On 2/23/11 I purchased a 2011 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and drove 40 miles home when I activated onstar 2/24/11 I was informed the vehicle had a dangerous rear axle condition and not to drive the vehicle. Why is national highway alllowing general motors to sell a vehicle having this defect to a customer without repairing the vehicle before the sale or delivery. If anyone is hurt the liability will go to general motors but also to national highway for allowing this to happen . I will make a effort to notify the media to inform them of this dangerous practice gm recall #10426 please stop this now before anyone is hurt.

I have a 2004 Silverado 1500 and I had heard about a TSB for a pin that engages the clutch on the automatic transmission for the lsd rear end. Without previous issues or warning my rear end in my silverado went out 2 days ago while I was leaving from a stop at a red light. The car was rendered immobile and I had to have it towed to my local shop in which for everything to be replaced is going to cost ~$2000. This TSB can save me thousands but since there is no official recall, gm will do nothing about it. I know judging from the truck forums that there are numerous owners with this same issue. Please help gm make this right for us loyal gm customers.

I own a 200o chevy silverado. My transfer case is stuck in 4wd all the time which has caused damage to my front diff also. If I continue to drive it the front diff will lock up. My father in law owns the same year truck with the same problem. I have also talked to several others with the same conditon. I work as a automotive technician and almost every transfer case of this gen exhibits the same problem. I fear that if these are not corrected they will lock up and cuase serious injury. The only fix I know of is to replace the diff and transfer case. I drive my truck vey normally. It is not abused and does very little off road driving.

I have a 2005 chevy 1500hd quadrasteer pickup truck. The rear end started making a grinding sound in the rear axle housing at 63000 miles. I had a repair of $2178. 1. I make a living as a mechanic and do not believe this to be a wearable defect after 4 years as I was told it to be the left rear cv joint axle shaft. When I called chevy they would not provide any assistance for the repair. This is unsafe do to it CA cause the axle to lock up and cause an accident. I was lucky and had it repaired before that could happen.

I am filing this complaint for my father. He have a 2005 chevy silverado. My father was driving straight down a street at about 35 mph when the drivers side rear axle and tire came off the vehicle. The result was body damage to the vehicle. Luckily no bodily injury or proper damage occurred other than that done on my father vehicle. As it turns out the retainer button on the end of the axle shaft was broken off allowing the axle to come out of the axle housing. A police report was filed and an insurance claim was made. The vehicle has apprx. 90,000 miles and was purchased from a dealer 1450 miles prior to the accident. (approximately 2 months after the purchase) the vehicle is currently being repaired by the dealer desantis chevy in brockton MA. They will not cover the cost of the damage. I am thinking that a complaint has been filed like this before. Reference. . Read more...
Clunking sounds from transmission/drivetrain. Generally louder when shifting into 2nd gear. Have mentioned to dealer a couple of times and was told it is normal. This is a widely known issue on the web.
