Air Brake problem is a common vehicle problem that happens to most car brands and models. The following is a sample list of Air Brake problems reported in most popular vehicles.
VIN of the vehicle was 2G1WB5EK1A_. I had purchased a 2010 Chevrolet Impala in July, 2010. The first attempt at repair of the front end vibration was on 10/22/2010. The dealership did not recognize the vibration. The vehicle tires were rotated on 01/26/11 in an attempt to stop the vibration in the front end. The vehicle was taken in on 03/18/11 for front end noise (thump) while turning the wheels. The vehicle was taken in on 07/07/11 for the thumping noise in the front end while turning the wheels. The vehicle was taken in on 07/28/11 for a front end thumping noise when turning the wheels. The vehicle was taken in on 08/16/11 for a front end thumping noise and the dealership notices the tires were wearing slightly cupped on the inside edge. The vehicle was taken in on 09/08/11 for a whining noise from tne engine bay and power steering fluid was flushed. The vehicle was taken in on 04/09/12 for front end thumping noise, wheel bearing, transmission surge, and whine noise from radio. The vehicle was taken in on 06/27/12 for rough idle, tire replacement, transmission. The vehicle was taken in on 07/27/12 for rough idle, transmission surge, thump noise in front end and whine noise in radio. The vehicle was taken in on 10/05/12 for transmission surge, rough idle, thump noise in front end, and whine noise in radio. The outcome at this point is the dealership tried to reprogram the vehicle, gm approved replacement of all four tires, a replacement of the power steering pump, wheel bearing on driver front side. The dealerships have done two throttle body cleanings. The dealership has stated they will replace the rotors but gm would not approve replacement only turning on the rotors. This case has been opend with the better business bureau whom advised me to contact NHTSA. Gm refuses to replace parts because their computer system cannot tell them what is wrong with the vehicle. Gm has recalled the police vehicles for front end suspension and has a lawsuit pending in michigan for personal vehicl. This air brake problem happened on Friday, October 22, 2010.

The vehicle involved was a 2003 Chevrolet 1500. Brakes are soft and brake pedal travels almost to the floor when is pushed requiring a substantial amount of foot pressure to get the vehicle to stop in a timely manner and distance. Vehicle has a new brake master cylinder, new brake pads, new rotors, and new brake fluid. Chevrolet customer service was called and they stated the VIN has not been recalled for service brake failures for the hydro-boost relief valve recall (id # 04v045000) or faulty corroded brake lines. It was 03/01/2012 when this air brake issue occurred.

The VIN of this Town & Country is 2A4RR6DX8A_. Our 2010 Chrysler Town & Country has given us nothing but trouble since it was 3 months old. The transmission shutters in reverse (dealer says "normal"). Transmission failed while on vacation. Would not downshift or upshift properly. Transmission replaced (dealer lied and said it was aminor repair and was "rebuilt", Chrysler zone office said it was a major failure and had been replaced). New transmission has surge/bump shift from 2nd-3rd gear. Dealer and Chrysler engineer said "normal" but reflashed the computer. The brakes have been worse. . . And an ongoing issue. At 3500 miles, they started to make a metal on metal grinding type of noise. I lived with it until the second oil change at around 6000 miles. Front pads were replaced, rotors were turned. 3000 miles later, the noise came back. Brakes were replaced again -- this time front and rear. Dealer and Chrysler accepted no responsibility, yet said they were replaced for "customer satisfaction. " every 3000 miles since, the grinding noise returned and the brakes were replaced. The latest time, the dealer did not replace and said, again, that the grinding noise was normal. Said pads had 90% left and were not "worn enough to warrant replacement. " so I will go back in a couple thousand miles to have them done again? this is a safety issue. Chrysler has given me an extended warranty (that does not cover the brakes) and also offered me $5000 on a new car. . . But this thing has tanked in value so much, I am far more than $5000 upside down in it. All of these things (and loose door hinge bolts, squeaks, rattles, etc) have been described as "normal", yet I have been told that they are only fixing these items to make me happy. Nobody will admit to the fact that there is something very wrong with this car. This problem occurred on Jul. 1, 2010.

The VIN of the car is 3D4GG57V79_. New 2009 Dodge Journey purchased in April 2009. September 2010 I was informed that the front brake pads needed replacement and the front rotors needed resurfacing with only 17000 miles on the car! $250. 00 now today 3/19/2012 I am informed that the rear brake pads need replacement and the rear rotors need resurfacing and the front rotors need to be turned! because Chrysler issued a service bulletin stating the front rotors should not be turned, they should be replaced under the extended warranty (that we barely qualify for because our 3 years is almost up) it is recommended that we just replace the front brake pads again and replace the rotors. Total cost for brake pad/rotor related service #2 $400. 00 with only 28750 miles on the car! so with only 28750 miles on the car both front and rear break pads and rotors have been serviced, the front set twice now!. It was Wednesday, September 1, 2010 when this air brake issue happened.

