36 Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem of the 2015 Jeep Cherokee

Failure Date: 10/23/2017

Transmission has failed 3 times in the last 2 months. Once it finally enabled me to put it in drive it would not shift gears right. The highest it would go is 3rd out of 9. It jerks forward on all gear changes. The service transmission warning keeps flashing. Prior to this the auto start /stop feature failed to function. The local Jeep dealer has tried to repair this 3 times for us. We are the 2nd owner. The first owner had the same issues. The original owner had the transmission replaced. We were never told of the lemon "buy back" when we bought the car.

37 Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem of the 2015 Jeep Cherokee

Failure Date: 10/07/2017

My Jeep Cherokee has the 9 speed transmission. I went to start the car it took several times to start when it did the car dropped hard into gear and all of the service trans lights came on and it was very difficult to get home as the car was having a very hard time getting into gear and stayed in 2 wheel drive mode. I had the car towed to the dealership and they told me my drive tran warranty covered the cost and I just needed a software update. Four days later I was driving with my husband and 8 month old baby and while stopped at a stop sign the car died and again took several times to restart, all trans lights came on and could not get into gear, we had to drive slowly home with our hazards on and nearly got into an accident when trying to merge into traffic when it kept slipping out of gear.

38 Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem of the 2014 Jeep Cherokee

Failure Date: 07/08/2017

5 times now the car will not move it says check transmission this has happened in middle of highway and in the middle of town in traffic Chrysler has reset and replaced transmission modules and it is still doing it! this is very dangerous! on the road you slow to a stop it idles down and goes to check transmission and will not move either get it pushed out of the way or had to roll backwards out of traffic at a light. Once had to push across 4 lanes of road to get out of traffic again rolled up to a stop it lt would not go into gear forwards or back!.

39 Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem of the 2014 Jeep Cherokee

Failure Date: 06/20/2017

Transmission issues and traction control. Lurches forward, shakes when taking off, hesitates when taking off (sometimes 10 seconds or more) then kicks into gear really hard. Traction light comes on and have reduced power, rpms are very high but the car just doesn't want to go. Sometimes will tell me to put the car in park then shift to desired gear. The trans will not go into gear. It left me stranded alone on a major road late at night. When it arrived at the dealership, they couldn't find anything wrong with it. It has spent over a month at one dealership. Been in multiple times for the trans and they do an update and say its all good. This car has put me in quite a few near misses. You never know when you are not going to have the power you need. The times I have experienced the problems, it didn't matter if I was turning or driving a straight line. This has been going on with my vehicle for 2 years. They performed a recall that was supposed to fix it but I did nothing. Its almost like it got worse.

40 Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem of the 2014 Jeep Cherokee

Failure Date: 04/23/2017

Approximately 1 week upon receiving my trailhawk I began having trouble with the transmission jerking when I would accelerate. I took my vehicle back to the dealer but they said nothing was wrong with the vehicle. Since that date I have returned the vehicle on the following dates for the same issue: 08/03/2015san marcos Jeep service 2990 s. The shift gear to park and service transmission lights came on. I was stranded, alone with my son, in the middle of the road. With fear of being rear-ended, I had to put my hazards on and exit the vehicle with my toddler in tow. I contacted my aaa and they were able to tow the vehicle to the nearest Jeep dealer for inspection and repair. The Jeep dealer had my vehicle for 13 days while it made the necessary repairs. Once again, I was alone with my son on April 23, 2017 when the vehicle failed to work safely/correctly in a busy intersection. The trailhawk gives no warning that this is about to happen. The vehicle had the same lights come on and refused to move forward.

41 Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem of the 2016 Jeep Cherokee

Failure Date: 04/16/2017

During an out of town trip (highway) drive with the family on easter Sunday, my 2016 Jeep Cherokee limited transmission suddenly locked into 8th gear and wouldn't accelerate past 2000 rpms. Check engine light and "service transmission" appeared on the control panel. In order to not be stranded, we drove the car in 8th gear for 3. 5 hours back home. Car would not change gears, nor accelerate. We luckily were not involved in an accident. Upon arriving at the dealership (closed for holiday), another Jeep owner was there dropping off his car as his was stuck in 3rd gear and couldn't accelerate past 45 mph. The service department just called me back now (next day) and said that transmission error is a software problem and needs to be upgraded. Why would the car need an upgrade and make the transmission inoperable while I'm in motion inside the car? infuriating!.

