to talk with Honda dealership so they could advice me about the problem. I went to norm reeves Honda, as much as I did, I was ignored, no one listened, all I was told was call back american Honda in which I said I have done. . They did not do anything to check on it and no explanation about it was oven except their records show a part number that upon my insistence for more info, I was totally ignored. The recall notice was issued Feb 22, 2013 titled, "electrical system ignition switch" which clearly explains the issuance of the recall order. . Although the 15 year warranty has lapsed since the issuance of the order. If there was something done on the lever, they did not replaced or did anything on the ignition switch which is the only reason that I see is connected with what happened to the vehicle and my safety and the public's.
While braking at 50+mph, the steering wheel starts to shake violently. The car currently has 58,000 miles on it. This has been occurring for over a year. We have had the tires rotated and balanced, the rotors and break pads are good. This is becoming a safety hazard and Honda needs to do something about this.

Pivot bolt on the auto-tensioner broke twice. The first time the pivot bolt broke was after I had the alternator replaced and I was driving down the highway to take children to school in subzero winter conditions. I barely made it home as my van was running only on the battery. If I had stalled along the road, me and my children were at risk of hypothermia or possibly death due to frigid -40 cold weather. I then had a new tensioner pulley bracket installed and after driving down the highway and the pivot bolt broke off completely again. This is very dangerous condition that can cause serious harm or death due to defective pivot bolt. .

The contact owns a 2006 Honda Odyssey. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle, the power steering malfunctioned causing the steering wheel to become very difficult to turn in either direction. The vehicle was examined by an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the power steering pump hose had malfunctioned causing a power steering fluid leak. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer and local dealer were not yet notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 80,000.
I was braking on the freeway driving at 65 mph. When I braked the steering shakes. The car is almost 3 years old with only about 23,000 miles on it. I will take to dealer to get it inspected.

The paint is chipped off the car slowly , and the electronic part of the car acting weird, the daisy door some times work automatically and some times not.
We purchased this vehicle brand new. Overall it has been excellent, but it does have one horrible safety flaw. The brakes heat up and warp on even a small hill and cause the steering to shake terribly when breaking. The dealer will fix the problem, for a premium of course, and you are good to go for several months. Then it comes right back. This is a known problem, and I'm really surprised that Honda hasn't been forced to do a recall since they won't do one on their own. They call it "wear and tear". Yeah, right. It's so common that the dealer specifically asks about it every time we come in for an oil change or whatever. "any issues with shaking during breaking?" sorry, but you will never get me to believe that this is a normal question every time a car comes in for service. We've paid for the "repairs" a few times, but I can't afford to keep paying for the same parts over and over again. So now I just answer yes, but that it's not shaking enough to pay for the temporary repairs again. Really, it's kind of scary and horrible. This seems like it's a serious safety issue, but no one seems to care. This is a minivan. Minivans are usually filled with kids. Hopefully someone at Honda or the us government will finally realize that parents shouldn't be struggling to hold onto their steering wheels just so that Honda can sell new brakes every few months. I'm only bringing it up now because it's so common that I'm starting to receive letters from attorneys about class-action suits. I'd rather Honda just issue a recall and fix the problem. Do the rotors simply need to be better quality steel? I would even be fine if I had to pay for the brakes yet again, as long as the problem is actually fixed once and for all. The minivan only has about 59k miles on it.
Clunking sound when turning. Something appears to be loose.
Engine leaking oil and smoke appears when the van is on seats feel loose.
Steering wheel clicks/pops while turning due to a bad bearing, may be corroded, reference TSB no. 16-024. Dealer and Honda say that my model doesn't qualify for repair under warranty, but is potential safety hazard.

Vsa light came on then the car will not go over 2000 rpms and the steering gets hard. The brakes go to floor making hard brake feel. This happened on the interstate.
The steering wheel locks and the ignition key will not turn when I insert it. This is the second time it has happened to me in as many months.
Have had extensive issues from Honda of America and local dealerships regarding the status of the Odyssey's safety. This van has had issues since new that Honda has consistently attempted to avoid dealing with. Vehicle at low speeds has suddenly heavy and troublesome steering affected steering response and vehicle direction when turning. Brake pedal feel when slowing in any forward/reverse direction is unresponsive increasing stopping distance and affecting emergency maneuvers. Dealership/ Honda has not and will not accept liability!.
