I have had my Jeep in the Dodge Jeep dealership in tacoma wa. Three times for the transmission issues and they have yet to fix the problem. The first time was at 22138 miles check engine light came on they found codes po520 uo121 &u0001they verified that the oil pressure sensor failed they found that they needed the tcm. Also did the body control module they had the Jeep for 6 days all covered under warranty and recalls. Then again on 3/31/2014 back to the dealer with same thing check engine light and service transmission they did a flash for pcm amd tcm to address shifting issues Jeep was in the shop for four days millage was at 33658 . @ second time in shop for engine light and transmission issues and warning lights. At 35512 once again same scenario check engine light comes on & service transmission this time they have the jepp in the shop for 13 days they replaced valve body and performed TSB 21-012-16. 37 Automatic Transmission Control Module problem

Failure Date: 05/04/2017

9 speed transmission issues. Received recall s 55 dealer only performed tcm update even though I stated check engine light came on. Vehicle went into 3rd gear at 60 mph and we almost got rear-ended on freeway. Called Chrysler customer service and they will do nothing. Was driving on I 75 at posted limit of 75 mph when vehicle check engine light came on and speedo went blank and message came up " service transmission" this has happened 4 times and will never set a code. Check engine light will go out before I can get to dealer. I will not drive vehicle. . . . I fear for my life.

38 Automatic Transmission Control Module problem

Failure Date: 01/20/2017

Something strange started happening, it shifted to neutral while I was trying to stop at a red light, almost went through. Brakes locked later had it towed to the dealer they kept a few days, said nothing was wrong. From day one I was told it was a 9 speed shift thing and I felt every single one. They told me that was normal. So me unable to do anything about the situation, but trust the dealer, kept driving this car, that I felt unsafe in every second of every day. Each day I prayed that it did not happen again. Till this day, it still shifts from each gear with a jerk, I notice the persons heads in my car jerk, every time I go from a stop to try to accelerate. It has had such a strong kick when it shifts gears that I felt like I was getting hit in the rear by another vehicle. This continued for a while and then the car began to start oddly, and as I shifted from park to reverse or park to drive the car literally felt as if the engine, transmission, what have you was going to fall out of the bottom of the car. Each time I shifted to park to reverse it would jolt. I then tried to go in reverse and the car was sounding and feeling so scary that I had it towed to the dealer yet again. I at this time, was over my miles and due to me leasing the warranty was done, so the dealer would not look at it free, luckily there was a recall on sensor wire harness, powertrain control module and the transmission control module, so they told me they would fix the recall only. The recall was done January 17, 2017. They kept my car for 6 days. After they fixed the recall, the car worked better, the gear shifts have never changed. Today is March 28, 2017 and the car began acting the same way prior to the recalls about 2 weeks ago, again I just pray that it will just start. Today it almost did not start and the shift to reverse dreadful.

39 Automatic Transmission Control Module problem

Failure Date: 10/19/2016

Same or similiar problem with 2014 Jeep Cherokee transmission: after car was bought new had a couple of situations where Jeep's dashboard display would all of a sudden while driving error(service transmission, must put car in park and restart)vehicile would be in limp mode had to coast to side of road and restart car, would bang while going into and out of gears. . . Dealer changed the tcm(transmission control module 5/16) but gave me no paperwork stating such, just verbal. . Same error again on 6/11/16, again on 7/29/16 and again on 10/19/16. . . Error on display, car goes in limp mode, have to coast and restart. . . Although, after a few engine shut off and restart's service error disappears. . . Seems to happen mostly at speeds less than 55mph. . Will have to continue to pursue with dealer. . . . .

40 Automatic Transmission Control Module problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2016

Ongoing issues with 9 speed transmission since the vehicle was delivered new. 8 service dates in dealer service shop varying from 1-30 days duration totaling 64 days. Transmission has been replaced completely twice, transmission control module replaced twice, multiples software updates under warranty. Date of occurrence listed in this form is the last date of service. Following are symptoms: transmission does not downshift when slowing around curves and lugs in too high of a gear when accelerating. ¿transmission intermittently slips when slowly accelerating on moderate to steep slopes from a stop - then abruptly lunges into gear. ¿when at speed, the transmission exhibits long delays when acceleration is attempted. ¿when shifting into reverse, transmission intermittently does not initially engage ¿ then abruptly engages. ¿transmission unexpectedly disengages or shifts into neutral.

