While I was driving the engine died. I was able to restart and get home but the motor had a knocking sound. I took car to dealer, they said engine was bad and there were recalls on it. They did did some recall work but said the engine wasn't covered because I didn't get the recall work done sooner.

Recall sc200 engine compartment fire safety hazard. While driving after I got off the interstate and got off on my exit, I heard a knocking noise in engine, then oil light and engine light came on, I get my oil changed on the regular, smelled really hot had to turn off the car it scared me because it also started to deaccelerate would not go over like 30 40 mph. The noise was terrible I was so scared the engine was going to explode I had to have it towed. Now after the kia consumer told me multiple times they approved the engine replacement the dealership had some issue due to an ecu ksds update that I was not notified of and it was never preformed. So she apologized by telling me the information that was previously provided mutiple times was incorrect and I would need to pay out of pocket. I read over the sc200 engine inspection test recall letter. It actually states they will preform the ksds ecu software update in addition to this recall. Not the other way around. Sent another escalation because this is not fault of my own the car is broke down and also not my fault they gave me the wrong information (so they say. ) regardless they should replace it because they already told me it was approved to be fixed and for a rental. I have still not gotten any thing. I am completely.

The contact owned a 2016 kia Soul. The contact stated that while driving at 45 mph, the vehicle began to make an abnormal knocking noise, a burning odor was detected as the vehicle began to lose power as several warning lights appeared on the instrument panel. The contact was unable to restart the vehicle and left the vehicle on the side of the road. The next day, the contact's fianc attempted to meet a tow truck driver at the scene where the vehicle was left; however, upon arrival, the vehicle was gone. Upon investigation, the contact discovered that the vehicle was towed to an independent tow yard where they discovered that the vehicle was burned to ashes. The dealer nor the manufacturer had yet to be notified of the failure. A police report nor a fire report was filed. The vehicle was deemed a total loss. The failure mileage was 66,186.
My kia was driving normally until I stopped at a red light at a busy intersection. When the light turned green, without warning, the oil and battery light simultaneously came on and the car stalled. I eventually was able to get the car to move; however the car would not accelerate and a horrible knocking noise was coming from the driver's side. My vehicle travelled another 100 feet before shutting off again. No check engine light present. I had it towed to stokes kia in goose creek SC, where I was informed that my engine threw a rod, and would cost nearly $8,000 to replace. I've had my kia for less than a year, and conveniently enough, my warranty just expired by a few hundred miles, and I still owe $9,000 on the loan I took out for the car. It is outrageous this vehicle hasn't been recalled yet; it's only a matter of time before someone become a fatality while driving down a highway when their engine crashes on them.

Car has only 34k miles. Had it for two months now. Hasn't had it's first oil change. However, the oil light comes on and blinks then shuts off, does this every time I drive or in idle. I put 4 qts of oil in the car a week ago. There is no reason the oil needs to be filled again. I'm going to have to put additional 4 quarts of oil again. There is no leaks, no burning or anything else. I'm worried about the engine blowing up or catching on fire. There was a recent recall on this car but I have no idea why I am not being told, or informed. The engine is usually quiet, but when the oil light blinks, it's also accompanied by a knocking sound. Kia is aware of this issue and we're sued by customers for the same issue. This is a big problem that kia has not attempted to redress. This issue happens while driving up to and over 40mph, while at a stop, and while driving under 10mph.
Tl the contact owned a 2016 kia Soul +. The cotnact stated when they starting their vehicle they heard a loud knocking noise coming from their engine. The contact called and had the vehicle towed to local dealer jeffrey automotive group ( 30800 gratiot Ave, roseville, mi 48066 phone: (586) 296-1300 ) who inspected the vehicle. And diagnosed the failure as metal fragmitic in the engine pan causing the knock sensor to be replace. The local dealer replace the engine, however. Two days after the vehicle was repaired the contact stated their husband was driving 70 mph and approaching highway exit. They notice black smoking coming from the front hood of the vehicle. The contact husband was able to drive and pull into a empty parking lot and where the contact and her husband exit out of the vehicle and distanace themselves from the vehicle where they saw fair amount of sparks and fire coming from the engine. The fire department did come out and extinguish the fire. A fire report was filed. No medical treatment was need at the scene. No one was injured. The vehicle towed by the contact insurance provide where they inspect the vechicle stated the fire was caused by oil leak from the rear of the engine and deemed the vehicle a total loss. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 92,312. Vw.

