Check engine light came on when I first got in the car went to a mechanic the code said it was an oxygen sensor switch wish I had changed last year and they recall at the kia dealer after about two days the light went back off again was off for about a week came back on again went back to mechanic said it was the same code again the light went out he told me maybe it was bad gas in the car car engine light came back on about two weeks later I went to kia paid $90 for diagnostic they said it was the catalytic converter $1,500 job I asked them if it was part of the oxygen sensor recall they said no and they said it wasn't covered under my hundred thousand mile guarantee I went to a private mechanic to have it repaired for $1,000 and the check engine light came back on a week later he put in a brand new catalytic converter from kia I don't know what to do anymore because I love the car but I cannot spare this expense and I'm afraid if it will catch fire or die while I'm driving.

Kia issued a recall for a software update. After having a kia dealer install the software update my 2016 kia Soul began experiencing engine stalling. This was immediately after leaving the dealership. I took the vehicle back to the dealer and they informed me that the catalytic converter was damaged, causing my issue. They are also claiming no error codes have been detected, even though my check engine light illuminated before and after the software update. My engine also had a knock before the software updated. The knock occurred during acceleration and deceleration. The dealership refuses to check for engine damage, even though the software recall states they will repair engine damage caused by the faulty software. There are also recalls on similar year kia Soul vehicles that involve the faulty software and catalytic converter damage. This vehicle condition is dangerous and is going to get people injured or killed.

My 2016 kia Soul has check engine light malfunction. No mechanic has determined what is the cause and how to correct this matter. The car has problems with idling, and performance. The car has only 37k miles. After spending over $300, I was told sorry we have no answer. Just ignore the problem. What happens if it causes a fire or breaks down on the highway? the internet is inundated with the same issue. Kia dealerships can't see my car, because they have too many recalled cars for engine fires. What if my car explodes??? catches fire? there is something wrong with this car. I want it recalled.
Tl-the contact owns a 2013 kia Soul. The contact stated while driving 55-60 mph the vehicle was shaking and failed to accelerate. The check engine warning light was flashing. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where informed there were grooves in the engine block. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted however no further assistance was provided. The failure mileage was 190,000. Ap.

When I called the dealership about the code that popped up when I used my reader to read the check engine light that popped up two days before thanksgiving. It said it was the catalytic converter. The kia lady took my VIN and said there was no recalls but everyone with my car was calling in about it. And the part itself is 1200 dollars. How many others have to go through the exact same thing which also says it can result in loss of control. As a mother with a toddler who chose this car based on its affordability and safety features. This is unacceptable. There needs to be an issue recalled immediately. The car is a 2016 kia. Theres should be no reason that I would have to pay 3000 dollars to replace a part that everyone's having to replace or your car will literally break down for good. The po50a code.
My fiance and I were driving we pulled onto the busy highway in joplin missouri the car just stalled out and died out of nowhere. . No check engine lights no warnings just died would not start back up my fiance finally got it to start back up it made it two miles then stalled again in the middle of a busy intersection!! I had my two girls with me it was pouring rain we had to push the vehicle to safety!! stuck with tow fees shop fees now only to find out a week after this happened that a recall has been put out for the same thing that happened to us!! we called kia immediately they refuse to do anything and want us to pay again to have the vehicle towed to the nearest dealership so their mechanic can install a software then diagnose it themselves!! damage already done and theyre not going to do anything about their screw up!! they should be sued!.

2016 kia Soul 2. 0l serviced regularly running full synthetic. Oil changed 10/1/2020, on 10/19/2020 the oil was checked in the morning and full at that time, on Wednesday 10/21/20 check engine light came on - code was po441 which is an evap issue, but car started knocking pretty bad while driving on the highway. Pulled into gas station immediately and checked the oil and the oil had disappeared completely, not even registering on the dip stick. Tried to add oil at this point but it was too late the engine had thrown a rod.
Vehicle shut off when in driving mode no check engine lights come on and no other codes pop on when vehicle was scan. Two miss calls on the highway almost got into a bad accident.