41 Automatic Transmission Control Module problem

Failure Date: 07/05/2016

While driving on the highway at 65 to 70 mph, my car would go in to safe mode the massage said. "service transmission" "service park brake" the engine light and traction lights came on to. I had to coast over to the brake down lane. I would turn the car off wait for 2to 3 min's then restart the car. All massages cleared but the check engine light stayed on. The next day the engine light cleared I took it to the dealer. He said, no lights no codes no problem. This continued to happen about 10 times over 5 months. Every time the car went in for a recall I would tell them. The same answer, no lights no codes no problem. Finale I had a problem with electrical. After 3 days they found a pinched wire in the main harness going through the fire wall. This service department told me the next time the car failed in safe mode ( do not shut it off ), have it towed with the car running , this way they could check the codes in the fail mode. After 5 more times, it happened when the dealership was open. They did a software upgrade. A software 6 flash for tcm and a pcm. 3 days later on July 4 it happened 4 times, then 4 times going to work at night on July 4 for July 5. Then on July 5 going to the dealership . I had it towed in safe mode. After about 2 hours they called me. It needs a new transmission. They said there are none in the USA, they are on back order, there is no time frame they can give me to how long it will take. I did get a rent a car, but my wife and I can not go kayaking. No racks on rentals and a smaller car does not do for me. Now I have a payment and no car no time frame for when I get my car back pulse the liability of a rental that just does not work for us.

42 Automatic Transmission Control Module problem

Failure Date: 04/26/2016

I didn¿t know just how quirkily sensitive this vehicle would become to starting off; especially after fca started recalls for transmission software updates. This (r01) was completed on the vehicle, (March 2015 at 17,399 miles). Until I got rid of the vehicle in may 2016 it became a crap-shoot as to how the vehicle would respond to acceleration from either a full or rolling stop. In may 2015 (20,362 miles), I had my first transmission failure after making a turn from a full stop. There were service transmission and parking brake warnings. I stopping, put the vehicle into park and turned off the ignition. I was able to restart and engage the transmission and drive to dealership. Diagnoses found multiple stored codes related to the trans flash recall. In August 2015, (23,861 miles) there was the 2nd incident when the transmission locked into 2nd gear while going down a winding road and remained so until we were on flatter ground. The dealer reprogrammed the transmission control module. 25 days later (Aug 31, 2015 and 24,174 miles) the vehicle was back in the shop when the ¿service shifter and transmission¿ indicators came on. Diagnoses found dtcs p0978 and u0402, whatever that means. I filed a complaint with fca Jeep customer service (case #27729231) on September 2, 2015. They offered no solution or resolution. In may 2016, (34,833 miles) while driving up a winding hill at about 40 mph the vehicle went into neutral and would not engage any gear other than park. I proceeded to put the vehicle in park, turn-off the ignition, restart the vehicle, and engage the transmission which never got out of 3rd gear on the drive to a Jeep dealer. They refer to this as ¿limp¿ mode, which tells me a lot about what fca knew of their transmission problems. They found and replaced a faulty transmission valve body which facilitates electronic transmission shifting from one gear to another.

43 Automatic Transmission Control Module problem

Failure Date: 04/07/2016

Purchased the 2014 Jeep Cherokee June 2014. At 7,000 miles it started banging into gear from 2nd to 3rd. Brought it in a few times within that year and they couldn't duplicate the condition but reflased the tcm unit several times. After changing dealerships months later the following year in 2015 I addressed the problem to them. Same thing in which the problem couldn't be duplicated. In February another trip to the dealership and this time they found the defect in the transmission valve body. The repair was made. April 7 2016 back to the dealership with the same similar problem. This time they replaced the transmission. Now the problem is with delayed downshifting while changing lanes mostly. I was almost rear ended with my son driving on his driving permit. That was very close. He even expressed his concern of the vehicle not responding to a downshift. He now is reluctant to drive my Jeep. It has become a hazardous situation while driving. Sometime in September I will address the issue in the delayed downshifting problem.