42 Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem of the 2014 Jeep Cherokee

Failure Date: 12/10/2016

When driving at highway speeds or low speed on streets vehicle jerks and displays message "shift to paris then desired gear. " next message to be displayed is "service transmission. " driver has to pull over to shift to park. Vehicle transmission does not shift into gear for several minutes while check engine, and several other icons flash on instrument panel. Vehicle will then stall. After several minutes after power down vehicle, gear will engine and vehicle will run rough. Gears will not shift smoothly. Vehicle has 54,000 miles and has had gear box software flashed already once in the last 90 days.

43 Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem of the 2015 Jeep Cherokee

Failure Date: 11/23/2016

Car had run fine then we had parked outside a store, when we got back into the car it started fine but would not engage into gear, display stated service transmission and parking brake. Display then stated put car into drive when at 0 mph which we were. Could not drive car and had to be towed to nearest dealership. Day before whilst driving we had noticed a stumble in acceleration which felt like the vehicle was going to stall, that cleared up the next day until it broke down. Dealership stated it was the valve body failure and had to be replaced.

44 Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem of the 2015 Jeep Cherokee

Failure Date: 11/08/2016

Transmission shifts hard. Vehicle will lurch forward when shifting gears. Happens when stopped at a light and press the accelerator or when going slow (coming to speed bumps) and accelerating - vehicle will lurch. Purchased the vehicle (brand new) in October of 2015 and 3 days after purchase, the vehicle shut down at a stop light and transmission light came on. I restarted vehicle and had to "limp" it to my office where it was towed (30 miles) to the dealership. The rpms will race when shifting to another gear. One year after purchase, the transmission light came on again, the transmission was shifting hard, was able to limp it to the dealership. Dealer has completed flashes to the computer of the transmission. It's been 2 months since the last time I took it in for transmission and it's starting to shift hard and lurch again. This vehicle is unsafe and should be recalled by the manufacturer.

45 Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem of the 2014 Jeep Cherokee

Failure Date: 09/30/2016

After purchasing the new 2014 Jeep Cherokee latitude, I noticed that it had a rough time shifting. The transmission would shift violently from 2nd to 3rd gear and anytime you would stop on an incline. We have had all the necessary recalls done to the vehicle but it has continued to have the same problem. When communicating this issue to the dealership all I get is that we are not used to the 9 gear transmission and we need to get used to it. I will be taking it in for the fourth time to see if they can fix it. On a second note I have also had the vehicle taken in to the shop to see why the vehicle suddenly shuts off. This has also happened to us on several occasions, but when I take it to the dealership they tell me there is nothing wrong. This is a huge safety issue and concerns me. This would be a disaster if it happens to die when I am on the highway. I am very disappointed with this vehicle and more so with the way I am treated when I take it to the dealership. There is something seriously wrong with this vehicle and it needs to be addressed before people get injured.

46 Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem of the 2015 Jeep Cherokee

Failure Date: 09/24/2016

While driving the transmission shifts unexpectedly and hard when accelerating and decelerating. It shifted so hard the other day that I though someone had hit me! the shifting at slow speeds and stop and go traffic is also rough causing jolts and rough handling. I feel unsafe driving this SUV, but do not have any other mode of transportation. Additionally, while traveling at 55-60 mph with cruise control on or off, the transmission does not leave 6th gear. It's a 9 speed transmission and despite trying different speeds it does not use anything beyond 6th gear.

47 Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem of the 2016 Jeep Cherokee

Failure Date: 09/15/2016

The contact owns a 2016 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated that on several occasions while attempting to drive, the transmission failed to shift gears. The engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the software needed to be updated. The vehicle was repaired but the failure recurred. The contact stated that the vehicle was then taken back to the dealer where the dealer stated that they had no record of the software being updated. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. However, the contact stated that the manufacturer advised her to take the vehicle back to the dealer but did not offer any further assistance. The failure mileage was 21,000.

48 Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem of the 2016 Jeep Cherokee

Failure Date: 08/25/2016

I was pulling out of a parking lot on to a city street in the middle of school traffic. I pressed the accelerator and my Jeep bucked really hard. I tried to get it going but it would not go passed 1st gear. I basically coasted back to my home and called Jeep to have it towed to the dealer.

