From stop accelerating to merge with highway traffic and pulling out of a street the car won't move. It's like the transmission is slipping. Very dangerous, have been almost hit several times. Other times the transmission shifts irregularly. Have taken it to our local dealership twice and have a third scheduled.

Driving on local street about 25 mph when service transmission warning comes on. Vehicle would not shift beyond 2nd gear, transmission began slipping and eventually would only shift into drive or reverse after delays of about ten seconds. Vehicle needed to be towed in to dealer.
2014 Jeep Cherokee latitude. Fwd v6. The transmission slips and has delayed engagement upon takeoff and while shifting from low speeds. Transmission also hunts for gears between 0-15 mph and will jerk car back and forth. When transmission delays engagement (pressing down gas pedal in drive but car isn't moving) it will eventually grab and spins the tires a little before going. My wife and I have had numerous close calls/near accidents due to this issue. Turning onto incoming traffic (legally) and the vehicle wont move. It can be terrifying. This mostly happens driving on city streets. I hate this car.
Transmission slipping and banging. Slips at start from stop.
Transmission slipping and sluggish, eventually failed to shift into any gear.
The vehicle from the time we purchased it from the dealer has had a transmission shifting problem. The problem shifting happens between 1st and 2nd gear and also when you go to stop. Recently while driving the transmission seemed to slip and the vehicle was not engaged causing us to pull over to the side of the road. The engine was revving but the transmission was no longer engaged. Vehicle was turned off and restarted which we then put the car in drive and moved onto the roadway again. I have brought the vehicle to the dealer for this twice before. On the first visit the dealership said to just drive it and it will smooth out. On the second visit the dealership gave us the first software update which was done in April of this year, but it only lasted around a month or two. The problem is back again and I have made another appointment to bring it in on Thursday, July 3rd for another software update.
The nine speed transmission is horrible at lower gears. The accelerated transition between second and third gear cause the transmission to slip and lunge the car forward. Another issue is during a yield intersection the transmission either doesn't engage, stays at the lower gear or slips follow by a lunge. My father purchased a Chrysler some 30 years ago and vowed he would never repeat that mistake - the car won't run in the rain and transmission dropped. He laugh when I purchase the Jeep should have listen to him. I too vow never to purchase another Chrysler product.

While driving engine check light came on. Consumer pulled over to check under the hood. Consumer indicated that before engine check light came on, gears were slipping. A couple of days before, engine quit and vehicle would not go over 25mph. Took vehicle to dealer, and they said it was a common transmission problem. Dealer rebuilt transmission. At another time, consumer heard a loud bang. She stopped/looked under car, and noticed oil on the back window due to engine rod breaking off, piercing three holes in oil pan. No warning at all, and then vehicle died.

The rear axle has a egineering defect, admitted by Chrysler, that cause the transmission to slip at start and stop. They have said some cars have it and some don't. Mine does. The rental they gave me which was identical didn't have the problem. I have had it in 4 times in 6 months and they have finally told me they consider it "within limits" even though some of the same vehcile don't have the problem an others are really bad. I can't even resell the vehicle due to the problem. They "altered" my transmission where it attaches to the axle to "assist" the problem. They also "altered" the springs. I'm concerned what they actually did to my care and it's safety at this point.