Took my vehicle into my local kia dealer for a letter titled "product improvement campaign" sent from "corporate headquarters" to perform a "software update on 2014-2016 gasoline direct injection (gdi) engine to protect the engine from excessive connecting rod bearing damage. Upon picking it up from the dealership, the cel (check engine light) immediately began flashing within a few miles of driving off the dealership. In taking it to the dealership, and with their collaboration with the corporate headquarters, kia is unable to fix my car. I have had a rental car for 30 days now. Kia has offered 2 cash amounts for compensation, both of which will not cover replacing the engine. The car worked perfect before all this began and I have records to prove that. Vehicle was meticulously dealer only maintained. I have requested a new engine from a non-problematic 2017 or newer kia Soul or a 2017or newer kia Soul replacement vehicle. I have not heard back from kia corporate headquarters as of yet. Was told I would hear from someone by 10/30/2020.
When at complete stop idling is very rough and engine will cut off. When accelerating from a complete stop shifting is very delayed and hard, once gear shifts then it accelerates too fast at once. When makes a left turn from stop light check engine light came on and code was p0420 about catalytic converter.
Tl- the contact owns a 2015 kia Soul. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle would hesitate upon acceleration as the check engine light had illuminated on the instrument panel. The contact stated that she had taken her vehicle to an independent mechanic where they discovered no oil in the vehicle despite receiving an oil change less than a month prior; the contact had her oil replenished that same day by the mechanic. One day upon entering her vehicle, the engine failed to start up after multiple attempts to start the vehicle. Due to the failure, the contact had the vehicle towed to steve schmitt kia(11655 new halls ferry road, florissant, mo 63033) where she was informed that the catalytic converter was defective and that her engine would need to be replaced. Upon investigation, the contact discovered NHTSA campaign number : 19v120000 (engine, engine and engine cooling) which she linked to her failure; however, the vehicle was not included in the recall. The manufacturer had yet to be notified of the failure. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was 125,760. Jo.
Vehicle out of nowhere while driving on expressway started to decelerate I immediately pulled over safely and noticed the lights on my dashboard were illuminated check engine light and engine oil light. I took vehicle to havoline oil express and they checked my codes changed spark plugs and ignition coils but car still sputters and power is low lights are dim I have it now at a kia dealership because I believe it to be the engine or something in the powertrain. Nothing like this has ever happened to the vehicle since I've purchased it.
I got a recall notice letter from kia regarding my kia Soul. I took it in and they supposedly repaired the catalytic converter. Starting in August 2020, my check engine light came on. Brought it to the dealer who supposedly fixed it and they said it was indeed the catalytic converter. They put in a request to have it fixed only for corporate to decline saying it was no longer in warranty and has it escalated to the higher ups of corporate. I spoke to melissa on September 21, 2020 around 3:45-4:00 p. M. Eastern time for her to tell me they had already repaired once at good will at the dealer and a second time will be declined. However, I explained a catalytic converter should be good for up to 10 years and this particular vehicle had a recall that again failed. Upon reading about the recall, I know it can cause a fire if not repaired. I do not believe they fixed the recall/or that the recall part was a defective one. Please help me with getting kia to resolve this issue. The date below is an approximate date.
My 2013 kia Soul check engine light blinking. I was told needed a new catalytic converter which I took care of 2 months ago. Check engine light came on again when I was driving and car would not go I've 40mph. I took it to a repair shop and was told I needed a new engine. I have always gotten my oil changed every 7000 miles as requested. I did this at the kia dealership for the first 5 years then just locally. My hours at work have been cut back due to covid and I do not have $5000 dollars. The shop said that the engines are hard to find due to this being a ongoing problem with the 1. 6 liter 2013 kia Soul. My kia has 160,000 on it but has been well maintained. I contacted kia and they are not taking any responsibility yet sold these kias knowing the engine was faulty.
Something is knocking or ticking in the motor feels like under my feet of drivers floor board. Have kept regular oil changes nd it started off by spitting and sputtering when I would come to a stop to now ticking. Went to start it the next morning to go too work and it sounded awful so I didnt drive it. Now when I start it the battery light is on and check engine light is on and it will start for about 3 sec an shuts off.

The vehicle failed to restart and was towed to the contact's office. The dealer and the manufacturer were not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 140,000.
Check engine light came on this morning. Auto parts store ran the code, we were informed it was just the gas cap. Tightened the gas cap, and they reset the code. About 3 hours later the oil light started flashing, we promptly added more oil. Several hours later we were going to lunch and the engine is knocking very loudly. Vehicle is not running properly, and we were told it sounds like a rod or bearing.
Catilac converter. Kia refused to fix says not a recall. But 2017 kia manufacturing says it's a recall and now my check engine light appears and that needs to be fixed.
