Gasoline Fuel System problem is a common vehicle problem that happens to most car brands and models. The following is a sample list of Gasoline Fuel System problems reported in most popular vehicles.
The vehicle was a 2013 Chevrolet Avalanche. The VIN of the car is 3GNTKGE76D_. My Avalanche has developed a rough idle at times ever since new. Sometimes it is rougher than other times and is not constant. I had it to the dealer two times and contacted Chevrolet support. Dealer claims there is no problem and since there are no TSB's there is nothing they can do to correct. One dealer said the fuel trim levels are very lean which causes the rough idle. I never had a vehicle with an idle like this and believe the fuel trim levels could be adjusted in the computer to smooth out the idle. Chevrolet support just directs me back to the dealer in a circle. The vehicle has not stalled out yet but I do not want that to happen which could cause a safety issue while stopped at an intersection or making a turn. The idle for a computer controlled engine in a vehicle this expensive should idle rock solid, thanks for looking into this for me. This problem occurred on Feb. 18, 2013.

The owner has a 2009 Chevrolet Impala. The contact stated that while driving approximately 70 mph, the engine warning indicator illuminated then the engine stalled. The vehicle was able to be restarted 20 minutes later. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer for diagnosis. The technician detected that the accelerator pedal, accelerator position sensor connector, and fuel vent solenoid was faulty. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 70,000. It was August 23, 2013 when this gasoline fuel system issue happened.

The vehicle involved is a 2006 Dodge Charger. I have a 2006 Dodge daytona r/t Charger. In January of this year, with ~185k thousand miles on the car, it began stalling after fueling. The car will suddenly die and causes loss of power steering and brakes, and is often difficult to restart. This is causing extremely dangerous conditions, as it occurs when pulling out into traffic and/or moving through intersections. Because the car suddenly stalls, you are left in the middle of the street and at times, fast-moving traffic and unable to start the car to move it out of the way. This gasoline fuel system problem happened on Jan. 18, 2014.

The vehicle involved was a 2006 Dodge Charger. The vehicle identification number (VIN) is 2B3KA53H36_. Refilled with fuel and as I was pulling out on to the street the car stalled. I restarted and began to drive. It stalled a 2nd time. After I got it started again it seemed ok. Every since then, every time I fill up it stalls out. I have to sit in the gas station lot and let it run until it stalls out. I afraid to drive on the street as I might get into an accident. After it stalls out a couple of time in the gas station lot, it doesn't do it again until I fill up again. This issue happened on Wednesday, December 18, 2013.

The VIN of this Transit Connect is MN0KS9CN5C_. 2012 Ford Transit Connect. Consumer writes in regards to misleading gas mileage, radio problems, vehicle locking itself with key in the ignition while engine running and several other issues. The consumer also stated the wipers were not clearly the snow and rain from the windshield. The wipers were coming off the windshields surface. The windshield wiper fluid was freezing and the amount of heat coming from the defroster wasn't enough to handle the freezing windshield, which caused the obstruction and loss of vision. It was 05/01/2014 when this gasoline fuel system issue happened.

The vehicle having this issue was a 2010 Ford Escape. On Dec. 31 at approximately 2 p. M. I was driving south on citrus Ave. I was going 55 mph and my vehicle started losing speed. I moved to the side of the road. I turned off the ignition and when I restarted the car it ran as normal. Prior to that, on several occasions upon starting from a stop I had noticed faster acceleration than the amount of pressure I was applying to the gas pedal. This gasoline fuel system issue occurred Monday, Mar. 31, 2014.

The car involved was a 2007 GMC Yukon denali. The vehicle's vehicle identification number (VIN) was 1GKFK63867_. I was traveling on the freeway at about 70 mph coming from a supervision training class along with a CO-worker and the following sensor lights started appearing on my dashboard: traction control off, stabilitrak off. This has continued to happen on a regular basis. I have taken it to the gm service at least twice and private repair facilities numerous times and the situation continues. It is now 01-28-2014 and the situation continues and is getting worse. Alone with the above issues now the "reduce engine power" light comes on and the engine shuts down. It has become very dangerous to drive this vehicle and no repair facility, gm or otherwise, knows how to fix the problem. I have to drive so this vehicle is what I drive but, it is dangerous and gm needs to fix it or recall for this issue. I need answers quickly I fear this issue is dangerous for all concerned especially when this happens on a freeway!!. It was 02/03/12 when this gasoline fuel system issue happened.

