The "svc 4wd" indication light comes on and off over that last 3 weeks. At times on the hightway I hear a loud noise with vibration, and loss of powe when driving. I took my 2019 Jeep Cherokee to Chrysler Dodge Jeep ram fiat of morgantown on 10/13/2025 for diagnostic inspection for this issue. The dealership advised that I needed to replace ptu assembly. There is currently a recall NHTSA 25v-011 (oem 01c) of which Jeep Cherokee's built between 10/11/2016 and 02/20/2019 were affected. Recall cites this issue may cause vehicle to crash or injure others outside the vehicle. My vehicle was built 03/18 (within the timeframe), however, my VIN number does not return as having any recall notices, even though I am experiencing the exact issues described in the recall. I would request an investigation into whether my vehicle should be included for this issue. My vehicle is available for inspection upon request.

The ptu and ptu actuator have failed. The repair is estimated to be app $3000 at a local independent repair shop. The parts are unavailable to do a timely repair. We still have to drive it because it cannot be repaired until parts are available, we were told it could be months because there are so many Jeeps failing from the same thing. ( "a similar repair was done today after waiting for 3 months for parts"- bob from donelinger in cohasset, mn) we may be in danger every time we use the Jeep but have no choice with it being needed for our transportation. The 4wd service lights are on or blink all the time. We only have 85,000 miles on this Jeep we have had since we purchased it new. Please help speed up parts availability and a recall on these Jeeps.
A "4wd unavailable, service needed" light came on. I took it to a Jeep dealership. They inspected and notes were "failure is inside the ptu. Part is on backorder with no eta at this time. " this description exactly fits the description of "part 573 safety recall report 25v011".
Vehicle has been turning off while driving after pressing on the brakes. The dashboard will flicker/glitch, then the battery will go from 13. 9v all the way up to 15. 2v then back down then turn off. No service light or battery light will come up, I have taken it to auto zone and they said everything is fine with the battery/alternator. When the car shuts off, I have to press the start button, then shift into park and then press start again for it to work, if I shift it into park immediately when it turns off the car will not turn back on and I cannot shift gears.
Service 4wd warning appeared 9/2025 on my 2020 Jeep Cherokee limited with 37500 miles. Took it to my local mechanic. They suspected the ptu was the problem and advised to take it Jeep dealer as it should be covered under warrantee. However the car was put into service in 2019 so warrantee has expired. Dealer advised ptu repair ~$3000 but part is back ordered. I see a lot of complaints on this site for this same issue. This was a recall up to year 2019 Jeeps.

My 2015 Jeep Cherokee VIN [xxx] threw a code on the ptu. I saw that it had a extended warranty on the car. When I took it to the dealer they informed me that car was imported to canda when bought. The car was brought back to united states work was done on the powertrain twice while the car was in us and extended warranty was then issued for the ptu. The dealer told me the car was pending a recall as of yet the VIN was not issued for recall. When I contacted Chrysler they informed that since the car was imported to canada that warranty was voided. If possible to know if my car is coming up on recall list. Or if I can get further assistance in this issues I never know that a car can get imported to canada then back to us would have these issues. I was not informed by the dealer that I bought the auto from that the car was imported from canada I never know that it would be an issues on this matter I wouldn't have bought the car had I known this issues I would be facing . Any help or guidance in this matter would be appreciated. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

