Air Brake Disc problem is a common vehicle problem that happens to most car brands and models. The following is a sample list of Air Brake Disc problems reported in most popular vehicles.
The vehicle is a 2000 Chevrolet Silverado. Crash was involved with this problem. While slowly pulling in to my parking spot at work, I applied the brakes to stop. To my amazment, the brake pedel was extreamly hard. I had approx. 2 seconds to react before I rolled into an exhuast fan attched to a building. After a few taps on the brake pedel it was still hard as steel. By this time I had impacted with the exhaust fan. The damage to my truck was bad enough, however this outcome could have been far more serious if a CO-worker walking out of the door next to the exhaust fan was not as quick thinking as he was. The failure date was Jan. 8, 2003.

The vehicle was a 2001 Chrysler Pt Cruiser. The vehicle's vehicle identification number (VIN) is 3C4FY4BB51_. Rear brakes on 2001 Pt Cruiser w/25000 miles makes grinding noises when coming to a stop as if the pads are worn out. Dealer has checked the brakes multiple times and said they're showing normal wear on the pads. I was told that they've experienced this problem on other cruisers and Dodge neon's and there's nothing they can do. The failure date was 10/23/02.

The car is a 2003 Dodge Ram 1500. The vehicle identification number (VIN) is 1D7HA18D73_. 1) bought new 03 Dodge qc/laramie/hemi in oct 2003. 2) at 1000 miles my brakes began to warp
3) at 3,245 miles I brought my truck in for service; told the dealer (rockwall Dodge) that my brakes were warped. They're response was (on service bill) "brake pads worn out" but "no trouble found on test drive" they told me to take my car home because nothing was wrong with it. 4) for the next 3,000 miles I drive it until I cannot handle the truck anymore. Brakes make the vehicle shake violently; under towing loads the vehicle becomes unstable and uncontrollable. I take the truck back to the dealer who refuses to give me a rental for work under warranty to the brakes which now required my calipers, rotors and pads to be replaced because the warping was so severe. Dealer requests I pay for a rental for the time it takes to fix the car because they do not have the parts. 4) steering gears warp which causes the need for the entire rack assembly to be replaced at 14,000 miles; more than likely from the ruined brakes. 5) brakes replaced again at 19,000 and 21,000 miles. 6) 4 total inquiries on brake issues. Contacted Dodge about the problem and they quote "will fix the brakes until the warranty is over. After 36,000 miles the problem is no longer ours and you are out of luck". Contacted dealership truck was bought from. Says they do not know anything about the texas lemon law and offered to help me out of the situation first by saying I'd get an even trade for a new 04, but when I showed up in person they responded if I gave them $8,000 to trade for the new truck. It was Dec. 9, 2003 when this air brake disc issue happened.

The vehicle involved was a 2005 Dodge Neon. For 3 to 4 weeks, intermittent braking problems with car. After driving about 3 miles from start, stopping at 4 stop signs, passing through 3 traffic lights no problems - driving using cruise control set at 55-65mph, driving up hill, often the engine is accelerating , when I put my foot on the brake because I want to slow down - the brake pedal does not move - I can't push it down on the first try. Until yesterday, the second attempt at braking worked normally 100% of the time. The cruise control does not disengage until the brakes can be engaged. Yesterday I had to try the brake pedal three times before I was able to push the brake pedal down and engage brakes. Have been able to recreate problem several times, the incident yesterday occured when I was trying to recreate. Problem has occured at least 20 times in past weeks. In 2 incidents the pedal initially resisted but I was able to push it down without making a second attempt - driving on a sort of level area. Always happens when the cruise control is engaged, actively controlling speed of car. Never experienced the problem or duplicated when cruise not actively engaged. No problems at interstate speeds 75-80 mph. Never happens in town cruise engaged set to 35-45 mph. Its been happening more and more. Since the incident where it took 3 tries to engage the brakes. No longer using cruise. First visit to dealer not able to determine the problem (after 3 incidents) going back to the dealer's on Jan 2. Drive 66 miles round trip each work day new mexico road with many hills, high altitude above 6,200 ft. Question - next section has a y/n question about oem - don't know what that is. The failure date was Wednesday, December 13, 2006.

VIN of the vehicle was 1FAHP552X1_. Pulsations while braking. When I had about 12000 miles on my 2001 Ford Taurus, the brakes started to pulsate when I applied them. The service dept told me it was normal wear and the disc needed resurfacing. Now with ~29000 miles the problem is reoccuring. I expect longer life out of my brakes. It was March 2, 2004 when this air brake disc issue occurred.

The vehicle involved was a 2004 Ford Freestar. The VIN of this vehicle is 2FMZA52224_. Excessive front brake noise. Sometimes accompanied by a grinding noise. I can not begin to describe how loud this is. It is not even near the level of normal brake squealing. Dealership reports that nothing is wrong with the braking system. There has got to be some type of defect in the workmanship of this braking system and the manufacturer should be held accountable. This has been on going since purchase of vehicle. This air brake disc problem happened on Thursday, December 1, 2005.