Vehicle has only 75k miles on it motor spun a barring on bottom it done all the the things on the last motor recall but was on diffrent model contacted dealer an showed it was the same motor an nothing has happen want honor warnty or anything an im not the first person have talked to severy an they contacted kia dealer ships prior to an they get the same thing only thing vehicle done was say low oil pressure light came on but no check engine light motor was knocking very bad an knock motor sensor never came on either ive hooked code reader up to it my self nothing now the car is about to hit my credit due to faulty motor.
Car make and model- kia Soul 1. 6 2015 on or around 07/05/2019, a check engine light came on the car dashboard, I called cherry hill kia in new jersey and was asked to bring the car in for an sc176 ecu upgrade. In less than a year after the upgrade the same check engine light came on again and cherry hill kia diagnosed p0420 code which is related to the same issue from last year's recall with NHTSA recall bulletin reference number-19v120000.
While driving on a street at 55 mph my car suddenly stalled and the front wheels locked for second. Luckily it was dry straight pavement so I was able to safely pull over. I was able to restart the car but it had a very load knock so I immediately shut the car back off. The check engine light never came on even after the engine failed. It is my understanding kia has recalled this same 2. 0 liter engine in other model cars but not the Soul. The car only has 75k miles and has the oil changed every 5k miles. It seems this is the same issue causing engine seize and fires in other models and should be considered in the recall. The only solution after the failure is to replace the engine and who knows how long the replacement engine will last before suffering the same failure.
Took off from stop sign got up to 55 mph and engine blew. No warning lights. No check engine light. Nothing. It just blew. Oil pressure gauge was normal. It didn't make any kind of noise or hesitation. I was driving on a state highway on a straight stretch of road and was traveling slightly downhill when it blew. It was 5:20 am when it happened.
Tl the contact owns a 2016 kia Soul. The contact stated that while driving 80 mph, the vehicle stalled with the check engine warning light illuminated. The contact was unable to restart the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to rimrock kia located at 4040 king Ave w, billings, mt 59106, (866) 979-1682, where the contact was informed that the ecu system software needed to be updated. The software was updated however, the contact was also informed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was included in NHTSA campaign number: 19v120000 (engine, engine and engine cooling). The manufacturer was informed of failure. The failure mileage was 130,000.
I was driving home on the highway at full speed (65 mph) when all of a sudden my 2015 kia Soul + stalled and the check engine light started to flash and then smoke started pouring out. . . . I lost all power but made it to the break down lane and turned the car off. The car started to fill up with smoke and I saw flames coming out from under the hood so I tried to get as much stuff out of my car as I could before the flames got too big and before I knew it the whole car was fully engulfed by fire.
There was a recall, took it to a local dealer in rocky mount nc. Was told it needed catalytic converter replaced. Kia had it fixed. About two months later check engine light began flashing and car would not accelerate pass 60. Again I took it to the dealership in rocky mount nc. Was told they didn't know what the codes were, and that they could reset the computer. After doing so I relocated to high point nc and upon arrival, it began to do the same. My car has now been at the dealership here in high point over a month. They just called stating my engine was blown. That it would cost 3633. 94 for an engine. Kia would pay half. Labor would be 2399 and that's all on me. I still owe 8 grand and dont have that kind of money. Thoughts?.
Mileage 75,000 and the engine threw a rod through the bottom of the engine block and through the oil pan. I purchased the car with about 22,000 miles. I've driven the car less than 2 years and have put about 50,000 miles on it. I have maintained the vehicle according to manufacturer specifications with regular oil changes every 5000 miles. I have never had the check engine or oil lights come on since I've owned the vehicle. While driving on the interstate about 80 mph with the cruise control on, the car struggled and felt like it was going to stall out, like it wasn't getting gas or the alternator was failing. The check engine and oil light came on and smoke was billowing from under the hood. I had to drive for about half a mile or so to the nearest emergency pull off and turned off the car. When I was finally brave enough to pop the hood, there was oil sprayed all over the engine bay, a small puddle on the ground, and no oil in the engine. I had it towed to my local garage and was told that the engine blew the connector rod out of the engine block and through the oil pan. My vehicle has not been recalled for this issue but there has been a recall on 2012-16 kia Soul for the exact same problem. It cannot be a coincidence that my vehicle has this problem as well. My local kia dealership has said I can bring it in, pay the $100 diagnostics fee, and they'll decide if it can be covered since the warranty has lapsed. Since I am the second owner, I do not have the 100,000 mile 10 year warranty. The warranty is reduced to 3 years 60,000 from the original (first owner) purchase date.
