As I was driving the car notified me that my 4wd was temporary suspended and after sometime it showed service transmission and the service light came on and my steering was stuck, it was difficult to control the car but I managed to stop the car in a remote place. After I tried to restart the Jeep I could not restart it and there was not cranking noise and I got 3 messages on my dash. "service transmission" "service park brake" and svc 4wd. I have had the Jeep for less than a month. It just had 939 miles on it.

Vehicle suddendly stalls, check engine light came on and a message that says service transmission, press parking brake, when started the vehicle and put it in reverse a big noise was heard from under the car this happened 3 times. I dont feel safe taking my family in this car that can stall in the middle of a highway, and can cause a big accident.

39 Transmission Noise problem of the 2014 Jeep Cherokee

Failure Date: 02/14/2015

Since I bought this Jeep new in 2014 its been unable to predictably go from stop to start. This is a major safety concern in stop and go traffic (which is daily where I live). I've had all the transmission flashes and each one seems to work for a week or two before this behavior returns. There's also a grinding/clanking noise when going from reverse to forward - the same noise can sometimes be heard when going over a speed bump.

40 Transmission Noise problem of the 2014 Jeep Cherokee

Failure Date: 01/29/2015

On or around January 29, 2015, when I went to start the vehicle it lunged forward even though the transmission was in park and the parking brake was set. The transmission was reflashed by the Jeep dealership on February 3, 2015. On the drive home from the dealership, the check engine light came on and began making a loud whine/chatter/chirping/metal sequel noise when accelerating. The vehicle was towed to another Jeep dealership where the transmission was replaced under warranty. Starting on or around March 12, 2015, the vehicle began making the whine/chatter/chirping/metal sequel noise again when accelerating. I reported the defect or condition on wisconsin dot form mv2692 and made my vehicle available for repair 4 times (3/16/15, 3/18/15, 3/24/15, & 4/8/15). Fiat Chrysler automobiles (Jeep) and/or dealer is refusing, unwilling, or unable to repair the problem. Another problem related to the vehicles transmission occurred on April 30, 2015. I was at an intersection waiting to turn left. When pressed the accelerator to proceed through the intersection once the traffic cleared the vehicle hesitated to move and when the transmission finally connected it lunged causing the wheels spin. Since January 5, 2015, my vehicle has been out of service at the Jeep dealership for 46 days. The transmission problems along with the other 4 current defects or conditions were reported to Chrysler's enhanced customer satisfaction team over a month ago. According to the dealership, Chrysler has not replied with a resolution. Fiat Chrysler automobiles (Jeep) and/or dealer is refusing, unwilling, or unable to repair the problem.

41 Transmission Noise problem of the 2015 Jeep Cherokee

Failure Date: 10/20/2014

Loud noise from the engine/transmission then the car completely shuts down and comes to a complete stop in the road. The car will then restart all systems with check engine light on. Has happened and been taken to the dealership for repairs on 10/20/2014, 12/1/2014, 12/3/2014,12/12/2014,12/22/2014. Dealership nor Chrysler know what is causing the issue and will not do anything except try to repair. I have concerns that if this issue happens at higher speeds on interstate what would happen.

42 Transmission Noise problem of the 2014 Jeep Cherokee

Failure Date: 08/01/2014

At low speed turns, left and right, ie in a parking lot or turning at an intersection, popping and groaning from front suspension/steering assembly. Very audible and ratcheting feel can be felt in the frame and steering wheel. Not an issue when driving straight or at speed. First trip to dealer. . . Could not duplicate. Next day, after contacting Jeep consumer service, the Jeep was taken back to the dealer and I test drove the vehicle in the parking lot for the service consultant. The popping/groaning noise was evident in every turn and the car was taken into the service area for suspected "suspension" problem. Next day contact with dealer. . . They think it is either the axles or transmission. Called Jeep and they called dealership. I was then told by Jeep they were replacing the axles. Subsequent msg from service department confirmed they were changing the right front axle but it was back ordered. Now two days. . . No Jeep, no transportation, no loaner. I am a master army aviator with thirty years of flying. I know when a machine is broke or about to be.

43 Transmission Noise problem of the 2014 Jeep Cherokee

Failure Date: 03/28/2014

I purchased a 2014 Jeep Cherokee ltd. In 10/2013 for my daughter to learn to drive (with learner's permit) and to drive when she gets her license soon. I was driving the car in March on I-10 in heavy traffic time when SUV made a whining noise, gears stalled for several seconds, rpm's dropped. SUV continued to do this at a variety of speeds with increasing frequency. The car has less than 7000 miles, so I brought SUV to selling dealer's service department and was told they could find nothing wrong. They guessed and updated software, then closed the service order. After leaving dealership, SUV performed 5 intermittent and similar episodes on the way to destination that was about 7 miles away. I returned SUV to the same service department the next day and reported the incident to chrylser and Jeep customer care (jcc). Jcc contacted the dealer. A decision was made to remove the entire transmission to be sent to Jeep engineers to dissect and determine cause of the problem. A new transmission exact to the old, only with 'updates' was placed in the SUV. Since these series of events have occurred, I have discovered that the Jeep Cherokee had 4 holds on releasing the SUV due to the issues with 9 gear fiat transmission. I was also told by the dealer that ours was the 2nd such case seen in their service department with the same problem. Ultimately, jcc offered more warranty and the ability to skip one payment of which I did not accept. The only acceptable offer would have been for the engineers to tell me that the SUV is safe for their own new teen driver or to take the SUV back, to no avail. Jcc sent the case to the 'case analyst' team, but ultimately closed the case as resolved. I have serious concerns about my daughter driving the SUV once she obtains her license. I also have concerns about her younger brothers riding in an SUV that may perform unsafely and unpredictably.

44 Transmission Noise problem of the 2014 Jeep Cherokee

Failure Date: 03/01/2014

Power train: transmission has been making a large thug which makes you feel like you got hit by a car or puts a delay which you think the car stalls. Now the transmission is making loud noises and with a increase of temperature. This issue has been ongoing since we've bought the car. Every time we change the oil or bring it to the dealership, we ask about this issue. They did a software push but it still did it and the dealership seem to blow us off every time.

45 Transmission Noise problem of the 2014 Jeep Cherokee

Failure Date: 02/01/2014

The transmission has had issues since I got the car, the dealer has done several software updates but none completely solve the issue. The car feels like it wobbles when it accelerates from a stop and they cannot seem to fix this problem or admit that there is one. Also, when you turn the steering wheel it makes a grinding or whining noise and I have brought it back twice for this. They just grease the system and it stays quiet for maybe 10 miles. I'm concerned that this could lead to a much bigger issue in terms of safety if it loses steering to some degree.

46 Transmission Noise problem of the 2003 Jeep Cherokee

Failure Date: 01/10/2005

Transmission making noise 1 week after purchase, took it in every 2 weeks to have it fixed for first 2 months. Vehicle had 40,000 km. Chrysler dealership answer was for us to do transmission fluid change (our expense), did not stop the noise, gave up after we took vehicle back 5 times, terrible service. Heater motor failed within 1 week of purchase, replace motor switch, heater fan making noise. Rear end was rebuilt 2 times within first 2 months of owning vehicle. Struts needed replacing within first month. Smoke comes from engine when stopped (intermittent), wheel alignment within first month (our expense again). This is our first and last Jeep/Chrysler product.
