The exhaust manifold failed and yes, it is available for inspection. My daughter's safety was put at risk after I was advised by kia service center that I needed to replace the rocker cover and a fuel pump. My daughter experienced the burning smell of fuel and the vehicle would not accelerate and would not go above the speed limit of 20, when on an incline. I took my vehicle to kia service center on July 14, 2021 following the instructions written on the NHTSA recall # 20v750 notice I received from kia and they advised me that I needed to replace the rocker cover and a fuel pump. I paid $405 for replacement parts and service, left the service center with the impression that the vehicle was repaired. My daughter drove the vehicle back and forth to work and everything was okay until July 22, 2021 one week and a day after the repair, the mil illuminated. I took the vehicle back to the service center and I was then advised that I needed to replace the exhaust manifold and all four coils. I was also advised that the exhaust manifold is on national back order with no expected date. I was told to call kia corporate and kia corporate office has advised me that there is nothing they can do to assist me. The associate at the kia service center said I could drive the vehicle but after a while it would cause other damage to the engine. I questioned the service center manager about why would they tell me that the repair they made on the 14th fixed the issue. He informed me that they had no way of knowing what the issue was until the mil light came on. I informed him that it is an issue that there was no warning lamp to advise of the first two parts I paid for that they said was the issue. Kia would not afford towing to service center. Kia service center has confirmed that the problem with the vehicle now is the exhaust manifold. The vehicle/component have been inspected by kia service center. First visit to kia no warning lamps/messages, there was the burning smell of fuel.

Bought this vehicle used it's always using excessive oil no leaks its just using even when it was newer. Had to replace the catalytic converter because of the excessive oil burn. Had problems with poor engine performance gradually until it got severe enough it was not able to be driven. Took it in for a recall on the engine they stated it had passed all test even though there was a ticking sound coming from the engine. All so strong smell of fuel coming out the tail pipe. From my research at least couple of the items discussed here are common with these vehicles. The 1. 6 has had similar issues and had the engine recalled altogether. The 2. 0 needs a recall as well instead of with technical requirements to work around replacing all engines. I think something is wrong with the design of the engine. I'm hoping kia can recognize & resolve the issue.
Tl the contact owns a 2015 kia Soul. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 20v750000 (engine). The contact stated that while driving and depressing the accelerator pedal, the vehicle failed to respond as designed. Additional, there was an abnormal sound coming from underneath the vehicle. The contact stated that the failure occurred prior to receiving the recall notification. The contact took the vehicle to gettel kia of bradenton (6423 14th st w, bradenton, FL 34207) to be diagnosed. The dealer informed the contact that the failure on the vehicle was not related to the recall. The contact was informed that the failure was caused by the muffler. The contact disagreed and the vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 98,000.
While driving home on us highway. Speed of 55 mph posted speed limit. The engine started to knock loudly and it lost power. I almost got hit getting it to the shoulder of the highway. Oil light was on. Checked the oil and added 3 quarts. Started engine again and oil light went out and knocking was reduced. Drove another 4 miles and the engine started to knock loudly again and it lost of power again. Barley made it home by coasting downhill. Recent oil change and have maint records. No leakage, no smoke from tail pipe. Oil pressure light never came on until it was out of oil. I read many posts of others having the same exact thing as what happen to me.

The contact owns a 2016 kia Soul. The contact stated that while driving 60 mph, the vehicle loss power as the contact veered to the shoulder of the road. The contact turned the vehicle off waited for a few minutes, turned the vehicle back on which resumed normal operation. The vehicle was taken to ricart automotive group (4255 s. Hamilton rd, groveport, OH 43125, (614) 836-5321) where it was diagnosed and determined that the exhaust manifold converter failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure recurred. The contact mentioned NHTSA campaign number: 19v120000 (engine, engine and engine cooling) as a possible solution to the failure however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 85,665.
In July 2020 I was helping the national guard in the covid-19 response and on my way to the unit, I drove for about 3 minutes on the highway and then my car stalled. I was going 63 mph and then 40 mph. I had to pull over and was a little stunned as it was very dangerous to do so. I eventually was able to pull over safely. I towed my car to firestone and they said the exhaust manifold had to be changed. I paid over $800 for this. On September 7, 2020, my car stalled again. I was driving on the masspike on cruise control at 65 mph and when tried to increase my speed to switch lanes, the car did not accelerate. I then, let go of the pedal and tried to press it again, except this time, my car accelerated but the car was shaking. My engine light was blinking and then when I got to a point to stop, my car shut off on me. In both scenarios, I got my oil changed right before the issues. In July I did the oil change and three days later my car stalled. In August I got my oil changed and my car stalled two weeks later on sept. 7th. Now my entire engine has to be replaced and that costs over $8000! this is ridiculous and I will never buy a kia again. They wont even tell me how it happened because they don't know how it happened. So the cause is unknown. I cannot believe this happened. I bought the car used in 2018 at 35,000 miles and now it is at 125,000 miles. It looks like the only option is to fork out $8,000 or to throw out the car! kia will not cover anything wrong with it and they say it has nothing to do with the recall but the symptoms of the car are an exact replica of what is happening with the recall. Maybe they just do not want to admit that the engines are defective. I have seen so many complaints about this and nothing good happens. Kia, you should be ashamed of yourselves for allowing this to go on for so long.
I was waiting in the drive-thru of fast food restaurant, when my oil light started to flicker then came on solid. This is the first time the oil light had ever come on. I drove directly across the street to a gas station and shut the car off. I checked the oil level, but no oil registered on the dip stick. I added 2 quarts of oil, it now registered almost full and drove it home (approx. 1 mile). When I got home I noticed the engine was knocking. The next day I changed the oil adding one quart of lucas oil additive. The knocking did not go away and I now noticed steam coming out of my tail pipe when I was letting the engine warm up. I left my car parked in my driveway for fear of doing further damage to the engine. A few months later (when I was in a better financial position), I had my car towed to kia of riverside, where they said they would start a case with Kia Motors to run tests to determine if they would cover the failure. I had the car towed on 6/23/20. On 7/15/20, the kia dealership told me Kia Motors would not cover the repair because I was the second owner and it had 69k miles. I bought it with approx 33k miles. They say I need a new motor at a cost of over $6,600. For the record, I give my car regular oil changes and there are no external signs of an oil leak anywhere on the engine. At this time my car is still at the dealership and I have not yet seen the official diagnosis.

