Takata recall. I am a very concerned husband of a wife who drives a car affected by the takata inflator recall. Volkswagen ag is taking an unacceptable amount of time fixing the recall of an item that clearly is a life/death risk. I am disgusted by Volkswagen's lack of urgency with the issue. I want to know what my options are as the little consumer who spent hard-earned money to buy from a multi-billion dollar corporation.
Nhtsa recall number: 16v078 recall date: February 9, 2016 manufacturer recall number: 69m9. Manufacturer has failed or is unable to remedy this safety recall for your vehicle in a timely manner. Potential is for, in the event of an inflator rupture, metal fragments could pass through the airbag cushion material, which may result in serious injury or death to vehicle occupants. It has been 6 months since I received notice of the defect. This is ridiculous to allow drivers to be in harms way for this long.

Takata recall. My airbag inflator has not been replaced in over a year-and-a-half since the recall started. Every time I call Volkswagen they tell me there's no fix available. I live in arizona where it's hot and dry can't trade in my car cause the trade in value has plummeted do to safety concerns and non drivability.
Needs replacement of driver airbag inflator ( defective).
Takata inflators, airbag inflated on it's own while turning left into a parking lot and caused my wife to loose control and hit a stationary object-sign pole causing major damage ($8,000) to this vehicle. Vehicle in repair facility for almost 2 months awaiting replacement airbag and seatbelt part from vw. Airbag inflated and seatbelt locked up on passenger side.
All steering wheel functions have stopped working including the horn. The airbag icon shows an "error" message. The steering wheel makes a cracking sound when it turns. Identical problem as in the NHTSA investigation #pe15010. I am concerned that the airbag will not deploy in the event of an accident. Problem appears to steering wheel clock spring/steering column control module (sccm). Dealer wants over $ 500 to replace it. The car has less than 58,000 miles and was purchased brand new in 2012.

I was told that my airbag issue was due to the sensor getting wet and I had to pay to fix it, and then I receive letter saying my inflator is part of recall, the first recall on my car for the daytime driving light still has not fix, its been in the shop at least three times, on top of that you can move the gears in my car without pressing anything or braking. .
: the contact stated while driving various speeds, the airbag light illuminated intermittently without incident. The vehicle was inspected by a dealer who determined the front driver side airbag inflater module needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was alerted. Updated 10/31/06.

Loose airbag igniter connection under the steering wheel, causing the airbag system to deactivate itself. This incident is frequent as reported by many owners on various online forums (audiworld, vwvortex, usenet newsgroups, etc). An internet search on "airbag igniter: driver side resistance too high" on google returned numerous reporting on this issue. In my particular instance, this has happened on both a 1999 vw Passat 1. 8t/20v and a 2000 vw golf 1. 9l tdi.