Vibrating issue and missing fire originating from engine. Intake camshaft broken and left cylinder head is damaged and needs replacement. This should not be happening to this car. Cannot drive a faster rate either. There should be a claim out for all these issues.
Rear diff. Tries to lock up while driving in auto mode and should not on dry pavement. Grinding noise until you slow down enough to engage with a bang. This is a known problem with Jeep, the internet has several complaints about this problem, our Jeep only has 75k miles on it and others reported with only 40k. I've been told rear diff. Needs to be replaced at 4k$.
1. Vehicle dash lights go out intermittently without warning. 2. Vehicle 4wheel system inoperable at times. Warning lights are present.
We have had the vehicle inspected by 2 different mechanics, both confirming our ptu is failing. My wife and I have a toddler and this is our only vehicle; while we’re driving the vehicle to and from work, and going to get groceries sometimes the car will start flashing “esc off” and will stop while we’re driving. Almost like the car has slammed on its breaks. This has happened while we’re going 10mph and happened going 40mph. Of course this puts not only us as risk of serious harm or death, but the other drivers on the road if our car decides to slam on its breaks and someone hits since this happens out of nowhere. Again, this issue has been confirmed my two separate independent service centers and two separate dates. The vehicle has not been inspected by manufacturer, insurance representatives, or police except for the two separate mechanics we took our vehicle to. 1 week before this issue began the esc off button started flashing which we immediately took it to the repair shop a few days later and was diagnosed with a failing ptu. This car is incredibly dangerous to drive and each time we drive it — it feels like a death sentence.
When driving the Jeep Cherokee (51,000 miles), I experienced numerous incidents where the car experienced sudden power loss climbing a grade followed almost immediately by numerous warning lights and a message that "4wd system unavailable" as well as a message that the forward warning system had failed. Under these conditions, the car struggled to make even 50 mph and would only do so in a much lower gear at 4000+ rpm. Prior to each incident, the car had been driving smoothly at 70 mph at approx 2200 rpm. Both the Jeep dealer and the local repair obtained the same error code (dtc c14a7-97 ptu motor component) indicating internal failure of the ptu (transfer case). When the repair shop removed the transfer case they found metal shavings in the ptu lubricant. With no ptus available from the Jeep dealership for months it was necessary to purchase a salvaged ptu at near-new pricing. I note that there is a similar recall but it does not cover my vehicle. I also note there are numerous NHTSA complaints for identical problems being filed nearly daily for 2017-2021 Jeeps. This defect is a serious safety issue that can result in complete driveline failure or an inability to maintain speed with traffic. It also results in approx $5000-7000 in repair costs for each ptu replacement.
My service four-wheel-drive light came on when I had the code read. It was obstructed and or blocked the dealership informed me I needed to have a new transfer case and I see all the existing recalls on my exact vehicle and they’re having the same problems and the part that I need for my car is backordered for a long time. I paid for a new transfer case with no time frame as to when they are getting them in.
The car is in the shop for defective rear diferential. Once replaced the car now throws a code for the tpu being defective. Jeep issued a recall in Jan 2025 for the tpu components on Jeep Cherokee 2017-2019. The VIN for my Jeep is not showing as part of the recall. I want to report my car so it can be added to the recall.

I took to non dealer for diagnosis- stated it is a known issue in Jeep Cherokee, transfer case internal failure. I verified online there is a recall for faulty power transfer (25v011000. ) but my VIN is not reflected. I believe my VIN should be included in the recall and was omitted. My vehicle was showing signs of problems and has been diagnosed as needing a new ptu and rear differential. These are both well known issues of recall id 01c, but my VIN was not included in the recall. I was not aware of the issue and am concerned because this is a definite safety issue.

I need my VIN added to the recall list as my vehicle is within the group of affected vehicles, I've been informed by my dealership that this vehicle is at risk of freezing up at any moment due to this condition which is a safety concern. The ptu is an extremely expensive repair.

The vehicle was not taken to the dealer or an independent mechanic to be diagnosed; however, the contact was informed that there was no recall on the VIN. The vehicle was not repaired. The service 4wd light is on. The dealership said it is a ptu problem. They want $2500 for a new ptu and of course add more money for labor. This seems to be a manufacturer problem not a car owner problem. It should be a recall item as it has been for 2017-2019 Jeep Cherokees. The dealer should fix this at no cost to the auto owners.
There is a pending recall on this vehicle for the past 8 months. There is still no remedy. My trade-in value has plummeted. I'm experiencing issues related to the ptu recall, and the dealership is telling me there is no known remedy. The vehicle randomly loses drive power / gains drive power. They know the ptu is what is likely wrong with the vehicle, but are refusing to fix the issue, because the recall doesn't have a remedy yet. How long does it take for a manufacturer to find a fix for this? Jeep should be responsible for paying / fixing this recall, yet they aren't because there isn't a remedy.
