car   Fuel Delivery problem of Chevrolet Venture

The vehicle involved was a 2005 Chevrolet Venture. VIN of the vehicle was 1GNDV23E15_. With over a quarter of tank of gas the automobile was parked on a decline. The front of the automobile was lower than the rear of the automobile. After getting back into the automobile after being away for about an hour and a half, the automobile would not start. The low fuel light was on and at that decline the automobile could not use the quarter of tank of gas available. I had to walk over a mile to get another two gallons and put it into the automobile which then allowed it to start. This is unacceptable behavior for an automobile with that much gas in the tank. This problem occurred on Saturday, June 11, 2005.

car   Fuel Delivery problem of Chevrolet Venture

The vehicle involved is a 2003 Chevrolet Venture. For nearly 6 months my minivan engine would shut-off while I was idling while parked, waiting to pickup and transport children to next stop. Once it cut off while I was driving on a city road. Luckily, I was able turn the wheel enough to coast onto a side street. Curiously, when various tow operators came to tow the van directly to dealer, they too were not able to restart the engine--there is no noise, no crank. By the time the mechanics got to the van in the morning, they reported that they could not duplicate the problem. The final time and approximately 4th time I experienced engine cut-off, I had my husband pickup the children and I. We ate dinner, then later returned to the van. It started just fine and I drove it home. The next day I drove it to the dealer and was insistent that the dealer find and fix the problem. Dealer replaced fuel pump and filter. Because of history of the complaint, I paid for parts but not labor, $470. I also paid for a routine fuel injection cleaning, $150. The problem has not recurred. It was Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2006 when this fuel delivery issue occurred.

car   Fuel Delivery problem of Hyundai XG350

I bought the 2004 Hyundai Xg350 in February 05. In summer of 06 I began having problems with the digital reading of miles togo before "e". It does not reset when gas has been put in, it takes a few turns of the key to register. I was driving my son to school one morning and as I tried to accelerate to go up a hill the car began to studder, check engine light appeared,it felt like something wasnt catching in order for the vehicle to move. When I stopped a the red light and slowly took my foot off the brake it would lunge forward. I ended up having to have it towed to the dealer. Of course the problem didnt happen when they test drove. They changed the sensor and it hasnt been symptom free. Still slow to reset gas mileage, still studders, check engine light. When it starts to studder I am able to drive under 60mph, shifting drive 1-2-3 like a stick shift. Once I try to go over 60 miles per hour (highway) can not do it without continuous studder. Air conditioner still does not cool properly and has been in shop several times. Dealership says there is a leak in the a/c coolant, but they cannot find it. 3. Car continually stutters at high speeds, dealership has replaced numerous parts, but problem persists. 4. Engine began making clacking noise about 2 months ago. Dealership said bad gas was cause, but high-grade gasoline has not fixed problem. Dealership said I needed a tune-up, but that did not fix problem. Dealership says they cannot hear noise, but noise is clearly audible when accelerated and climbing hills (2-4 rpms). Dealership still says they don't hear a problem and cannot find anything wrong. This is of major concern to me, as I'm afraid the engine will blow up while on a major highway. 5. Airbag light came on about a month ago, and won't go off, although nothing is wrong is airbags. 6. Radio has a short that causes radio to go on and off intermittently. If a cd is put in the cd player and left there while radio is in use, the radio works fine. 7. car   Fuel Delivery problem of Jeep Wrangler

The car involved was a 2005 Jeep Wrangler. Normal driving results in a change in the shifting action of the automatic electronic transmission. If the vehicle is warm the electronic buzz lengthens and prevents the shifting from one gear position to the next. The transmission rumbles and skips before changing to the next gear for a second or more. The gears clearly are not engaging in a timely manner and prevents ready movement after shifting to a new gear position. After long drives this is noticeable during normal unhurried parking maneuvers. This action was initially observed at about 384 miles on odometer and brought to the attention of the dealer. The second problems has occurred on 5 or more occasions where the idle speed does not go to normal after removing pressure from the accelerator. Was first noticed on hills in city of san francisco and has been noticed in traffic on several other occasions. The engine noise is quite audible when this occurs and idles above 1000 and carries vehicle at 10 plus mph on flat surfaces. The vehicle also surges after short drives and is noticeable in parking lots or garage parking. There have been three "dangerous" instances while in traffic. This will occur in both reverse and forward drives. The drive train also has a loud resonating sound which sounds as though the rotating is not uniform at low speeds. The dealer says this is a normal sound. All of these concerns were observed after about 300 miles and brought to the attention of the dealer. The dealer does not acknowledge hearing the gear sounds, said the idle would adjust after 3600 miles and has not addressed the surging. It was 04/15/2005 when this fuel delivery issue occurred.

