36 Service Brakes problem of the 2007 Nissan Quest

Failure Date: 09/28/2008

I bought my 2007 Nissan Quest in April 2008 with only 26 miles on it. I noticed within a couple months that when going over 30 miles an hour the brakes did not engage right away and I had to pump them once or twice to get them to work much like my 20 year old car when I was a teen. In sept 08 I was in an accident when driving 35 miles an hour with a good 5-6 car lengths away when the car in front of me suddenly stopped and I could not stop. There was not enough time to pump the brakes and when I pushed hard on the brake it went mush all the way to the floor. I ended up hitting the car in front of me hitting my head and getting a concussion. I was out of work for 2 weeks, had over $6,000 damage to my van and over $4,000 damage to the car in front of me who then hit the van in front of it and caused $3,000 damage to it. In total 4 people were injured I was injured the worst and spent the night in the hospital. When the body shop sent my van over to the Nissan dealer to check the brakes they said they reset the abs and they seemed fine. I talked to them and asked where they tested the brakes their answer was in their parking lot and around the block. I asked them to drive with me over 35 miles, they refused and said the brakes were fine. Since that time I have had to drive 10+ car lengths behind everyone to make sure I have time to pump the soft brakes. If I had the money to eat the cost of buying a new van when I still owe so much on this one I would be doing it now.

38 Service Brakes problem of the 2004 Nissan Quest

Failure Date: 01/01/2008

I have a 2004 Nissan Quest I have to replace the rotors about every 5,000 miles because they warp and cause the vehicle to shake when applying the brakes. This problem has also caused damage to the wheel bearings. It seems that the brake rotors are to small for the vehicle. I cant afford to keep replacing the rotors and brakes it is unsafe for me and my family. I contacted Nissan but they wont do anything, there are reports of this problem all over the internet.

39 Service Brakes problem of the 2006 Nissan Quest

Failure Date: 06/01/2007

My Quest was purchased 12/06. Since then the odometer has malfunctioned. They would not fix it. The brake disc have malfunctioned twice, even after Nissan replaced them. The response from Nissan was "hotspots happen normally in discbrakes". The motor mounts went bad after 2. 5 years. Now I am faced, after a little more than 4 years with "power steering pump" replacement and "rack and pinion assembly.

40 Service Brakes problem of the 2004 Nissan Quest

Failure Date: 04/27/2007

The contact owns a 2004 Nissan Quest. The contact stated when driving at speeds of at least 55 mph and applying the brake, the vehicle would abnormally shake and vibrate violently. In addition, the vehicle was also pulling to the right. The vehicle was taken to the dealer at least 10 times and the dealer would only advise there were no failures in the vehicle. The dealer contributed the failure to the contacts manner of driving the vehicle. The brakes were replaced five times in an attempt to correct the failure but to no avail. The contact stated the brakes needed to be replaced again. The failure mileage was 40,330 and the current mileage was approximately 104,000.

41 Service Brakes problem of the 2004 Nissan Quest

Failure Date: 03/19/2006

: the contact stated there are multiple problems associated with the vehicle. First being, the brakes made a noise when applied. Second, while attempting to accelerate, the transmission remained in third gear. This would not allow the vehicle to accelerate properly, at any speed. Thirdly, the sliding door on the passenger's side opened while driving. The contact was able to close the door, although it took much force to do so. Lastly, the driver and passenger side vents had hot air flowing through them. The temperature gauges were adjusted; however the hot air still flowed. As a result, the air conditioner was turned on in order to maintain a comfortable temperature. The vehicle was taken to the dealer numerous times for inspection and solutions to these problems; however the problems could not be duplicated.

42 Service Brakes problem of the 2004 Nissan Quest

Failure Date: 11/26/2005

Had a crash in Nov 2005 at low speed (approximately 25 mph). The brakes seemed to simply not work. The brake pedal was pressed very hard and seemed like nothing was happening. I have had the brakes checked at every other service appointment and nothing seems to be obvious to the firestone mechanic. Also the tires skid a lot on even sandy streets. I dare not drive in snow with this elephant of a van. It gets stuck in snow on the slightest of inclines. My Nissan Quest se 2004 has had the privilege of holding up the traffic several times on the slightest incline in the road in snow. I am honestly very scared of driving in the snow. Today is the first day I have started exploring whether other people have had similar problems and found a number of them online. So I decided to do my part by sending this info in.