44 Automatic Transmission Control Module problem

Failure Date: 03/02/2016

Car shuts down , coast to stop. Dash light all flash . Message service transmission . Put in park restart car . This is the third time in 3 weeks it has been back to dealer. The last time they replaced tcm . Last time 3/15/16 26000 miles on vehicle shuts down in 65 mph traffic causes chaos with vehicles behind you . The first time this happened was after a recall to reprogram transmission.

45 Automatic Transmission Control Module problem

Failure Date: 02/12/2016

On three separate dates over the last year while driving on the highway my Cherokee has lost transmission drive power to the wheels although the engine remains running. This has created very dangerous situations involving trucks and other traffic behind me when I have lost power and need to make my way to the breakdown lane. The first two occurrences happened about a year ago and Jeep replaced the transmission control module after much wrangling with them. The third incident happened yesterday and I am trying to get Jeep to promptly address this issue but Jeep service is poor. This is a recurring problem with this transmission that produces an extremely dangerous situation for the driver and those around them.

46 Automatic Transmission Control Module problem

Failure Date: 02/01/2016

The car has had rough shifting between gears 1-2 and 2-3 since I picked it up. I had a recall performed that stated "the transmission control module (tcm) and powertrain control module (pcm) software in your vehicle requires an update that will help prevent potential durability issues with the transmission. " this recall took away the ability for the vehicle to downshift to 2nd gear on its own to reduce wear on a faulty part in the transmission. Now when I need to accelerate after braking into the 2nd gear speed range my car has to take time to decide how it wants to shift and it is entirely unpredictable. Sometimes it throws into 1st and spins the tires and other times I get a dead pedal with a delay before I get any acceleration. This puts me in dangerous situations when I'm trying to merge into traffic and Jeep has refused to offer a real fix to the issue. The response from corporate to my dealership is that it is "operating as designed. " this is a dangerous workaround by a company that refuses to offer a true fix to the problem and I have no where else to turn for help other than the NHTSA.

47 Automatic Transmission Control Module problem

Failure Date: 01/22/2016

Drive about 37689 miles. Inserted key to run, nothing happened, turned it off, turned it back to run, it power up but engine light pop out, transmission failure, tcm internal failure code p1634. Turned it off, waited for half hour, turned it on, power run normal with a lot of noise, engine light still on. Shift it to drive and it goes backward, then shift it to park, cranking noise under the car. Messaged transmission service, park brake service and esc disabled/off. Turned it off again. Waited for few minutes turned it on, engine light still on, shift it drive, push the pedal (gas) doesn't go, about 3 seconds later it drive normally. Every time shift to drive have to wait few sec to go.

48 Automatic Transmission Control Module problem

Failure Date: 12/17/2015

Vehicle run rough, jerking, hesitating and accelerating. Stalls when stopping causing check engine light, transmission service and other warning light to flash. When restarting it violently shifts and slams into gear, reverse first and then in drive. When in reverse or drive it goes into neutral. Requires another restart with same consequences. When attempting to drive there is no acceleration at first then slow acceleration while it is acting like it will stall again feeling real sluggish. All the while lights are flashing on the dash. It has been in for service 8 times the most recent being 7/11/2017. Service has performed replacing tcm and updating it 5 times, replacing vapor canister, fuel tank. Vehicle has been taken into service department with all the the issues happening and was diagnosed as no issues found. Service department has tried to place the blame on me stating that I do not know how to pump gas, as I am overfilling. (this is incorrect) another issue that is happening is that when trying to fuel the vehicle at any gas station, it will only take a little fuel and click off like it is full when in fact it is near empty. Gassing the vehicle can take upwards of 15 minutes to get to the 3/4 mark. This vehicle has been a safety hazard to drive since Dec 2015 when the stalling out as I am trying to cross traffic, scary situation but luckily I wasn't hit. Loses acceleration when driving down the road and on the interstates, which now limits the amount of time and places that I drive this vehicle, as I prefer that myself and my family including grand chilldren live vs. Die. So in essence I have a luxury vehicle that I pay $600/month and I can only drive it around like an old beater car. Would really like to get to the bottom of this. Fiat Chrysler have a serious problem with this car and refuse to acknowledge it, closing my case because service finds no issue.