2011 GMC Terrain. Consumer writes in regards to engine problems and several other issues with vehicle. The consumer stated the district manager of gm refused to allow the dealer to check the ecm/ecu and other appropriate systems, to make sure all the engine settings were as they should be, since he experienced several strange events, such as the shifter hanging in d sometimes as he tried to move to park, very low mpg for several days 24-25 mpg, when he usually got 28-33 mpg. The oil percent meter used to be at 95%. The engine would rev to 7k-8k rpm when the first started and held 2-3 seconds. Sometimes the engine revved to 1600-1800 rpm and the vehicle would almost stall, and sometimes the malfunction indicator light would illuminate on the instrument panel. Soon after, the fan belt began to squeal. The squealing began, when the vehicle was started or when driving at various speeds with the ac on, and going up some slopped highways, roads and streets. The dealer replaced the belt. In the summer of 2011, when the vehicle was started the engine would make a chattering-tapping metal-to-metal sound, as it there were no oil in the engine. The problem would occur with a cold or hot engine. The problem stopped after p0011 error solenoid was replaced. The failure date was Monday, December 27, 2010.

The vehicle involved was a 2011 Acura Mdx. Car experienced unintended acceleration in a shopping center parking lot. 4th time this has occurred (very intermittent). Car was stopped while in drive waiting for traffic in front of me when the engine starting revving. . . Had to keep my foot down on the brake to avoid hitting the fellow in front of me. Forced the gear shift back into neutral then revving subsided. Took car to dealership who thought problem might be related to intermittent disruption between electronic control master and power control master modules. . Dealer said they "relearned" the connection between the two modules. It was 01/26/14 when this gasoline fuel system issue happened.

The vehicle having this issue was a 2004 Acura Mdx. On the highway going 65 mph when the acceleration suddenly froze up, rpms shot up to 4000 -5000, the car started shaking and I had to quickly pull to the side of the highway to avoid being crashed into by other cars. After I pulled over, I turned off the engine, then re-started, so I resumed driving but after driving two miles my car did the same thing once it hit 2500 rpms. Again I pulled over. I restarted my car again and slowly drove my car home. The next day, I called an Acura dealership, explained the situation to a service provider. They said they couldn't diagnosis over the phone and said they did not know about a relevant recall. I then had my car towed to a nearby repair shop where they told me that the car would not reverse or accelerate. The service man said he thinks the transmission is broken. I'm now reading how this is very common problem with the '04 Mdx. My mother called Acura to say that I have read that this issue seems to be a very common occurrence with '04 Mdxs but was told that they would not help and were not aware of this make/model having issues with anything other than the rear differential torque converter. The woman she spoke with was very rude and very dismissive. Said my car was too old for Acura to be responsible for any mechanical issues and that I had never had the car serviced (which I have. ) she was very condescending in her speech to my mother despite the fact that this is a known common problem and which almost killed me. They should make people aware that the torque converter problem is only the "tip of the iceberg" within a potentially much broader scope problem. Had I known, I sure would have addressed this before almost getting killed!! how many people didn't get their torque converter replaced because they did not know the big picture??. The failure date was Monday, January 20, 2014.

Vehicle identification number (VIN): 1HGCR2F74D_. Since I first purchased my 2013 Honda Accord, the Honda has intermittent hesitations after stopping at traffic lights, stop signs, parking and so forth. For instance, for the second time in the last five days, I stopped, went into a store, returned, cranked Honda Accord, backed out, and the car would not "go. " it simply "stalled" , February 03, 2014. This was mentioned in 2012 to service manager, [xxx], at Honda dealership service center; in mobile, al, he had one of his technicians to test drive my Honda. Technician returned and claimed, after testing, and test drive, that he could find nothing wrong. I did not receive any paperwork other than a verbal assurance that I was probably just getting adjusted to the "new car. " after that, every two weeks or so, I would have a "whole week of intermittent" hesitations and stallings. This is very dangerous when trying to get through a traffic light - I have to really press down on the accelerator for the car to finely decide to "go". This problem was verbally reported again to [xxx], service manager, and technicians, January 10, 2013 - miles 5,384. The report was, "give it some time, the car is still new. " - now, at 24,200 miles, this 2013 Honda Accord still scares me. Yesterday (2/3/2014), at a four-way stop, my Honda stalled, the engine did not "turn off", but the car would not "go. " for about 15 seconds which is dangerous when in the middle of the road. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6). This problem occurred on November 7, 2012.

