1 Transmission Failure problem

2 Transmission Failure problem

Failure Date: 09/03/2020

Transmission does not downshift smoothly during moving turns at intersections. When approaching a turn and gas is off/brake is on, and still rolling at low speed (~5 mph) and then clear to proceed, brake is off/gas is back on, first shift is very violent, feels like I'm getting re-ended. Also at high speeds when in hill climb and situation where gas off to coast for a bit is required, violent upshift occurs. Feels like I'm being re-ended in both of these scenarios. I fear the transmission will fail on me during one of these slow speed situations in an intersection causing an accident or on the highway leaving me stranded. I have taken it too Jeep dealer here in scottsdale and they say nothing is wrong and that this zf 9 speed transmission is acting normally. I don't agree with that compared to many other cars I have driven over my lifetime. This transmission is not normal. This happens everyday. The only way to make it not do this is to stop for 1 second to allow the transmission to settle and then proceed which is not normal driving. I've owned vehicle for 1 year and behavior happens daily.

3 Transmission Failure problem

Failure Date: 09/02/2016

The contact owns a 2015 Jeep Cherokee. While driving at an unknown speed, the transmission failed and the vehicle would not accelerate. The check engine and abs indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer, but was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 11,772.

4 Transmission Failure problem

Failure Date: 06/24/2016

I was attempting to make a left turn on a busy city road when the car suddenly stopped dead without any warning signs. An oncoming tractor trailer had to swerve out of the way to avoid killing me. The aaa tow truck driver commented that it was the transmission that failed and it had set off the emergency brake. He noted that he had responded to the exact same scenario with a Jeep Cherokee the week before. The car has now been at the dealer for 21 days without any good results in sight. They have already replaced the new transmission which they installed admitting that the new transmission is faulty. I am aware of a class action suit for this same problem in their 2014 models and there will undoubtedly be one, if there isn't already, for the 2015 and 2016 models. They are not admitting the problem and will not admit the problem until there are several fatalities. Since I do not plan to be among them, I want a refund, not another piece of junk.

5 Transmission Failure problem

Failure Date: 06/24/2016

2015 Jeep Cherokee transmission failed to provide forward motion after initial acceleration during left hand turns with oncoming traffic, resulting in near collision on multiple occasions (11). The condition presents on any/all road types and conditions when turning left and occasionally when progressing straight from a stopped position. Oncoming vehicles have had to stop to avoid a head on collision. Dealer has been made aware of defect and the vehicle has been in for reprogramming on two occasions without proper repair. Current mileage is 22,147 miles.

6 Transmission Failure problem

Failure Date: 06/01/2016

Transmission has failed twice in less than 100 miles. We are on our thrid transmission.

7 Transmission Failure problem

Failure Date: 03/13/2016

Vehicle regularly has delayed shifting, loss of acceleration, etc. During regular traffic conditions. This has been very dangerous on multiple occasions during traffic merges and crossings with near collisions. The transmission itself in the new Cherokee is an overly complicated and poorly performing product that fca and its dealers refuse to fix. It's only a matter of time until my Cherokee's transmission fails and/or causes an accident.

The transmission was reprogrammed, but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 51,968.

9 Transmission Failure problem

Failure Date: 10/14/2015

I bought my car 3/29/2015. My car has been in the shop 4 times in the 6 months since I have bout it. It had the transmission valve replaced, the harness replaces, and after all of that still did not fix anything. My car is currently having a new transmission put in ( only has 5,000) miles on it! so many costumers are having the same issues with their 2015 Cherokees, they are unsafe and have caused many accidents from transmission failures. They need to be recalled!!!.

10 Transmission Failure problem

Failure Date: 10/02/2015

Driving up steep hill, transmission failed, car went into neutral, flashing red messages on dash, car rolled backwards. Had to put on emergency brake and jump out. Towed to local dealership in berkely, CA. They replaced transmission and updated software as of oct. 1,2015. Car purchased new in Feb. 2015, has 5000 miles. Now car lurches forward, when driving. I feel like I will have an accident. Chrysler customer care doesn't return phone calls. I guess I am lucky I haven't injured myself or anyone else yet!!.

