While driving the vehicle, the check engine light and service transmission came on. It starting acting as though it was stuck in a higher gear. Going from a complete stop and accelerating, there was no power. After getting the code read, it was displaying p0887 "tcm power relay control circuit high. " I've researched the issue and noticed that it has happen on a lot of the Chrysler vehicles from 2014 to 2018.

While driving my check engine light came on and I got a "service transmission" message. I went and had it diagnosed at autozone. It came back with error code p0887- tcm power relay control circuit high. The light comes on and goes off but I am noticing a decrease in the acceleration power and at times the vehicle acts as if it is in neutral, I had to put the vehicle in park and then drive and it slowly started driving.
After having the recall for the transmission control module fixed my car started stalling out. It shifts into neutral while driving and you have to stop and shift to park then back to drive. It will not idle for long and will die if you don't constantly pump the gas pedal. It almost died on me while making a left turn into a parking lot in on coming traffic. And it didn't want to go up hill into my driveway, which is a tiny incline. I didn't have any issues with my car until after the recall.

A continuous problem exists with the tcm/pcm for our vehicle whereas it gives little to no warning that power is failing and stalls out while car is in motion; runs rough; rpm indicator shows acceleration when it's basically going under 25 mph; list goes on. Three weeks ago, new starter put in. Two weeks ago, car started acting up again. Dropped off at Dodge to locate problem. This is the third time in past year vehicle has had same issue. In Dec '19, Dodge claims it needed updates for the transmission. Okay. . . Run updates. . . $500 later. Vehicle has been into Dodge dealership several times since car was purchased, and both tcm (recall replacement) and pcm (last week) have been replaced. We inquired about any further updates needing done at that time. . . "no, it's good to go. " unfortunately, during this pcm repair process, they informed us that the "bad" pcm had also damaged the starter (yes, the brand new one) and the car battery (new as of oct 2019). The pcm parts/repair alone sucked $1300 out of my account. It's been less than one week since we finally got the vehicle back, and we are right back where we started as far as performance, ie running rough, dashboard messages, losing power, stalling out, etc. . . And the new pcm was supposed to have been the problem. Why isn't there anything that can be done to remedy this issue? it's costing a small fortune just trying to ensure it's even safe to drive. Other drivers tend not to be very alert when it comes to approaching a vehicle that is going much slower than other traffic; very scary when our Jeep begins to fail in traffic. This issue presents safety concerns for my kids driving vehicle. These are common, known issues among other Jeep owners and I don't understand why the consumer is responsible for upkeep/repair on a bad auto engineering design, much less driving an unsafe vehicle.
Vehicle would not go forward when stopped at a red light, car was unable to be pushed out of the intersection, and required a tow truck take it to the dealership. Repair was 35844 updates and drive learn reprogram tcm pcm 68103804ar to 68241152ah.
Tl- the contact owns a 2014 Jeep Cherokee limited. The contact stated that when putting vehicle into drive the vehicle lurches forward and the 4x4 warning lights illuminated and service transmission lights. The contact spoke with a local mechanic and was informed that he had a faulty tcm. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 107,000. Tp.
Intermittent jerky transmission shifting, typically at lower speeds (<20 mph). When this happens, often results in transmission error that states vehicle must be stopped or placed in park. Until stopped and put in park, no acceleration or ability to shift otherwise. Typically happens at intersections or stop/go traffic . . . Very dangerous. We had the v69 recall performed . . . Still happened. We took it back in and dealer replaced the tcm . . . Still happens. Need to resolve before allowing my teenage daughter to continue driving vehicle.

