Constant transmission issues/ jerks and hard thrusts. Been in Jeep dealership many times with complaint. Same issues now out of warranty. Now as of Dec 25 2020, vehicle went completely dead , came back on and now throws all service lights on dash and vehicle will not move out of gear. Have to disconnect battery to put into park/neutral to move out of way. Undriveable . This 2014 lattitude has been a nightmare and an unsafe vehicle from the beginning. Unfortunately I was upside down on finance or it would have been gone. Now with it almost being paid off I am in financial ruin over this once again. Unsafe vehicle.
The 2014 Jeep Cherokee trail hawk has had multiple issues with it not shifting into gear, being "confused" after coming to a stop and not shifting into the proper gear. When trying to accelerate after a red light or stop sign vehicle will not go when the accelerator is engaged, then after a few seconds it unexpectantly lunges forward into gear and into traffic. All recalls have pointed to this being a "software" issue and I have had all software recalls completed on the transmission and the problem persists. This vehicle has had this problem shortly after purchase and continues to have it on a daily basis. Recently this issue cased the 4wd unavailable light to go off, and now the vehicle will not shift in 4wd low. After multiple trips to the dealer the consensus is that the batter is not functioning properly even though it is operating at the proper current and voltage.
While I was driving down a hill the car dinged and it said service transmission, when I was on flat road after the hill the car was not shifting gears its like it was stuck in a higher gear, if I slowed down it all it would jerk and sputter till I got it going a lil faster, but it would still not change gears.
Service shifter display on instrument panel. Cannot change gears. All over world wide web with others having same issue. Jeep dealer replaced. With new wire harness and gear shift bezel. $500 dollars. Might have been a serious safety issue. Wire harness was not soldiered correctly to shifter bezel.
My Jeep will jump forward uncontrollably while moving between 9-13 mph. When it happens, it sounds like a bomb going off in the transmission slamming gears down. This happens regularly and can not be controlled. Often times this will happen with the shift lights are all red and you can not tell what gear you are in. I've had this shift module replaced multiple times and on the way home from the dealer will jump again.
Near death experience too many times. Have reported this to the dealerships and to Jeep headquarters. It is a known issue with Jeep and they fail to do anything about it. If you try to accelerate from a incomplete stop (such as slowing down on a ramp and then speeding up) the car does not shift into gear and you are left sitting in the middle of dangerous traffic. Eventually it will shift and buck and throw the car into high speed as the transmission tries to catch up to the fuel that was dumped into the engine as a result of the car not changing gears and going forward when the gas was first applied. Have narrowly avoided being blind sided in intersections almost daily!!! so sick of Jeep not fixing it, and knowing about the issue for years and years and years. It is a death machine just waiting for the next kill. You can see all the complaints on this year (2014) and (2015) with this car. I have had into the shop repeatedly since purchasing this vehicle new and still no resolution from Jeep. They don't care if you die in the car, even though they know the car will not shift into gear when trying to accelerate from a stop or a slow roll. This report wants to know when this happened. It happens every single day since the day we bought the car. I would have reported it daily if I had known this form existed before today.
Vehicles nine speed automatic transmission does not go to first gear upon making a complete stop. The transmission goes automatically to third gear or second gear. This results in the transmission starting from a stop from third gear (unless manually downshifted) reducing power and can result in a slow take-off, increasing risk of a collision or the vehicle rolling back into vehicles behind the car. I have had several close calls because of this. Ninth gear never engages, this has to result in lowered fuel economy and reduced engine and transmission life as does starting from third gear. I believe the transmission to be defective and have read of numerous complaints from other customers of these exact same problems. The vehicle has received re-programming on all recalls and now Jeep customer service states this is "normal" and "no defect" thus, no repair necessary and not covered by warranty. Vehicle was advertised and sold to me as a "nine speed automatic transmission" in effect, Jeep deceived customers selling them an eight speed semi-automatic transmission. Email chain attached.
Shifting hard through the gears. Sometimes not shifting in the correct order. Surging or lurching forward when shifting. Going up hills (20mph) transmission will stay in a higher gear resulting in low power. Starting at a stop light transmission will not go into gear.
