"service shifter" notification on the dashboard while prndl lights are solid red near the transmission shifter. I have take the Jeep to the dealer while it was less than a year old and they advised it needed and update and to my understanding that's what they did. Now 6-8 months later the same notification appears on the dash and the lights near the shifter are solid red. When the car is turned off and restarted they go away to only come back on again after a few days or even a couple minutes. Vehicle was in motion when this occurred at low and higher speeds.

While driving on a residential street, my 2016 Jeep Cherokee latitude with 45,196 miles displayed the "service shifter" message on the dashboard. The prnd shifter lights were all lit up red. Pulled over, put the car in park, restarted the vehicle and the message did not appear. Later in the day, the radio display stopped working. Scheduled a service appointment with the dealership.

Soon after starting to drive in the a. M. On a residential road, "service shifter" message appeared and all red lights came on the prndl shift selector; cause unknown; reports of a recall online that have caused a celebrity fatality, but no recall on NHTSA using VIN;.
When driving my 2017 Jeep Cherokee 2. 4 l, my service shifter light turns on and all the lights (prnd) turn red. This happened after 36,000 miles warranty was over. Jeep dealer would not fix it without me paying out of pocket. If I turn the car off, the message will clear it self but will come back on again after driving.
When I drive my car cluster showed me "service shifter" and all lights are turn on in transmition prnd. I went service center they didn't know why that signal comes on. I'm very concern abiut that because that cause sudden unintended acceleration or stop engine during driving. It happened few more times before.

Service shifter dash warning comes on while driving. At the same time, the prnd lights on the gear selector light up. The notification clears and the lights turn off when the vehicle is shut off and restarted; however, the notification will appear again intermittently. The vehicle has been serviced for this issue three times and will go in for another service to resolve this issue on Wednesday, July 29. As of now, the vehicle has not been repaired and the warning light still comes on.

Transmission electronic shift lever. The shifter does not always light up. The dealership/Chrysler says the prndm and esm module need to be replaced. The remedy the shifter sometimes not lighting up when shifting into d, r or p. The car can be in drive shift to reverse and the light disappears. Next time a mile down the road shift from park to drive, it lights up. Also, the electronic notice has twice said after being in park and not wanting to go in gear that the shifter needs to be serviced. The module is covered but the prndm is not??? doesn't make since that out of pocket to us is $400 just for the prndm. Complained to Chrysler. They were going to pay half and since we kept escalating the case with Chrysler they will pay nothing.

For the fourth time, my 2015 Jeep Cherokee locked up the park brake, and the electical components all begin to operate sporatically without being turned on. The instrument gauges all start flashing, the wipers start swiping, the display screen begins flashing on and off, the prndl starts flashing and becomes unresponsive, and the instrument panel begins displaying multiple error messages, as if they car has become possessed. The scariest part is when the park brakes locks up, no matter what speed you are travelling at. The car was in motion twice when the car malfunctioned and locked up, and just yesterday was sitting in a mcdonald's drive through when the same thing happened. My wife is now terrified to drive this car anymore after four times of the same issue. Our fear is this is going to happen on a crowded freeway, and a semi behind us will not be able to avoid hitting us because our park brake has locked up. There are other complaints of this same issue with other Jeep owners on the internet. I cannot afford to just trade this in for another vehicle. . . I need some help getting this resolved so my family isn't in jeopardy just keep driving this vehicle the dealer cannot seem to permanently fix.
Today's not the first time I've had problems with my 2014 Jeep Cherokee, but I will say I'ts been the worst! drove my car during the day then all of a sudden during high traffic hours it decides to jerking and shake while pulling to a red light so I pull into my local wal-mart to see if it was something with my battery because the light came on but the guy said everything was fine so I tried driving more and the car jerked so hard I thought someone hit my car but no one had . While car was in high speeds it started decelerating while on busy roads nearly causing multiple accidents. While driving it loses power giving me a message saying service transmission, battery light and engine light comes on, and while in motion the prnd the d would blink constantly.
The contact owns a 2017 Jeep Cherokee. While accelerating from a stop, the gear shifted abruptly and caused the vehicle to jerk. In addition, the "service the shifter" indicator illuminated. The failure recurred several times. The vehicle was taken to leith Chrysler Jeep (5500 capital blvd, raleigh, nc 27616, 919-872-5500) where the technician updated the computer system, but the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken back to the same dealer where it was diagnosed that the gear selector bezel and harness needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failures and stated that they would contact the dealer. The contact also stated that the manufacturer promised to get back with her within twenty-four hours. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 3,000.
On June 10, 2016 at approx. 5:15pm, service shifter displayed on the driver information display (did) for approx. 5 seconds as I was driving on I-95 in west palm beach, FL. At approximately 8:00pm, service shifter displayed again and remained displayed on the did. After approximately 5 minutes, I pressed the controls for the electronic vehicle information center (evic) attempting to remove the service shifter display and display the speedometer. Pressing the evic did not change the service shifter display. The did/evic crashed. I did not know my driving speed or could access any other vehicle information. I then noticed the center console and the p (park), r (reverse), n (neutral), and d (drive) indicator lights all illuminated simultaneously. I got off I-95 at the next exit, port st. Lucie, FL and stopped at a shell gas station. I took pictures of the displays with my cell phone before turning off the engine, mileage 36,474. I turned the engine off and called Chrysler roadside assistance. The agent said he could not tell me how long the wait would be for service or tow. I started the engine and waited to see the did, evic, and p r n d displays. The displays were the same as before I turned off the engine. I could see a hotel from the gas station. I googled the hotel address and the address of the nearest Jeep dealership, arrigo Dodge Chrysler Jeep, ft. Pierce, FL. The distance was 8 miles. I drove to the hotel, 0. 4 miles from gas station. The next morning, June 11th, I called arrigo and talked with a service advisor and asked if I could bring my Jeep immediately. I drove to arrigo at 5851 s. Us highway 1, ft. Pierce, FL. Attached is repair order 136810 - 6/11/16 flash software. Same occurrence driving on I-95, service shifter and prnd 46,302 miles and 46, 623 miles in 09/16. Replaced shifter 9/21/16 at my expense. 5 files attached. I have more.

Consumer was traveling about 40mph on highway while entering a ramp there was a loud grinding/loud noise. This was caused by gears coming apart. Dealership was aware of problem, and consumer had transmission replaced.
When consumer backs out there are no back up lights. Also, automatic transmission gear shift is very loose. The loose gearshift is the cause of the problem.

The transmission does not have a separated detent for first and second gears, they are combined in a 1-2 position. When shifting into 1-2 position, vehicle's speed decreases to 24-28 mph and will automatically downshift to first gear.
