Brake Pedal And Linkage Problems of Ford F-250

The contact owns a 2001 Ford F-250. While driving at an unknown speed, the vehicle crashed into a pedestrian bridge. The driver was fatally injured. 2008 f250: had this truck since 9-28-08. Several occasions when applying brake my foot also touches accelerator pedal causing engine to race. Engine is very quite and do not immediately realize that condition. This is bad enough with my manual transmission. It would far worse with an automatic transmission.

Prior to the accident we had the telescoping brake and gas pedal replaced for a defect. (it didn't work) on September 9th 2005 at approx 12:00pm our Ford excursion suddenly accelerated, which resulted in loss of control of the vehicle at speeds in excess of 80 mph. Accident investigator and yuma police have pictures and reports of the acceleration pedal still mashed into the SUV's floor-board still open at full throttle with engine off. The accident report states mechanical defect of acceleration pedal. The tires and under chassis caught were on fire when vehicle came to a crash stop or it could have been a fire prior the investigator wasn't sure. When the vehicle was put in park the tires were still spinning out as if the SUV was in a drive gear. Although I suffered minor injured pulled neck and back muscles and broken elbow (radial neck fracture). I could have been killed or seriously injured or killed another human due to this defect. Completely terrified to ever drive again.

I work for security at a nuclear plant. We have two 2004 Ford, f250 pickups. I and several other people have had a problem with the brake pedal and accelerator pedal. We wear military style boots, if you move your foot from the accelerator to the brake and still have your foot partially over the accelerator your shoe will come in contact with the accelerator pedal before the brake pedal is depressed far enough to apply the brake. Myself and several other people have had a near miss because of the vehicle lunging forward before the brake engages.

The brake pedal and the gas pedal are too close, and gas pedal is 1/2 inch lower. When stepping on the brake pedal consumer can hit the gas pedal at the same time. Dealer states no modification because of design specifications. This problem would become worse in the winter when the consumer wears boots.

When pressing on brake pedal consumer foot hit gas pedal because the two are so close together. When this happens vehicle will not stop it surges forward. Consumer feels this is dangerous.

Brake pedal and gas pedal are too close together. Consumer is applying brake pedal and will apply gas pedal at same time.

Brake pedal linkage pin was missing causing complete brake failure. Dealer service said they do not report brake failures until they see several cases!.

The tires are dry rotting with32000miles the dome light stays on had to pull the bulb. The door lock nob on inside of door broke, the brake pad rubber on the pedal I had to replace the new one was worn out the brake pads on the front started squeaking at about 22000 miles the motor uses about one half quart of oil at each oil change and I take it to the dealer( dot number: ? tire size: lt235/85r1 ).