Have been having problems since March, 2015 with the new 9-speed zf automatic transmission dropping out of gear into neutral, not shifting while travelling at highway speed, low speeds, etc. Have taken it to farrish, cjd in fairfax, virginia, hoover cjd in summerville, SC and rick hendricks cjd in north charleson, SC. All were "unable to duplicate" the shifting problem. According to my maintenance records, the wiring harness recall was accomplished on July 12, 2016. Since that time, the transmission has had the same issues at least once each week, sometimes multiple times. Following are the latest problems I've recently had: 1. Friday, June 29thwhen i1st cranked, service transmission came on in the heads-up display and the Jeep wouldn't go into reverse. 2. Monday, Jul 2, '18 while driving, car shifted into neutral while driving and would not go into gear. 3. Friday, Jul 20th, '18 service transmission came on in hud while driving at 25 to 30 mph. Jeep wouldn't shift to higher gear. Jeep travels but never shifts and rpms increased to over 3000. Stopped car at my destination, cut it off and allowed it to reset, and worked fine on my drive home. 4. Friday, Jul 20th-while driving in north charleston, service transmission came on in hud and the Jeep felt like it shifted into neutral. No power! Jeep went from 2400 rpms to close to 1000 rpms. Floored accelerator and had no power and Jeep would barely move. 5. Monday, Jul 23, 18-while driving 25 to 30 mph, service transmission came on the hud and Jeep wouldn't shift to higher gear. Rpms increased but it wouldn't shift to the next gear. From a stop, it appeared to shift out of first but wouldn't shift into the next gear. I have videos of the above multiple incidents.
Transmission not shifting properly. From stop the "d" for drive blinks and it wont go into gear. Happened twice. Car lunges and kicks when shifting with possibility of going out at speed.
I had just left the gas station where I filled up. When in gear from a stop there was a lengthy delay as the engine rpm's rise and vehicle barely moved. After 10 to 20 seconds another gear will engage and the vehicle will pick up speed at which point another gear will violently slam into operation. The vehicle will seem to function normally at that point until slowing down when the vehicle shifts violently and erratically, shifts into neutral without warning. By now all warning lights have lit up. Check engine light, parking brake light, "service transmission" appear on display and that alternates with "shift to park and then to desired gear". Shutting the vehicle off and restarting after 24 hours revealed that only the "check engine" light was on and when vehicle is put in "drive", there was no violent gear engagement, but vehicle barely moved. I put the vehicle back in park and shut it off.
I was driving and the speed was declining until it completed stopped and would not allow me to accelerate anymore. I was stranded on the side of the road, I tried to put it back in drive but it would only roll backwards even though I was not in reverse gear. Then it started smoking and leaking coolant.
The contact owns a 2014 Jeep Cherokee. While driving at unknown speeds, the vehicle was getting stuck in gear. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer (bob poynter Chrysler, 3020 b national rd, columbus, in) where it was diagnosed that the system needed to be updated. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. On July 1, 2017, while driving at unknown speeds, the vehicle would not shift into gear and the "error car must be in park before shifting gear" message appeared. The contact restarted the vehicle and took it to community Chrysler Dodge Jeep ram (2300 s walnut st, bloomington, in 47101) where it was diagnosed that the system needed to be updated again. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. Additionally, while driving unknown speeds, the vehicle stalled without warning. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer who stated that an appointment was needed for service. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. An appointment was scheduled for a later date. The manufacturer was notified of the issue and referred the contact to the local dealer. The failure mileage was 51,000.
5 times now the car will not move it says check transmission this has happened in middle of highway and in the middle of town in traffic Chrysler has reset and replaced transmission modules and it is still doing it! this is very dangerous! on the road you slow to a stop it idles down and goes to check transmission and will not move either get it pushed out of the way or had to roll backwards out of traffic at a light. Once had to push across 4 lanes of road to get out of traffic again rolled up to a stop it lt would not go into gear forwards or back!.
Transmission issues and traction control. Lurches forward, shakes when taking off, hesitates when taking off (sometimes 10 seconds or more) then kicks into gear really hard. Traction light comes on and have reduced power, rpms are very high but the car just doesn't want to go. Sometimes will tell me to put the car in park then shift to desired gear. The trans will not go into gear. It left me stranded alone on a major road late at night. When it arrived at the dealership, they couldn't find anything wrong with it. It has spent over a month at one dealership. Been in multiple times for the trans and they do an update and say its all good. This car has put me in quite a few near misses. You never know when you are not going to have the power you need. The times I have experienced the problems, it didn't matter if I was turning or driving a straight line. This has been going on with my vehicle for 2 years. They performed a recall that was supposed to fix it but I did nothing. Its almost like it got worse.