I own a 2010 Ford Fusion and I have been having problems with the brake pedal going down to the floor. The brakes are soft, and the brake pedal is not operating correctly. I took it to a shop to have the brakes check to see if I needed new brake pads or what the issue was. I was referred to the dealer for possible factory warranty brake condition, stating it has TSB on brake booster switch, brake pedal level switch problem. I have taken my car to the dealer 3 times and they state there is nothing wrong with the brakes, but when driving the vehicle the brakes are not operating correctly. The brake pedal is going down to the floor when braking is not a normal operation, driving this car is dangerous. The brakes feel like a sponge and I fear one day this car is not going to stop, and I have explained this to the mechanic at the dealership as well as the manager in the service department. Well my fear almost came to light when I had to floor the brakes to stop the car while driving on the highway. I have been told by the dealership there is nothing they can do because their is no recall on the brakes and there is no service complaint from Ford. The only action taken by the dealership was to bleed the brakes, which did nothing to solve the problem. At this point I feel I have no recourse but to park the car until I can get another vehicle, because I am afraid to drive it. It was Monday, April 1, 2013 when this air brake issue happened.

There was crash involved with this Ford Flex. 2009 Ford Flex-complete brake failure after sitting for a period of time at high-altitude. Brakes had felt spongy other times but we thought it was due to icy parking lot-as after driving a bit brakes felt ok. This time brakes failed completely resulting in property damage. Car towed to local Ford dealership -- they told us the brakes were fine and there have been no issues with brakes on the Ford Flex--which after researching we know to be false. The brakes still do not feel right upon start-up-brake pedal goes further down before stopping; we now wait a period of time before driving--we are afraid to drive car but don't have the money to purchase a different automobile-and don't want to pass a dangerous car to another family. This problem occurred on Mar. 11, 2012.

The car was a 2007 GMC Yukon. The vehicle's vehicle identification number (VIN) was 1GKFC13017_. When coming to a complete stop, the brakes jerk or a slipping motion after you are at complete stop. We have brought it to the attention to the dealership numerous times and the have just lubed the problem, according their memo that is the procedure, instead of fixing the problem. This is a almost daily basis, it appears to be a problem that GMC doesn't want to spend the money to fix on these vehicles. It was 03/13/10 when this air brake issue occurred.

The car involved was a 2001 GMC Sierra. The abs light comes on and the truck does not make a complete stop. The antilock breaks due not work and truck tends to glide. It does this week after week. I am tired of having my truck diagnosed and they can't find the problem. I have come so close to having several accidents because of this antilock breaks that make my breaks go out. I have to shift the truck to park and turn off completely. The break pedal goes down all the way and emergency break does not work either. This air brake problem happened on 01/22/2011.

Vehicle identification number (VIN) of the vehicle is 19UUA66266_. 2006 Acura Tl with 49000 miles. The brake pedal suddenly became very mushy and had to slam the brake pedal to the floor to stop the car. It did finally. Took it to a local automotive place and they insisted it just need a brake flush. Done. . . The brakes were still not up to standard but better. A week later the brake pedal did the same thing. Again afraid the brakes would not work as pedal on the floor started pumping brakes and coasted to a stop on the shoulder. Started stomping on the pedal and they seemed to gain pressure ,scared to drive it, but did and got it to an Acura dealer. Abs repair - no warranty- $2100. 00 bill to fix. This should have never gone out on a car with 49500 miles. When it does go out . . . It is very dangerous. The failure date was 07/19/2011.

The car is a 2007 Acura Tl. The VIN of this Tl is 19UUA75567_. I have metal on metal noise coming from the left front side. I have been told by the dealer that is the brake pad hitting the disk when going over bumps. I don't find it normal, as it doesn't do it on both sides and I have been owning a 2004 Tl with the same brembo brakes, and I have not experienced this ever before. "it is what it is" does not sound satisfying to me. This problem occurred on Jun. 28, 2010.

The vehicle involved was a 2005 Infiniti Qx56. Brake problems occurring every 50-60 miles while driving. Horrible grinding noise on the brakes is first heard and then there is loss of brake capacity. As this happens, the red brake light illuminates on the dash panel. The only way to regain control of the brakes is to steer the car to the side of the road, turn the car off and then on. Once the car restarts, only then can the breaks fully work. This has nearly caused me three accidents on the highway. This air brake problem happened on Sunday, August 1, 2010.