49 Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem of the 2015 Jeep Cherokee

Failure Date: 07/30/2016

I have a 2015 Cherokee trailhawk 3. 6l v6 love it except for the issues. This is my very first and very last fca Jeep product I will own unless this vehicle somehow becomes reliable. At 3,860 miles while driving my power windows failed it will not go up or down and my blind spot monitor which I paid extra for and depend on for added safety failed at the same time. I was heading to work and my windows will not operate and is stuck in the down position in a parking lot for 8 hours hoping no one would try to break in my car. Now my vehicle is at 13,600 mile and I'm starting to experience all the other owners transmission failure issues, but mine haven't happen enough for the dealer to attempt to fix it. While driving, the transmission will get stuck in a low gear and will not change even after heavy acceleration and then after about 6 seconds it will suddenly change and lunge forward. Other times the transmission will get stuck in a high gear and when I try to accelerate it will not drop a gear to accelerate and my wife avoid highways because she is afraid the vehicle will stall on an entrance ramp while merging. Another issue is when reversing from a cold start and then putting the vehicle in drive the vehicle seems to get stuck in either neutral or reverse because it will not go forward until I really punch the accelerator and then it will lung forward. My last complaint about this vehicle is minor but still and issue. The power lift gate will sometimes get stuck and not open until I try it a few times.

50 Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem of the 2014 Jeep Cherokee

Failure Date: 05/06/2016

Vehicle stalling while in motion,(feels like it shifts itself into neutral) only dash notification is saying to to place in park and shift to desired gear. This happened 3 times in 3 days, all three time my safety was at risk as you are unable to accelerate. I had to wait until it coasts to a full stop to shift to park and then several tries to restart vehicle, once started car still will not move when pressing gas pedal for few moments although rpms are at 5 or 6 like its not in gear. In all instances I was in traffic and almost rear ended by other vehicles. There is no warning lights or sounds that make you aware that an issue is happening so you can pull to safety. Jeep is in dealership now but am afraid they will tell me they cannot duplicate the problem, reflash the module and send me on the way. I have researched the problem and this is a common problem and common repair scenario at dealership but does not fix issue. I am afraid I will be rear ended by a fast moving vehicle as this has happened 2 times on the highway and once in middle of intersection. It is very scary when this happens as I have had my grandchildren in the vehicle 2 times when it occurred. I am very unhappy with this car as it is my first purchase not lease in 10 years. I don't know what I am going to do, still waiting to hear from dealership which is another issue as I took in yesterday at 7am and it is now the 2nd day at 9 am and nobody has called. I missed a day of work yesterday and have to go out of town for work for 2 days tomorrow. This report is my proof if I should be killed in my Jeep that theres an issue of it stalling in traffic and highway conditions.

51 Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem of the 2015 Jeep Cherokee

Failure Date: 04/21/2016

The transmission jerks sometimes upon starting; loses power at times going up hill; seems to decelerate or be out of the right gear. It may also lose power when making a turn into traffic when you put the foot on the accelerator. It does not seem to shift gears smoothly at times. It is scary when you are trying to accelerate and it loses power.

52 Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem of the 2014 Jeep Cherokee

Failure Date: 03/14/2016

I got a service parking brake message on the screen, the Jeep just stopped moving, engine still runs but will not shift gears. Once in heavy traffic! I turned the engine off and back on, I got a service transmission message. I put the Jeep in gear and it moved only have a loud jerk. It was towed to the dealer. They kept the car 2 days and called to tell me it was fixed. I picked it up and drove it one day, the next morning the exact same problem happened. I turned the engine off and back on and slowly drove it to the dealer. This time it stayed in the dealer's shop for 5 days. This vehicle is very unsafe. When the error message flashes on the screen the Jeep does not move, it does not coast to a stop so you can pull out of traffic, it stops dead right there. It doesn't matter if you are driving 5 mph or 70 mph, it does not move after getting the message. I feel very unsafe driving this vehicle now.

53 Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem of the 2015 Jeep Cherokee

Failure Date: 01/15/2016

Tl-the contact owns a 2015 Jeep Cherokee latitude. The contact stated that while driving 60 mph, the vehicle would not change gears when prompted and would not accelerate. In addition, there was a smell of burning rubber and a clicking noise that came from the transmission. The vehicle was taken to be diagnosed but the dealer could not duplicate the issue. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was 7,000. Ad.