The 2014 Soul has less than 100k miles on it, but when my daughter traveled home, thanksgiving 2020, right as she pulled into our parking spot, both the check engine light and oil light came on. She had just had the software update to move the car into limp home mode if there was engine problems, and sure enough, when she went to drive the car the next morning, the car was in limp home mode. Took it to the nearest kia dealership where they indicated that there was knocking noises coming from the engine with a code p1326 and that the engine long block needed to be replaced. It is completely undriveable. I have been waiting to find out if her engine is one that is being recalled by kia but if it is not it should be.
On Nov 3rd 2020 I was waiting to make a left turn across a road with two way traffic. I accelerated through the turn in order to get in front of any oncoming vehicles. As soon as I did this I noticed my car had trouble gaining speed and felt off. I continued to drive and realized I could not accelerate properly and my engine was making a terrible knocking noise. I drove to work and hoped if I let it sit during my shift maybe it would be better in the morning (I work overnight so this happened in the evening). After work my car was still making the same noise so I took it to meineke where I normally get my oil changed. They did the diagnostic and called to tell me I barely had any oil and I needed a new engine. At first they tried to tell me if was my doing but after some research I have come across this thread where almost everyone is having the same problem I do have the 2. 0l engine on my 2015 kia Soul that I purchased in 2016. Currently I am at around 88,000 miles which seems to be a common theme. Unfortunately after taking it to kia I was informed they would not cover it even though they had extended the warranty for something similar to this issue. This is because someone leased the vehicle before I purchased it and so I am considered the second owner and I do not get the same warranty. Trying to figure out a means to fix my vehicle. I did buy other coverage when my vehicle was purchased that may help but if not I am stuck footing over $5,000 in repairs.
Vehicle is losing oil so much that oil light is flashing on and kia says nothing is wrong with the car. It's losing more than 3 qts in less than 3k miles. There are no obvious signs of a leak and the car is making an unexplained knocking sound when accelerating from a stop and around 40 mph.
Bought a certified pre-owned 2017 kia Soul in 2019 and 1 year after usage there was an engine failure for what it appeared to be no reason. I've read that others have experienced the same thing around 60,000 miles and conveniently enough our vehicle had 65000 miles on it at the time of the engine failure. There was a loud knocking noise and then smoke when it failed. It caused a crack to go up through the short block and luckily wasn't able to damage the valve train. I've tried contacting every kia dealership to see if they would fix the problem but I got the sense they didn't want to deal with the costly headache, especially due to the fact I was barely outside of the warranty threshold of 60000 miles. I feel like there should be a recall on these engines especially if they is an ongoing lawsuit against other kia models with similar problems.
Engine began making knocking noise. Checked oil level and no oil was showing on the dipstick. Had to add 2. 5 quarts of oil and continued to add around 1 quart of oil every 1,000 miles. Began to notice loss of power/acceleration and gas mileage. Took vehicle in to have spark plugs and fuel system cleaned. This did not resolve the issue. Took the car in again and they told me the catalytic converter needed to be replaced. Replacement has resolved power issues in the 3000 miles I have driven since replacement, but is still using oil at a high rate. Checked the NHTSA website and noticed many other owners reporting the same issues. Received a notice from kia over the summer to not got longer than 3750 miles between oil changes, so kia must know there is an issue with the engine. Hopefully they will issue a recall as they have done with the 1. 6l engine.
Rod bearing failure causing the engine to seize. Happened with no warning signs, after getting the vehicle's oil/engine changed or filtered an unusual amount of times. Seems to be happening between 80k-120k miles on average. When engine seized the Soul drove as normal, began making a knocking noise and seconds later it shut off.
