I was driving my 2018 kia Soul with 89,000 miles on it and engine made a rattle noise immediately followed by a loud clunk noise out of the blue. Driving approximately 50 mph and had been driving for about 20 minutes, after the noise the engine immediately dies. I coast into the shoulder of the road and the engine is lightly smoking at this point. I had the vehicle towed to the kia dealership where they tell me the engine is blown and needs to be replaced, the shop manager also states that the 2018 kia Soul should have an engine recall in his opinion because he stated that the engine the 2018 Soul uses is the same engine that is in other kia vehicles with recalls on their engine. I have religiously performed all recommended maintenance and oil changes at manufactures prescribed time.
My vehicle keeps running out of oil and there's a knocking/rattling noise. The noise can be heard while driving. I take it to the car shop and there's no oil in the car.

At 88k miles car begins to drive sluggish causing a acceleration issue. You can also hear a whistling sound from the engine with a faint knocking sound. Took the vehicle in for inspection and it was said to be the catalytic converter and or transmission. Both were changed and vehicle is still driving sluggish.
I had received my last an oil change on 8/3/2020 at 78,901 miles on 10/20/2020 my cars oil light turned on while idling, I turned down my music and heard the engine had a slight rattle. I drove less than 6 miles trying to get to the nearest service location and the engine stalled causing me to pull over on the side of the highway. Upon inspecting the dipstick it was determined that there was little oil on my dipstick and I was sitting at less than 81,500 miles. I filled the engine with oil in hopes to get it going and it did turn on but was making an even louder rattling noise. Checking the dipstick again, pieces of metal could be seen in the very black oil. This is a similar complaint to other engine recalls kia has put out for similar engines produced during the same time frame. I took my vehicle to the local kia dealership and neither them nor my service agreement provider agreed to cover repair costs.

Motor started making a rattle noise underneath car, the the oil light and battery came on and then I pulled over turned off and restarted made a knocking noise and vibrated and so called tow truck had it towed mechanic said it through a rod.
Iin August while driving, my oil light flashed briefly and then went out. When I pulled into my driveway I checked my oil and there was barely any oil in the car. Based on my millage I was not yet do for an oil change and had not seen any indication that I was leaking oil ( not spots in driveway) I added oil and took the car to the dealership who did an oil change and began oil consumption tests. Engine is making a knocking noise constantly and rattling noise when decelerating. Oil is not leaking on ground but car is consistently losing oil. Idles rough. I have already completed 3 oil consumption tests with kia dealer who stated that there is a known issue with the 3rd cylinder rod bearing in these engines, just waiting for my diagnostic appointment.
I brought my vehicle up to benson kia to get recalls repaired on my 2015 kia Soul. There were issues with the catalytic converter due to a recall and I was informed by the servicing station at benson kia that the issue was resolved. There is a rattling noise that is coming from the vehicle. Before I drove my vehicle off the lot the ratting noise was still present. I asked them to look at the vehicle before I drove off the lot. The mechanic brent looked at the vehicle and told me that it is the resonator making the noise and it is from a build up of gas fumes from the exhaust. I was then informed that the resistor falls out of warranty. Prior to getting the recalls repaired I never heard the noise. The dealership is not wanting to fix the issue that was caused by them changing the catalytic converter and told me that they no longer help me as their me chi sonics have done all that they could and they refused service on my vehicle. They then proceeded to inform me to go to a different kia dealership to have them look at the vehicle. The dealership is approximately 30 minutes away from me and I am unable to get the vehicle to the shop.
Tl the contact owns a 2015 kia Soul. The contact stated that the vehicle was repaired under NHTSA campaign numbers: 19v120000 (engine, engine and engine cooling) and 17v608000 (steering) at benson kia of spartanburg (1100 n pine st, spartanburg, SC 29303). Upon return of the vehicle, the contact heard an abnormal rattling sound coming from the engine. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer to have additional work performed. The contact was informed that the resister located underneath the catalytic converter was the cause of the rattling noise. The dealer then informed her that the resister was not covered under the recall and offered her no further assistance. The manufacturer had not been notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 116,000.
While driving on the interstate at highway speed. Approx 70-75 mph. The engine made a rattling noise and suddenly lost power. Was able to coast to side of interstate and get off the road. Car was towed and checked by mechanic. Complete engine failure and rod thrown through bottom of engine. Car was well maintained with regular oil changes. No warning lights ever came on. Car to this point was always very reliable and never had any issues.
While driving my 2016 kia Soul going approx 60mph my car sort jerked like it was gonna stall but didn't stall instead flashed the oil light symbol several times and then the check engine light came on. I pulled over just in time for the car to stall on the side of the hwy and the car was making a rattle sound under the engine when cranked so I left it off. The next day I towed it to a kia dealership and was advised that the engine needed to be replaced due to a rod coming loose in the engine which would cost upwards of $6500-$7000. Which is half of what I owe the bank on the car upon doing some online research I see that well over 616,000 other cars like mines have reported the same issue and kia has recalled the 1. 6 liter engine but not the 2. 0 liter engine in my car. With all their cars having the same exact issue kia needs to recall all of these faulty engines and fix them free of charge. Further research stated that the manufacturer of these engines has had recalls of their engines in kia's and Hyundai's since 2012 and there are several class action lawsuits from angry customers. Please issue a recall.
I started hearing a rattling noise in my engine, I stopped to check my oil and it was extremely low. I changed my oil and oil filter then 2 days later I started hearing a metal on metal noise only when I started the car. I checked the oil again and it was low. My kia Soul is a 2. 0l engine, but the 1. 6l engine had a similar recall. Low oil pressure light and sometimes the check engine will come on. My kia has no signs of oil leaks but I've had to top off my oil too frequently.
Occasionally, the check engine light would turn on and then turn off. For only a day or two, I could hear a rattling sound upon acceleration. While driving on the highway, the noise became much louder, the engine failed and began smoking. The car became inoperable. I had the car towed to an auto shop where they showed me that a piston rod had punctured the car's engine block. I learned that the car had been recalled under NHTSA recall number 19v120. I followed recall instructions and brought the car to a local dealer. The dealer refused to repair the car. They stated that there is no proof that the engine malfunction was related to the recall.

Vehicle burst into flames after horrible rattling noise. Driving in the city going around 25 mph.
One day I heard a rattling noise while driving. The next day, the noise turned into a very loud ticking/knocking sound. I keep my oil changed every 3000 miles so it could not be that there was not any oil in the vehicle. I had it towed to the dealership as I was afraid to drive it because I had heard that the cars were catching on fire. I inquired about this and was told there were not any open recalls on engine damage with kia Souls and a diagnostic would be performed. A few days later I was informed that the engine was gone and advised $6800 to repair. The funny thing is I have been asked repeatedly, how would the engine go out in a 4 year old car? I was also advised that there was no warranty remaining on the car from the manufacturer as I was the second owner of the vehicle and the warranty ended at 60,000 miles. Ironically, my engine failed at 68,729. Now, I'm stuck with a car that doesn't run and owe almost $10000 on it. I am beyond heated with anger. I can't trade it due to the negative equity and it costs more to repair it than what the car is actually valued at.
