6 Car Stall problem of the 2013 Ford Mustang

Failure Date: 09/03/2018

After having my car for 5. 5 years, it started to shift gears on its own (it's an automatic) and brake/stall when I'm going low speeds. Especially when I'm at a stop light or stop sign, it will not allow me to accelerate (been stuck in middle of intersections about 5 times) even with my foot on the accelerator. The engine does not shut off. . . So I will turn my car off and back on to get going again. One time I was on the free way with a full tank of gas going 65 mph and my dash board went completely red and speedometer went to zero. . . The car did not stop until I manually turned if off on the side of the road. Also, it once did the opposite when I was trying to brake before a red light, the car jolted/accelerated forward while my foot was on the gas. I've replaced the air filters, battery, alternator, and engine's wire harness (all at separate times) and the issue remains.

9 Car Stall problem of the 2007 Ford Mustang

Failure Date: 08/02/2017

Both issues I have had with my car numerous times. The engine light has never come on and through research, I guess it has happened to many others. When in traffic moving slowly, warm temperature, my car stalls for no apparent reason. Today, it did while turning left at a corner. I almost got hit. I have to immediately shift to neutral and restart the car. It happens during rush hour so I end up making other drivers angry which is dangerous. The other ongoing issue I have is the car accelerating by itself. This has been happening for years and has got increasingly worse. I now have other witness' people who have driven the car and had it happen. At midas where I get my car repaired, they drove it and couldn't figure out the issue but definitely scared him. The mechanic thought it is computer related. They tried to find a fix online but couldn't. Someone hit my car and it was at a shop being repaired for 2 weeks. This is a very large operation. When I went to pick it up the mechanic there said that everyone, after driving my car once, refused to drive it again. It scared them to death. She explained how it kept accelerating and they didn't even have their foot on the gas, there were no car mats, no explanation. They will have their foot on the brake and it will start reving. When I'm stopped at lights it does. When I start the car, still in park, it starts. They stated they don't ever want to drive and/or park it again. They said it was very dangerous. I know Ford denies the issue but this is all over the internet. I don't know what to do. I am aware of the issue so I drive it like it's a stick shift in traffic and always have my foot ready for it to accelerate. I can't afford to buy a new call and would not feel comfortable selling it to someone. I do not want to put someone's life at risk. I know someone has to die for something to happen but this is a major problem.

11 Car Stall problem of the 2006 Ford Mustang

Failure Date: 12/05/2016

The electronic throttle body and electronic throttle sensor were sending my car into "limp mode", and very nearly caused two accidents before I could have the issue diagnosed and repaired. The first instance of "limp mode" came while I was driving home on the freeway in commute traffic. It was warm, traffic was erratic stop-and-go, and I had the ac on. After a period of coasting at idle, traffic opened up; but when I tried to accelerate the car staggered and nearly stalled. I thought it was due to heat and the ac. The car then jerked forward before running smoothly again. The second time, I was on my way to work, again in freeway commute traffic. Traffic was at a stop for several minutes, and then I heard a news report that there were accidents ahead. I moved over to the 4th lane of 5, in preparation for exiting at the next off ramp. When I tried to pull out and speed up into that lane, the car again staggered and then stalled; I managed to re-start it and get moving again as a truck came racing towards me, with the driver hitting his brakes and horn. I barely avoided a crash.

13 Car Stall problem of the 2016 Ford Mustang

Failure Date: 07/05/2016

I just purchased my brand new 2016 Mustang less than 6 months ago and have already been having issues with it. I was stationary waiting at the stop light and shifted into 1st gear 3 times and my car wouldn't budge. I turned off the engine and restarted it to move it out of the street. The engine light came on briefly then shut off. A week later I was driving approximately 60 miles per hour on the freeway and my vehicle suddenly stalled with no warning. I do not remember the engine light being on this time. I just took my car into the dealer and they said it was a bad throttle body.