49 Automatic Transmission Control Module problem

Failure Date: 10/02/2015

Vehicle fails to shift properly and stalls upon acceleration from complete stops, driving on highway and normal roads. Issue started 7 months after purchase at 8,573 miles. Jeep taken to dealer on March 10, 2015, who reprogrammed transmission & power train modules & reprogrammed restraint control module. 5/15 - Jeep was making clunking noise and grinding noises - rear differential was replaced at 14k miles; 5/27 - Jeep still made grinding noise when placed into gear - power transfer unit & skid plate replaced as tech found fluid had leaked into ptu causing internal damage. 7/7 - Jeep still not shifting properly, rpms rev to 5 & 6k before shifting. Slow acceleration has almost caused multiple crashes!! dealer reprogrammed transmission control module. 10/2/15 - lift gate won't open with fob or by hand & won't lock when closed manually - open recall with no remedy avail, I was told not to use it until fixed. Dealer has no eta for the fix and this issue can cause fire!! shifting is still an issue, dealer claimed they were unable to reproduce the issue yet the check in & out mileage remained unchanged at 20,635. The parking sensors go off in drive thru's, yet another issue they can't reproduce. I do not feel safe driving this vehicle which is needed for work!!! I attempted to trade it in but past service issues have depreciated it's value to the point of no return!.

50 Automatic Transmission Control Module problem

Failure Date: 09/15/2015

Model:2014 Jeep Cherokee latitude 2. 4 liters. Months old: 13 first failure: "the transmission kicked back as if in reverse". The failure mileage was 8293. It was in school zone area. The traffic was slow. Stop and go. At one point, when the traffic started moving the driver (my wife) released the brake and slightly pressed the gas pedal with her foot, the vehicle all of sudden accelerated backward. The vehicle behind started honking at her. She was able to hit the brake, just inches before she hit the front end of that vehicle. The check engine light illuminated and a long message appeared, only momentarily on the dash screen which indicated (something about) "brake" and "service transmission". In a panic, my wife could not recall the whole message. Someone at that dealership told me he has seen this problem before on 2. 4 l Jeep Cherokees. After 2 days troubleshooting, Jeep dealer installed "new software in bcm", the latest software version (I was told) and told me the vehicle was now fixed, should be safe to drive. (please note: fca recall ro1: reprogram tcm and pcm had been perform on 04/17/15). Second failure: "same problem as the first failure and transmission stalled while on drive". The failure mileage was 8373. Two days after the first failure was "fixed". While puling into the driveway at very low speed with a 3 years old sleeping baby in the rear car seat. Still in the middle of the street, the vehicle jerked and the driver (it was me) felt like it was trying to move as if in reverse, then the transmission stalled as if in neutral. I pressed the gas pedal a few times but the vehicle failed to move. Same indications flashed on the dash screen as the first occurrence. I had the vehicle towed to the dealership on that Saturday afternoon. In both occurrences, no one was hurt, no accident but it could be much worse.

