On April 13, 2021 kia completed the recall for catalytic converter and and computer system recall/update. On April 13, 2021 I was traveling out of town when there was a rotten smell coming from the car. Then under the driver's seat started to feel warm, like it was heating up. The car then violently jerked and the rpm dropped suddenly and the car started shaking and sputtering and smoking from the exhaust, the check engine light began flashing as well. I got off on highway 151 in metter georgia and pulled over to a local gas station. I turned the car off and tried to call for help but didn't have a phone signal in the area. I had the car looked at by a local mechanic and was told that the catalytic converter failed causing the engine coil 3 to misfire because more than likely the part was faulty. The spark plugs were wet because the oil and fuel mix from what was described to me as blowback from the catalytic converter clogging the engine. The car doesn't go past 2000 rpms and it has little to no acceleration. Once kia got the car they're saying it could take almost 30 days to diagnose the car on their end. They're also saying that they possibly won't cover the engine work because the recall only covers the catalytic converter. I dispute that because the catalytic converter is the cause of the engine damage.

Was driving the vehicle everything was normal all of a sudden the it began to smell like it was overheating. Then car started to lose power an stalled out. I pulled over let it set for a good 30 mins. I checked all the fluids everything was great. So I started the vehicle which was hesitant began driving did great for about 15 mins. And the same smell plus some other sounds crazy but egg smell occurred and I pulled over about 4 mins after I began to notice it was running strange. The check engine light came on an now this vehicle misses and does not run correctly. I check the fluids and tires every Monday and Thursday. I went to have the codes for the check engine light that came on after the incident happened. It gave me several issues that wasnt there at all before whatever happened happened.

A check engine light associated with the code p050a continues to repopulate on my fault codes. I have taken this to the dealership several times and been charged money out of my pocket with no resolution. I am concerned about the drivability of the vehicle and any future issues that may arise as a result of this check engine light.

My husband was driving the car and had just pulled onto the interstate and he heard a "pop" sound, so he pulled over to check it out. When he got out and opened the hood the engine was on fire and engulfed the whole car. There was no warning anything was wrong prior to him hearing the sound. It never lost power, never had any smoke coming from under the hood, never a check engine light, over heating light, low oil pressure light, nothing. It was running 100% fine. The car is a total loss, and I am just thankful he stopped and got out and is safe and did not have our children in the car with him at the time this occured.

I am receiving a p0420 odbii code. I see that an issue with catalytic converters has been reported. The check engine light came on while driving.
First, a couple of weeks ago my check engine light comes on and my engine temperature gauge stops working properly. It starts taking about 15 minutes for my engine temperature gauge to show the engine is warmed up. After about two days the engine light goes off by itself. So I finally get an appointment at the kia dealership today. They say they need to put an updated program into my kia Soul's computer. . That seemed to fix the issue according to the dealership. I drive away go to a store when I come out of the store and get back into my car and pull out of the parking spot my cars check engine light comes on again. I take it to auto zone to get the code read. This time the code is p0420. I call the dealership 800-995-4203 and the service associate marty tells me to bring my kia Soul back to the dealership. When I get there he says they are now going to charge me $109. 95 an hour to diagnose what is wrong with my car. At this time I am in the waiting room feeling like I'm being taken advantage of by these people but I have no other option and I don't have anyway of knowing what, if anything, is actually wrong with my car. Not to mention all this happens between 59000 and 60000 miles on my car and the warranty expired at 60000 miles.
When I hit about 65k on the vehicle the check engine light would come on. Each time this happens it's because there is no oil in the engine. I also notice the light comes on apprx. 1k before the car is scheduled for a oil change? there is no warning that I am low on oil until the engine light comes on. I'm afraid I'm headed for big trouble with this engine!.
