Air Brake Disc Caliper problem is a common vehicle problem that happens to most car brands and models. The following is a sample list of Air Brake Disc Caliper problems reported in most popular vehicles.
The vehicle involved was a 2003 Chevrolet 1500. Upon starting the vehicle and depressing the brakes, the brakes went to the floor. Upon inspection from a mechanic, it was noted that both brake lines were rotted (one was rotted all the way through causing the fluid to leak from the line). We were also told that the gas line and caliper had severe rotting. Upon my research, this seems to be a very common problem with Chevrolet trucks. I hope this will be resolved so additional Chevrolet owners do not have severe accidents due to these issues. My husband and 4 year old son had to walk quite a few miles in 95 degree weather! this is a safety issue and I hope my complaint will help further the investigation. It was Jun. 30, 2012 when this air brake disc caliper issue happened.

The vehicle involved is a 2002 Chevrolet Monte Carlo. Car pulsates when braking. I took car into repair shop and was told before inspection that they had been receiving a lot of service work from the brake systems on the newer Monte Carlos with the 6th generation body style. Upon inspection, it was determined as discussed prior to inspection that the front rotors were warped and the rear rotors are rust pitted. They also reported that the rear caliper was leaking. This air brake disc caliper problem happened on September 29, 2003.

I bought my Dodge Durango in October 2002. I heard a clunking noise & felt like someone hit me from behind when I would stop. Had checked at pontiac dealership where I bought it, they said there were no problems. I saw cbs news story on Durangos and realized that the ball joints may be the issue with my vehicle, it still makes the same clunking noise, and I still feel the vehicle push forward when I am stopping my vehicle. On February 14th of this year, I was driving and lost my brakes, found out that the cylinders were bad. I will put this down as an incident, but the noise is still ongoing, and so far I haven't had an incident & would like to prevent one. This air brake disc caliper issue occurred Feb. 14, 2004.

The vehicle involved was a 1996 Ford Windstar. Please send a report out to consumers, and find out who else is having these brake problems. I went to firestone for a second opinion after 5 times at Ford, the mechanic tells me he sees this often, mainly due to plastic calipers hanging up, they say the calipers are faulty, which cause the pads to get eaten up and rotors to wearout. Ford turned my new rotors 3 times, leaving me, with rotors that after warranty I would have to replace at my cost. Only when I threatned arbitration did they replace them. It was Jan. 1, 1997 when this air brake disc caliper issue happened.

The car involved was a 1998 GMC Sierra. Vehicle identification number (VIN) of the vehicle is 1GTGK24R8W_. Vehicle has been to shop several times. First time: front calipers rebuilt. No change. Second time: front calipers replaced. Rear brake shoes replaced with a type not originally meant for my truck. Entire front suspension removed and jacks installed so that alignment could be performed to specs from some gm engineers that were contacted. Still pulls, but much better. After some time, noticed ds front tire wearing on the outside edge. Third time: informed them of abnormal wear and that truck still pulls under braking. They realigned it and the "GMC area service manager" road tested it ok. It still pulls under braking and now it pulls to the right constantly. I called the owner of the dealership, he has me contact the service manager for a meeting with the GMC area service manager. We take it for a road test. He claims he cannot feel a brake pull, but agrees that it needs aligned. I asked him to replace or repurchase the truck. He would not but offered a 5 year/75k mile warranty. I accepted. Fourth time: front end aligned again. Truck drives normally again, but now it pulls to the right, while braking, worse than ever. I was looking for the lemon law when I found this site. I cannot find any TSB's or recalls on my truck, but I understand that my truck is not the only truck they have found with this problem. So there must be many more out there, why isn't GMC addressing the problem? I hope you can help me with this. Thanks. Meldenton@yahoo. Com.

The brake calipers on my 2002 Acura Rsx (base model) intermittently "seize" and cause the vehicle and steering column to vibrate while the car is in motion, making it difficult to control and apparently causing rotor damage. Since brake problems are a safety issue, the dealership's service department replaced both the calipers and rotors free of charge under the warranty. I was told by the service technician that the manufacturer is aware of the problem but does not know what is causing it. Since the equipment was replaced, the same problem has recurred. This air brake disc caliper problem happened on 02/09/2002.