April, 2019: every thing on the dash lit up. Car started to roll and we had to jump out of the car to stop it. It wouldn't go into park, but parking brake worked for a while. Car wouldn't turn off, locks wouldn't work. Nothing worked. Towed to dealer with Jeep on the whole way. A 18 month old child was with us. Dangerous. Repair did a tcm fix and said this was a catastrophic event that would not happen again. October 2, 2019. Pushed the start button car started but couldn't push down on brake. Couldn't move out of park. Would turn it off and it would turn right back on. Had it towed to dealer - have not heard back. In addition have had transmission issues for last two years. Car lurches when going around 30 mph, stalls a bit when just starting out driving from a stopped position.
Tl- the contact owns a 2019 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated that when using the start button for the vehicle, it would hesitate to start instead of starting immediately. The contact then stated that while driving at highway speeds the vehicle would hesitate to accelerate and exhibit a sputter when attempting to accelerate as well. The contact stated that while driving approximately 50 mph the vehicle suddenly began to reduce in speed. The contact stated they lost all throttle with the vehicle. The vehicle's service electronic throttle warning light illuminated. The contact contacted the dealership (tri-star uniontown located at 2 superior way, uniontown, PA 15401 phone number 724-430-1401) who replaced the vehicle's wiring harness, reprogrammed power train module, pedal accelerator replaced, replaced the throttle body, reprogrammed transmission control module, and other repairs. The failure remains. The contact stated the failure occurred about 5 times. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue and opened case number 74681739. The approximate failure mileage was 1,000. My child purchased vehicle (used) from dealer (mi. - approx. 43,820). Discovered powertrain issues w/ vehicle that I believe are related to previous recall (re:Chrysler recall # s55). While driving vehicle it will go into neutral and engine revs up, resulting in loss of forward motion. This happens intermittently. The check engine light and service trans. May come on, but will go out. Vehicle was taken back to dealer regarding the problem. Serviceman reccomended replacing transmission at a cost of over $5000. 00. Prior recall service on vehicle (11/2016) shows the problem as the transaxle range sensor wire harness, but the pcm and the tcm was re-programmed. This was done twice according to the vehicle records. We spoke with the dealer and mfg. About replacing the wiring harness, since the recall indicated that could possibly be the problem due to bad crimping. Took the vehicle back to the dealer to diagnose the problem. They indicated that they checked the wiring harness and found no problem. It appears the dealer and mfg. Not willing to take ownership of problem, leaving the consumer (my daughter) with a continuing intermittent issue and the cost of resolving it. . . (very disappointed!) also, the vehicle still has the trouble code that they can't clear (code= p1db7) note that the vehicle had less than 100,000 mi when this issue was bought to their attention, but mfg. Won't honor powertrain warranty because she is not the original owner. Dealer willing to replace trans. At cost of over $5000. 00. . .
Had the recall for the transmission control module done hoping that would solve the issue, but it didn't. Our car when at a stand still or when driving the car will all of a sudden be stuck in a gear and then find itself real hard. Recently the car was at a gas station and went to put it into drive and it wouldn't move, then all of sudden boom in gear it drops.
Service shifter message on. All the gear shift lights are on. Dealership reported wire harness wires are 'frayed' needs to be replaced. Never had any work done in that area. Has to be a manufacturing problem. This has also caused the following engine code to arise. P0222 description the throttle position sensor/switch is located on the throttle body of the intake manifold and the pedal position sensor/switch is part of the accelerator pedal assembly. These sensors tell the engine control module (pcm) how fast the driver wants to go and how quickly it needs to get up to speed. When the pcm detects a problem with this sensor or the circuit for the sensor, it will set code p0222. The pcm may also limit the speed of the vehicle to 20 miles per hour or less ("limp home mode") to protect the engine and the driver due to the control module's inability to accurately detect the engine performance being requested. Almost caused me to wreck going to work.
Tl the contact owns a 2016 Jeep Cherokee. While driving 45 mph, the vehicle jerked while shifting between first, second, and third gears, and lost power. In addition, the rpms failed to increase to 2,000 and the check engine warning indicator illuminated. The contact disconnected the battery cable, but the failure recurred. The contact used the lpb reader and received code: p0887 (tcm high voltage). The contact called east tennessee Dodge Chrysler Jeep ram (2774 n main st, crossville, TN 38555, (931) 463-3640), but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and referred the contact to NHTSA. The failure mileage was approximately 30,000.