Approximately 1 week upon receiving my trailhawk I began having trouble with the transmission jerking when I would accelerate. I took my vehicle back to the dealer but they said nothing was wrong with the vehicle. Since that date I have returned the vehicle on the following dates for the same issue: 08/03/2015san marcos Jeep service 2990 s. The shift gear to park and service transmission lights came on. I was stranded, alone with my son, in the middle of the road. With fear of being rear-ended, I had to put my hazards on and exit the vehicle with my toddler in tow. I contacted my aaa and they were able to tow the vehicle to the nearest Jeep dealer for inspection and repair. The Jeep dealer had my vehicle for 13 days while it made the necessary repairs. Once again, I was alone with my son on April 23, 2017 when the vehicle failed to work safely/correctly in a busy intersection. The trailhawk gives no warning that this is about to happen. The vehicle had the same lights come on and refused to move forward.
When driving at highway speeds or low speed on streets vehicle jerks and displays message "shift to paris then desired gear. " next message to be displayed is "service transmission. " driver has to pull over to shift to park. Vehicle transmission does not shift into gear for several minutes while check engine, and several other icons flash on instrument panel. Vehicle will then stall. After several minutes after power down vehicle, gear will engine and vehicle will run rough. Gears will not shift smoothly. Vehicle has 54,000 miles and has had gear box software flashed already once in the last 90 days.
After purchasing the new 2014 Jeep Cherokee latitude, I noticed that it had a rough time shifting. The transmission would shift violently from 2nd to 3rd gear and anytime you would stop on an incline. We have had all the necessary recalls done to the vehicle but it has continued to have the same problem. When communicating this issue to the dealership all I get is that we are not used to the 9 gear transmission and we need to get used to it. I will be taking it in for the fourth time to see if they can fix it. On a second note I have also had the vehicle taken in to the shop to see why the vehicle suddenly shuts off. This has also happened to us on several occasions, but when I take it to the dealership they tell me there is nothing wrong. This is a huge safety issue and concerns me. This would be a disaster if it happens to die when I am on the highway. I am very disappointed with this vehicle and more so with the way I am treated when I take it to the dealership. There is something seriously wrong with this vehicle and it needs to be addressed before people get injured.
Vehicle stalling while in motion,(feels like it shifts itself into neutral) only dash notification is saying to to place in park and shift to desired gear. This happened 3 times in 3 days, all three time my safety was at risk as you are unable to accelerate. I had to wait until it coasts to a full stop to shift to park and then several tries to restart vehicle, once started car still will not move when pressing gas pedal for few moments although rpms are at 5 or 6 like its not in gear. In all instances I was in traffic and almost rear ended by other vehicles. There is no warning lights or sounds that make you aware that an issue is happening so you can pull to safety. Jeep is in dealership now but am afraid they will tell me they cannot duplicate the problem, reflash the module and send me on the way. I have researched the problem and this is a common problem and common repair scenario at dealership but does not fix issue. I am afraid I will be rear ended by a fast moving vehicle as this has happened 2 times on the highway and once in middle of intersection. It is very scary when this happens as I have had my grandchildren in the vehicle 2 times when it occurred. I am very unhappy with this car as it is my first purchase not lease in 10 years. I don't know what I am going to do, still waiting to hear from dealership which is another issue as I took in yesterday at 7am and it is now the 2nd day at 9 am and nobody has called. I missed a day of work yesterday and have to go out of town for work for 2 days tomorrow. This report is my proof if I should be killed in my Jeep that theres an issue of it stalling in traffic and highway conditions.
I got a service parking brake message on the screen, the Jeep just stopped moving, engine still runs but will not shift gears. Once in heavy traffic! I turned the engine off and back on, I got a service transmission message. I put the Jeep in gear and it moved only have a loud jerk. It was towed to the dealer. They kept the car 2 days and called to tell me it was fixed. I picked it up and drove it one day, the next morning the exact same problem happened. I turned the engine off and back on and slowly drove it to the dealer. This time it stayed in the dealer's shop for 5 days. This vehicle is very unsafe. When the error message flashes on the screen the Jeep does not move, it does not coast to a stop so you can pull out of traffic, it stops dead right there. It doesn't matter if you are driving 5 mph or 70 mph, it does not move after getting the message. I feel very unsafe driving this vehicle now.
