My Jeeps service shifter light comes on every few hundred miles and always when I'm driving it's comes on during my trips to georgia and just driving around the city. I constantly complained to the dealership about it and they told me to bring it in and they'll look at it but if you turn the vehicle off the lights turn themselves back off and you have to wait for it to happen again. Well this happened almost every time I took the car in and so they never took me seriously and would turn me away saying nothing looked wrong with the car. Well the last time the light came on a clicking sound followed when accelerating and soon after my rear driveshaft fell out while driving down the road. I took it to my dealership as I have a warranty with them and I told them about everything, including the lights and the clicking noise. They finally returned the car to me fixed after having it for over a month. They claimed that they had fixed everything I told them about but the lights came right back on three days later and now the things basically fights any form of acceleration and it aggressively jerks every time it downshifts and it makes a small clunk noise when reversing.

Shift service warning - 2014 Jeep Cherokee has been having problems for some time with hesitation when shifting into drive or reverse (loud banging noise when initially shifting). Car has 113,000 miles current, but issue started at 85,000. @ dealerships did different work saying it would solve the problem (replace front cv shafts and rear drive shaft at high cost and problem still existed). Now I am getting a shifter service warning light and banging between gears getting worse. 95% of mileage has been highway with no stop and go, so this should not be happening and should be a national recall on the drive system. Researching the amount of complaints on this issue are massive.

After driving at freeway speeds of 60-70 mph, the steering begins to pull to the right continuously. Then, without warning, it will suddenly pull to the left, then right, then the steering wheel will start to wobble and shimmy and a sense of loss of control of the vehicle is felt. The entire front end starts to shake. Also, at the time this is occurring, the odor of hot oil permeates the interior of the vehicle. This problem happens every time the vehicle is driven for over an hour at freeway speeds. Once, while this was going on the drive shaft front cv joint seized causing the drive shaft to come off the power transfer unit damaging the ptu output shaft. This vehicle, purchased new, has been in the dealer's repair shop four times for this problem (it is there now). In the past three months, it has been in that shop 65 days (so far). They have replaced the power transfer unit twice, the front cv joint and steering gear shield. This vehicle is unsafe to drive a freeway speeds. The problem appears to be the same one affecting the 2018 and 2019 Jeep wrangler where the steering issues include shimmying, wobbling, looseness, and locking up. The Jeep dealer where purchased and repairs attempted is dick hannah Jeep, 3517 ne auto mall drive, vancouver, wa 98668.
Driveshaft has gone bad at 29,000 miles. Shudders at slow take off and driveshaft causes knocking sound from bottom of vehicle when accelerating.
Tl the contact owns a 2014 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated that the vehicle functioned abnormally. The vehicle jerked forward, the rpms raced, and the vehicle failed to shift from park into other gears intermittently. The vehicle had to be towed more than once to an independent mechanic. The mechanic replaced the driveshaft under warranty, but the failures recurred. The vehicle was towed to tuttle-click Chrysler Jeep Dodge ram (3840 auto center drive, irvine, CA 92618, 949-472-7400). The dealer replaced the wheel speed sensor and the driveshaft again, but the failures recurred shortly afterwards. The vehicle was towed by the contact and rendered unable to be driven. The manufacturer was notified of the failures and offered to trade in the vehicle. The approxiamte failure mileage was 43,989.

The cooling system was found to be under high pressure. The cylinder heads were removed because they were warped. The engine was replaced due to warpage. A bump is felt when coming to a stop. The rear driveshaft was replaced with revised parts per technical service bulletin. The rear end noise is still apparent. A new shaft and yoke were installed. In summer of 2000 driveshaft at rear universal joint snapped in-two. Again, in spring of this year same problem occurred. Both events replaced at dealer' s facility. Initial failure was a warranteed event second was at my cost. Today (6/11/01) the rear differential 'pinion' was found to be faulty. I truly think there is a metallurgical problem her. Dealer personnel are unable to provide causal information. So far no injuries or accidents resulting from these problems but clearly this is indicative of metallurgical failures.
Vehicle has had an on going problem since the 4th day after I bought it, it has a vibration at 55-65 mph. The tires have been balanced countless times, the drive shaft has been replaced the transfercase has been lowered, the wheels have been replaced, the tires were replaced, the transfer case has been overhauled countless times in at dealer to repair and still has not been corrected. Additionally brakes pads and rotors were replaced for a pulsation, transfer case output seal was replaced for a leak, and little odds and ends. ( dot number: tire size: p225/75/15 ).
