Took my car in to have oil changed before it was even due and it didn't even register in the oil dipstick. They changed oil I checked it about 2 weeks later and it was half full, later the next day I checked it and said it was low. I have no oil leaks, so itnis brining oil for no reason. Taking to mechanic this week.

On January 20, 2020 I was driving at about 50 mph on el mirage rd when suddenly the car lost power. I noticed the speed drop and tried pressing the gas to gain power and speed again then I heard a loud pop. I looked in my rearview mirror and there were huge flames and oil splattered on the back window. I quickly got out of my car and the flames in the back were still there but dying down and there was something on fire under the car. I had to use a bottle of juice to put out the fire underneath the car. If I didn't have that juice I'm almost positive the whole car would have caught on fire. I started doing research and saw that kia Soul 2014 had a recall because of the catalytic converter overheating causing the piston rods to break and puncture the engine block causing an oil leak onto the hot exhaust system which causes a fire. The recall number is sc155. This recall supersedes campaigns 14v-332 and 15v-736. I had taken my kia Soul to get a new catalytic converter based off the first recall in November. They must have put another faulty catalytic converter in because this should not have happened. I got the car towed to the rally kia dealership in palmdale, California and it is currently still there. They took 2 days to give me a response on if the car would get fixed with the recall again. They said multiple mechanics had to check it out to see what happened. They said it happened because I didn't put oil in the car which cause a piston rod to break and puncture the engine block, causing an oil leak which cause the fire. They are trying to blame it on me and charge me $6,000 to fix the car. The car caught on fire. I had just put oil in it the night before hence the oil splatter on the back windshield. And the way they described the piston rod breaking and the oil leak is exactly how it is described in the recall. They should be fixing my car with the recall.

I will start this report with saying how utterly appalled I am with the "service" that kia has provied regarding this safety issue. I was driving my 2. 0 liter 2016 kia Soul at 70mph on a highway with my child in the backseat when my engine seized and started knocking. It slowed down to 40mph within seconds and it is only by the grace of god that I was able to pull the car over and turn onto a country backroad before it just shut off completely. We immediately had it towed to a bodyshop optimistic that it was just a minor issue. Turns out we couldnt have been more wrong. Low and behold the engine had a piston rod that fell out of place causing the knocking and the engine to start leaking oil at an accelerated rated through the catalytic converter. The bodyshop was nice enough to check for recalls for us and found one that fits our issues exactly. But what do you know its only for the 1. 6 liter engine and ours wont be covered because its a 2. 0. . . Even though its the same problem. So we then go on to filing a claim with kia customer service and paid to have to car towed to a kia dealership so they could diagnose what we already knew. Again hopeful that they would see the issue and offer to pay for it under goodwill since it is so common a problem throughout most all of their cars. I was beside myself when they came back and said that it wasnt the same problem at all, even though this mirrors the recall issues to a t. Well we escalated the claim through consumer affairs they came back and still denied that this was an issue with their car. We are now having to look at taking legal actions to get this taken care of because us being a young couple with children we do not have the $8,000-$12,000 it will take to replace an engine that should have never blown. We kept up with oil, it was under 80,000 miles, and had not had any issues prior to this incident. Please recall this.

Car is losing oil. Right at about the 3 month mark for it's next scheduled oil change, the check engine light will come on. This happened 3 months ago (October 2019) and I immediately changed oil. Just happened again a couple days ago right before it should be changed again. When checking the dipstick, there is no oil on it at all. It has dropped below any measurable amount. The car is garage kept with zero signs on leaking oil. I have not noticed any burning smells or smoke issues. The check engine light came on while driving on a city street less than a mile from home.

January 10th, 2020 my 2014 kia Soul + lost power in acceleration while the vehicle was in motion. The vehicles dash lights only had the check engine, battery and oil light on. The vehicles temperature guage stayed consistently in the middle position at 50%. I had the vehicle towed to my local mechanic. My mechanic explained that the engine had locked up. He also noted the engine had no oil and the oil pan was dry. . . This is impossible. I change my oil religiously every three thousand miles. How is there no oil in the vehicle when I change it regularly? the vehicle only has 117,171 miles. The vehicle was not leaking oil. My driveway, where the vehicle is parked, has no signs of oil leaking. The area where I had the vehicle come to a rolling stop after it broken down, had no signs of oil on the ground. I notice that there are similar complaints on this website that are identical to mine. Please investigate. Vehicles that are only 6 years old should not have their engines lock up.