54 Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem of the 2014 Jeep Cherokee

Failure Date: 12/15/2015

Major safety issue. My family and I were several close calls resulting from the faulty transmission. For example, nearly t-boned by oncoming traffic because the transmission did not shift into gear causing a hesitation (pausing the vehicle onto oncoming traffic). Several other times while approaching a red light, the Jeep would jump (yes, literally jump) forward nearly hitting car in front of us. Same thing in a drive thru bank or restaurant. Transmission issue began at 6,000 miles and was purchased on 10/4/2014 (within the 2 yr period and before 24,000 miles). I am clueless on what to do? I want to thank you again for your help and pointing me in the right direction if possible. . . For the record! the Jeep is not, I repeat not running correctly. In the last month, we were almost in three accidents. Is that what it is going to take, us to get injured or worse? two weeks ago we are approaching a red light and while approaching the car in front of me (about 3 mph) the light turned green. And the car jumped into gear almost hitting the car in front of me. If the car in front of me would not have sped up, we would have hit them. Please keep in mind, my foot was on the break while it was jumping fwd. I am no longer driving this Jeep till it gets fixed. I want you to know it is unsafe. Period. I am not going to put me. My fiance, and/or our kids any longer. Ever since corwin Dodge has put the new transmission in, the problem has worsened. The issue has been duplicated by service manager jd weatherfield the transmission problem has been diagnosed several times and updates were supposedly given??? please see attached the last 11 issues with transmission. Respectfully request a Chrysler buyback option. Lemon law. Thank you.

55 Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem of the 2014 Jeep Cherokee

Failure Date: 12/13/2015

Previous owner of '99 Jeep grand Cherokee for 13 years. Traded it on the 2014 Jeep Cherokee sport 3 months ago. During first month while driving up a mountain, vehicle started losing power and all of the warning lights and chimes came on at the same time along with wipers. Wipers were in the off position, so could not turn wipers off. Had to drive this way until I could reach auto parts store to get the fault codes read. Nothing showed up. Started back up, warning lights gone. Also, constant rough shifting in 1st, 2nd to 3rd gears. Often feels like car is in neutral- not in any gear for a few seconds while driving. At one point, transmission was slamming into gear around 27mph. Major hesitation when pulling out from stop. Concerns me that car is not going to move and that I might get hit by another car. Have to be very alert when driving this car and have to be constantly aware of what the transmission is doing. Transmission seems to be thinking about shifting and not doing anything for a few seconds while driving. At around 26 mph, if you take your foot off the gas, the vehicle actually speeds up. Not safe! called sales manager at dealership and was told that this is the way this computerized transmission is supposed to act and nothing that could be done but I can make an appointment if I wanted. The service tech repeated almost word for word what I was told by sales manager. Tech could not find anything wrong during test drive. Suggested I allow a sales person to drive it home that evening. Sales person must have noticed something since tech called to say they would be changing the shift point parameters and suggested sales person take it home again. Slamming into gear around 27mph stopped, but hesitation, speeding up when coasting and rough shifting has continued. Not liking this car at all! older is definitely better when it comes to Jeeps!.

56 Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem of the 2015 Jeep Cherokee

Failure Date: 10/25/2015

My vehicle continues to experience abnormalities. My vehicle is currently experiencing the following problems: jerking, no response to pressing pedal (lack of acceleration), not shifting gears or getting hung up on a gear, unintended fast acceleration (I. E. Depress the pedal lightly at a green stoplight, no response, go further, no response, then it reacts and tires squeal), unintended acceleration when coming to a stop (I. E. Coming off highway off-ramp, applying brake, engine still outputting power when trying to come to a stop and not pressing gas), a few times there has been complete loss of acceleration at highway speeds (have gone to switch lanes, try to accelerate, vehicle does not respond at all, keep trying to press, eventually loud clunk sound, vehicle jerks, and it will respond with major hesitation).

57 Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem of the 2014 Jeep Cherokee

Failure Date: 10/21/2015

Driving to work on hwy in heavy traffic I accelerated up a small hill car jerked then powered down on hwy at 65 mph I was able to coast over three lanes of traffic and pull off to side of road then noticed service transmission, check parking break, put car in park and then select gear all came on as messages also the traction control light came on. Put care in park and restarted engine all lights/messages still on dash and car would not go into gear for driving. Tried two more times and finally could drive under 50 mph straight to dealer for service. The check transmission light remained on during my entire drive to the dealership. I had previously experienced acceleration when in traffic coasting and my foot off gas pedal. Also hard shifting multiple times like it was skipping gears when accelerating. Very scary and unsafe situation to be in.