car   Fuel Delivery problem of Land Rover Freelander

The vehicle involved is a 2002 Land Rover Freelander. During the repair of our transmission, we began to get check engine lights. After the transmission was fixed, it was taken to the dealer for service. Upon driving to the dealer, the car had no power. This became very difficult to drive and dangerous. Trying to get up to the 65 mph speed limit on a freeway took almost 2 miles. I was also worried the car would stall in traffic due to this condition. The car was serviced and it was determined that the mass airflow sensor and the variable intake motors 1 and 2 had failed. The variable intake motors had failed 15,000 miles /12 months before and were replaced during the long block replacement. After all repairs were completed the car was taken home. The next day the check engine light came on. The following day I scheduled an appointment. During the drive to the dealer, the same power problems were present. This made driving this car dangerous in that there was no way to know if it would accelerate. The dealer then determined that the air intake manifold gasket had cracked. This too was a new part from the long block repair 15,000 miles /12 months prior. Right now this repair is being performed. The Land Rover dealer acknowledges that these car should not be owned without any type of warranty due to the numerous problems. This fuel delivery problem happened on Jan. 7, 2007.

car   Fuel Delivery problem of SAAB 95

The car involved is a 2001 SAAB 9-5. There were no unusual events leading to the failure. My wife was driving a 2001 SAAB 9-5 station wagon when the engine shut down and she lost all power. Thankfully she was driving on a local road and managed to pull over to the side. The engine would not restart and we had it towed to a local garage. The person who towed said he thought it was a "crank sensor" that failed and when it fails it completely shuts down the gas to the engine. I had it repaired and the local mechanic confirmed that it was a sensor that he called direct ignition which includes the cam sensor . My concern is that if it happened on a highway at 65 mph, there would have been a serious accident. I don't understand how a car can totally shut down like that without any warning. SAAB would not take my complaint because I did not have it checked at their garage. I think that policy, when it comes to safety, is ludicrous!. car   Fuel Delivery problem of Subaru Outback

The vehicle is a 2007 Subaru Outback. This is a 2007 Outback 2. 5i pzev with 5-speed manual transmission. When accelerating from a stop, the engine will bog down unless the engine is revved high prior to releasing the clutch. When it bogs down, the result is very slow acceleration. This is especially dangerous when turning left in traffic. To get the car out of this mode, the clutch need to be pushed in again and the engine revved to a higher rpm. Once the clutch is released, the car lunges forward and accelerates quickly. There seems to be no way to accelerate smoothly and quickly. This problem only occurs when using gasoline with 10% ethanol and is much worse with mobil regular gas. This fuel delivery issue occurred Apr. 18, 2007.

car   Fuel Delivery problem of Toyota Tundra

The vehicle involved is a 2006 Toyota Tundra. Thursday 5/11/06 idle upon start up goes to 2000 rpm, and stays there for approximately 1-1 1/2 minutes, before slowing dropping down to around 1500 rpm. It seemed to really be straining against the brake, when I put it into drive, again, not the feel it had when it was brand new. Friday 5/12/06 it not only had the high idle, but while driving at highway speeds seemed to have a random surge while driving. Couldn't detect a pattern to it, whether on incline, decline, or flat roadway. Upon arriving at work, I placed the transmission into park, and idle was approximately 750 rpm (by dash tach) when suddenly it raced up to 1500 rpm, stay there for about 30 - 45 seconds, then returned to 750 rpm. This surge situation certainly presents a possible safety problem, if the surge was to override the brake pressure and lurch forward at stop, or in bumper to bumper traffic. This fuel delivery issue occurred Fri., May. 12, 2006.

car   Fuel Delivery problem of Volkswagen Passat

The vehicle was a 2002 Volkswagen Passat. VIN of the vehicle was WVWTH63B82_. Since early 2009, there has been an evap system problem with my 2002 vw Passat 4motion. This has caused me endless hassle and significant expense over the last 4 years. After 3 failed attempts to get the problem diagnosed, a dealer finally identified the problem in 2011 as a fuel vapor leak from the fuel tank. No mention was made of the 2008 recall (vwoa #25e5/r6, NHTSA #08v156000) covering such fuel leaks. After (re-)discovering the recall notice in 2013, I contacted both vw and two separate dealers; all indicated that since my vehicle was serviced in 2008 under the recall (though only the underbody heat shield was replaced; the gas tank and related parts may or may not have been "inspected" but the dealership no longer has those records nor does vw have those details), vw would not cover the fuel tank replacement. I have since contacted vw again, who have agreed to look into the matter but require me to pay to have the vehicle re-diagnosed. Since this is a safety matter (a leak at the gas tank could start a fire), it seems clear that vw's responsibilities in the matter should not be limited to merely "inspecting" the affected parts once with no oversight or follow-up, as has happened in this case. This problem occurred on September 15, 2010.

