Vehicle stall on the highway, it was later determined that the engine blew a piston . This all happened on this vehicle at 21,000 miles. Leaving my young daughter stranded on the highway alone at night . After further investigation found out there has been recalls on this make and model for catalytic converters overheating and causing piston problems in the engine . After reading many complaints online for the very same reason more models of kia should be recalled.

I was driving and everything seemed fine. I parked and turned off the vehicle to pick up my kid from daycare and as I was driving back home the vehicle started to stall and run high rpms. I was going about 20mph but was at 4,000 rpms. I was able to make it home and parked the car and called the dealership to have it looked at. After checking the car they found it had a bad catalytic converter and faulty battery. The converter was covered on warranty thankfully but ended up paying $600 for a battery and labor. Vehicle was purchased from the dealership with one previous owner and approximately 40k miles on it.

I was with on the highway and noticed a noise that I hadn't heard before. I was about 40 miles from home so I headed towards home and as 8 was driving down the highway, the noise was gradually getting louder, I had no idea what it was, not one warning light came on. Suddenly while going just over 60mph, my car stalled, would not restart. While cars zoomed past me going faster than I. I made my way to the side of the road, luckily avoiding getting hit. Still no lights had come on until it stalled completely. I was thankful but shocked to hear the next day from my mechanic that a rod had come broke loose in my car and broke through the engine. That I had a car that needed a $6000+ new engine and that engine replacements for this car model and year are very hard to come by. I am disgusted. . I will never buy a kia again in my life. I called kia and asked them how could my car get this bad without any warning lights? they said they weren't sure, it should have. That certainly doesn't help me. I have a 6 year old car that is almost worthless. I still need to finish paying it off. Ridiculous.

While driving on a side street the oil light started to flicker intermittently then remained blank not lighting up again. Very shortly thereafter, within a tenth of a mile, the engine sputtered, could here clicking from engine, vehicle then stalled. I drifted to the side of the road, opened the hood and checked the oil and noticed no oil registering on the dip stick. There was no visible oil showing on the outside of the engine or underneath the vehicle. The oil was changed at jiffy lube, store #2375, on emerson Ave. , indianapolis, in. Mileage at oil change was 100,973 performed on July 27, 2019 (see attached). Next oil change due at 105,973. Oil used was penzoil semi-synthetic 5w20. Mileage on vehicle at time of breakdown 105,490. With approximately 78,200 miles on the engine I was out and about running normal errands when it completely stalled out on me. Didn't take a jump so had it towed to my mechanic. Following morning it's started on its own but the damage could be heard. No previous noises coming from the engine, oil changes up to date and relatively on time. Out of warranty (2nd owner); excluded from recall even though problem is the exact same as what was listed. Kia only offered $1000 off repairs.

My 2015 kia Soul is now sitting at a shop, due to the fact that without any warning as I was traveling down the highway it decided to slow down and shake then stall managed to get it started and get off the highway to a store, checked the oil there wasn't any in the engine even though 2 days before I had just had it changed. That was on August 7 2019 after doing some research it seems that kia has let alot of people down by selling defective cars and for me I am still stuck with payments with no way to even save for a replacement engine as I have been told it needs. I hope that they come to their sense and do the right thing.

I was driving my 2013 kia Soul, and I was turning across a busy intersection. As I was in the middle of crossing the intersection my car stalled out and I was almost in a very serious accident. If the oncoming car had not swerved it would have been a serious collision. Since this incident, my car has been towed to a kia service center and evaluated. The kia technician stated that my car had metal shavings within the crankshaft oil passages, and the crankpins themselves may be too rough on the edges. As a result, oil may be blocked and cause the connecting rod bearings to wear, which would then cause them to fail and seize the whole engine. That, of course, would cause the car to stall during driving. This is the exact same problem that the other kia engines were recalled for. In addition to stalling this could cause the rods to pierce the engine and cause a fire. More lives are at risk because the kia recall is not complete. Engines like mine, are still out there possibly causing serious and or fatal incidents. Kia needs to expand the recall to the 2. Engines as well. This is a manufacturing defect that needs immediate action. Please expand the recall as this problem is still continuing in other kia Soul engines not listed in the recall.
Driving my 2014 kia Soul on July 4th on the highway at 75 miles per hour, engine revved up to 5 rpm's for no apparent reason, and engine light came on. Went back down to proper rpm's after about 10 seconds, then about 15 seconds later revved up to 7 rpm's, battery light came on and car stalled in the middle of the highway. Called kia corporate on July 8th, they created a case for me, I had a contact there that was working my case, and they had it towed it to midwest kia in wichita, KS. , because there was an active recall on the car. They had it for 2 weeks, refused to fix it because they couldn't get the car to start to throw the code for the recall, but they repeatedly told me they would do nothing to get it to throw the code because they might pay to fix something they shouldn't. A man at corporate told me on July 22nd that they were not going to honor the recall nor the warranty that is still on my car, and I had my car towed back to my house. When I got it back, I looked under the hood and the service center had torn my engine apart and left it in pieces under my hood, where it sits now awaiting permission on what I can do so I do not ruin any chances I have of them fixing what they should anyway.
Vehicle constantly misfiring or attempting to stall with a check engine line that doesn't stay illuminated whether running, driving, or at a stand still. Potentially very dangerous!! when able to read code it states it's a cylinder 2 issue, but only provides generic code. Still has issues despite getting fixed! this kia should be a part of the engine recall as well!.