Driving stopped at a light. Car died at light. Tried to start would not start. Pushed it out of the intersection. Someone stopped to give me a jump. After getting a jump a loud knocking noise was coming from the engine. So I turned it off and had it towed. At the time it died it was running fine. No noises no lights, no indication for why this occured. Towed it to kia and a week later they said it needed and engine. After looks ng into it we found out 2015 kia Souls had recalls for the same type of issue. We were told our VIN wasn't covered under the recall. But it displays the same issues for recall. The car has less than 100,000 miles?.
Tl-the contact owsn a 201e3 kia Soul. Thee contact stated that while driving on the freeway at 75 mph and the engine made a knocking sound. The contact quickly checked the oil after pulling over to a gas station. She continued home and the engine suddenly blew and oil started squirting from under the hood. The contact pulled over off the road and the vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic. A hole was discovered at the bottom of the engine but the mechanic made no diagnosis as to why the malfunction happened. The dealer and the manufacturer had not been contacted yet. The vehicle was still sitting at the indepedendent mechanic's shop unrepaired at this time. There were no recalls on the vehicle. The failure mileage was 112,000. Tf.

Engine abruptly failed on freeway and is no longer operating. I was operating the vehicle at approximately 60 mph as I exited the freeway. Immediately the engine began making knocking noises and jerked. I pulled over and the vehicle had to be towed from directly off the freeway. This was a well maintained and operated vehicle with service records to prove it.
My vehicle with 59,000 miles developed a knocking sound in engine. Took to kia dealership. They said my car has bearing failure but my car is out of warranty due to time, not mileage. I found where kia recalled 695,000 (2015) kia Souls with the 2. 0 liter motor (same as mine) for a design flaw that causes bearing failure. They told me sorry I'm out of luck. They want to charge me $10,000 for a new engine.
The contact owns a 2013 kia Soul. The contact stated that while her son was driving, the vehicle stalled with the low power steering fluid warning light illuminated. The vehicle was pushed off the roadway and restarted. There was a knocking sound coming from the engine after the vehicle was restarted. The vehicle was driven to the residence. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer nor an independent mechanic to be diagnosed. The contact stated that the vehicle was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 19v120000 (engine, engine and engine cooling) however, the vehicle experienced the failure stated in the NHTSA campaign. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 100,003.
I live in the bay area and I was driving back from oakland to vallejo, CA when the issue occurred. I accelerated to get over when I noticed my car's engine sounded like there was a knock sound going from under the hood. I pulled over to a safe location and inspected under the hood. I checked my oil stick which to my surprise was completely dry. My oil light was not activated, to alert the that my oil was low in my vehicle. I went into the target I pulled into and purchased two quarts of oil and let my car absorb it for a few minutes. This time the knocking noise is louder. I drive a few minutes on the streets testing my car before testing the freeway. Two minutes into driving on the freeway, my check engine light, oil and battery lights all turned on at the same time as my car began to slow itself down. I was able to safely make it to the shoulder. I waited 2 1/2 hours to get towed back home. My care was towed to the closet kia dealership the next day, and they said, "its the engine". With that said, I have seen the recalls which this qualifies for. I believe my vehicle meets the criteria for this particular recall.
We purchased the 2015 kia Soul with the 2. 0 l engine for our daughter. The car was used when we bought it and had 33,748 miles. My daughter had driven it to a shopping area and parked. When she got back in and started it to drive home the engine was making a knocking sound and did not want to accelerate at the normal rate. She was able to make it home and we had it towed to the local kia dealer. The finding was that the connector rod bearing had heated up and was causing the knocking due to lack of lubrication. We had two oil changes completed on this vehicle and a third oil change was scheduled to happen a couple days after the engine issue occurred. The car was only at 49,554 miles when the engine issue happened. Our oil changes were with the synthetic blend oil at a kia dealer. The kia dealer is now saying that the engine will likely need replaced and of course it is now out of the original warranty and we are waiting for the extended warranty adjuster to look at it and make a determination. In reading other posts, an initial recall for the 1. 6 l engine was issued, however the same type of engine failure seems to also be occurring in the 2. 0 l engines as described in the many posts that are listed. Those posts describe the same issue that we encountered (sudden knocking noise/engine needing replaced, connector rod/bearing issue). It also appears that kia and/or the third party insurance providers are not willing to rectify or stand behind the repairs of these even as similar issues exist within the recall of the 1. 6 l engine models. Luckily there was no fire or injury as has been seen in some of the other breakdowns. How long before the 2. 0 l engine is added to the recall list or does it require bodily injury before this is escalated and the manufacturer takes ownership of this?.