Takata recall: the transmission was acting up last month brought on by a computer flaw that was discover by Chrysler. The car would stall after coming to a halt/slow down. Based on the members of aamco, Chrysler released a bulletin 21-032-18 that indicates a computer update that revealed that the tcm power circuit control. High. this was not a driver/owner issue, this was a Chrysler/Jeep issue. After I returned from my tdy and having paid $185 for a computer update, I was looking reimbursement and was told that nothing could be done. It's disgusting how a loyal customer can be treated so poorly without having an issue resolved for something that the company caused.
Alittle over 50k miles and 4 wheel drive light comes on and off while driving. . Transmission and car was acting up, shut off while driving crossing a bridge to new jersey. Took in for service was tcm in the transmission apparently covered with 16 days left on warranty.
At 9000 miles the "service shifter" light came on and took to dealer as a mechanic told me do not put in park. At 40,000 miles it came on again and was told the tcm had a recall ,,and if it happened again bring back about 3 weeks later it came on again and is still in shop. Now I am worried after a mechanic told me it can lock up the transmission and cause the vehicle to crash,,, I dont feel safe driving the vehicle any lonker,, and am worried for my self and family.

Since purchasing this vehicle new in December 2014 it has been back to the dealer for service first time for a transmission control module and power train control module software update to correct hard shifts in 9 speed transmission since that initial recall this vehicle has been back to the dealer 4 additional times to correct the same issue. At times the shift is so hard it feels as if is have been rear ended. As of today the issue still exists, most recent dealer visit was 12/11/18. Hard shift occurs while in motion on both city streets and highway driving dealer repair invoices are available if needed. Incidents have occurred over the past 4 years. 12/1412/18.

Previously had 2 separate recalls regarding the tcm (transmission control module), both we're immediately remedied at the dealer. However, at 111,000 miles my check engine came on and my transmission began acting funny. Prior to taking back to the dealer I stopped at the local autozone and had them identify the code that triggered my check engine light. The tcm was not accepting the data correctly, meaning the tcm needed re-programmed or replaced. Due to my vehicle being 11,000 miles out of warranty, the dealer refused to correct the problem, even though this was clearly a Jeep problem, and not a user problem. I have never done any towing and all of my miles are highway miles. I researched this issue and this is, by far, the most common complaint for this particular year and make. I feel since it is a Jeep issue, it should have been corrected.
Tl the contact owns a 2014 Jeep Cherokee. While driving approximately 5 mph, the vehicle did not move without warning. The vehicle was towed to big m Chrysler Dodge Jeep ram (859-885-3367, located at 1010 elizabeth st, nicholasville, ky 40356) where the technician updated the computer system, but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The contact later received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 19v447000 (power train) and took the vehicle to the same dealer who once again reprogrammed the transmission control module. The vehicle was repaired; however, the contact did not beleive the failure was remedied. The failure mileage was 55,000.
The contact owns a 2019 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated that on several occasions while driving at various speeds and stopping at traffic lights, the vehicle lost motive power and started to reverse unintendedly. The vehicle was restarted each time. Additionally, on several occasions, while driving at various speeds the vehicle downshifted inadvertently. The vehicle was steered to the side of the road and restarted. The contact stated that the auto start/stop warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed and determined that the transmission control module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 5,000.
Around 10000 miles my Jeep started having a bucking/jerking feeling when accelerating or slowing down while driving. I took it to the dealership at 18000 miles. The dealership was aware of this concern and did a tcm quick learn (12 June 18). On 19 June 18 same problem dealership is calling it harsh up shift and down shift more in lower gears while driving. Dealership verified concern with test drive and replaced the valve body. Then 25 Jun 18 check engine light code: u0402 another tcm relearn. On July 14 same shifting issue while driving on interstate and July 15 check engine light came on. I took to another dealership July 16 because I am on vacation same code u0402, tcm relearn. Transmission and pcm codes. Service manager said safe to drive. While driving same day to another state on vacation same shifting issue. This vehicle is unsafe! consistent shifting problems, concerning the transmissioin while driving. I have two children every-time I get the Jeep back the dealer says it is fixed it is not and the transmission issues are a safety concerns. Driving 70 mph on an interstate with a transmission that can have shifting concerns at anytime when slowing down or speeding up is a huge risk to everyone on the road. This vehicle should be recalled.
Transmission issue causing a serious safety issue. While braking the vehicle has an acceleration surge. It also does this while coasting and the transmission goes into a downshift. There are also issues with it shifting in several gears. There is a check engine light on u0402. Chrysler dealership tried to program the tcm twice and the light comes right back on.
The vehicle lags on takeoff, shifts roughly between gears, lags between gears, and lurches. The automatic transmission does not function smoothly and, at times, has caused safety concerns related to inadequate acceleration and lurching forward unexpectedly. These problems occur in motion on city streets and on the highway. The vehicle has been in and out of the dealership for service related to the transmission control module (tcm). We have been told that it is not covered under the power train warranty, even though it is part of the transmission system. The date provided below is the latest service. However, the vehicle has been serviced two other times for the same problem.
Transmission is performing strangely. At low speeds it stalls and cannot move. Warning lites illuminate and says to place vehicle in gear, vehicle must be stopped, shut down and re-started. Several times "service shifter" lite is illuminated and has been to dealer, they continue to re-program and check re-calls. Vehicle may be unsafe to drive. Dealer says tcm is needing re-programming. This stalling and tranny re-programming has happened on two occasions. Sometimes tranny lags on acceleration. Vehicle usually in motion at low speed or during intial take off from dead stop. Sometimes gear selector will not function properly when warning lites illuminate. In 2018 it has been taken to plant Jeep; flagstaff az, lawley Jeep; silvercity nm, and horne; globe az. Recall s55 wire harness not installed.