When my car sits for hours and you crank it and drive it and come to your first complete stop while still in drive my car will surge like its going to take off. I have taken it to kia 5 times and they never find anything wrong with it. I took it to have another shop look at it and said my converter was stopped up and had to take it back to kia for warranty work. Got to kia and they found nothing wrong again but my car is still doing this! it even has smoke come out of the tail pipe when passing someone every now and then! another problem I am having is with my sunroof, it will open but not close all the way and they are refusing to replace anything on it til the motor goes all they way out but I am having to manually close it so I am basically paying more for a car that I can not use the features on!.
Oil light flickers while stopped. When accelerating, car knocks, rattles, and loses power. Took to mechanic to check oil. Mechanic said there was less than quart of oil left in my car and it was not time for oil change. Checked tail pipe, which was black like oil had been burnt. Researched online and there are recalls for 1. 6 engines but mine is 2. 0 engine and is doing the exact same thing as 1. 6 engines that have been recalled. Burning oil through the exhaust due to a loose cam rod on exhaust piston like the other recalled vehicles. Kia needs to issue a recall for the 2. 0 engines as well. There are several other complaints I have seen for 2. 0 engines in kia's; therefore, a recall seems to be substantiated. With this car possibly stalling and locking up in regular traffic or the interstate, I am in danger of a possible wreck or causing others to wreck, injuring me or someone else needlessly.
Tl the contact owns a 2012 kia Soul. While driving 30 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. The contact was able to restart the vehicle after several attempts. Tl- the contact owns a 2014 kia Soul. The contact stated that while driving approximating 45 mph the exhaust sound suddenly became extremely loud and the vehicle speed began to decrease. The vehicle was later towed to the dealer orange park kia(6373 blanding blvd, jacksonville FL. ) who diagnosed that the catalytic converter had blown from the engine manifold. The contact was informed that because no codes were present identifying the cause of the failure the vehicle would not be serviced under the NHTSA recall campaign number 19v12000(engine) although the vehicle had experienced the same failure listed in the recall. The manufacturer was also notified of the failure but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 120,000 jft.
Tl the contact owns a 2013 kia Soul. The contact stated that the manifold, catalytic converter, gaskets, and exhaust pipe were replaced. In addition, the oil needed to be changed every 200 miles. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 124,896.

Loss of power, needs oil every 1k miles. Catalytic through the muffler clogged and had to be replaced. Everything stated in the sc176 recall for the 1. 7l engine is exactly the same on the 2. 0 been getting worse and worse wont last another year.
Tl the contact owns a 2015 kia Soul. While driving approximately 45 mph, the vehicle started to vibrate abnormally, smoke billowed from the tail pipe, and the vehicle stalled without warning. The contact was unable to restart the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to rally kia (located at 438 auto vista dr, palmdale, CA 93551, (661) 349-4639) where it was diagnosed that the engine needed to be replaced. A secondary diagnostic found a hole in the engine block. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 62,000.
My 2013 Soul plus gets exhaust into cabin especially when cold. The rear muffler or converter directs the exhaust straight down, no tail pipe. This seems to be a design flaw.
Engine looses oil out tail pipe. Doesn't leak a drop or smoke. Warm it up in garage and there is a spot of oil where exhaust exits. After fresh oil change, around 1000 miles after there is no oil on dip stick. Started happening around 80,000 miles. Told kia dealer and they said warrenty is voided since I change the oil myself and have no documents to prove. I change every 3000 miles .
The first time that this happened I was driving and was attempting to change lanes and I stepped on the gas pedal to speed up and the car hesitated after a few seconds I had power again. When the car did engage a big thick cloud of white smoke came out of the tailpipe. The second time this happen was on 5/25/2014 my wife was on a ramp trying to get on the interstate going about 30-40mph, there was a vehicle coming so she let off the gas pedal than when there was an opening she stepped on the gas pedal again and there was no power. After several seconds the car finally engaged and accelerated causing a big thick cloud of white smoke come out of the tail pipe.