I was driving down the highway about 65 when I heard a loud knocking noise coming from the motor. No check engine light no over heating nothing. Loud knock car goes dead. I've only had this car for 1yr. Got it at 52. 000 miles is now at 84. 000. Still under kia 100. 000 mile warranty. But they won't cover it . And there main thing is I put 30. 000. Miles on it. I have kids. I travel. Kept up on oil changes everything.
Tl the contact owns a 2015 kia Soul. The contact stated that while her daughter was driving 20 mph, the check engine warning light illuminated. Additionally, the oil level warning indicator light was flashing. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where the contact was informed that a tune up was needed. The vehicle received the service however, the failure recurred. The contact stated that while driving, there was an abnormal knocking sound coming from the engine before the vehicle stalled without warning. The vehicle was towed to abeloff kia 1169 n 9th st, stroudsburg, PA 18360, (877) 816-7612, but was not diagnosed nor repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 80,000.
Kia has 88k miles and recent oil change and car made a loud noise while driving at 60 mphon highway and now engine makes knocking noise from detached rods. It will cost over $5000 to fix( est. ). Bought car used from klamath falls Subaru at 58k miles.
My motor engine started making a knocking sound and start to stop moving took it nappa mecanich and was told it was not fixable the part that is the problem has been recalled.
I was driving at approximately 55 mph on a local highway and the car shuttered. Immediately after the shudder there was a loud knocking noise coming from the engine. I called renaldo kia in shelby nc and was able to drive the car there. About two miles from the dealership the check engine light came on and was alerted by the internal system that there was an abnormal fault in the engine. The car had less than 78k miles. The service center rep said that 2015 kia's were constantly in her shop and there was in fact 2 in front of mine for the exact same issue. I was told that both of these cars had mileage exceeding 100k miles but that this was not a unique issue for this make and year. My car's engine is currently being torn apart and I do not know exactly what the failure mode was but was advised by the service department its most likely going to result in a replaced engine.
On June 12th or 13th can't recall what day around 9 am on mojave road in parker az, I was driving back to my grandmothers home about 2 miles away from my friends house when all of a sudden I started hearing a knocking sound coming from under my hood. I made my dad check where it was coming from and he said from my engine. I haven't drove my car since because I'm afraid I'll make more damage to it.
Losing oil and having a knocking noise coming from engine. Kia motors had us take a vehicle oil consumption test that revealed loss of 1/2 quart every 500 miles. They also had us take a compression test, and three separate trips to the dealer for video analysis. After six weeks they finally declared the car under warranty. They ordered a short block engine and sent the head of the engine out to be retooled by a local shop. After over three weeks we got the car back. In a time period of one week the car had a series of events. The engine shut off in traffic on my way to work, it also had a period were when starting the car, it shook like crazy, but started. The top cover I found out later that it shook off its pegs and was resting loose on the top of the engine and was losing oil. I had to add 1/2 quart. The diagnostic on my partner's WI-fi in the car had a diagnostic error stating the cam-shaft was having problems. At first I thought a new engine was just breaking in, but the final straw was a large pool of automotive fluid on the garage floor. The dealership has taken the car back to work on it further. Both the mechanic who put the engine back together and the service manager whom I initially talked to are now gone. I started this process on 06/10/20, picked up a repaired car on 09/29/20, and returned it in a week. As I write this comment it is now 10/17/20 and do not know what is going to happen and if there is any more damage to the engine with all that has occurred after the warranty repairs. The car is in my partner's name of patricia a holcomb.
The engine started making a knocking noise then threw a rod through the block at 89k miles I had to have the engine replaced.