The vehicle involved was a 2007 Honda Odyssey. We purchased brand new Odyssey July'07. From date of purchase we noticed the brakes performed below par. The brakes required much force be applied as well as a longer stopping distance be accommodated. At first the dealer commented that our vehicle did not have a problem, however, a test drive showed that if one depressed the brake pedal while the car is at rest it gave way until it eventually made contact with the floor. After this the dealer insisted that I leave with a rental while they looked at the problem, sept '07. They kept the vehicle for two days. Upon returning the vehicle their comments were "we have improved the master cylinder, however, this is temporary and I should allow for a further inspection at my next oil change". The vehicle is still not right. When driving the vehicle in heavy traffic and bad weather it does not inspire confidence, one feels as though one is driving a lemon. Now there is an additional fault. The computer flashes a warning (erratic) "check petrol cap". . . This warning appearing after having covered 320mls with still ample fuel in the tank. No apparent logic can be attached to the reason of the warning. The warning disappears after the engine is turned off, the petrol cap is opened and then closed again and, the engine restarted. It was 09/25/07 when this air brake disc issue occurred.

The vehicle involved was a 2002 Honda Cr-v. The VIN of this vehicle is JHLRD68572_. When backing up and pressing the brakes slightly there is a loud clunk noise. The noise can be heard from outside the vehicle and it appears to come from the front brakes. The vehicle involved is a 2001 Hyundai Sonata. My brakes are squeaking loudly and grinding terribly however every time I go to the dealear for this they can never seem to duplicate the problem. I keep taking in to cover myself for the simple fact that if my front end falls to the ground as the vehicle sounds as if though it will I can have documents from the dealer that never seem to duplicate the problem. What other steps can I take in getting this resolved the dealer has told me that's normal for a Hyundai I love my car other than that I'm paying for a 2001 it should not sound as if I'm driving a hooptie everytime I pull up to a stop sign. This problem occurred on Aug. 1, 2002.

VIN of the vehicle was 1N6AA06B94_. The front end of the Nissan Titan truck shakes extremely violently when the brakes are applied. According to the dealer this is problem on every Nissan Titan and Nissan is aware of it and providing a repair kit of parts, however they are doing it extremely slowly with a terribly insufficient supply of parts for the scope of the problem. It was Tuesday, May. 31, 2005 when this air brake disc issue happened.

I purchased my Nissan Titan in Jan of 2006, and since then have been plagued by repairs and maintenance. The most recent and most annoying has been the front brakes. Over the course of a few weeks, my truck would start to shudder violently when I applied the brakes. Upon having the problem serviced I was told that the front rotors were warped to the point of failure. The entire front brake system was replaced at no cost to me. This air brake disc issue occurred Monday, Jul. 17, 2006.

The car was a 2000 Toyota Tundra. The vehicle identification number (VIN) of this Toyota Tundra is 5TBRT3417Y_. 2000 Tundra was purchased at 47,000 miles. Within 1000 miles, a severe vibration developed whenever the brakes were applied at speeds in excess of 40 miles per hour. As the vibration increased, I noticed a fairly severe increase in braking distance as well. After a near collision, I took the vehicle in for service. The dealer alerted me that there was a problem with brakes on the Tundra, however they simply resurfaced the rotors and informed me that the pads were at 75%. Within 1000 miles, I again developed the same problem. I took the vehicle in again and again the dealer acknowledged the problem, but simply resurfaced the rotors and installed new pads at my expense. The service manager attempted to have Toyota pay to perform the work which was listed in service bulletins # br00302, br00402, however, Toyota refused citing that my truck had in excess of 36,000 miles. The bill for this work was quoted as $1700. It is now 1000 miles since my most recent service, and again the violent shaking and increased stopping distance has returned. The failure date was Nov. 15, 2002.

My 2004 Toyota Tacoma double cab prerunner v6 sr5 has 18,000miles and has had the following problem for a while. I did not notice it until about 2 months after I had purchased the vehicle. Which tells me that the problem could be a progressive issue. The truck continues to show an increase in the problem. Problem description: when driving the Tacoma down the road the Tacoma drives fine. But when approaching an intersection where the vehicle is brought to a complete stop is when the following occurs. The vehicle will shift to the rear and a jerk sound is heard and felt. When releasing the brake on the vehicle you will feel and hear another more intense jerk. When you press on the throttle pedal to move forward from an intersection the vehicle displays yet another jerk. All of these feels as if it is coming from the rear. I took the truck to the dealership for it's regular maintence and questioned the service advisor about this issue. I was told in a very "I don't have time for you manner" it's a Tacoma it will always do that. I can't nor will I accept that answer. It was Wednesday, Jul. 27, 2005 when this air brake disc issue occurred.

The vehicle is a 2000 Volkswagen New Beetle. The car had a crash. While driving on a highway at 65 miles per hour, I attempted to turn the cruise control off. It did not go off. Then I applied the brakes and the brake pedal went all the way to the floor with no tension. There was no braking action at all. I drove along some grassy areas on the side of the highway to slow the car, turned off the ignition because the car was no decelerating, and hit a tree at about 50 mph. The airbags did not go off. The car was totalled. The car was sold to a junk yard because the repair costs were too high and because the repair facility said they could not determine why the cruise control and brakes failed. This problem occurred on Apr. 24, 2007.