The vehicle is a 2011 Kia Motor Sorento. The VIN of this vehicle is 5XYKU4A20B_. When coming to a stop at a light or stop sign, usually on a slight downhill slope, the vehicle engine dies completely. It usually happens after the vehicle has be driven for 10-15 minutes, parked for 10-15 minutes then driven again for ten minutes. Once it dies I am able to start it up right away. It is a push start "key" and the car dies after I apply the brakes and am very near to a complete stop. This has happened within a few months of purchase and occurs randomly, every few months. It has happened six to ten times since I purchased the car. I have brought it into the dealer at least three times and the computer comes back with no codes. They can't replicate it and do not know what to fix. Today, the dealer installed a monitor for me to use for two weeks to see if it happens and we can capture the info in real time. Kia manufacturer customer service was abominable. I am trying to get a field technician to look at it and communicate with the dealer. This problem occurred on Jul. 29, 2011.

The vehicle having this issue was a 2010 Kia Motor Forte. The VIN of the car is KNAFU4A28A_. Our 2010 kia Forte ex lost 90% of power repeatedly (rpms drop to idle, regardless of throttle position) at speeds from 0-35mph. This is not the first occurrence, but I think it is the same problem. This is very dangerous if you are making a left turn and you lose acceleration, you can be in the way of oncoming traffic by losing power. About 2 years ago (25,000 miles or so) the tps (throttle position sensor) went out. Kia could not diagnose it until it threw a code (lame). Now we get the same issue, the vehicle is stalling, or "stumbling" when the speed should be constant or accelerating, but there is no engine code for the code reader to pickup yet, so the mechanics can't figure out what to do. Apparently this is a problem on many models of kia/Hyundai and the mechanics don't recognize it so they can't fix it, and you are stuck with a dangerous condition. I think there should be a recall of these faulty tps sensors. Kia/Hyundai should at least issue a safety TSB (technical service bulletin) to clue in their mechanics as to what the problem is. I just purchased this car (Lexus Es 300 2002 sedan) for my daughter less than a week ago on 4/11/2014 from a private owner, with 267,000 miles and it ran well for a transportation vehicle, seems to have been well cared for mechanically, interior and exterior is in great shape and was checked out my friend a longtime mechanic. My daughter had just left the dmv which was closed today 4/18/2014 and street driving back home. The car made a loud popping sound, smoke started from under the hood and soon flames and she had to pull over and ditch the car. Soon it blazed and the whole front end, engine, windshield the front tires all burned. Fire and police departments showed up, extinguished the fire and did traffic control. The fire damage was control to the front and engine, the firewall did it's job. All the interiors, dash and console are all in tact and in good condition no smoke damage. The vehicle involved is a 2013 Lincoln Mks. I went to cal worthington in anchorage alaska where I bought my car to have the recall 13s04 fuel delivery module replaced. Now less than a week with the new module, the module is leaking and the gas fumes are overwhelming inside my garage. I parked my car outside last night to be sure it was the car. I pulled it back in this morning and right away the garage was overwhelmed with gas fumes. The dealership is a 3 hour drive one way for me. I am tired of mechanics leaving things uncompleted. They didn't hook my heated seats back in after working on it. Wires were hanging out of the bottom and my motor protector shield was not screwed in. Also, 3 weeks ago, another couple in the area owned a 2013 Lincoln Mks similar to mine. It caught on fire while waiting for their food in a mcdonalds drive thru. It completely burned up. The car is a 2006 Mazda Tribute. For the past year, the vehicle's accelerator/gas pedal has at times felt "stuck" so that the driver must press down harder than normal to accelerate. Originally the driver was under the impression that the mat was obstructing the gas pedal's ability to be depressed. Over time however, the vehicle has shown an increased difficulty in the gas pedal being depressed. Most recently, on January 23, 2014, the vehicle was idling while in traffic. When the driver attempted to press down on the accelerator, the gas pedal did not move. The driver was forced to press hard on the accelerator, and when doing so, the accelerator became "stuck" and quickly jolted the vehicle forward. The driver had to immediately press down on the brake to avoid collision with the vehicle in front. The speed at the time was less than 15 miles per hour and the driver was able to come to a stop avoiding collision. Since the incident on January 23, the vehicle's gas pedal has increasingly shown more "sticking" and has become very hard to accelerate without applying a great amount of pressure down on the pedal. This causes concern as the vehicle quickly accelerates in a jump-like manner rather than slowly accelerating to a comfortable driving speed. The 2006 Mazda Tribute is a 4 cylinder and the manufacturer has not issued a recall at this time. It was Tuesday, January 1, 2013 when this gasoline fuel system issue occurred.