51 Automatic Transmission Control Module problem

Failure Date: 08/25/2015

Episode one: while driving up hill at about 30 miles and hour car jerked into neutral, instrument cluster flashed engine light warning, transmission light warning, parking break warning, traction control warning and flashed "service transmission" and service parking brake". Operator restarted car three times before transmission would engage. This cleared all warnings except "check engine" light. Car was driven to dealer where without documentation they stated that they flashed the transmission control module and then car was returned to owner. Second episode: on sept 3, 2015 operator was driving about 55 miles per hour when suddenly with a jerk the car shifted into neutral and the car jerked into neutral, instrument cluster flashed engine light warning, transmission light warning, parking break warning, traction control warning and flashed "service transmission" and service parking brake". . Operator was able to pull over to the side where he restarted the car about 4 times before transmission would engage. Then about 10 miles further on the road, coming up to a stop sign the same behavior reoccurred. Car was delivered to dealer on 9-03-2015 and their service report of 9-04-2015 indicates that they flashed tcm, bcm, ipc and r40 recall. Episode three: September 6 2015 operator was driving car up to stop sign car jerked into neutral, instrument cluster flashed engine light warning, transmission light warning, parking break warning, traction control warning and flashed "service transmission" and service parking brake". From that point to the dealer operator noted that the engine rpm maintained at about 3000rpm instead of fluctuating normally as with normal driving.

52 Automatic Transmission Control Module problem

Failure Date: 07/02/2015

I was driving through town on 7/2/15 and all of a sudden the dashboard lit up and the car went into neutral, I was able to drift into a safe area. I turned the car off and waited 2 minutes, started the car, everything seemed ok except the check engine light was on. When I pulled away the trans would not go over 45 mph. I called dealer and they said to bring it in immediately. 5 days later they charged me $100 for a "flash" download to trans. I picked the car up and within 48 hours the same thing happened again (8 times in 1 day), they told me to bring it in, I did (asked for a loaner vehicle, they said they would have to charge me), they told me there were no recorded faults in the computer, a mechanic drove it home 2 days to get it to fail. 6 days later I picked it up after they installed a transmission control module at no charge. 24 hours later it happened again, I was able to drift into a safe area. I turned the car off and waited 2 minutes, started the car, everything seemed ok except the check engine light was on, as of yesterday the car is back in their shop and they told me they will call the factory again to see what they can do????? I'm a traveling salesman and I'm very concerned that this issue will cause an accident (if I can't drift into a safe area to "reset" the car) and I have developed no faith in Jeep's ability to fix this problem!.

54 Automatic Transmission Control Module problem

Failure Date: 06/03/2015

I bought my 2014 Jeep Cherokee brand new off of the lot on 4/25/2015. With less than 200 miles on it I noticed that the transmission would hesitate from a stop, and seem almost like the transmission would have a "lag" when I accelerated going up a slight incline and be jerky when it shifted at times. It has been in the Jeep dealership 2 times for this and is scheduled to go again on 8/31/2015. This time it is lunging after backing out of garage and going into drive. It is scary when it finally grabs the gear it actually squeals the back tires. The 1st time on 6/3/15 the dealership performed a software update for pcm, & tcm. 2nd time 6/23/15 the dealer did a tcm software update 181905bk . 3 02-19-05-95 . 4. This time I rode around with the mechanic to 1/2 hr after he did the update. Most of the time these issues happen at lower speeds, but now I have noticed it happening on the freeway too. I do not feel safe driving this car anymore.

55 Automatic Transmission Control Module problem

Failure Date: 04/01/2015

Tl- the contact owns a 2014 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated that while turning the ignition key to start the engine the vehicle suddenly surged forward. The contact also indicated that when going from stop to start and while ascending up a hill the vehicle was hesitated to accelerate. 56 Automatic Transmission Control Module problem

Failure Date: 03/23/2015

9 speed transmission started having hard up and down shifts at around 10k miles (March 2015). This was near time the fca issued a service bulletin on tcm and pcm for known software control problems with transmission. Sw updates were performed, yet transmission continued to shift erratically. Problem then developed into lurching during stops and hesitation when attempting to move. The hesitation presents serious concern as the ability to enter traffic or merge becomes difficult and dangerous if the transmission refuses to engage. Took back to dealership in June. Multiple attempts with sw updates. Fca ultimately decided to replace entire transmission. It had 13. 8k miles on it. A month later it is shifting hard and lugging again. Back at dealership. Not clear what fca with do/offer now, as they don't seem to know what is wrong.

