All of my problems started August 30, 2016 in national city California. I went out and started my car for a trip back to yuma, as I put it in to drive I got three loud noises like the car had been hit with a sledgehammer, I also had a loss of power. I had it towed into ????? Chrysler with transmission problems. Three days later they told me I had a bad one-year old battery. By the time I got out of there it cost me over $500. The battery did not solve the problem. I did not have the noise anymore but I had shifting problems. (36294 miles) my first time in the shop at ?????? was October 11, 2016. Followed by five more times. As of now it has been in the shop 19 days for transmission problems. Not making any progress. Last time in I took the drive with the transmission tech. I felt a little insulted. I brought him up to date of what has been happening in the past. I told him the problem we are having now is loss of power and hard shifting taking off from stop lights and stop signs. I told him I did not have any problems at highway speeds. The test drive consisted of a high-speed run down 32nd st. I pointed out to him a couple of hard shift his reply was this is normal for a nine-speed transmission. I have talked to a lot of people that have nine speeds and I totally got to disagree that that is normal.

I started my car and shifted it to reverse on a slight decline in my driveway. The car shook and made a strange noise. I pushed the accelerator and car rolled foward not doing anything. I shifted it back to park and the whole car shook again. I did it again from park to reverse to drive and it shook every time. The dash said service transmission and parking brake. I turned the car off and now it only has the service transmission light on. I tried again a day later and it does shift but makes a crunching sound under the clutch. I contacted Chrysler and they are calling me back with a case worker. My Jeep has 18000 miles on it. I have had no other issues except the delay from 2nd gear and the delay of the car taking off when you accelerate but I figured it was designed that way.

The contact owns a 2015 Jeep Cherokee. When the contact turned the ignition key to start the vehicle, it failed to start and the emergency brake stiffened. The vehicle started after several attempts and made a loud noise. An error message displayed on the instrument panel that read, "place the vehicle in park and then select desired gear", "service park brake", "service transmission". While driving approximately 15 to 20 mph, the gear suddenly shifted into neutral by itself and would not accelerate. The contact stated that the noise sounded and felt like the transmission was going to fall out of the vehicle. The failure recurred. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that eight modules needed to be updated. The eight modules were updated, but the failure recurred. The vehicle was not repaired. The VIN was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 16v529000 (power train). The manufacturer was not notified. The approximate failure mileage was 13,000.
I have a 2014 Jeep Cherokee. 3 recalls (shifting, wipers and lift gate) still waiting on the parts for the lift gate. Massive shifting issues. Low speeds transmission slams into the lower gear and hesitates to shift in a higher gear. Sitting in a line the car will jump forward even with foot on the brake. Driving approx. 60 mph on interstate rounded a curve, the transmission did a weird noise and the whole car shifted to the right, the car slammed into the lower gear, almost loosing control. If you do not come to a full stop before trying to accelerate, there is a 2 to 5 second hesitation before it will downshift and go forward. I have almost gotten into several accidents because of this. Driving down a street at approx. 25 miles per hour the car accelerated then downshifted almost immediately causing a whip lash effect. I have had it looked at the dealer every time I have taken for a oil change and they say Jeep knows it a problem but don't know how to fix it. They do updates on the system but nothing has helped. This last time made it worse. How long does Jeep have to "know" a problem exists before they fix it or buy them back? does someone have to die? it has been very close several times. There have been so many incidences its hard to pick just one. This has been a constant problem since the first "update" about 6 months after I bought the vehicle. I have a special needs child, I don't have the money to try to trade this car off as upside down as I am. . . I need some help.
I keep having hard shifts that jolts my car forward while braking and accelerating. When it does this it make a loud noise and pushes the car forward a little. I have been having this problem for over a year even after I have taken it to the dealer for recalls on the transmission.
Vehicle will often surge when I'm trying to stop. I look for it now but it can still catch me off guard and it is difficult to stop sometimes. Feels like I won't be able to stop in time. Jeep also shifts real hard sometimes, causing vehicle to jerk hard. Strange revving noises when accelerating. I took vehicle to dealer that I bought it from, they charged me for recall and said they did the work. It has been a year and Chrysler is showing that the recall work has not been done. Case #32715454 but no refund and it seems that they have done nothing about the dealer. Fca customer assistance center.
When coming to a stop, most times the vehicle downshifts roughly. Sometimes, this causes the transmission to slam into a lower gear, thrusting the car forward. This also occurs when accelerating and shifting between gears 1,2 and 3. When accelerator is pressed to pass, occasionally a loud noise is heard almost like the car was slammed into gear. When climbing a hill, the vehicle wants to be in gear 3 or 4 which causes you to accelerate too slowly and waste gas. Vehicle has been back to dealer for a new upload which did nothing.