Driving the vehicle on the highway at 65 mph, there was a loud bang in the engine compartment followed by a loss of power. As the vehicle slowed, the check engine light illuminated, followed by the oil light illuminating. Brought the vehicle to a stop on the shoulder and smoke filled the vehicle. Flames coming from the engine compartment were extinguished with a fire extinguisher. There was a trail of oil behind the car with some pooling underneath. The vehicle was towed to our local dealership for examination: "found broken rod punched hole in block causing oil leak. Oil got on exhaust causing fire. Need to replace lockblock and several other components that caught fire or damaged. " repair estimate with used engine ~$8000. I declined repairs at this time based on research of this problem. This vehicle has the 2. 0l engine and thus was not covered under recall #19v-120.

Losing oil . No signs of leaks or cracks. Routine oil changes are done on it since ive owned it. . . It has bucked a cpl times for me when coming up to a stop. Dealership tells me they cant do anything until I get a check engine light.

It's only seven years old, but it leaks engine oil and a very large metal bump and knocking coming from the engine. It can be heard very loud even outside the car. I'm very worried if the engine is on fire or if it stops suddenly. In korea, the government has already recommended that the car's engine be repaired free of charge. I want to be solved well in the u. S.

I was driving down the freeway on I-20 going see mother in law @ around 10:30 pm and the car just started licking up speed on it own and I had fiancee with me . I am deaf said there something wrong I said what the car started idling really werid . And he said pull off next exit start try to stall on the freeway. So pull over to exit and start to run normal for few mins then stall again off and on. I pull off hulen st at tom thumb parking lot check everything seem okay with motor and fiancee check didnt see anything wrong. I have notice around August car seem pick up speed on it own I really didnt think anything of it. Then I notice that it seem use oil because sometime there doesnt seem be any oil in car . I would put some in and week later seem all gone. I dont see no oil leak. . I notice it used gas really fast I am having fill tank u maybe 100 to 130 a week . I dont travel far either . 11/12/2019 when stalling started and I know none light came on at all on the engine or anything. No warning no nothing. I am financing this car there a dealer they hiley Hyundai in burleson texas. I am leasing f quill m exter finance. I just recently purchase this is just 2019 2016 kia Soul. .

My 2014 kia Soul exclaim would not shift gears causing deceleration. I took my car to karp kia where I purchased it. It took karp kia 1 week to replace the catalytic converter. 3 weeks later I brought my car back to the dealer because oil was not staying in the car but leaking onto the engine. Karp kia will not honor my warranty nor my extended warranty because I can't get all of my maintenance records despite the engine recall. I bought the car in 2017 and the car has less than 60000 miles and needs a new engine. I am legally disabled and trying to find a way to make them honor the recall/warranty that they want me to pay for because I don't have all of my oil change receipts. Please help me.

We change our oil regularly with the same shop for years. We noticed the oil light started appearing faster than usual and well under the 3000 mile sticker. We had to change the oil 3 times in one month. The second time we asked them to check for leaks or filter. They said there was no leak and filter was clean. We took ut to an auto shop and was told it was the engine. Specifically the piston and he recommended a while new engine. Was completely shocked. We just had the car inspected last month with no problems. Please help if possible. We have an appointment with the dealership tomorrow and bought vehicle 3 and a half years ago. We are worried they won't fix it. It only has 92225 miles on it.

My vehicle is having identical issues to NHTSA campaign number: 19v120000 which led to recall sc176 by kia which only covers the 1. 6l models, not the 2. 0l which is the vehicle I drive. We are experiencing a loss of power while driving in all conditions (highway, city streets, etc. ) and gears not shifting at the right times (such as when traveling uphill at highway speeds it will downshift from 6th to 3rd leading to the rpm's spiking into the 5,000 range and the temperature gauge will begin to climb or when taking off from a start it will quickly move from 1st to 2nd to 3rd gear while the vehicle moves very slowly before providing the expected movement [this being with a light press of the pedal])) as well as a loss of oil that my mechanic has been unable to locate the source of. From my research into this issue these symptoms line up with what the affected vehicles experienced before they were recalled. The loss of power and shifting difficulties were first noticed on 9/1/19, while the drop in oil level was first found on 6/16/19 where it has been monitored closely since and a leak was looked for but not able to be found during two separate oil changes since then. I wanted to see if this case could be looked into again to see if the scope of the recall did not cover all vehicles potentially at risk.

Driving on a city street at about 35 mph, the engine began rapping with no oil light warning. Stopped the car, the oil light finally went on, no oil was leaking, but checking the oil level revealed there was no oil in the engine. The engine is a total loss.

My son was coming to a stop due to a car in front of him making a left turn and was at about 5 mph on a 2 lane highway when suddenly the dash lit up like a christmas tree and the car started clicking and knocking and shut off. The oil pressure warning light did not illuminate until every warning light on the dash lit up. Now the bearings are shot. The car has never leaked oil the engine compartment is as clean as it can be. I am glad it did not throw a rod through the block and start a fire.