2014 kia Soul with 2. 0 engine (84,000 miles) suddenly started knocking then locked up going around 60 mph on the highway. This was so sudden that it caused the tires to squeal. If anyone had been behind me there is a great chance it would have caused an accident. Then it unlocked and continued knocking. At no time did any lights come on such as the check engine or oil lights. I pulled off and had the vehicle towed. The dealership informed me that the engine would have to be replaced at a cost $6,000. 00 which is close to the overall value of the vehicle. I am now facing a very difficult financial dilemma and hardship for something beyond my control.
At the end of February 2020 my vehicle would not accelerate over 40 mph. The vehicle was taken to the local kia dealer for repairs. Reportedly the issue was related to the catalytic converter and value purge control, both where replaced. In June the vehicle was taken in for an oil change, but the technician recommended it be returned to the dealer due to metal shavings seen in the tank. Kia recently issued a warning about changing the oil as recommended. The vehicle has been properly maintained, yet the oil seems to evaporate after 1200 miles. This is problematic and hazardous because the check engine light has never illuminated with any of the noted issues.
I went to start the vehicle up on March 2, 2020. I turned the ignition, car turned on and started to violently shake the entire vehicle. I turned it off, check oil level (it's a new vehicle and just had an oil change) oil level was good. I turned it on again, car went to 1. 5 rpms, then died (0rpms). I took the key out, waited a while, and started it back up again. Turned on just fine, but this time with the check engine light on. Had kia road side service tow it the following morning to hanlees in davis. I haven't been given much information as to what was wrong with the car. After 2 weeks of them trying to figure out what was going on, I got a call saying that kia has authorized to drop a whole new engine in the vehicle and my car would be ready in a week. I called today, March 19, and they still haven't received the engine, so I'm still without a vehicle. I am moving across the us in a week from now, and have to cancel the move because my car is still not ready and the dealership will not ship my vehicle once it is finished. It has been almost a month, and I'm stuck in this lease for another 3. 5 years.

My car experienced a complete loss of power. Making it impossible to travel over 50 mph. No check engine light or code thrown. Brought to kia dealership and after 3 weeks discovered the catalytic converter was clogged and melted. Replaced 90 days ago. Second is now destroyed and melted. Wants to install the third. Says motor is fine, not running rich or lean. Nothing they can do for me and they just have to keep up with this $3,000 repair every 3 months as it fails. Vehicle is completely unsafe to drive. Converter being clogged causes it to shut down on the highway. Kia says nothing they can do, just need to keep replacing the converter every few months. A converter rated to last 10+ years. Highly unusual. Spoke to other mechanics and they believed there was a recall on my converter for this reason but my bin shows no recall. Please help.
The contact owns a 2013 kia Soul. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle would not properly accelerate and drove sluggish. The check engine warning light remained illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the catalytic converter was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired however, approximately 13 months later, the catalytic converter had failed a second time and was replaced. The local dealer classic kia located at 2920 n interstate 35e, carrollton, TX 75007 and the manufacturer were notified of the failure. The contact was informed that the vehicle was previously repaired in 2019 under NHTSA campaign number: 19v120000 (engine, engine and engine cooling). The contact stated that the vehicle had experienced the same failure listed in the recall. The failure mileage was 119,000.
Check engine light came on while driving took it to kalidy kia checked codes did an up grade of cataylic software upgrade found faulty cataylic converter the dealership kept my car no I have no transportation.
I was already planning on getting my oil changed on the first of February, even though I still had a few hundred miles left. But the day before, my oil light kept flashing on and off. Mostly when it was idling. I checked my oil levels mid day during lunch, and all seemed okay. Well I was driving 3 miles from my house to church Friday night, January 31, and as I was driving, just getting up to about 50-55 mph, I heard a loud bang and felt my car jolt. Made it safely to the side of the road and called a tow truck. After the jolt, my battery light came on. Never saw a check engine light. The tow truck driver was not able to start the car and told me that my oil was low. The following day when my dealership checked through everything, they told me that my engine had seized and I need to get a new engine. This seems to be a reoccurring problem with this car year and model. I have a little under 110,000 miles.