The vehicle involved was a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee. I started having had brake problems with the vechicle after about 5000 miles. The dealer corrected the problem but it has returned - only more extreme. I was recently driving at highway speeds and attempted to stop and almost lost contol because of the front end shimmy due to rotor warpage. The front end shimmy is not as extreme at lower speeds. I contacted the dealer and was told that the warranty has expired. I have only 20,000 miles on the vechicle. It was Saturday, May 10, 2003 when this air brake disc caliper issue occurred.

The vehicle was a 1999 Lexus Es300. My brakes constantly squeaks. This has been an on-going problem for the last several months. The manufacturer had a factory person come check my brakes last month on 12/12/02 and didn't detect a problem. My brakes are squeaking and I feel there is a problem. I had their loaner same model and different year-the
brakes didn't squeak at all. I would like to get to the bottom of this problem. Can this be a possible defect or malfunction. Is it safe my car to squeak constantly whenever I step on the brakes in any kind of weather. This issue happened on Sunday, September 1, 2002.

The car involved is a 1999 Mercury Cougar. I purchased my Nissan Titan in Jan of 2006, and since then have been plagued by repairs and maintenance. The most recent and most annoying has been the front brakes. Over the course of a few weeks, my truck would start to shudder violently when I applied the brakes. Upon having the problem serviced I was told that the front rotors were warped to the point of failure. The entire front brake system was replaced at no cost to me. The failure date was Monday, July 17, 2006.

Shortly after I purchases a new 201 Subaru Outback (first 500 miles the brake rotors were warped. I was told by the dealere that the car had been sertting a long tiome and the rotors were rusted but it would clear up. It didn't and they turned the rotors and then replaced them stating that it was my driving that cuased the problem. I am still driving the car and the front brakes are defective and have been ever since it was new. Somw of my friends have had the same problem. I feel that the brakes are unsafe and are not as effective as they should be when stopping at freeway speeds. The brakes are noe out of warranty however, I feel that the manufacturer should correct the brake problem. This issue happened on Nov. 30, 2001.

The vehicle is a 2000 Toyota Tundra. The vehicle identification number (VIN) of the car was 5TBRT3417Y_. 2000 Tundra was purchased at 47,000 miles. Within 1000 miles, a severe vibration developed whenever the brakes were applied at speeds in excess of 40 miles per hour. As the vibration increased, I noticed a fairly severe increase in braking distance as well. After a near collision, I took the vehicle in for service. The dealer alerted me that there was a problem with brakes on the Tundra, however they simply resurfaced the rotors and informed me that the pads were at 75%. Within 1000 miles, I again developed the same problem. I took the vehicle in again and again the dealer acknowledged the problem, but simply resurfaced the rotors and installed new pads at my expense. The service manager attempted to have Toyota pay to perform the work which was listed in service bulletins # br00302, br00402, however, Toyota refused citing that my truck had in excess of 36,000 miles. The bill for this work was quoted as $1700. It is now 1000 miles since my most recent service, and again the violent shaking and increased stopping distance has returned. This air brake disc caliper problem happened on Fri., Nov. 15, 2002.

The vehicle was a 2002 Volkswagen Passat. The vehicle's vehicle identification number (VIN) is WVWVD63B32_. Recurrent brake failures. At 10,000 miles, brake life was measured at 12 mm front and 8 mm rear, but then at about 20,000 miles, dealer determined that vehicle needed brake pads all around and rear discs. At 40,000, rear brake pads were replaced. This time dealer found that the rear driver side calipher had stuck, causing the brake pad to wear down to metal on that one side. A large percentage of mileage on the vehicle is highway miles, and driver does not ride the brakes. Owner believes vw tried to hide an inherent brake design problem by replacing all 4 brake pads at 20,000 miles. Vehicle had to be towed to dealer one time due to brake fault & brake fluid warning lights. This problem occurred on Monday, November 10, 2003.
