As I drove my Jeep Cherokee limited up my very steep driveway in the berkeley, CA. Hills the transmission failed, red lights came on flashing messages and the car went into neutral and rolled backwards down hill. I almost went off a canyon rd. But I put on emergency brake and jumped out! then I had problems geting it taken back to dealer who sold it to me. Now it is in a Jeep dealer where they are installing anew transmission. No one at Chrysler will call me back or my mother who bought me the car. They told her to file a calif. Lemon law form but that u have to wait for 3 incidences to occur. My mother said she is not waiting for me to roll down the canyon and be killed in order to get our money back. This is very serious and Chrysler doesn't care. The NHTSA should order a recall of this car before someone is killed.
Transmission failed to shift. Check engine light on, service transmission message displayed.
While leaving the neighborhood my wife's Jeep transmission failed. The entire dashboard lit up like a christmas tree and stated 'service transmission immediately'. She was driving at 30 mph and the transmission went into 'neutral' and she drifted off to the right turn lane. This is the second transmission that has failed in this SUV in 18 months of ownership. We don't feel that Jeep can adequately fix the transmission to a level where I would ever feel safe putting anyone in the SUV again.

Vehicle transmission failed (would not move) 7/5/2015. After two trips to the dealership, car went into shop 7/17/2015. Car was returned 8/13 supposedly repaired. Transmission failed 8/14 and dealer picked up car 8/15. To date, October 21, 2015, the vehicle remains at the dealership. The dealer told us that 1 in 10 of the 2014 transmissions had failed. A new transmission could not be located because they were going into new cars and the supply to repair the 2014 was low. Chrysler has failed to comply with arkansas lemon law to repurchase the vehicle.
On an interstate highway, on a slight uphill incline at 70 miles per hour, surrounded by other traffic including semitrailers, the Jeep abruptly lost forward power, acting like it has shifted into neutal. This loss of power was accompanied by flashing dashboard indications of transmission failure and by horrific clunking sounds and shudders from underneath. I was able to drift, miraculously, to the shoulder without being killed. Eventually restarted and limped to a dealer. Dealer kept Jeep two days, said they replaced a "control module", and that it was fixed. Not so. About thirty days later, and within a week of having the Jeep checked over at a different dealer, it happened again, this time at about 25 mph in a residential area down a gentle decline. Jeep had no suggestions for me other than tow it somewhere. Lost a full workday messing around with them seeking a solution. Now, days later, I have no communication from the dealer or from Chrysler/Jeep except an email saying that the dealer had discovered "codes". No word on what is wrong with this transmission, or whether Jeep can actually fix it or merely keep towing it after it leaves me on the side of the road or gets me killed or worse. Completely unreliable, unsafe, and apparently irreparable. Chrysler/Jeep needs to get this junk off the road before someone gets killed!.
Car transmission failed, causing us to get hit numerous times. Can not accelerate when necessary, sometimes it will go fine and other times gas pedal floored and go no where.
Driving on parkway and 2014 Cherokees transmission failed. Truck went into neutral and luckily coasted to side of road. The truck had numerous lights on dash flashing. After a few minutes of failed attempts to get into gear, I shut truck off and restarted. The truck then was able to get into gear, and brought to dealer. It's been 10 days and the truck is waiting for a new replacement transmission. Unfortunately it is on back order and they can't give me an answer when one will be available.
Transmission failed at 1,000 miles. Dealer replaced with a redesigned version. I started to get a wobble in the front end while I was accelerating. I brought it back and they said that it was a known issue and they were redesigning the front axles but the fix wasn't out yet. A few weeks later the metal frame in my sunroof broke and the weather stripping fell out and I couldn't close the shade. They informed me that the entire sunroof assembly had to be replaced because the frame was defective. The wobble continued to get worse and the car was shifting rougher than ever. I kept telling the dealership that there was something wrong, and they said "that's how the new 9 speed trans behave". When I brought the car in for the sunroof replacement I asked them to look at the wobble and trans again, and they informed me that the front axle was indeed bad. They put in the redesigned axles, and replaced the entire sunroof. I continue to have serious transmission issues and they put in a new valve body and updated the software. It's worse than ever. I kept complaining to Jeep and all they said was "the dealership can't replicate your problem. " I actually had the service manager in the car with me and he verified that the car does not drive properly- and when Jeep called me, they told me that I had to go to another dealership. This car is not safe. It hesitates when you step on the gas, then it jerks very hard into second gear, it will accelerate on it's own because it can't find a gear to downshift, and the engine will spontaneously rev on it's own if I am descending a hill and its trying to downshift. The car will leap forward and accelerate until I press the brake hard enough to slow it down and it will finally shift. The rpms will go up for several seconds after I've applied the brake. The vehicle also rolls several inches after I put it in park now.