57 Automatic Transmission Control Module problem

Failure Date: 03/21/2015

Vehicle transmission first failed in driveway at start up at 13773 miles at 10 months. Transmission "service transmission" error appeared with blinking "p" and would not engage. Towed to dealer. Error code reset overnight and dealer could not read the code. Dealer performed a software update to the transmission control module. Transmission was not shifting smoothly on drive home. Second transmission failure occurred on next morning after pickup on 3/25 and 11 miles. Transmission "service transmission" error appeared again with blinking "p". Transmission could engage drive gear with a severe lurch. Service tech was able to read a failure code. Chrysler service tech found problem with plug connector on transmission control module and did another software update to transmission control module as first update was not done initially per the correct procedure. Transmission was able to shift smoothly upon repair. Third transmission failure occurred on 5/4 with 18543 miles while vehicle was on the highway at highway speed of 45 mph approaching intersection for left turn. Vehicle transmission "service transmission" error code appeared and transmission shifted into neutral with blinking "d" and lost power. Unable to drive thru intersection. Had to coast to stop. Transmission lurched into park. Turned vehicle off and back on. Transmission was able to lurch into drive and drove across intersection to park in safe area. Transmission was able to shift into and out of gear but was very jerky with mechanical clunk. This failure is of serious safety concern due to motion was unable to continue with vehicle in congested intersection. Vehicle is currently undergoing evaluation to determine course of action by Chrysler. Case number assigned.

58 Automatic Transmission Control Module problem

Failure Date: 03/17/2015

70 mph on intersate hwy, suddenly emergency brake comes on. Car immediately brakes to 35 mph before car can be moved to emergency lane. Mil light is on, emergency brake light is on, transmission gear light is flashing, screen command says "park the car, service transmission and parking brake". Emergency brake light on console is off. Ignition turned on and off 6-8 times, try to drive, car won't move. Cycling ignition and transmission shifter car suddenly starts working normally except for mil light. Scan revels no codes. Car runs fine for two weeks and again at 70 mph on interstate the emergency brake comes almost stopping the car in slow lane. Repeated the procedure referenced above for about 5 minutes until the car started running normally. Mil was on for 50 miles but no codes stored or freeze frame. This occurred 5 days after having recall r05 performed, rrt 14-040, and pcm update.

59 Automatic Transmission Control Module problem

Failure Date: 03/11/2015

My vehicle has been giving lots of trouble since I purchased it. It decides to shutdown by itself when it wants to. It has put me in several scary situations. Uselly I am on the hwy in the left lane and it decides to shut down. Giving me only about 45 seconds to get over. The emergency brake warning lights along with traction, battery, transmission, engine the car doesn't know what to do. It has been back to the dealer for 3 computer updates. In addition. . . . . The second to the last time they put in a brake switch. Now they have my car. Putting in some kind of tcm box. The car also hesitates. Blinker goes on by itself decides to accelerate on its own etc. I do not believe my car will be fixed. It has been happening since early December I have a lemon. It is a very dangerous car. I have made a total of 5 payments on this car.

60 Automatic Transmission Control Module problem

Failure Date: 02/20/2015

No real problems with our Jeep until we took it in for an oil change and they provided the "reprogram pcm tcm update campaign. " after that update the Jeep would clunk, stall, and not accelerate through turns. Two weeks ago they "got a new update" that was to fix the previous update. Now we are going back again this week. Though, when I go to the Jeep recall site and enter my VIN there is no record of this new update.

63 Automatic Transmission Control Module problem

Failure Date: 12/22/2014

In December 2014, the 2014 Jeep Cherokee shut off twice in one evening due to transmission related issues: 1) the first occurrence, the Jeep was at a red light, when the light changed & the gas pedal was pressed the car lurched and made a loud thump sound and the malfunction indicator light (mil) was illuminated and an error message related to the transmission came on. The car would not accelerate & I was forced to coast into dark parking lot alone. The manual said the vehicle should be serviced if the light stays on through several driving cycles and that the vehicle most likely did not require towing. 2) after following the manual, I turned the car back on and attempted to drive to a safe location until the car could be taken in for service (it was now around 11:00pm). The car drove normally for about 5 minutes until I got on the highway (speed limit 55 mph) & the transmission began to pull & in the middle of the highway thumped and the engine shut off forcing me to rapidly pull over into a dangerous exit ramp at around midnight in the middle of an icy winter. The car would not turn back on & I had to have the car towed. The dealership kept the car for about a week & said the issue was an internal failure of the transmission control module (which they replaced & updated the software). In may 2015, I had been having several issues with the car including another check engine light so I brought it in again for service (this is now the 4th time I had been to the dealership for a variety of issues). The transmission was pulling, jerking, & overall having issues shifting so I requested they service the transmission again. The dealership had to preform a transmission re-learn to improve the shifting. After a couple of days, the transmission was jerking again & I am going to be taking the car back in again for service (now the 5th visit to the dealership).

