1 Gasoline Engine problem of the 2001 Chevrolet Suburban

Failure Date: 09/13/2006

Vehicle would die randomly while operating causing loss of steering and braking. Usually occurred at low speeds (like in traffic) and re-starting required lengthy cranking. This is the second time this problem has come up while I've owned the vehicle with the same correction, replacing the crank position sensor. I have the old part.

3 Gasoline Engine problem of the 2004 Chevrolet Suburban

Failure Date: 08/07/2005

There is a "lack of power" with my 2004 Chevrolet Suburban 1500. My previous 1999 chevy tahoe towed my boat and trailer easily my new Suburban with 40 more horsepower has a very difficult time towing the trailer. It is very difficult to maintain highway speeds without the transmission constantly shifting in and out of lower gears. It doesn't seem to matter if I am in tow mode or not. With 40 more hp. Than the other vehicle and the same amount of torque this should be easy for this truck. More importantly there is a great lack of acceleration when you depress the pedal. I guess you would call it a big lag. I am told this is called "torque management. " well torque management almost got my family killed the other day! when pulling into traffic a car came over the hill rather quickly I stepped on the gas . . . . . And nothing happened it was like I was dragging an anchor. The dealer says that is the way they are designed and computer controlled and there is nothing that can be done about it.

4 Gasoline Engine problem of the 2003 Chevrolet Suburban

Failure Date: 05/15/2005

At start-up, usually when engine has been run/warmed, a "clicking" (as if the oil level was low/lifters) sound is heard for 30-plus seconds. My concern is the long-range (I. E. , out of warranty) effects this condition will have on the life of the engine. The concern has been expressed to service reps at ancira Chevrolet, who, at 3-4 occasions, replied that it is "normal. ".

5 Gasoline Engine problem of the 2002 Chevrolet Suburban

Failure Date: 11/08/2004

(1) the engine stopped while on interstate in construction zone on slight hill, it would not restart. (2) the construction zone on interstate 10 was approximately 3 mile long with very narrow lanes and concrete construction barriers on each side & no shoulders. Bumper to bumper traffic and no way to clear the lane or get tow vehicle. (3) a good samaritan towed our vehicle about 2 miles to first point clear traffic. Chevy dealer confirmed fuel pump in tank had failed & replaced pump. This was second pump failure. The pump previously failed and was replaced on 30 Aug 03. Previous failure dealer said keep fuel above 25% & engine would run. The tank was at 44% when engine quit. Fuel tank was topped off before pump tested, engine would run but no pump pressure. Someone will be killed if more failures occur in heavy traffic areas. The emergency good samaritan tow out of the construction area prevented a serious accident as it was getting dark.