After doing the Jeep Cherokee power train recall for the transmission my car would only drive from a flat surface to a hill at 20 mph and then drift slowly down speed wise. After getting to a flat surface I was able to get the car up to a speed of 40 mph and then let off the gas at which time the car started to grab and slow quickly by 10 mph and the rpms went from 4 to 1 and there was a huge bang underneath my car. Took the car to get serviced based on the check engine light saying for a start stop systen failure (2nd check engine light for this problem). The dealer told me that the new recall would have to take time on the computer to readapt to driving tendencies of the driver according to Jeep but would be happy to test drive it for me. In a matter of 30 minutes I was given a call that I had a transmission failure and needed a new transmission. I was given a rental no other information and sent on my way. I think to only have 2600 miles on a 2015 Jeep Cherokee that I bought in November is a shame and Jeep and Chrysler should be ashamed. Talking about a $30,000 car to have to have a new transmission installed at only 2600 miles makes me worried when my bumper to number expires what could I have to replace to keep it on the road.
Since the first day we owned this care the shifting seemed not quite right. There were several times the transmission revved before engaging when shifting from reverse to drive. Recently a recall was issued with regards to the transmission and the computer software. After getting the vehicle serviced for the recall, the shifting issues became worse and now pose a safety concern. During low speed driving on our inclined gravel driveway we experienced loss of power and rapid drop in rpms momentarily. Also while pulling out into highway and accelerating, the transmission failed to shift with the rpm's rose to 5000 which failed to allow us to get up to the speed of the adjacent traffic. We took the vehicle in again for service and we were told all parameters were within specifications and there was nothing more they could do at this time.

Problem: driving down i79 clunk sound "d" on shifter starts blinking service transmission message appears service parking brake appears mil check engine light comes on esc indicator light comes on *pulled off to the side of the interstate turned car off, then back on repeated 4 times drove to a safe location called roadside assistance had car towed to dealership this is the second time this car has had a transmission failure on the interstate at 70 mph. I am now scared of this car. This is unacceptable and disappointing for a new $34,000 vehicle with 15,601 miles on it. First time this happened and was serious enough to complain about was Dec. 14, 2014.

On 09th July 2014, I bought a Jeep Cherokee 2014 at united cars al mana airport showroom qatar. Unfortunately, the product Jeep Cherokee is not usable according to the following: on Friday 14th November 2014 07:00 pm, the car completely shut down without any prior warning or alert messages, dashboard shows (Smart key failure, steering columns is not locked as stated on the repair order), despite several attempts to contact mopar road assistance, but the number given was wrong. After many trails I delivered the vehicle to the services at 11:30 pm. Two days later I got a phone call from service consultant stating that the car is ready for pick up; repair report indicated that the battery was faulty and has been changed. On 29th November 2014, the car breakdown and every single warning message have been appeared on the dashboard, then, I delivered the car by breakdown on a trailer. The warning message was ?transmission services?, the repair report stated that the dynamo has been changed only. On 7th December, 2014 exactly the same thing has happened with small change that time, the car delivered to me by extra error ?transmission performance failure?. Recently the complications begun to increase rapidly, I delivered the car for the fourth time to services. ? on 31st January, 2015 I delivered the car to the services by transmission problem. ? on 02nd February, 2015, I received same phone call, one day later the car completely stopped in the middle of the road. On 7th February, 2015, I met the service manager and he promised to solve the transmission issues as they received bulletin by the faulty part from Chrysler USA because it's a known problem. On 09th February, 2015, I received a call from their engineer asking me to go to dealers workshop because new software just received. The car was delivered on Saturday 14th February, 2015.