The contact switched to park and waited approximately 30 seconds before engaging the vehicle back in drive and driving home. The contact also stated that the vehicle experienced the same failure in December of 2017. The vehicle was taken to o'daniels Jeep in ft wayne, indiana where it was diagnosed that the transmission control module had to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and opened case number: 33265060. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 78,000.
2. 3l v6 powered Jeep with 9 speed automatic transmission has had improper shifting problems since late December 2017, up to and including vehicle engine shutdown with "service transmission" notification on evic. Vehicle stalled in traffic at busy intersection. Engine restart locked transmission in "limp" mode and allowed vehicle to be driven approximately 6 miles to home. Transmission tcm has been re-flashed three times in the past 30 days with problems recurring within 100-200 miles. Vehicle engine shutoff stalls occurring in city street and highways. Vehicle still does shift properly.
Tl the contact owns a 2014 Jeep Cherokee. On several occasions, while driving, the vehicle stalled and lost power. The service transmission, traction control, and electronic stability control indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to rainbow Chrysler Dodge Jeep llc (301 river highlands blvd, covington, la 70433, (985) 892-9165), but no diagnostic failure codes were found and the failure could not be duplicated. The vehicle was not repaired and the failure recurred. The vehicle was then taken back to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the transmission control module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was notified and did not assist. The approximate failure mileage was 40,000.
Driving on hwy 11/25/17 and check engine light and service transmission msg came on. Transmission did not function properly and caused car to be stuck in one gear. Went into limp mode and made it to destination. When car was at a stop it was hard to accelerate because it was stuck in a higher gear. We turned it off and put it in park, when it was restarted it seemed to reset but the check engine light was still on. Recurred again on the way home as well as on 11/26/17. Brought car into Chrysler dealer on 11/28/17. Rode with technician and problem was duplicated. Once car hits 8th gear all warnings return. Diagnostic test gave code for tcm power control circuit high, vehicle was flash reprogrammed and I was advised that it should resolve the issue. This was most recent software update which came on 4/4/17. After a test drive issue currently seems resolved. Reporting it because it is a major safety defect and want it known that newer models are still having issues with the 9 speed transmissions. When this occurs it makes it very unsafe to drive on highway.