The VIN of the problem Milan is 3MEHM0JG1A_. 2010 Mercury Milan with 3. 0 liter v-6 build date March 2010. Car went into limited limp mode while it was being driven at less than 30 mph. This has happened on three occasions. Each time the engine drops to a rough idle at 500 to 900 rpm and the "wrench" light is illuminated. Engine does not respond to throttle input. Car speed drops drastically but steering and brakes appear to operate normally. (engine is still running an close to normal idle speeds. ) engine does not produce enough power to go up the slightest of inclines. After restarting, the engine the condition clears and car drives normally. Portable obdii scan tools do not indicate any dtc codes. Dealer replaced throttle body mechanism due to an intermittent short in the position sensing circuit. Dealer kept old unit due to core charge. This is a safety concern in that under many traffic conditions the car may be hit from behind or unable to move to a safe shoulder out of the traffic flow. The failure date was Dec. 18, 2013.

My wife and I own a 2010 Mercury Milan. One day last week, as my wife was leaving work, the car suddenly lost power, sputtered and was not able go faster than 10 mph. The car went into the "limp home" mode. We subsequently took the car to the Ford dealership where the problem was diagnosed as a "networking problem" and was told that the throttle body must be replaced! now, I am told that there is a nationwide shortage of this part and it will be at least two weeks before the part will arrive! the dealer estimates that the repair will cost $750. I respectfully request that your agency issue a recall on these vehicles. I believe that this throttle body defect has produced a life-safety hazard and should be addressed quickly! thank you. The vehicle was a 2007 Nissan Xterra. The "check engine" light on my 07 Xterra went off when leaving my garage. Using my scangauge, I found out my engine was showing error code p0463. When we got home I jumped on the net and discovered that it meant my fuel level sensor was malfunctioning and that, while no real threat to my safety was posed other than possibly running out of gas by surprise, it seems this is a very common problem with Xterras. So common in fact, that previous generation Nissans were actually recalled for a similar issue. Unfortunately, no recall has been placed on the part for the 2nd gen yet, and so Nissan customers are being forced to have the dealer make the repair to the tune of about $600. The vehicle involved is a 2005 Subaru Legacy. Once the temperature has dipped below about 25 degrees, there is a strong smell of gas that comes from the engine area. The last several days have been especially cold, and though I am driving with the windows down out of necessity (it's -5 degrees today) the gasoline smell is overwhelming, and I have suffered from a headache the past 3 days in the morning due to this issue. It is obvious this issue exists beyond just me, as it takes a simple search to turn up dozens, if not hundreds, of similar issues. It is a serious health and safety concern and needs to be addressed. It was Feb. 5, 2014 when this gasoline fuel system issue happened.