While driving 25 mph on city street, without warning, car stalled. Towed to local dealer to find out the engine had seized. Bought used through a dealer in town with 102k miles on it, have had the car for about a month. Excellent oil change history on carfax.
Drove up a hill for a delivery. Car stalled half way up the hill. Tried to restart car, when doing so & put the gears into drive the car rolled back some. With this, the engine & battery lights came on. Tried to restart the car three or four more times. On the last attempt, the car started rolling backwards. Put the car in park & turned off the ignition but the car wasn't stopping. In panic mode, didn't try to apply the emergency brakes. Ended up hitting another vehicle with the rear of my vehicle. On top of the damage done to the rear of my vehicle & the other persons, the two passenger tires of my vehicle blew out.

My 2015 kia Soul is misfiring and the engine light is flashing. I received a recall and took the vehicle to steve napleton kia of elgin. They supposedly performed an ecu upgrade and sent me on my way. My car didn't hardly make it out of the lot before shaking like crazy and ultimately stalling. I was driving and my 2016 kia Soul stalled in the middle of the highway the car behind me almost crashed into me and begin beeping. When I pushed on the gas it would hesitate giving me just enough to get to the side of the ride. This is the second time this has happened the first time the dealer repaired the long engine block free of charge at 66,000 miles this time the dealer told me it's the same exact thing wrong but I am responsible for the repairs. They also said I don't have regular oil changes but I have receipts from both kia dealerships that I have my car serviced but they only are going by there records from they dealership, I do see there was a recall (sc176)on the engines Feb 2019 and want to know if and why my vehicle is not included in the recall. My first complaint about my engine was 2 months after purchasing it. To have your car stall in the middle of a highway is very scary and a hazard to everyone.
I was driving south bound on rte 295 in warwick ri traveling approx. 65 mph in a straight pattern when I heard a snap under my car. My car skid and my hydroplane light, oil light and engine light came on. I looked in my rear view mirror and saw sparks. I pulled over and at this time my car stalled. When I exited my vehicle there was a fire in the undercarriage of my engine. 911 was dispatched and my car was engulfed in flames in minutes and was a total lose. There was a recent recall in the pistons causing fire damage to the model, make and year of my car. I was not notified of the recall and it was never repaired. I believe the issue may have been in the pistons and catalytic converter; NHTSA campaign number: 19v120000; kia's number for this recall is sc176. I am a awaiting my accident report as the incident just happened.
My 2012 kia Soul (base) with the 1. 6l gdi recently had a problem on I-80 traveling between des moines, IA and denver, CO. (there had been no prior symptoms) after reaching around 65 mph, the engine began misfiring emmiting obd error code 0336 indication a bad crankshaft position sensor. I stopped at the nearest autozone, bought a appropriate replacement, and installed the part in the parking lot. Upon ignition, the car immidiately began misfiring and died. On the second attempt, the car started and misfired; but it sent the same 0336 code then the tachometer died. Although the techometer died, the engine continued to idle (and run) without further misfires. Upon seeing this, I figured it was the cam shaft position sensors (as the symptoms are very similiar). I found, and replaced both engine mounted cam shaft position sensors, but no new symptoms untill I test drove the vehicle. During the test drive, the vehicle emmited 3 obd codes, and didnt start misfiring until the tachometer went over 3500 rpm. By then, I was doing a highway test on I-80 outside Lincoln, ne, and the car just died at around 55-65 mph. It emmited code 0336 for a bad crankshaft position sensor, 0565 for cruise control on signal malfunction (I have the base model, so there is no cruise control), and 0517 for battery temperature circuit malfunction. I managed to get the vehicle off the interstate, and back home where the problem changed again. Now it misfires untill the tachometer hits 3500, then the tachometer dies and the vehicle appear to run normal (dispite the reoccuring odb2 codes 0366, 0517, and 0565) it appears the engine heated up enough to burn out a brand new crankshaft position sensor, and cause problems with the battery. (and possibly the ecu as it now reports my non-existant cruise control is malfunctioning).
I have been trying to get my car fix since February. It keep stalling without warning no lights will come on. I need someone to look at this situation I would like to get my car fix. I am paying my car note on time every month. Please help me.
