I purchased a 2014 kia Soul from doug smith autoplex on 11-19-2019. The car purchase included a 3 month/3,000 mile warranty I called in on 12-12-2019 to schedule an appointment with service to inspect a noise from the engine. The appointment was scheduled for 12-20-2019, I added a quart of oil to the engine. 12-20-2019, I went to the appointment. Rick larsen test drove the car and filled the radiator fluid. Rick told me to come back if the noise returned. Rick did not run any diagnostic tests. The scheduled appointment was covered under the warranty offered at the time of purchase. 02-14-2020 I added another 1\2 quart oil and filled the windshield fluid. A noise returned to the engine on 02-20-2020. I called at 2pm on to schedule an appointment for service. The service department set the appointment for Friday 02-21-2020. The engine seized with no warning lights ever coming on prior to it seizing 02-20-2020 evening on I-15 freeway southbound @5:40pm. The kia Soul was immediately towed to the doug smith dealership by john's towing. I was accused by the sales mgr ed of doing a faulty job of an oil change and that the oil had run out all over the undercarriage. I was later told by the same sales mgr ed, that the seal on the oil plug and filter had never been broken.

I was driving my kia on back road about 40 to 45 mph and noticed a ticking sound. I pulled over to check oil, it was low but still in hash marks. I add about a half quart of oil. Restarted and still tapping but not as loud. I drove car maybe 2 miles and noised turned into a load clacking noise. I wasn't far from home and was trying to get home. I was slowing down for stop sign and car just cut off. Brakes became hard to use and I could not steer. Had car towed to house. I let it cool down and then checked all fluids, radiator and engine oil were fine. I was able to start car but it was still clacking. I had read on line if you let in idle clacking might go away, I did and it became less clacking, I drove it around the house , we have a driveway that goes around house. 3/4 of the way around it stalled again. I was unable to restart it. Had towed to shop they are saying needs new motor. The only code on computer is cam position. I have notice that kia has had a lot of issues with other engine of same year but not the 2. 0 which is the same motor with bigger pistons. I'm scared of what would have happened if I were doing 70 on a highway if this had happened. Hard braking and steering.

After a month of leasing my kia my engine light and oil light kept reappearing. So I would check all the fluids. The engine and oil light turned off and didn't turn on for a couple of days than the oil light turned on and would not turn off. All the fluids were checked. On a 15 minute drive into town immediately the engine light came on after not appearing for a couple of days. Later on in the afternoon driving back to the residence the radiator cap flew off into the engine compartment making the car overheat. Immediately after seeing the temperature gauge go up I pulled over to the right hand side of the road where it was left until the next day when I replaced the cap. It was running a little rough so I took the car to autozone to have the codes read. Shortly after that the car just died and could not start it wouldn't even turn over. Took it to kia after and was told spark plugs had melted to the engine and that the engine needed to be replaced. After a year of sitting I took it upon myself to try to do something with the car. So I did read watch and replaced the crankshaft sensor which allowed the car to start but now the car idles really rough and there is some weird noises in the engine compartment it also still has a problem starting.

Wiring connector connected to the radiator fan assembly melted. I had replaced the radiator fan assembly a year earlier to its failure. Upon the repair shop I took my car to calling the dealer, it was mentioned this is a common problem by the dealer. The melting of this connector caused the engine to start over heating and the a/c to no longer cool. Dealer mentioned that the connector is not available and it would take replacing the whole electrical harness. The car only has about 65,000 miles on it.

The engine always smell as if the radiator is overheating even with regular maintenance check floods and oil changes. This after normal driving. I have reported the concern to the dealer with no resolution.