The contact' son saw a large oil leak under their vehicle. The vehicle was not functioning. The contact had the vehicle towed to the local mechanic. The contact had to wait for the mechanic waited for the availability of the mechanic over the weekend. The mechanic was just to busy so now the contact was going to have the vehicle towed to a kia dealer (unknown). The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 80,078. Jw.

The failure caused oil to leak and the engine to smoke due to oil leaking onto the hot exhaust component. The contact was concerned that the engine would catch on fire and she quickly pulled the vehicle over. The manufacturer was contacted and stated that the VIN was not included in a recall. The contact stated that she previously visited vision kia of canandaigua (2445 rochester rd rte 332, canandaigua, NY 14424, (585) 394-4542) where they checked the ecu logic improvement only and did not check the catalytic converter. The dealer stated that the catalytic converter was not damaged; however, the contact stated that this was not stated at all in the paperwork from the dealer. The contact stated that the damage to the contact's vehicle matched the failure listed in NHTSA campaign number: 19v120000 (engine and engine cooling). The dealer quoted a repair cost of over $4,000. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 117,000.

Driving home normally, engine knock loudly, lost of power, barley made it home. Oil light came on in when I was checking engine. No oil, just had a oil change month ago. No leakage, no smoke from tail pike. Oil pressure light never came on until it's out. I read 10 post that is the same as what happen to me.

Tl-the contact owns 2015 kia Soul. The contact stated that while at a stopped position the vehicle suddenly all of the lights on the dashboard flased and the vehicle cut off. The oil level was dry and the contact had just had an oil change three weeks prior to the issue happening. The independent mechanic who changed the oil was taken to court twice by the conbtact as a result of the incident. The judge ruled in favor of the independent mechanic because there was not enough evidence. The VIN tool showed no recalls and because of a lawsuit against the manufacturer already out the malfuncion was manufacturer's fault. The dealer lumberton kia 5035 dawn dr, lumberton, nc 28360 (910) 739-2405 found no leaks of oil anyware on the engine. The manufacturer stated that the vehicle had no recalls or warranty coverage and there was nothing they could do to help. The vehicle is still currently unrepaired needing a new engine since the incident occured on 7/3/19. The failure mileage was 115,000. Tf.

I received recall notice for the engine control unit that can cause catalytic converter to go bad and can cause oil leak. I took my car in cause the check engine light and my car failed emissions I told them it was catalytic converter and I had a major oil leak they fixed the ctalytic converter and told me that the oil leak is because my gasket is messed up and if I pay for an oil change they will fix it and I wont have any more oil leaks well its 2 weeks later and my oil light is coming back on they are crooked and I know they are going to give me a hard time about it since I already had my catalytic converter fixed. . . The oil started leaking at same time check engine light was coming on so I know that it has something to do with catalytic converter over heating and in recall and kia told them if engine needs replaced they need to do it. I have an appoinment at 7:30 on 6/12 with kia of coatseville I need to know what I need to do to get them to fix my vehicle its costing me money to take off work to get this done.

I bought this car at 62,000 miles and was told by the dealer I still had a powertrain warranty until 100,000 miles. I have had issues with oil disappearing from the start. I have to put in oil between changes and have been getting it changed every 3000 miles. It takes about 2 quarts in between changes. There are no signs of leaks, nothing in my driveway or anywhere I park. I did read that they recalled the 1. 6 ltr engine but have not recalled the 2. 0 ltr. I am having the same problems as the 1. 6. I see many people with the 2. 0 have reported the same problem. Please get involved as I see no recall on my car and it is not right that I should have to put in so much oil between changes. The oil light has never come on and the first time I noticed it, the oil was right at the low mark. The oil always looks fuzzy which in my 50 years of driving old cars and checking the oil constantly, I have never seen. This needs to be a recall ASAP. I am at 87,000 right now. Please help us make sure that kia does the right thing in this. I have read through this website and seen many other kia owner with the same problem.

This is the second complaint being filed reguarding this car. After we filed the first complaint we took our car back into the kia dealership for the check engine light flashing. They scanned engine and didn't find anything. They topped off our oil because it was half full. I just recently got my oil change done there 2,000 miles ago. According to the owners manual it should be done every 7,500 miles. The following day we were driving down the freeway, pulled off at our exit and smelled a horrid leak burning/ rotten egg/ sulfur smell. We immediately pulled of the road and checked the car for flames. We didn't find any. I'm really starting to feel unsafe about being in this vechiel.

While driving my vehicle, there was a knock sound under my hood. The vehicle started to slow down and started to smoke. I pulled the vehicle over and cut the engine. I then tried to restart the vehicle and it did not respond. I then had the vehicle towed to the nearest repair shop, where they told me that the rod had pierced through the engine block causing all of the oil to leak from the engine and breaking the starter.