While driving home from work the vehicle jerked and the transmission service light came on. Once the light came on the vehicle would not drive faster than 10 mph and the rpm were at like 4000. The transmission has been weird since day one. I brought the vehicle in and they reprogrammed the computer. It still acted funny after the reprogramming. There were times I would be traveling on the highway and would lose any sort of accelerating when the gas pedal was pressed. It would then kick in all of a sudden. All the issues regarding the transmission and its shifting hard were told to the service tech and I was told they couldn't find the problem. Also the front end steering linkage makes very loud noises when turning the wheel from left or right. This was also explained to the tech who said he couldn't find the issue. Yet the truck still makes the noises anytime it does it. This is not something you expect to deal with after purchasing a new vehicle which is not 2 years old. Especially it is the reason I bought this so I wouldn't have to worry about spending money on an old car and for dependability.
While driving around the city of sf, I started to here a grinding noise. There are two thing that would stop it. First, would be an actually stop the vehicle when doing so it made a hard downshift noise and crunch. Second would be using the manual override on the transmission gear shift and shift the gears. Also while driving on the highway at 50 mph getting onto the bay bridge I hear a slight grinding noise that would only last for a few hundred feet.
When starting from a stop car hesitates or jerks, sometimes clunks or grinds. Does the same thing when trying to pass a vehicle, pulling out at a stop light does the same thing. I believe it could be the transmission as the car seems not to want to shift correctly and makes rough, jumpy grinding noises does this most of time time you drive it and has for along time.
Purchased a brand new 2015 Jeep Cherokee Friday August 28th. On August 30th with less than 300 miles on it my Jeep Cherokee's transmission seemed to fail going about 60 miles an hour on the highway the transmission abruptly slipped causing the vehicles rpms to spike near 4000 rpm. Along with an abrupt loss of speed. Transmission service light immediately illuminated. After exiting the highway and coming to a stop the transmission was making a horrible banging noise while trying to shift into first gear. I will be going to a dealership tomorrow to have it fixed since it is a Sunday. Only 300 miles on the vehicle! I'm scared to drive it.
I have been consistently having transmission issues with my Jeep Cherokee 15' to include but not limited jumpy, lurching and rough shifting during acceleration and deceleration, inconsistent acceleration, grinding/clicking noises during automatic shifting and delayed shifting. The rough shifting, lurching and jumpiness is noticeable on city streets and at low speeds in my parking garage. The delayed shifting has happened on city streets. The inconsistent acceleration is noticeable at highway speeds along with erratic shifting patterns that are unpredictable. The scariest thing about this transmission is its tendency to lurch forward when I try to park my car, when I am stopped at a red light or when I start my car and head out of my parking garage.
Tl- the contact owns a 2015 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated that while driving 5 mph the transmission slipped and the rpm increased significantly. The transmission failed to respond. Also, there were repeated attempts before the gear lever shifted into drive. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where the transmission was replaced. However, the failure recurred and the vehicle was not repaired for a second time. The contact mentioned that the sun roof rattled making a loud noise while driving. The vehicle was not repaired for the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 3,173. Ad.
I have experienced violent crashing noises/feelings under certain conditions while driving my v6 Cherokee trailhawk. I first experienced it at around 1000 miles, then again this morning when I was able to repeat it. I got a violent crash and lurch, when I accelerated, let off, accelerated again, let off, and apply normal throttle to maintain speed. This can be a common occurrence, turning into traffic or maneuvering around other vehicles. I was able to repeat it over and over again, by simply doing a hard acceleration from stop, letting off the gas, and then hard acceleration again, and then applying normal throttle input. Rpms go wild, sometimes get up to 6000, and it smashes into 4th gear. It's startling and I have minimal control over vehicle speed while it's doing this. I also get rough shifts and overall I'm very uneasy about the reliability of this car.
The contact owns a 2014 Jeep Cherokee. While driving 30 mph, an abnormal noise emitted and the transmission shifted into neutral independently. The instrument panel illuminated. The contact shut the vehicle off and was able to restart it, but the failure persisted. The vehicle was towed to a dealer. The vehicle was not diagnosed; however, the technician cleared the vehicle's computer codes. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 17,000.
Vehicle makes a loud whistling noise when the vehicle starts up, is idle, and when it accelerates vehicle also jerks when it shifts gears.
Tl-the contact owns a 2015 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated various incidents while driving at various speeds she notice the front wheel wobbs while driving. The transmission will jerk as if its in neutral, she also stated the vehicle doesn't shift gears effectively and the vehicle accelerates on its own while in park. There was an abnormal noise coming from the front end of engine when changing gears. The vehicle was taken to dealer where it was diagnosed that th vehicle cannot be repair because parts are univalable. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 6,000. Ng.
