Underbody Shield Problems of Chevrolet S10

Tl the contact owns a 1997 Chevrolet S10. The contact stated that the vehicle experienced a flat tire. The contact was unable to release the spare tire from underneath the vehicle. The contact indicated that the spare tire hoist assembly retainer had malfunctioned. The cause of the failure was not determined. The local dealer was not notified. The manufacturer was notified, but no solution was offered. The failure mileage was 130,000.

The contact owns a 2000 Chevrolet S10. Upon inspecting the vehicle, it was noticed that the front frame was cracked and deteriorated to the point that it may fracture. The contact stated that cracks developed on the frame and the motor mount was not welded to the frame properly. The cracking progressed to the point that the frame was also deteriorating on the front driver and passenger sides. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer who diagnosed that the frame should have been welded all the way around the vehicle and it was only welded at the top. The dealer diagnosed that the front framing needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was not available.

I have a 2002 Chevrolet S10 zr2. It has had many problems in the front end, it was eventually discovered to have numerous cracks and broken welds, mostly on the right side. At this point gm has offered a 70/30 split on repairs, which we reluctantly agreed to because we needed the vehicle repaired. Now that the frame has been haphazardly repaired by a different dealer, because the dealer that we purchased it from refused to look at it, we feel that it is still a safety hazard and we are trying to get it repaired correctly. We want proper repairs for our vehicle, but ,to also alert others that there may be problems with the zr2 frames. The original frame is still in the possession of turnpike Chevrolet in nitro, wv.

I had just noticed through my front wheel well that there was a crack in my frame. I took it to a mechanic and they had never seen anything like that before. He had noticed that it is cracked on both sides and my rearend is also affected by the cracks in the frame. The frame is not rusted and I have never been in an accident or have taken it off road. It has 127,000 miles on the truck and it is a 1999 so it is only 6 years old. There is no plausable explanation for this I would like an investigation done so this doesnt happen to anyone else. I will be taking it to the dealer I bought it from also to see what can be done.