The VIN of this vehicle was JTMBK31VX7_. After the check engine, vehicle stability control & 4wd warning lights displayed on my 2007 Toyota Rav4 with 89,400 miles, I went to my local Toyota dealer for a diagnosis of the problem. Upon inspection and testing, their service advisor stated, "the emissions system has malfunctioned since water has leaked into the emission system & its charcoal canister". The source of the water occurred since the fuel filler tube housing no longer was properly attached/secured to the vehicle. This allowed rwater coming down the side of the vehicle to enter through the fuel filler door by the fuel cap into the charcoal canister. To remedy the problem, the fuel filler assembly along with gaskets, some electronic and the charcoal canister required replacement for the emission system to properly function and to be in compliance with epa standards. The total cost of the repair $1,400 which Toyota would not cover since it was not under recall, nor would they consider paying under my extended 6 yr 100,000 mile warranty since that expired July 5, 2013. I find it incredible that Toyota would not pay for these repairs since they involve emissions as well as a safety issues. Based on my review of various blogs covering Rav4's, this is a common problem and Toyota admits no fault. As with all issues with Toyota they deny they have design/safety issues with any of their vehicles - sudden acceleration, steering suspension & braking. It took me repeated service visits to get them to replace the front steering rack under my extended warranty. I feel my fuel filler assembly and charcoal canister repair is a safety issue since gasoline could easily leak out down the tube on gasoline overfill and cause a fire if it reached the exhaust system. 20 yrs ago I had a similar issue with a Honda which was repaired under a recall at no charge. Your assistance is greatly appreciated. Thank you. This problem occurred on 11/03/13.

The car involved was a 2013 Toyota Camry. Three separate unrelated incidents: 1. While driving in freeway traffic and attempting to blend into side lane, there was no power for a brief second and then a surge which made us decide to stay in the current lane. The repair man said he had heard this concern from other 2013 Camry owners, but I needed to learn to drive this as a new vehicle. 2. Dealer put us off when we asked about recall due to a problem with the airbags. When we e-mailed Toyota they referred us back to our local dealer. We felt caught between them. This has finally been dealt with. 3. Starting the Camry which was parked in our garage,(outside temperatures were below zero) there was a rumbling and a pop. I called our dealer to be sure I should drive into town. When I went to their local office, they told me that this had happened to other owners and it was because of the new federal guidelines for fuel efficiency which made parts closer together and the need to use a thinner oil which would settle and cause this bang. Yet, they also said that none of their lot cars had experienced this and they were not in garages. This gasoline fuel system problem happened on Sep. 26, 2013.

The vehicle having this issue was a 2010 Volkswagen Tiguan. Vehicle was in heavy traffic moving approx. 5mph and stalled. Was able to stop and attempt to restart a couple of times and engine would attempt to start, but would quickly shut off as if engine was not receiving any fuel. Pushed vehicle to nearby parking lot and same thing, vehicle would crank make some sputtering sounds and shut off. Epc and engine lights on. Pressing accelerator did not help. This had occurred 3-4 times several months earlier usually when backing out of a parking lot after starting the car. Reported to dealer at that time and they said a code was seen , but they could not replicate the problem and car was fine. Those times the car was able to be restarted, this time not. Had towed to dealer and waiting for them to check again. Have strong safety concerns given stalling while in traffic. It was Wednesday, December 25, 2013 when this gasoline fuel system issue happened.

The vehicle having this issue was a 2010 Audi Q7. As driving onto the highway, when accelerating to get to highway speed vehicle lost power went into limp mode and was not able to accelerate. Was almost rearended by tractor trailer becouse of this ( had to pull onto the shoulder to get out of the way). Also the glow plug indicator light started flashing and check engine light came one. Took the car to the dealer ( Audi of fairfield CT) they foud that there was a problem with the hpfp metal shavings in the fuel system and they have to replace the entire fuel system. They also said that it might be from puting gasoline instead of diesel fuel, but I am sure I have always used diesel as I kept all receipts from gasstations. They will replace the entire fuel system at no cost to me, under the waranty, but I think it is a problem that needs to be addresed! thank you. This problem occurred on Saturday, Oct. 8, 2011.

