1 Brake Light On problem of the 2005 Toyota Tundra

Failure Date: 04/02/2018

Got in truck, started it, brake light remained on. While driving, brakes were soft. Checked brake fluid reservoir, low on fluid. Added brake fluid, pumped brakes- pedal went to the floor. Fluid under right front wheel. Had truck taken to my mechanic - brake line rusted out, all all other lines rusted as well. Recommended all get replaced as a safety issue. Not only rust issues with this vehicle- was in the Toyota chassis recall- chassis coated with rust inhibitor. Differential rusted out- replaced at my cost. Toyota took no responsibility. Also replaced the hood release cable, emergency brake cable, as well as the two cables supporting the tailgate- all rusted out. Rear bumper rusted out too.

Multiple events. 2500 miles on vehicle. After the event the traler brake malfunction statement and warning lights were on. Pre -collision failure light reset after key cycled off and back on. Failure occurred multiple times in multiple driving conditions, currently trailer brake failure light is illuminated. Each time I had to exit or pull over and stop vehicle, cycle key to have warning clear.

3 Brake Light On problem of the 2013 Toyota Tundra

Failure Date: 01/21/2017

I was pulling into my driveway, about to park. When I braked it was as if the "power" in the power brakes had failed. I had to stomp on the pedal. I nearly hit my house. This was one week ago. Today, as I left a parking lot, I noticed it happen again: very little stopping power, but no softness in the pedal. I placed the transmission in park and saw no brake fluid under the truck. I began driving slowly again, and had to stomp the pedal to obtain braking power. The brake light suddenly came on. A click or pulse occured in the brakes, felt through the pedal, and suddenly the brakes began functioning properly. The brake light remained lit until I stopped and restarted the truck. Upon restarting the truck, everything functioned normally, and the brake light did not light again. I will not drive the truck until it gets into the dealer (they're booked for 3 days). This is a serious safety concern, and I see that another owner has reported a similar problem. Please investigate this!.

5 Brake Light On problem of the 2010 Toyota Tundra

Failure Date: 04/04/2016

My vehicle began to display the vsc (vehicle stability control) light, constantly on, last week when I turned it on. Several days later the brake light and abs light also became constantly on. I decided to take it to the nearest Toyota dealer and they stated that the vehicle is giving the following codes: c1203 - ecm communication circuit c1232 - deceleration sensor c1336 - zero point calibration of deceleration sensor undone the service manager told me that they were going to try to re-flash the computer and calibrate affected items but if it wasn't possible that the sensor assembly, yaw sensor was bad and needed replacement, totaling $1305. 2 hours later he called me back to tell me that they couldn't re-flash the computer and that the issue is not the sensor assembly, yaw sensor but the abs actuator assembly, totaling over $2700. I'm reporting this since I've seen a bunch of similar cases but nothing concrete from Toyota. I really don't know if this issue is un-safe or not since there are no physical symptoms except not having abs nor traction control.

6 Brake Light On problem of the 2008 Toyota Tundra

Failure Date: 03/11/2014

I started my truck and noticed that the abs brake light was on and the vehicle stability control (vsc) light and the 4-hi and 4-lo lights were flashing as well. The parking lot I was in was mostly empty and slick, so I tried a hard breaking and sure enough the abs system fails to operate. I tried to accelerate and the vsc failed to work as well. I tried to shift into 4 wheel drive and that failed as well. I went online and found a number of forums where others talked about having the exact same failure. Some stated that the wiring harness failed, others that it was a bad connection. I feel that a failure like this without warning can put drivers at risk. We have come to rely on these technology advances making our vehicles safer to drive, and if they fail without warning, in the middle of a hard braking situation, this could lead to disastrous situation and possible loss of life.

11 Brake Light On problem of the 2008 Toyota Tundra

Failure Date: 09/11/2010

This is a 2008 Tundra v8, 4. 7l. I purchased the vehicle in may of 2009 brand new. It currently has 17,000 miles. Approximately sept 11, 2010 the dash light warning for brakes started blinking. I stopped turned off engine and restarted. Brake light came on steady. I pushed in the emergency brake and then released. Still brake light on. I drove for couple of hours with light on. Brakes did seem to work correctly. I had an oil and service maintenance completed in July 2010, and nothing was noted. On sept 20, 2010 the brake light was still solid red, so I took the vehicle to the dealership where I bought it from about 18 months ago. Service rep first checked brake fluid and it was near empty. A few more days and probably no brakes at all according to service rep. I get a call later in day and told "master cylinder and brake booster need replacing, under warranty".

12 Brake Light On problem of the 2000 Toyota Tundra

Failure Date: 02/04/2010

Toyota vehicles have another safety flaw that seems to be systemic across many models. My 2000 Tundra has a braking quirk where the brakes under light to moderate braking cause a pulsating shudder in the vehicle. My wife's 2001 avalon does the same thing as did her 1993 camry. Several friends with Toyota or Lexus vehicles have reported similar experiences. The quirk isn't consistent, at times it isn't noticeable and at times it feels like you could lose control of the vehicle. When taken to the dealer the response is that it is the tires, or maybe that they turned the rotors but the end result after balancing tires, replacing them or turning the rotors the quirks remains. It may appear to go away for a while but returns.

13 Brake Light On problem of the 2010 Toyota Tundra

Failure Date: 02/01/2010

The brake light and the traction control lights went on one morn. Later that evening the accelerator did not disengage. I applied my brakes, and could not stop my 2010 Toyota Tundra! when I eventually lost control to avoid a collision with other cars on the road. I crashed my truck into a tree and off road into a ditch a 100 yards from the road.

14 Brake Light On problem of the 2000 Toyota Tundra

Failure Date: 06/01/2007

The contact owns a 2000 Toyota Tundra. The contact stated while braking to a complete stop, there was an abnormal bang from the rear of the vehicle. The dealer advised the rear axle was fractured and the axle was replaced. In addition, the contact noticed an unknown leak coming from the rear wheels. The dealer replaced the brake seals to correct the failure. The failure recurred within eight months. The dealer then replaced the brake seals and shoes. Within one year, while driving at 60 mph and depressing the brakes, there was an abnormal increase in stopping distance and the brake warning light illuminated on the warning panel. The contact replaced the brake line himself to correct the failure. The failure mileage was 80,000 and the current mileage was 128,000.

17 Brake Light On problem of the 2001 Toyota Tundra

Failure Date: 04/01/2002

Brake pedal fades under pressure and acts inconsistently. At times the brakes engage near the top of the pedal and at other times almost at the floor. Brake light has come on several times. Parking brake will engage after three or four clicks and the next time will not engage almost to floor. Dealer has replaced pads, drums, disks, etc. Dealer and Toyota motor sales will not return calls, letters, etc.

18 Brake Light On problem of the 2000 Toyota Tundra

Failure Date: 08/16/2000

Rapid pulsating of brakes under light to moderate braking at almost any speed. Suspect a design defect in the anti-lock brake system. Took vehicle to Toyota several times, was told "nothing wrong", brake rotors were turned finally after some insistence on my part. Problem seemed to go away but came back. Brakes have been done again and problem still occurs. This phenomenon has been observed in several other Toyota vehicles we have owned, a 1993 camry, a 2001 avalon and a 2005 Lexus es330. Problem doesn't occur every time brakes are applied and can be barely noticeable with a slight wobble in the steering wheel to an almost violent shaking that could cause loss of control. Problem seems to be worse during warmer weather.