I purchased my 2010 Lexus Rx 450h in July of 2009. Ever since I bought it, I have noticed that from time to time, when I press the brake pedal, the car seems to surge forward(!) momentarily before it slows down. This happens most frequently when driving over bumpy roads. And it will happen even if I am only coasting and not touching the gas pedal when pressing the brake initially. It happens to me at least once or twice a week. It is somewhat disturbing. I have mentioned this to my Lexus dealer, but they have dismissed my concerns both times I brought it up. I noticed this even before I had heard of the Toyota recall on hybrid prius brakes, but from what I read, the issue sounds similar to the prius hybrid 2010 problems. But there is so far no recall on Lexus 2010 hybrid brakes. Has anyone else noticed this issue?. This issue happened on Tue., Jul. 28, 2009.

The car involved is a 1996 Mazda 626. Crash happened when the problem occurred. Brake failure- purchased used care 6/98, replaced brake pads 10/98, brakes failed 6/8/99 and had to replace brake pads and rotors (front) after accident. Transmission problems- the car began to jump while accelerating from 0-30mph, so I pulled over and parked (7/20/99) and when I put the car in drive it would not go. I had the car towed to a mechanic who told me that I was having transmission problems and advised me to drive the car w/the overdrive off and that is the only way the car moves in drive. I have been having problems with the hearing knocking noises when turning the steering wheel, and my mechanic told me that the rack and pinion needs to be replaced. Please advise me, because these are very expensive repairs for a car that does not even have 70k miles. Does the manafacturer have any responsibility, because it appears that there have been serveral simular complaints. This air brake problem happened on Tuesday, July 20, 1999.

The car involved is a 2003 Mercedes Benz E320. I was driving my 2003 Mercedes Benz e 320 on April 3,2008. All of a sudden a sign appeared on the dash board that brake was disabled and I was unable to control the vehicle without a brake and still it was running. Some how I managed to drive the vehicle to a parking lot on left and stopped it by changing the gear to parking. If it was happening after 10 second it would have collided with other vehicles in high speed in a major intersection and I wouldn't be in the face of the earth today. Later I found out that the brake system of 2003 e 320 was in recall. When I checked with the dealer they said it was replaced before and there is no more warranty. I had to pay $2500 to fix the problem from my pocket. I am so upset about this incident - more than the money - the negligence of Mercedes Benz can risk the life of many people like me driving mercedes 2003 E320 model with faulty brake which break down without any warning while going in high speed. What shall I do in this matter?. This issue happened on Tuesday, Apr. 8, 2008.

2005 - Mercury Mountaineer. This vehicle has what I believe is a braking design flaw. I have bee complaining about this brake in this vehicle form day one as we first thought that the brake rotors had tire dressing on them. This was not the case. It now appears that the brake pedal is designed for the shorter persons, around 5 ft, 2 in. The brake pedal with a person of this size would simply push the brake pedal almost straight down downward towards the ground. A person over 6 ft like myself (6 ft, 6in), cannot push this brake pedal downward in the same fashion as the shorter person. The taller person like myself pushes the brake pedal towards the firewall. This braking energy is not translated properly to the brake pedal, causing following:
the vehicle’s brakes will not to stop the vehicle in a timely manner. The vehicle’s brakes appear drive as if the brake rotates are glazed. The driver of the vehicle leg while driving in city traffic will fatigue quite easily. This makes it even hard to stop the vehicle after you have driven it for a time. Please note that I have contacted my deal where I purchased the vehicle and motor company. They are all agree, that there is a difference between drive sizes in this vehicle. This is not in dispute; the fix or corrective action is in dispute. Ford and the dealer want for me for me to pay over $3,000. 00 in order to upgrade the same vehicle except this one would has the $120. 00 adjustable pedal option. It appears that is option it really needed to be standard in all vehicles of this type. Note per Ford booklets, this adjustable pedal is designed for shorter folks and not taller folks. I am trying to work this out with the dealer as Ford had become deaf to my issue. Note there take is will not assist in any way. What a great car company. It was Feb. 11, 2005 when this air brake issue occurred.