20 Car Stall problem of the 2015 Ford Mustang

Failure Date: 12/19/2014

First occurrence (mid December 2014): I was coming up to a red light and the turn was slightly uphill. I approach the light and drop the car into neutral (clutch was fully engaged continuously at this point) and while braking, as I approached the red light to make a right turn my car's rpms just drop completely to 0. It didn't even try to catch idle. This was about 1. 5 months ago. I figured that it might be something with the tune I'm running so I called up bama and had them send me a fresh tune after explaining what had happened. Also, not sure if this helps or is relevant information but I had been driving on the highway for about 40 min before that and did a pull on the highway 2 min before the car died. Second occurrence (2/25/2015): today while driving to work in the morning I was switching lanes and as I merged into the lane I engage the clutch fully and was braking to adjust to the speed of the vehicle in front of me and was preparing to downshift into gear, but before I could downshift the rpms keep dropping and go past normal idle and drop to 0 again without even trying to catch idle again. So I quickly start it back up again and it drove fine after that. This can become a safety issue if not taken seriously. More and more Mustang owners are experiencing this problem and I had to switch dealerships because the dealership where I bought the car from refuses to work on my car since it is lowered. Ford racing offers lowering springs for the vehicle which is a Ford part. If someone was to have these springs installed and the car was lowered with Ford parts does that mean the dealership will refuse to work on it if it doesn't fit on their lifts then as well? I have reported other issues as well which Ford has claimed to be normal just because it is occurring on other vehicles as well. The csm at Ford motor company has been a huge help so thank you for that.

23 Car Stall problem of the 2005 Ford Mustang

Failure Date: 08/15/2014

The vehicle began stalling at low speeds, in traffic, at red lights/stop signs and while turning. Several very close calls to date. You must restart engine during a turn often with other motorists bearing down on you. There are many complaints on this site and when you do a search on the internet. The dealership is also aware of it because they tell you right away that you will need a $500. 00 part to fix it and that does not include labor. I have also been told by a few mechanics that this used to be solved by replacing the idle air control switch, about a $40. 00 part. That part is not offered with this year and model but it comes on the $500. 00 part.

24 Car Stall problem of the 2014 Ford Mustang

Failure Date: 08/01/2014

Takata recall - this 2014 Mustang has approximately 22700 miles and has been subject to the takata airbag recall for approximately two years. Though Ford has notified me that airbags are available, I cannot get a dealer (I've been to two) to install the airbag. Additionally, the car has an electrical fault in the engine management system that has been noted since the car had 5000 miles on it. Despite more than five trips to the dealer and more than 28 days in the shop, the car is still unrepaired. The Ford engineer's latest speculation as to the cause is a software problem, which he acknowledged could affect all systems, including brakes, throttle control, lighting, and the airbags to name a few. Bbb's autoline arbitrator agreed that the car is unsafe to drive and ordered Ford to repurchase the vehicle. However, Ford did not do so within the allotted time due to frivolous document requests that delayed the process, and their refusal to inspect the car on site or pick the car up with a wrecker at a reasonable time. They insisted that I drive the car, which I now refuse to do so. There are other documents available, these are the primary documents related to the claim.

25 Car Stall problem of the 2011 Ford Mustang

Failure Date: 07/09/2014

Defective electronic throttle body (etb) as per dealership diagnosis. Ford customer service is excluding Mustangs from the customer satisfaction program 13n03 - which clearly states there is a problem with etbs during this time. Looking over the internet, it is clear that some Mustangs where built with the same type of etb as the models covered under the program (fusion, escape, Mercury mariner and Mercury milan). The program extends the warranty on the throttle body to a total of 10 years or 150,000 miles from the warranty start date, which ever occurs first. This car is extremely dangerous to drive as it basically stalls and cannot be restarted without turning the ignition completely off - which in turn turns off power asset to steering and brakes. Car may take up to 3 or 4 tries to start normally. This stalling condition can occur up to 5 times in an 8 mile trip.

I then was able to restart the car, but each time I stopped at a light, the car would stall out again. I was able to get to a nearby Ford dealer.