Engine shut down lost all oil. Kia took it to dealership where they say it's because I changed my own oil and had a kink in filter. I have changed my oil for years do most of my own work build trucks for a living no way this is possible I changed the oil about 4 months ago it would have leaked the 1st time I drove it. Kia corporate and dealer stand. Be there tech. Theres fixing to be a recall that describes my issue to the detail. The corporate lady I spoke to when it happend said it sounded just like the recall that's fixing to come out. Had it towed to dealer then they back track. There is no way this is possible a mechanic I know said he has had 3 or 4 in the last 2 years come in his garage for same thing. Anything yall can do to help me thanks. Wife was driving to work like normal engine just died no noise no lights nothing.

I had my car into the dealer for unknown oil loss, the car was not burning it or leaking. I was informed by the dealer that it was an issue but there are no recalls on it. They took the engine apart and took pictures to submit to kia for advice. Kia refused to authorize them to fix the engine. On my way home on the highway with the car the engine started knocking when accelerating, the car lost power and the engine light came on. The car has about 111000 miles and it's been sitting for 2 years now because it needs the engine and catalytic converted replaced. I had to buy another car to drive. I have periodically called car to see if they were going to do a recall on the 2. 0 engine like they did for the 1. 6 because the 2. 0 was doing the exact same thing. It been 2 years and finally I got a recall letter that they now have the recall. I had my car towed to suntrup kia to get a new engine. I was told that the kia computers had been hacked and they could not get approval to fix the engine. They hoped it would be up next week. Next week came and they called and said they fixed the recalls. I asked if they replaced the engine and catalytic converter that quick. They said no my car did not fail some test they did. I called kia to get the issue resolved and they also told me they could not help me because there computer's were down and had no eta on when they would be back up. Now I have to pay to have my car towed home again. Suntrup kia recommend me not to drive it.

I just read about the recall for the catalytic converter overheating and causing oil leakage. My VIN is not showing under the recall but my car is losing oil and the engine light came on. The mechanic says it is giving the code for the catalytic converter. My car is also losing power and I can hear a noise under the hood that sounds like metal hitting metal. The recall says it includes the 2013 kia Soul with the 1. 6 engine and I'm wondering if mine will be included in the recall.

The vehicle was taken to crowley kia (223 broad street, bristol, CT 06010, (860) 589-4444) to be diagnosed. The mechanic was unable to locate the engine oil leak. The contact stated that the starter was replaced however, the repair did not fix the failure. The vehicle continued to consume oil prematurely and stall. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 90,000.

Vehicle has 96000 miles. While driving on highway began to hear rattling and pinging. Attempted to make it to rest area to pull over and inspect. Heard loud bang and engine stalled. Coasted into rest area. Inspection revealed oil leaking from hole blown in lower engine block.

Vehicle at 155000 miles. Driving up hill on a a road I drive every day to work. 0510, going 60 mph at 4000 rpms up the hill. Sound/felt engine explode. Pulled to the side of the road to inspect. Oil had leaked out and could not see damage. Got it tow home and found that a piston rod had broke and gone threw the bottom of the engine pan.

Vehicle engine shut off without any warning, could not get it to start. Had it towed to local firestone shop where they determined the engine had no oil and needs to be replaced. Its not fair as a vehicle owner that maintans their vehicle regularly to have something like this happen. I didn't get any kind of warning to indicate there was a problem. Vehicle just lost oil without any signs of leaks and no check engine light or oil light to give any kind of warning.

The vehicle hesitated, smoke entered the cabin, and then the engine blew while traveling at speed on a 4 lane highway. Once pulled over there was oil leaking out of the engine and running down the highway.

Was driving on the express way behind a semi. When the semi got over in the right lane I accelerated and herd a loud bang and dark smoke started coming from my engine. It smelled often and impaired my vision. Several of my causation light illuminated and I was stuck at 60 mph my car would not accelerate and stopped working. I got over in the right lane safely and coasted for about a mile and a half to the nearest exit. Something told me do not put your foot on the brakes or you will be in serious trouble. As I got of the exit I started to brake and my car stopped and died. Oil was leaking out and nothing was working. I had to get people to push me off to the side of the road and get a tow to the dealership. They told me I had catastrophic engine failure. So my engine failed me and I could have been killed. I did research and there have been many kia's with recall and very similar situations as mine but not with my model car. I am sure this is a manufactures error and I pray kia does a recall to protect people's lives.

The failure occurred without warning. The vehicle was inspected by an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed the vehicle did not have any engine oil. The vehicle was towed van zeeland's auto care center was contacted and diagnosed the engine had seized and it would have to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired and towed back to the contacts residence. A dealer was not contacted. The contact stated there were no warning indicators prior to the failure that informed them that the vehicle needed engine oil; and the vehicle did not show signs of any leakage. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 80,000. Kh.