The vehicle was a 2005 BMW X5. On 1/6/14 I went outside and started up vehicle and let it warm up for a bit and then I drove about 2miles and car was acting funny as I drove it. It didn't want to go so I gave it some gas and rpm's revved up but odometer was moving up and down all crazy. I left vehicle cranked as I went into store and drove it back home. Didn't want to turn it off in case it didn't start back up. On 1/8/14 I went out and cranked car to warm up for a minute and then put car into drive and heard a loud pop. I then put car back into park. Car acted as if it didn't want to stay started so I gave it some gas and then a bunch of smoke came out from exhaust pipes. Turned car off and let all smoke clear and tried to restart car but it wouldn't turn over. Had car towed to import specialty and 2 days later they informed me this is a common issue with make & model that the diaphragm bust and the tcc valve breaks and throws oil everywhere. Thank goodness I bought a extended warranty that covers power train but not this issue $1,725. 00 on the low side to just clean oil out and then we will be able to look further into car to see if engine is salvageable or not. I am in a rental car paying for that, repairs to start are just $1. 725. 00 plus. . . . Car payment. We don't know if warranty will cover this after they find out what happened per mgr at import specialty. I have called BMW nashville for goodwill assistance because of year of car per [xxx] they can't help. This is a know issue with this car and BMW needs to reimburse consumers who have had to shell out monies to fix this issue and other repairs because of this issue. While driving in metro detroit last night my 2012 BMW 528i xdrive suddenly flashed a "fuel system malfunction" message, lurched and came to a dead stop just past the intersection of novi road and 10 mile. I was two miles from the expressway and my wife and children were with me in the car. Had I made it to I-96 - just two miles up the road - and this happened, we very likely would have been involved in a major accident. Police were called because I was in the middle of the street. The car was electronically locked. I could not put the car in neutral to move it out of the roadway. BMW service finally managed to get the car towed 8 hours later because few tow trucks lacked the equipment needed to move the car without damage. There is no manual override to allow you to put the car in neutral, it can only be accessed by a service tech underneath the car. My service advisor was well aware of the problem. This is a major hazard and huge design flaw. There is no mechanical linkage to either the start/stop button or the shifter. It's all electronically controlled. I shudder to think what would have happened had the car stalled on the interstate. Now I'm stuck with a car I don't feel safe driving. This issue happened on Jan. 12, 2014.

The car involved is a 2005 Cadillac Cts. There was crash involved with this Cadillac Cts. The VIN of the problem Cts is 1G6DM56T85_. 4/12/2010 - I was slowing down preparing to turn into my development when another driver ran a stop sign. The other driver was going approximately 20 mph, she stated that she did not see my car, but saw the oncoming cars and the cars behind me so she didn't prepare to stop at the stop sign. She was trying to beat the oncoming vehicles and the traffic behind me aggressively accelerating and impact was my driver's side front door. We both had our seat belts on, her air bags deployed, mine did not. Her car was totaled. The impact was just like a wrecking ball coming out of nowhere. The impact was so that my struts had to be replaced. I had sustained traumatic brain injury (tbi) and I'm still recovering, that is why it's taken this long to submit a complaint. My car was towed to the Cadillac body shop for the body work and tutwiler was to take care of the mechanical issues. When I picked up my car at tutwiler Cadillac they would not provide me any of the paperwork for the repairs or anything in writing as to why the air bags did not deploy, I was told that the itemized receipt would go to her insurance company since they were paying for the work to be done. The chiropractor bill was in excess of 7,000. 00 and my medical (still recovering) but has exceeded well over 40,000. 00. The electrical issues, bad radio, carpet, bell housing leak, exhaust system, gas gauge should have all been repaired under warranty when I took the car in on 1/5/2009 while the car was still under warranty. I was not aware of the air bag issue not deploying unfortunately until the accident in April of 2010. This issue happened on Monday, April 12, 2010.

The car was a 2000 Jaguar Xk8. The VIN of this Xk8 is SAJJA42B3Y_. We can smell gasoline in the passenger area of the car. It happens whether the windows are up or down, whether the air conditioning is on or off, whether the convertible top is up or down. Usually happens in hot weather, but then again we have only owned and driven the car during the summer. The manufacturer feels that the problem is a combination of high altitude in the denver area, high ambient temperatures, and the fuel formulation in the denver area. They say it only happens in their 4. 0 liter supercharged engines. The problem is intermittent. Jaguar is in the process of buying our car back as they have not been able to correct the defect. It is happening to other customers as well. I feel that this is a safety defect and that the fuel fumes can lead to a fire in an accident or if the car is near an ignition source. These models should be recalled and a full refund given to the owners. Thanks. It was Jul. 15, 2000 when this gasoline fuel system issue happened.