Major safety issue. My family and I were several close calls resulting from the faulty transmission. For example, nearly t-boned by oncoming traffic because the transmission did not shift into gear causing a hesitation (pausing the vehicle onto oncoming traffic). Several other times while approaching a red light, the Jeep would jump (yes, literally jump) forward nearly hitting car in front of us. Same thing in a drive thru bank or restaurant. Transmission issue began at 6,000 miles and was purchased on 10/4/2014 (within the 2 yr period and before 24,000 miles). I am clueless on what to do? I want to thank you again for your help and pointing me in the right direction if possible. . . For the record! the Jeep is not, I repeat not running correctly. In the last month, we were almost in three accidents. Is that what it is going to take, us to get injured or worse? two weeks ago we are approaching a red light and while approaching the car in front of me (about 3 mph) the light turned green. And the car jumped into gear almost hitting the car in front of me. If the car in front of me would not have sped up, we would have hit them. Please keep in mind, my foot was on the break while it was jumping fwd. I am no longer driving this Jeep till it gets fixed. I want you to know it is unsafe. Period. I am not going to put me. My fiance, and/or our kids any longer. Ever since corwin Dodge has put the new transmission in, the problem has worsened. The issue has been duplicated by service manager jd weatherfield the transmission problem has been diagnosed several times and updates were supposedly given??? please see attached the last 11 issues with transmission. Respectfully request a Chrysler buyback option. Lemon law. Thank you.
Previous owner of '99 Jeep grand Cherokee for 13 years. Traded it on the 2014 Jeep Cherokee sport 3 months ago. During first month while driving up a mountain, vehicle started losing power and all of the warning lights and chimes came on at the same time along with wipers. Wipers were in the off position, so could not turn wipers off. Had to drive this way until I could reach auto parts store to get the fault codes read. Nothing showed up. Started back up, warning lights gone. Also, constant rough shifting in 1st, 2nd to 3rd gears. Often feels like car is in neutral- not in any gear for a few seconds while driving. At one point, transmission was slamming into gear around 27mph. Major hesitation when pulling out from stop. Concerns me that car is not going to move and that I might get hit by another car. Have to be very alert when driving this car and have to be constantly aware of what the transmission is doing. Transmission seems to be thinking about shifting and not doing anything for a few seconds while driving. At around 26 mph, if you take your foot off the gas, the vehicle actually speeds up. Not safe! called sales manager at dealership and was told that this is the way this computerized transmission is supposed to act and nothing that could be done but I can make an appointment if I wanted. The service tech repeated almost word for word what I was told by sales manager. Tech could not find anything wrong during test drive. Suggested I allow a sales person to drive it home that evening. Sales person must have noticed something since tech called to say they would be changing the shift point parameters and suggested sales person take it home again. Slamming into gear around 27mph stopped, but hesitation, speeding up when coasting and rough shifting has continued. Not liking this car at all! older is definitely better when it comes to Jeeps!.
Driving to work on hwy in heavy traffic I accelerated up a small hill car jerked then powered down on hwy at 65 mph I was able to coast over three lanes of traffic and pull off to side of road then noticed service transmission, check parking break, put car in park and then select gear all came on as messages also the traction control light came on. Put care in park and restarted engine all lights/messages still on dash and car would not go into gear for driving. Tried two more times and finally could drive under 50 mph straight to dealer for service. The check transmission light remained on during my entire drive to the dealership. I had previously experienced acceleration when in traffic coasting and my foot off gas pedal. Also hard shifting multiple times like it was skipping gears when accelerating. Very scary and unsafe situation to be in.
Was driving in very busy town, luckily turning into a parking lot, Jeep had lost all power, and was showing engine light, etc light flashing, and traction control was shut off. Got the Jeep running again about 15 minutes later, auto zone was next door but they could not read the codes. Had to drive an hour to the closest dealership. Was told there was a recall that needed to be updated, was told to drive it so many miles to reset everything, then sent back on my way. The next day I was putting the required miles on it, it left me stranded on the side of highway with young child, got it to start again and made it back to park it the rest of the day. Next morning drove 1/4 mile down road and it had lost all power again. Called dealership to let them know I was bringing it back, Jeep would not go past 3rd gear, almost hit multiple times trying to get off the road. Got to dealership, they told me it is un-driveable after driving over an hour to get there, they had Jeep almost 3 weeks. Mileage was around 18,000. Would need to replace transmission, when they finally called to say it was ready, I was told it was bc it needed an oil change. . . With only 3500 miles on this change(feb2015-march2015). Now(oct2015) Jeep shows engine, etc, traction control, after turning at light in neighborhood. Took Jeep to new dealership, could not recreate problem, 3 days for diagnosis.
