Ford F-250 owners have reported 4 problems related to power assist brake hoses, lines/piping, and fittings (under the service brakes category). The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Brake line failure! the portion of the brake line between the frame rail and the fuel tank is subject to extreme rusting as debris is not easily cleared from this area. (sand, mud, water, ect. . . ) this area becomes weak, and the rusting caused a rupture when applying my brakes at a stop sign in a shopping center parking lot. The front brakes/rear brakes do not have separate fluid reservoirs. This caused complete braking failure. I had to use the parking brake to stop the vehicle in a parking spot!
thank god this incident happened in a parking lot rather than driving 5 boy scouts at 55 mph on a highway.

My wife was driving our vehicle, she was stopping at intersection (4 way) and when she applied the brake pedal to stop at this intersection, the brake pedal went to the floor causing to her to run the stop sign almost causing an accident. I found the defect, the brake line on driver's side was completely rusted through brake line.
Upon routine inspection I noticed that a line was wearing through due to rubbing on the shock tower inside the front driver side wheel well, and was actually wore past the nylon strength cords. Upon closer inspection this was found to be the power steering line which is used for the hydraboost system, which uses power steering fluid to boost the brakes. Had this line continued to wear until leakage or rupture I would have likely lost both ability to brake and steer the vehicle. Unfortunately due to the type of connections used on this line, the new lins contacts the exact same area and will likely begin to wear through again.

When taking off from either a stop sign or light vehicle failed to accelerate forward properly. This caused the vehicle to stall at an inopportune time. Its was an ongoing problem. Consumer took vehicle to dealership 6 times in 1 1/2 years, and was informed by dealer that problem was low rpm power, which was poor torque, and an improper gear ratio in transmission. The consumers foot contacts the accelerator pedal hanger when attemptingto depress the pedal to the floor. The engine runs rough at idle 750 rpm causing the vehicle to vivrate. At speeds between 750 and 1000 rpm the engine will not maintain a constant speed. Speed fluctuates up and down rapidly. The engine produces very little power at low rpm's below 1500. . Read more...