58 Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem of the 2014 Jeep Cherokee

Failure Date: 10/12/2015

Was driving in very busy town, luckily turning into a parking lot, Jeep had lost all power, and was showing engine light, etc light flashing, and traction control was shut off. Got the Jeep running again about 15 minutes later, auto zone was next door but they could not read the codes. Had to drive an hour to the closest dealership. Was told there was a recall that needed to be updated, was told to drive it so many miles to reset everything, then sent back on my way. The next day I was putting the required miles on it, it left me stranded on the side of highway with young child, got it to start again and made it back to park it the rest of the day. Next morning drove 1/4 mile down road and it had lost all power again. Called dealership to let them know I was bringing it back, Jeep would not go past 3rd gear, almost hit multiple times trying to get off the road. Got to dealership, they told me it is un-driveable after driving over an hour to get there, they had Jeep almost 3 weeks. Mileage was around 18,000. Would need to replace transmission, when they finally called to say it was ready, I was told it was bc it needed an oil change. . . With only 3500 miles on this change(feb2015-march2015). Now(oct2015) Jeep shows engine, etc, traction control, after turning at light in neighborhood. Took Jeep to new dealership, could not recreate problem, 3 days for diagnosis.

59 Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem of the 2014 Jeep Cherokee

Failure Date: 07/15/2015

A list of the current life threatening and non life threatening conditions I have encountered with my Jeep Cherokee trailhawk. The most serious being a persistent problem in relation to the transmission shifting and accelerating causing the car to jerk and in some cases whiplash. As an electrical engineer I have seen the electronic repairs made to the vehicle and yet there is still persistent mechanical problems with this transmission. I have encountered lint mode were the car will not move from gears 1, 2, or 3 on 65mph highway which I believe has caused irreversible damage to the car. The issue occurred in July on route 202 in a cattle shoot created by summer time road work I had to continue to drive the vehicle nearly 2 miles until I was able to pull over and asses the issue. Below is a list of current and past problems: -transmission stopped on a 65mph highway (new software loaded still a problem) -shifter locked in drive couldn't shift to neutral took 4 hours to shut car off at dealership (entire shifter replaced) - navigation (replaced two times, on my third nav system) - window motor mechanism (replaced) - moonroof shade and assembly (being replaced this week) -faulty wiring of cigarette lighter causing fuse to blow due to electrical short (rewired and fuse replaced) -speaker (replaced) -waterproofing trim falling off (replaced) -rattling from bolts for seat-belts (attempted fix didn't work) -O2 sensor causing multiple engine starts (replaced) -front seat uneven (replaced) -recalls ranging from hacking to electrical shorts that have been noted to cause a serious electrical fire.

60 Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem of the 2015 Jeep Cherokee

Failure Date: 06/25/2015

Purchased the Jeep in November 2014 brand new. First 6 or 7 months the vehicle performed fine. Around June/July 2015 some minor issues with the transmission in shifting and accelerating. As if the car could not find the gear and it was ¿lurching¿ when taking off from a stopped position. Also, when the car is in park and turned off, it rolls several inches before stopping. Due to having to travel across country in August, took vehicle in for service 9/5/2015 for an oil change and recall work on an unrelated issue. I asked about a recall that I heard about on the news for Jeep Cherokee transmissions and was advised there was a software update available for my Jeep. After the software update, advised to drive my car as normal and give it 100 to 300 miles for the software to ¿get used to my driving¿ and to settle in. Since that time, had a marked increase in transmission noise, shifting problems, lurching problems, and the vehicle rolling more when I stop. The Jeep seems to shift between first and second gear okay, but it regularly going over 3000 rmpss and higher to shift to all other gears. It is like it cannot find the gears and it getting stuck. There is also a good bit of noise with this that was not there. September 9, 2015, while merging onto 1-40, Jeep was having a hard time going from third to forth gear and then it could not hit another gear and the rpms reached 4500 before shifting. Almost got hit from behind by a huge moving truck! took back to dealership on 9/9/15. Since the transmission started acting up again. Jerky, shifting abruptly, not changing gears, gears catching and rpmss going into the 5000 & 6000 before shifting on acceleration. Took back in on 10/3/15. Since then, same transmission issues. Several severe incidents with the transmission not shifting, seizing up and lurching forward and gears not engaging. Took back dealership 11/16.