A list of the current life threatening and non life threatening conditions I have encountered with my Jeep Cherokee trailhawk. The most serious being a persistent problem in relation to the transmission shifting and accelerating causing the car to jerk and in some cases whiplash. As an electrical engineer I have seen the electronic repairs made to the vehicle and yet there is still persistent mechanical problems with this transmission. I have encountered lint mode were the car will not move from gears 1, 2, or 3 on 65mph highway which I believe has caused irreversible damage to the car. The issue occurred in July on route 202 in a cattle shoot created by summer time road work I had to continue to drive the vehicle nearly 2 miles until I was able to pull over and asses the issue. Below is a list of current and past problems: -transmission stopped on a 65mph highway (new software loaded still a problem) -shifter locked in drive couldn't shift to neutral took 4 hours to shut car off at dealership (entire shifter replaced) - navigation (replaced two times, on my third nav system) - window motor mechanism (replaced) - moonroof shade and assembly (being replaced this week) -faulty wiring of cigarette lighter causing fuse to blow due to electrical short (rewired and fuse replaced) -speaker (replaced) -waterproofing trim falling off (replaced) -rattling from bolts for seat-belts (attempted fix didn't work) -O2 sensor causing multiple engine starts (replaced) -front seat uneven (replaced) -recalls ranging from hacking to electrical shorts that have been noted to cause a serious electrical fire.
I have had three recalls on this model. One for a transmission recalibration, one for a shock absorber, and one for an airbag. There is one outstanding for the liftgate but the parts are not available. ---I stopped at a stop sign on April 1, 2015 and turned right. The vehicle wouldn't accelerate and several icons appeared on the dash. I turned the vehicle off and on several times and shifted it in and out of gear several times. It finally went into gear and moved forward but was locked into about fourth gear. I travelled 15 miles to the nearest chysler/Jeep dealership for service. The dealership recalibrated the transmission. On may 29 and may 30 the parking brake and engine icon appeared on the dash and when I shifted the vehicle into gear it would not go out of gear because the parking brake was on. I pressed and released the parking gear several times and then it would go into park and I could shut the engine off. This happened several times in my garage. I called Chrysler/Jeep on June 5th at about 40,000 miles and had the vehicle towed to the closest dealership (where I had taken it before). The dealership replaced the transmission module. Two different times since the module was replaced there have been icons appear on the dash. I turn the vehicle off and on and the icons eventually disappear. The transmission is slow to engage after backing up and sluggish to shift when slowing to a stop and then moving forward.
The transmission of my Jeep does work properly. It fails to shift properly, sometimes it is sluggish/ fails to go into gear as it should. It happens when I am just starting from a stop and when I am going down the highway. I have been to my Jeep dealership 4 times to have them repair this issue. They have updated the software. The problem still exists. I want fiat chyrsler to do the right things and issue me a replacement vehicle.
Earlier I reported about having trouble in second gear. Now the transmission is having problem and service transmission light came on in a brand new car with just under 7000 miles. The problem started with jerks during gear shifts from park to drive and vice-verse. Then, I could feel jerks while shifting from 4th to 5th gear and when it would shift back to 4th from 5th, the engine would rev upto 2000 rpm and then slow down. That was kind of dangerous as it would accelerate the vehicle where you need it to stop. All of a sudden, the service transmission light came on the vehicle would not move from 6th gear and I had to stop on the side of the highway. After switching the engine off and on again, the vehicle started driving but the same problem started repeating. I was on a vacation driving up north in north hampshire, vermont and new york and I had to get back home. Somehow I was able to make it home. I'm still waiting for the dealer to give me a confirmation about a loaner car so that I can give it for repairs.
The transmission does not always change gears immediately when going from high speed (70) to a lower speed (45). It stays in the higher gear and then will jerk into the lower gear. I have been to the dealership where the vehicle was purchased several times, but I keep being advised that there is not a problem. Believe me, there is a problem. I also had the car for 2 weeks and had to have both front tie rods replaced. Would not recommend a Jeep Cherokee to anyone.