64 Automatic Transmission Control Module problem

On December 7th, the car (2014 Jeep Cherokee with 12,600 miles) lost power unexpectedly while I approached a stoplight, and had to be coasted to the side of the road. We waited approximately 10 minutes, and it restarted. No warning or check engine lights came on. Over the next several days, we had approximately 3 instances where the car either wouldn't start, or would lose power. Still no warning lights came on indicating an issue. As we believed this to be a potential safety issue, we took it to the local Jeep dealership and asked them to check it out. They kept it for 6 days and indicated that they could not recreate the issue. We picked the car up on Dec. 16th. On December 25 the car again lost all power while driving (lost engine, power steering, and power breaks). Fortunately this occurred on a local road and the car was able to be coasted to stop without incident. This time several indicators illuminated including the 'check engine' light. We had the car towed the next day to the same dealer. At the time of this writing, the dealership has had the car 22 days, and still have not been able to diagnose the issue. They did replace the pcm, however this did not correct the issue. I'm filing this complaint because of the potential safety issue. I also have a concern because Jeep is not able to properly diagnose the problem in a reasonable amount of time.

I purchased my brand new 2014 Jeep Cherokee with 30 miles. After about 1500 miles it began shifting very hard in low gears jerking , it red lines extremely hard to where it will jolt the Jeep and when I come to a stop it would begin raise rpms and accelerate. It would scare me senseless. I took it to the dealership they said that's how it performs and made me leave. 400 miles later the transmission completely blew out going 50 in la traffic. It was on back order for a month. Since then I have taken it in 8 times for the same problem a few times they have updated the tcm now they are saying there is no codes and they cannot duplicate it, even though it does it every single time. The Jeep will not know what gear to shift and leave me stranded in intersections before it shifts and peels out. When I break it'll pick up speed it is extremely unsafe and unreliable. Jeep has no fix for it and will not buy it back nor compensate me in anyway this isn't right and they should be forced to buy these be back. Last weekend I took it on a trip going downhill at 60 mph 2000 rpm I tapped the break and the Jeep revved to 5000 rpms also my horn is he hardest horn to push ever it does not work. The service department said its a little harder than normal but they cannot replace it since it doesn't give a code . Everyone and their mother is concerned and complains about this issue. One day this thing is going to get me in a wreck. I paid good money for this vehicle I just want something safe and reliable for my family. I wish Jeep Chrysler however it is would just do the right thing.

66 Automatic Transmission Control Module problem

The car is only 5 months old. Has a zf 9 speed automatic transmission and 3. 2l 46 24v -vvt engine. I was driving on a tollway in moderate traffic at a speed of approximately 60-65 mph. Without slowing down or changing speed, the display on the dash listed "service transmission". All power to the engine was lost and car began to slow down. Would not respond to acceleration. Check engine light, stability control light, p! were all displayed. Had to find a way to the shoulder and stop car. Turned off car and restarted it. "check transmission " was displayed. Put it in drive and it felt like it was starting in 2nd or 3rd gear. Would not shift gears. Could get up to 35 mph with the tach at 2000 rpm. Would not shift at all. Got home and let car sit for a few hours. Started car after sitting for a few hours and the "service transmission" was gone. All other warning lights were gone except for service engine light. Drove to dealer next day and car appeared to shift ok. Dealer loaded pcm flash update. Reprogrammed tcm per TSB 21-018-14. Reprogrammed rf hub per 08-077-14. Car appears to be driving ok. Dealer said they couldn't find any problems with the transmission. They treated this very lightly . I feel this is a significant safety issue. Lossed all acceleration and controll at high speed. No notification of updates were sent previously.