61 Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem of the 2015 Jeep Cherokee

Failure Date: 04/24/2015

I own a 2015 Jeep Cherokee 4x4 (2. 4l/4 cyl). I've been having issues with the new automatic 9-speed transmission. The vehicle will lunge forward while decelerating at speeds between 20-25 mph. Once the speedometer reaches 20 mph, the rpm's spike and vehicle accelerates (lunges) forward. In addition while accelerating to 55-60 mph the rpm's rev at a higher rate 3000-3500 rpm range and will not click into gear properly. I took my Jeep back to the dealer on 4-25-15 and after a test drive and diagnosis they decided to replace the transmission. I received my Jeep back on Monday may 4th and it still has the same problem. This is a safety issue and I am concerned about hitting another car while decelerating towards a stop light or stop sign. As soon as the Jeep hits 20 mph, the rpm's spike and car wants to go faster.

62 Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem of the 2014 Jeep Cherokee

Failure Date: 04/01/2015

I have had three recalls on this model. One for a transmission recalibration, one for a shock absorber, and one for an airbag. There is one outstanding for the liftgate but the parts are not available. ---I stopped at a stop sign on April 1, 2015 and turned right. The vehicle wouldn't accelerate and several icons appeared on the dash. I turned the vehicle off and on several times and shifted it in and out of gear several times. It finally went into gear and moved forward but was locked into about fourth gear. I travelled 15 miles to the nearest chysler/Jeep dealership for service. The dealership recalibrated the transmission. On may 29 and may 30 the parking brake and engine icon appeared on the dash and when I shifted the vehicle into gear it would not go out of gear because the parking brake was on. I pressed and released the parking gear several times and then it would go into park and I could shut the engine off. This happened several times in my garage. I called Chrysler/Jeep on June 5th at about 40,000 miles and had the vehicle towed to the closest dealership (where I had taken it before). The dealership replaced the transmission module. Two different times since the module was replaced there have been icons appear on the dash. I turn the vehicle off and on and the icons eventually disappear. The transmission is slow to engage after backing up and sluggish to shift when slowing to a stop and then moving forward.

63 Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem of the 2015 Jeep Cherokee

Failure Date: 03/01/2015

The contact owns a 2015 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to the dealer for the manufacturer's "long term reliability of the transmission/drive train performance" campaign. The vehicle was repaired under the reliability campaign and the dealer was to update/recalibrate the transmission. After the repair, while driving various speeds, there was a lag in acceleration when the accelerator pedal was depressed. The contact also noticed that the gears would not shift properly while driving uphill or at a traffic light and the vehicle would roll backwards independently. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where they stated that the transmission needed to be re-calibrated. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure persisted and became worse. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer where the transmission was re-calibrated again and eventually replaced; however, the failure persisted. The contact stated that the failure had not occurred until the vehicle was initially taken to the dealer. The manufacturer was notified of the failures. The approximate failure mileage was 3,200. The VIN was unavailable.

64 Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem of the 2015 Jeep Cherokee

Failure Date: 02/01/2015

Transmission down shifts on downhill at times. Rpm increases and vehicle speeds up before completing the down shift. The trans. Should not be down shifting on its own in this situation. This will be dangerous in snowy conditions, as the shift is unexpected. The trans. Is inconsistant on level driving. Sometimes it picks gear 7, other times it picks gear 8. This affects gas mileage and cannot be over ridden by using the manual shift mode. I am at the mercy of the transmission. The manual shift override is virtually useless. I cannot override the gear selected. The indicator show only shows the shifter actions. I does not indicate the gear you are actually in. The trans. Does not respond to manual shifting preferences. It will be dangerous in winter weather when you cannot depend on a manual downshift to maintain control of the vehicle. I am used to other manufacturers transmissions that lock in and hold the manual gear selected. I suspect that there will be Cherokee accidents in winter weather due to loss of control, because the transmission either has a mind of its own which is inconsistant, or because manual transmission control is ineffective, and nonresponsive.