Purchased vehicle Nov 2014, shortly after I noticed it would shift irregularly and the vehicle tended to cruise on its own when off the gas. What made me take to the dealer was I noticed that when coming to a stop, the rpms of the engine will increase and cause the car to start going faster while applying the brakes. So I took to the dealer. Dealer did not investigate the issue. They preformed software updates. None fixed the issue. Time passed, the Jeep started to develop more noises in the transmission, it started to put gears harshly so I took it to the dealer again after it continued to do the same issues. Dealer claimed there was an issue with the transmission and it was replaced along with updates. New transmission and same issues. Jeep tries to cruise when off the gas, tries to accelerate when slowing or braking, rpms go up when slowing, noises coming from the transmission, irregular shifting, does not feel like a new car. Took to the dealer about 3-4 more times since transmission swap for software updates and nothing got better. The Jeep is actually getting worse. Now it has starting slamming in gears when coming to a stop, has some sort of wobble when accelerating, noises from the front (sounds like clutches slipping or something) and dealer has no fix. I had a ride along with dealer rep and they claim its normal for the vehicle, that its software and I must wait for updates. It is now oct 20, 2016 and I have lost countless time and money trying to get this Jeep correct. I have tried to get the dealer to give me my money back and they do not. I opened a case with fca when transmission was swapped and they have not helped to get out of the car. Why should I be stuck with a faulty and dangerous vehicle? fca and dealer should be held responsible for the sale of a faulty vehicle and refund me in full. The vehicle should be considered a lemon from day one.
Started car in the garage, put the car in reverse and the dash lights were blinking and the radio display flashed and said service trans and the service trans stays lit. Had the car towed to the fuller dealer on rt 22. Somerville NJ. Got the car back 8/8/14. The transmission continues to give me problems while shifting. At time I can step on the gas to accelerate and the car doesn't move than all of a sudden will rush forward. Slowing down and going around a turn is the worst because stepping back on the gas the car feels as if it's going to stop then at once it will rush forward as if I was stepping on the gas all the way to the floor. Had the car back and on 8/21 was pulling out of the driveway at work and heard a terrible grinding noise and lost ability to steer the car. Had it towed and the dealer called the next day to tell me that the left front axle had snapped and was probably a defective one from the manufacturer. I want to get rid of the car because I don't feel safe driving it. I'm afraid if I ever need to step on the gas to get out of the way of something, I will not be able to and will be involved in an accident. Terrible transmission and will be discussing my concerns with my lawyer.
Car was purchased brand new in March of 2014. Has consistently had issues with the transmission. Car shift hard (in the lower gears), transmission makes loud noises, and has repeatedly jerked forward when downshifting. There have been a few times where I nearly rear ended another vehicle due to this. Have had the car back to the dealer for all recalls and transmission software updates as required. I am currently at 75,000 miles and now the car is randomly stalling when slowing down or backing out of my driveway. I am going to be taking it to the dealership in two weeks when I am on vacation to see what the issue is. Very unsafe vehicle!.
The new 9-speed transmission on the vehicle shifts very poorly. Very harsh shifts at slow speeds from 1st to 2nd gear. There has been a few times when the car did not want to shift out of first and when it did, it slammed real hard into second gear. Also, car will not shift into 9th gear unless you are coasting downhill and going over 70 mph and when it does, there is a clunking noise. Also when driving and need to accelerate suddenly, there is a very large lag time from when you step on the gas pedal and when the car reacts about 4-6 seconds.
Grinding noise in front end, shifting hard with loud clunking noise, high pitch squeal when cold, engine miss when drive like a shutter, shift the car in drive - car went into drive but wouldn"t engage and dash was flashing like the computer didnt know what it was doing, exhaust sputtering noise,.
2014 Jeep Cherokee. Consumer writes in regards to transmission problems. Very shortly after the vehicle was purchased, the consumer noticed spots on the driveway, which then progressed into a horrible whining and grinding noise. The vehicle started to shift erratically and the consumer did not feel she had control of the vehicle. The consumer made an appointment with the dealer, and after having the vehicle for a day, she was informed the entire transmission needed to be replaced. The dealer explained to the consumer, that part of the transmission was porous, which explained the stains on the driveway in multiple spots. The transmission was replaced under warranty.
2014 Jeep Cherokee latitude has had transmission problems since I bought it. Did one software update on 12/2014 which did not fix the problem. Another software update was performed on 05/14 but has not resolved the issue yet. Car jerks in low gears (1-3) but now it also makes a metallic noise when going from p to r and into d modes. It is also jerking when I apply the brakes and the engine starts downshifting. Both software updates have not resolved the problem, but the last one ( transmission TSB 21-018-14 flash) has added new problems to the car.
Severe brake problems with 2000 Jeep Cherokee. There was an ongoing braking problem and difficulty diagnosing the problem. The problem was thought to be the rotors which were cut and replaced (the front pads). The problem still continued. Then the front rotors were diagnosed as being warped and the brakes were 50% worn. There was a tapping noise in the shifting area as well as a rubbing noise in the steering column that comes and goes. (unable to diagnose) the vehicle had been diagnose as the rear brake drums being out of round. The water pump leaked and was replaced along with the thermostat. The comsumer requested a refund.