13 Transmission Failure problem

Failure Date: 09/07/2015

As I drove my Jeep Cherokee limited up my very steep driveway in the berkeley, CA. Hills the transmission failed, red lights came on flashing messages and the car went into neutral and rolled backwards down hill. I almost went off a canyon rd. But I put on emergency brake and jumped out! then I had problems geting it taken back to dealer who sold it to me. Now it is in a Jeep dealer where they are installing anew transmission. No one at Chrysler will call me back or my mother who bought me the car. They told her to file a calif. Lemon law form but that u have to wait for 3 incidences to occur. My mother said she is not waiting for me to roll down the canyon and be killed in order to get our money back. This is very serious and Chrysler doesn't care. The NHTSA should order a recall of this car before someone is killed.

14 Transmission Failure problem

Failure Date: 08/21/2015

Transmission failed to shift. Check engine light on, service transmission message displayed.

15 Transmission Failure problem

Failure Date: 05/29/2015

Car transmission failed, causing us to get hit numerous times. Can not accelerate when necessary, sometimes it will go fine and other times gas pedal floored and go no where.

16 Transmission Failure problem

Failure Date: 04/10/2015

Transmission failed at 1,000 miles. Dealer replaced with a redesigned version. I started to get a wobble in the front end while I was accelerating. I brought it back and they said that it was a known issue and they were redesigning the front axles but the fix wasn't out yet. A few weeks later the metal frame in my sunroof broke and the weather stripping fell out and I couldn't close the shade. They informed me that the entire sunroof assembly had to be replaced because the frame was defective. The wobble continued to get worse and the car was shifting rougher than ever. I kept telling the dealership that there was something wrong, and they said "that's how the new 9 speed trans behave". When I brought the car in for the sunroof replacement I asked them to look at the wobble and trans again, and they informed me that the front axle was indeed bad. They put in the redesigned axles, and replaced the entire sunroof. I continue to have serious transmission issues and they put in a new valve body and updated the software. It's worse than ever. I kept complaining to Jeep and all they said was "the dealership can't replicate your problem. " I actually had the service manager in the car with me and he verified that the car does not drive properly- and when Jeep called me, they told me that I had to go to another dealership. This car is not safe. It hesitates when you step on the gas, then it jerks very hard into second gear, it will accelerate on it's own because it can't find a gear to downshift, and the engine will spontaneously rev on it's own if I am descending a hill and its trying to downshift. The car will leap forward and accelerate until I press the brake hard enough to slow it down and it will finally shift. The rpms will go up for several seconds after I've applied the brake. The vehicle also rolls several inches after I put it in park now.

17 Transmission Failure problem

Failure Date: 04/09/2015

After doing the Jeep Cherokee power train recall for the transmission my car would only drive from a flat surface to a hill at 20 mph and then drift slowly down speed wise. After getting to a flat surface I was able to get the car up to a speed of 40 mph and then let off the gas at which time the car started to grab and slow quickly by 10 mph and the rpms went from 4 to 1 and there was a huge bang underneath my car. Took the car to get serviced based on the check engine light saying for a start stop systen failure (2nd check engine light for this problem). The dealer told me that the new recall would have to take time on the computer to readapt to driving tendencies of the driver according to Jeep but would be happy to test drive it for me. In a matter of 30 minutes I was given a call that I had a transmission failure and needed a new transmission. I was given a rental no other information and sent on my way. I think to only have 2600 miles on a 2015 Jeep Cherokee that I bought in November is a shame and Jeep and Chrysler should be ashamed. Talking about a $30,000 car to have to have a new transmission installed at only 2600 miles makes me worried when my bumper to number expires what could I have to replace to keep it on the road.