65 Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem of the 2014 Jeep Cherokee

Failure Date: 01/15/2015

The transmission of my Jeep does work properly. It fails to shift properly, sometimes it is sluggish/ fails to go into gear as it should. It happens when I am just starting from a stop and when I am going down the highway. I have been to my Jeep dealership 4 times to have them repair this issue. They have updated the software. The problem still exists. I want fiat chyrsler to do the right things and issue me a replacement vehicle.

66 Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem of the 2014 Jeep Cherokee

Failure Date: 12/31/2014

Earlier I reported about having trouble in second gear. Now the transmission is having problem and service transmission light came on in a brand new car with just under 7000 miles. The problem started with jerks during gear shifts from park to drive and vice-verse. Then, I could feel jerks while shifting from 4th to 5th gear and when it would shift back to 4th from 5th, the engine would rev upto 2000 rpm and then slow down. That was kind of dangerous as it would accelerate the vehicle where you need it to stop. All of a sudden, the service transmission light came on the vehicle would not move from 6th gear and I had to stop on the side of the highway. After switching the engine off and on again, the vehicle started driving but the same problem started repeating. I was on a vacation driving up north in north hampshire, vermont and new york and I had to get back home. Somehow I was able to make it home. I'm still waiting for the dealer to give me a confirmation about a loaner car so that I can give it for repairs.

67 Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem of the 2014 Jeep Cherokee

Failure Date: 09/15/2014

The transmission does not always change gears immediately when going from high speed (70) to a lower speed (45). It stays in the higher gear and then will jerk into the lower gear. I have been to the dealership where the vehicle was purchased several times, but I keep being advised that there is not a problem. Believe me, there is a problem. I also had the car for 2 weeks and had to have both front tie rods replaced. Would not recommend a Jeep Cherokee to anyone.

68 Transmission Not Go Into Gear problem of the 2014 Jeep Cherokee

Failure Date: 09/15/2014

I was driving on a low traffic road going approximately 30 mph when the parking brake error warning light appeared on the dash hud and the gear selector d was flashing. Another warning appeared in the hud that stated "service transmission", as well as the check engine light and stability control warning light. As this began I was on a slight incline and began drifting backward, leading me to believe the engine had died but I could still hear it was on so I applied more pressure to the gas pedal but couldn't move forward. I turned the engine off and as I turned the car back on, another warning appeared stating that I should put it in park before attempting to shift (I was in park at the time) so I went ahead and shifted to drive but the entire car jerked and made a very loud thud that sounded as if I was shifting into another gear while flooring the gas pedal. When I finally was able to go forward, I could barely move even though I was applying full throttle and the rpms were redlined. I couldn't go any faster than 15 mph for the remainder of my trip (I only had a mile to go since I was almost home) and the rpms stayed redlined for about half that time but I was never able to accelerate over that 15 mph for the duration of the trip. When I got to my driveway, I put it in park again and opened the hood and the engine was idling much louder than usual.

Transmission shifts hard from 1st to 2nd, and from 2nd to 3rd. It also has a pronounced "wobble after it shifts from 1st into 2nd gear, and continues until it shifts hard into 3rd gear at about 20 mph. After a stop will not go into 1st gear for a second or two, then abruptly surges forward with more speed than the amount of accelerator you are giving it. When decelerating, the transmission will actually go into 4th gear and add fuel causing the tachometer to go up between 500 and 1000 rpm. The transmission although touted as a "9 speed", is useless, as it will not go in either automatically or manually at any speed below 75 or 76 mph even though it easily could at 67 or 68 mph with sufficient rpm to still maintain speed. This Jeep is equipped with the towing package from the factory. Towing a 17' boat traveling over 300 miles, the car ran normally on the way to the destination shifting when it needed to and even going into 8th gear a good deal of the trip. On the return trip, the transmission refused to shift out of 5th gear even though the tach was registering 3k to 4k rpm even when going downhill. It also seemed to be losing power and having difficulty going up slight grades on the interstate. A few times I got it into 7th gear by completely letting up on the gas going downhill but as soon as we started up a slight grade it would again go into 5th and not shift into a higher gear. When I reported these problems to the dealer, I was told that this is normal operation for this transmission / vehicle. I've never had a car that did these things and could be called "normal operation". I feel this transmission is a clear danger to all who have bought this vehicle, and the NHTSA really needs to look into this and have Chrysler do something soon to rectify these problems before major accidents, injuries, and death are the outcome.