The contact owns a 2014 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle decelerated as the check engine warning indicator illuminated. The failure recurred numerous times. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the transmission failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was no repaired. I purchased a 2014 Jeep Cherokee , at approx. 340 miles my transmission failed going through a very busy intersection . I had a loss of power ,the dash started flashing service transmission ,stability track warning came on and on shift panel the light next to drive was flashing , accelerator was mushy. Rolled to side of road where safe , put car in park , called for help. After in park for a few minutes tried to engage drive and it work , but car had too much power and was over reving . Dealership had it towed , and seemed to fix issue. Then again at 1341 miles I had same issue but was not able to drive it but this time I was almost hit by a large tractor who didn't realize I lost power , I have a small child that is not even two years old yet in the car!!!!!!!! . At this point dealership is working on it and replacing the transmission modular , but very wary of keeping this vehicle , have a few trips schuedule very very soon and do not want to be out of cell phone range and have same issue, or worse yet have a tragic accident .
I had multiple cases of the car not moving in the morning (engine is fine). It felt as if a clutch was slipping. The first 2 times the dealer couldn't reproduce the problem. The 3rd time he reproduced the problem - and replaced the transmission valve-body and performed adaptive learning. This took nearly 2 weeks. A week later - the transmission failed near the summit of mt. Washington nh. My wife was driving and she felt that the car had no power - the gear was in manual, 1st gear. I turned the car back down and started descending. There seemed to be no engine braking and the brakes started to smoke and loose grip. I had to stop numerous times to let the brakes cool. The car is back at the dealers. They have been able to reproduce the problem - Chrysler advised them to put grease on a connector and drive the car a bit. If the problem doesn't repeat - they want to return the car to me as is. Chrysler's incompetence will get someone killed - this could happen crossing a railway. Turning left at a traffic light, or going down a long descent.
The contact owns a 2014 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated that the transmission failed to shift properly and there was constant unintended acceleration when the gears changed. While changing gears to pull into the driveway, the vehicle surged forward into the garage without warning. The contact applied the brake pedal with force when the failure occurred. The vehicle was taken to the dealer more than five times, but they were unable to replicate and diagnose the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure continued at random. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was not available.
Transmission failure 3 times in the first 3000 miles. First failure was while stationary. Second was at approx 30mph and 3rd at approx 65mph. Failure is unpredictable and causes immediate drop in speed which could result in an accident. Car was 'fixed' by Jeep dealer each time, car failed in same manner all 3 times.
Transmission failed to shift while placing vehicle in reverse to park it. After few attempts including shutting the engine off vehicle made a loud sound an abrupt movement to the rear.

Transmission mount failed. Mjs.
Initial fuel tank assembly failure 5/98 occurred at freeway speeds on highway overpass 680/24 walnut creek, CA. Vehicle ran out of gas even though gauge indicated fuel level above 1/8 tank. Created hazardous traffic backup for several miles on southbound interstate 680 requiring police assistance. Subsequent problems with replacement fuel tank assemblies 3/29/99 and 8/30/99, currently unresolved. Transmission failure affected drivability requiring replacement 8/30/99. Began experiencing dangerous engine and electrical problems, including abrupt check engine light preceding engine bucking, severe engine surging, followed by loss of power, near stall at 35 mph, radio and power window failure 8/23/99, creating hazardous situation for vehicle occupants and other drivers on road. The fuel assembly fuse failure on 11/1/99 occurred at freeway speed in rush hour traffic on eastbound highway 4 in martinez near pacheco blvd. Off-ramp with absolutely no warning. Loss of engine, power steering, power brakes at this speed and traffic conditions created potential for fatal collision involving multiple vehicles. Vehicle at lehmer's dealership from 11/1/99-11/5/99. Dealership failed to duplicate, locate, or repair failure. Vehicle released on 11/5/99. The second fuel system fuse failure occurred without warning on 11/6/99, on westbound ygnacio valley, a secondary 4 lane road at 45 mph speed, again creating a potentially hazardous situation. Police called to prevent possible collisions while waiting for tow. Due to these recurring and unresolved service problems we have lost all faith in the safety of this vehicle. We refuse to put our family or other drivers at risk and wish to file a formal complaint with the NHTSA and to pursue resolution of this matter under the lemon law. We purchased this vehicle in good faith, but cannot in good conscience sell it or trade it in due to the potential for loss of life in its current condition.