car   Fuel Delivery problem of Volvo XC70

The vehicle was a 2001 Volvo Xc70. I was driving on the interstate at roughly 70 mph in moderate traffic with my wife and 2 young boys when the accelerator no longer responded. The vehicle would surge when I stepped on the gas then "stall". The check engine light appeared with a message "performance reduced". Fortunately we rolled off the highway over the median and onto the frontage road and into a parking lot where we stopped the car and restarted it. We called the dealer who instructed us to bring it in right away to have it diagnosed. This was actually the second occurrence of this failure the first being a week early on July 9th with similar circumstances. In the first one our steering wheel locked up as we entered a gas station. We were told we needed a new throttle body approximately $900 to replace. We only had the vehicle for 6 weeks so were obviously unhappy. Although no one was harmed in the case of our failures there certainly was the potential given the high speed of travel and traffic surrounding us. We are fortunate to have been driving in the right hand lane in both instances. The Volvo dealer retained the old etm. It was 07/16/2005 when this fuel delivery issue occurred.

car   Fuel Delivery problem of Volvo XC70

The car involved is a 2001 Volvo Xc70. The vehicle's vehicle identification number (VIN) is YV1SZ58D41_. Our family owns a 2001 Xc70 that we bought second hand. Thankfully, I purchased an extended warranty. We did receive the Dec 2005 software upgrade which appeared odd, but we complied. Since then the car actually started to run more poorly. We brought the car to the local dealership in ann arbor several times. After I spoke to the service manager and suggested that I had read about the etm failure and was concerned, I was told that they would fix it under warranty. Dealership was very courteous, but I suspect that their hands are tied as one of the service managers told me that Volvo warranty required them to do the software upgrade, then the cleaning and then they could replace the etm. My concern is that the new etm will fail again and pose a danger to my family. My wife uses the Volvo to transport our three children in. I find it outrageous that if it is true that Volvo intentional mislead the public about this safety defect given that I did not have a problem paying premium dollar for our first Volvo because of its reputation and advertising regarding its exemplary safety record. I would be willing to help your agency investigate this problem if you need me. It was Monday, September 25, 2006 when this fuel delivery issue occurred.

car   Fuel Delivery problem of BMW X5

The vehicle's vehicle identification number (VIN) is 5UXFE43548_. 2008 BMW X5 3. 0si. Attorney writes on behalf of client in regards to incompetent repairs the consumer took the vehicle to the dealer, because the check engine light illuminated. Pursuant to a voluntary national BMW recall, the dealer replaced the fuel delivery unit on the vehicle. Eight days later, the vehicle stalled in the middle of the road. The entire electrical system shut down. The consumer was unsuccessful at trying to restart the vehicle as it would not come out of park. A BMW technician came to the consumers location and his inspection revealed an issue with the fuel delivery system. The exact issue that the dealer had supposedly addressed a week prior. The gas gauge showed the gas level at a little under half a tank, when in fact the vehicle had ran out of gas. Apparently, the level float was stuck on the tank siphon which obstructed a proper reading of how much gas was in the tank. This problem occurred on March 15, 2011.

car   Fuel Delivery problem of Jaguar XJ8

I have a 1998 Jaguar Xj8. The vehicle stalls at high speeds, generally after I accelerate over 50 mph. The vehicle is extremely difficult to control and can only be restarted if you bring it to a stop. I had this happen while driving the car in CA. I was almost killed when the vehicle stalled. Jaguar dealer, santa monica, repaired as cyl burn out. Mechanic told me stalling happened frequently with this model. A few years later, san antonio TX on the 183 highway rush hour. Car stalled causing me to swerve next to center median ripping off the engine cover on debris. Jaguar fixed throttle body not engine cover. Service bulletin, defective throttle body. Car ran poorly thereafter. Stalled again year later. Dealer would not repair. $3,000 to fix. . Recently discovered consumers world wide have same problem. Service bulletin repair only short term fix. Jaguar blog in the uk -consumer discovered from a Jaguar mechanic , most throttle bodies needed to be cleaned periodically as the lining bad and build up or deposits would form on the walls of the throttle body and cause it to malfunction. My mechanic had heard of similar problems. I called several Jaguar dealerships. I was told, off the record, that I could clean the throttle and get by, but certain cleaners would cause the lining to deteriorate. I was told the replacement was a rip off, off the record. Using the appropriate cleaner, the assembly was cleaned without removal. When we turned on the vehicle smoke billowed out of the exhaust for several minutes and then subsided. The vehicle now runs perfectly. Jaguar is profiting from replacement of parts that could be cleaned and need top be cleaned regularly. Replacements effective short term only. Your form allows only "s" type equip". This is a Xj8. This fuel delivery issue occurred Friday, Jan. 5, 2007.