I was driving on a low traffic road going approximately 30 mph when the parking brake error warning light appeared on the dash hud and the gear selector d was flashing. Another warning appeared in the hud that stated "service transmission", as well as the check engine light and stability control warning light. As this began I was on a slight incline and began drifting backward, leading me to believe the engine had died but I could still hear it was on so I applied more pressure to the gas pedal but couldn't move forward. I turned the engine off and as I turned the car back on, another warning appeared stating that I should put it in park before attempting to shift (I was in park at the time) so I went ahead and shifted to drive but the entire car jerked and made a very loud thud that sounded as if I was shifting into another gear while flooring the gas pedal. When I finally was able to go forward, I could barely move even though I was applying full throttle and the rpms were redlined. I couldn't go any faster than 15 mph for the remainder of my trip (I only had a mile to go since I was almost home) and the rpms stayed redlined for about half that time but I was never able to accelerate over that 15 mph for the duration of the trip. When I got to my driveway, I put it in park again and opened the hood and the engine was idling much louder than usual.
Transmission shifts hard from 1st to 2nd, and from 2nd to 3rd. It also has a pronounced "wobble after it shifts from 1st into 2nd gear, and continues until it shifts hard into 3rd gear at about 20 mph. After a stop will not go into 1st gear for a second or two, then abruptly surges forward with more speed than the amount of accelerator you are giving it. When decelerating, the transmission will actually go into 4th gear and add fuel causing the tachometer to go up between 500 and 1000 rpm. The transmission although touted as a "9 speed", is useless, as it will not go in either automatically or manually at any speed below 75 or 76 mph even though it easily could at 67 or 68 mph with sufficient rpm to still maintain speed. This Jeep is equipped with the towing package from the factory. Towing a 17' boat traveling over 300 miles, the car ran normally on the way to the destination shifting when it needed to and even going into 8th gear a good deal of the trip. On the return trip, the transmission refused to shift out of 5th gear even though the tach was registering 3k to 4k rpm even when going downhill. It also seemed to be losing power and having difficulty going up slight grades on the interstate. A few times I got it into 7th gear by completely letting up on the gas going downhill but as soon as we started up a slight grade it would again go into 5th and not shift into a higher gear. When I reported these problems to the dealer, I was told that this is normal operation for this transmission / vehicle. I've never had a car that did these things and could be called "normal operation". I feel this transmission is a clear danger to all who have bought this vehicle, and the NHTSA really needs to look into this and have Chrysler do something soon to rectify these problems before major accidents, injuries, and death are the outcome.
The contact owns a 2014 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated that the shift lever failed to shift gears properly. The vehicle was taken to the dealer several times. The technician was unable to remedy the failure after an unknown manufacturers recall repair was performed. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and they provided no remedy. The approximate failure mileage was 400.
While sitting on an incline at a stop light, our brand new 2014 Jeep Cherokee that had only bought 2 days before shifted in to neutral on its own and rolled backwards when the gas was pressed. We had to shift the transmission into manual and back to auto several times to get the gears to catch. Luckily no one was injured and we did not roll backwards into traffic. After that incident the transmission was sluggish and would not shift gears properly.
Vehicle would not go into gear. Starts but won't move. Happened several times.
Chrysler's new 9 speed transmission started always speeding up when I would let off the gas and expect the vehicle to slow down, even when I just wanted to slow down while coming to a stop light or stop sign. When I hit the brake the vehicle would only then slow down. It scared me when the vehicle would excellerate on it's own. Shifting got very jerky and uneven seemed like could not decide which gear it should be in. While on the freeway in las vegas the message center said"service transmission and the engine light stayed on. When I was able to exit the freeway the transmission sounded like it had sand in it, a very loud grinding sound and there was no power to move the vehicle. I did get it to coast into a safe location to wait for the tow truck to come and get the vehicle. This was the second time this vehicle had a problem the first time was at 3,000 miles. Had the same message on the message center, again I coasted off the highway and came to a stop. At this time the transmission would not engage so the vehicle would not move. It was towed to a Jeep dealer where they said the computer needed an up date for the transmission, they did it and off we went not knowing that we would be left sitting on the side of the road a second time. I did not see a compliant for this type vehicle on your complaints box at this web-site but I have entered this compliant with you before.