67 Automatic Transmission Control Module problem

Later afternoon, I had trouble engaging the transmission into reverse. I was finally successful engaging the transmission and headed home (50 miles of backroad/highways). About 1/2 mile from home, the "malfunction indicator light" appeared on the dashboard, followed by the "transmission temperature warning light". In about 500 feet I arrived at an intersection and stopped. When I accelerated away from the intersection - the engine rev'd (rpm's jumped) but the car would barely move. I was able to drive it in this condition the remaining 4 blocks to home. I called a tow truck and they towed to the dealer. Note: the tow truck driver had difficulty engaging the transmission to move the vehicle off the street. The dealer had the vehicle for 8 days. They advised they found old codes, but could not replicate the problem. They installed a software upgrade on the transmission control module and returned the vehicle to me. The car now seems to shift "rough".

68 Automatic Transmission Control Module problem

Ever since the first update to the tcm, the transmission has been slipping and then grabbing. More than once, it has slipped when I had to pull out into fast moving traffic. The last time, I needed to pull out into traffic. As I pushed on the accelerator, the rpms increased, but the speed didn't. The engine rpm's spun up to around 6000 rpm and I was only travelling 15 mph. All of a sudden, the transmission grabbed. The wheels chirped and the vehicle accelerated. I was nearly hit from behind due to the failure of the Jeep to accelerate properly.

69 Automatic Transmission Control Module problem

Failure Date: 09/25/2014

Purchased a certified pre-owned Jeep Cherokee from local Chrysler dealership with 11,000 miles. On second day of driving, noticed that as the car shifts from second to third gear (usually around 17mph the entire car jolts / surges forward. At times when this happens, I have actually thought I have been bumped into by the car behind me, only to quickly determine it is the transmission. I have had the vehicle into service 3 times. First time, re-flashed transmission control module. Second time, transmission control module failed to accept programming and so was replaced. Third time, they re-flashed the control module again and said there was nothing more they could do to resolve the issue until Chrysler provides further direction. This is not only a nuisance, but a safety concern. It distracts the driver from focusing on the road and every time I accelerate from a stop I am reminded there is something not right with this vehicle - but with apparently nothing the dealership can do to fix it. I am requesting that Chrysler either provide a fix for the problem, or repurchase the car back from me.

70 Automatic Transmission Control Module problem

Failure Date: 09/03/2014

We purchased this vehicle new, with 4,658 miles on it and within the first day, we noticed the extremely rough shifting between 2nd ¿ 4th gears. After several pcm reprograms and a new transmission, it is still doing the rough shifting and continues to worsen. In heavy traffic, the accelerator is inconsistent, sluggishly moving forward on one occasion and lunging forward as if the gas pedal was mashed to the floor on the next. Same can be said for braking; rough down shifting and often times feeling as though the vehicle is still trying to accelerate as if the gas pedal is still pressed even though the brake is being applied. In another incident, I started the vehicle, with my foot on the brake shifted it to drive, then began to release the pressure from the brake to inch forward, when it suddenly lurched forward nearly striking my parents. Additionally, the vehicle now seems to be driving itself. When entering my neighborhood doing approximately 25mph, upon letting up on the gas completely, the vehicle maintains the rpm¿s and speed on a flat surface as if the cruise control is on. We have filed for the MD lemon law with Chrysler, but after a test drive with one of the their reps where the car was not as violent in the shifting but still quite rough, the rep declared the vehicle as ¿performing as designed and ¿it¿s the adaptive learning of the vehicle and closed the case. This vehicle is completely unpredictable and inconsistent, and quite frankly, unsafe and nerve racking to drive. My wife will not drive nor ride in it any longer for fear of an accident, nor will she allow our son to ride in it. In my 28 years of driving, I have never owned nor driven a vehicle that actually made me feel unsafe in. As I stated to the rep on the test drive: with this vehicle, it¿s not a matter of if this thing gets in an accident, but rather when!.