The car was a 2003 Mitsubishi Lancer. Crash was involved with this problem. On Jan. 10, 2011 I was driving my friends 2003 misubishi, Lancer. As we were leaving the doctors office parking lot I attempted to stop at the parking lot exit, a slight incline before a busy street. The brake pedal was firm but the car continued to roll forward. Even though I was pressing the brake as hard as I could I was unable to stop and the front end of the car was smash by a semi truck. My friend and I were unharmed but shaken up. After checking for recalls I can't help but think the brake failure we experience is the same as described in NHTSA campaign #09v077000 for the 2008-2009 model of the Mitsubishi Lancer. The vehicle's vehicle identification number (VIN) was 1N6BA07A26_. I have a 2006 Nissan Titan. I was on vacation with my wife and granddaughter this past week when I noticed the braking on my truck felt wrong. It took much further to stop than it should. It could have caused an accident. I pulled over to a rest area and noticed a burning smell coming from the rear of the vehicle. I checked the fluids and everything looked ok. I went to a garage to have it looked at. The mechanic showed me where the rear axle seals were leaking differential fluid into the brake drums on both rear wheels and spinning fluid into the wheels. They told me I need to get it over to the Nissan dealer to have them look at it. I called Nissan and they told me this is a common issue with Titans. They consider it safe. But they tell me I need to get it fixed right away. The rear brakes have differential fluid leaking into them. Which means I may even have to replace the rear brakes because they are being damaged! they also told me the rear axle could lock up causing more danger and damage. They admit this is a common issue but they will not let the owners know in writing. That is probably because they would rather the owner encure the huge expense of repairing this issue after their warranty has expired. They will not consider this a recall. I will have to spend $3000 to replace the rear axle. I am furious and disapointed that Nissan will not issue a recall on this. While researching this online I see hundreds of post. Why is this not being addressed? it hasn't even been five years yet since I purchased the vehicle. I am only at 85,000 miles. Nissan should be ashamed of their pathetic response and refusal to fix this issue at their expense. This is a saftey issue Nissan! I will never buy a Nissan again if they don't resolve this issue at their expense. This air brake issue occurred Thursday, Jun. 9, 2011.

VIN of the vehicle was JF1GD29622_. On my 2002 Subaru Impreza Wrx sedan whenever I go over a bump or imperfection in the road (no matter how big or small) the abs kicks in and if I hit the brakes directly afterwards the pedal goes to the floor and I have severely weak breaks for 2-3 seconds then they come back. Ive replaced the brake rotors, pads, and brake fluid and the issue still happens. Subaru of America claims it is not a problem but have never had this issue with any other car with abs. Im very familiar with abs and know how it works the problem is after it engages if you brake again 2-3 seconds after it engaged the pedal goes to the floor as if theres only 20% brakeing force. Ive almost been in several accidents due to this one time I was pulling into a parking spot going 5mph and this happened and I almost drifted into a parked car. Please look into this. The vehicle was a 2009 Toyota Matrix. The vehicle had a crash. Investigation results of report#-426903 given 2/12 of unintended acceler: was investigated by spx corp. Investigator hired from Toyota. At my apt. Setting, in my reserved parking spot because car could not be driven due to severe front end damage. I was given a memory stick with edr download info. , telling me Toyota will respond. 22 pdf pages, 19 were bizarre math equations, never to be understood. My event showed when ignition turned on engine at 1600rpm, to 800rpm, as I began to move, then went to 2000rpm, in less then 60 seconds, within a small lane, plunging me into brick wall. Letter from Toyota administrator said no faults were found, sorry cannot be of assistance. In the 3rd paragraph was false info. Extensive test drive done to test brakes, etc. Everything working well. I called his direct # leaving a message in regard to I had serious questions "test drive"? leaving my name & #. He called next day to apologize, "I misstated the test drive", at the service center it was driven a short distance, I said service center? tm- yes!, I said street outside my apt. Door? tm- yes!. Then said parking lot? tm- with hesitation, yes! asked if he was sure of the outcome, yes! next day via fax I wrote to him telling him that he made many misstatements! there is no street by my apt. , car never went to a service center, have lo jack telling me the car was never moved since collision. Which I knew since frame is severely bent, bumper rests on ground, all oil leaked out. If this is how a administrator of Toyota claims responds with outright lies, how many Toyota owners have been deceived. I told him; let's cut to the chase, I want a replacement car that is safe! 2000rpm- that is hwy. Speed, 1600rpm at startup with foot on break, Toyota calls this safe? he never knew the car could not be driven or where it was investigated, am I to trust his response? not at all!. I hit the SUV in front of me then my car (with my foot still on the brake) accelerated forward and hit the SUV again and again before coming to a complete stop. I have had my car into the dealership 3 prior occasions to get the same condition fixed. I bought my car from said dealership, brand new, a little over a year ago. This problem occurred on March 27, 2012.

The car was a 2009 Volkswagen Routan. The VIN of this vehicle is 2V8HW64X79_. Shaking brakes reported to dealership. Rotor repaired under warranty, brakes repaired at our expense. <5000 miles later, same problem - dealership telling us to replace roters and brakes, again. Ironically, the Routan that the dealer used to shuttle me to and from the service station was shaking while braking. . . This air brake problem happened on 06/01/10.

The vehicle having this issue was a 2007 Volkswagen Rabbit. Vehicle identification number (VIN) of the vehicle is WVWAS71K37_. I leased a 07 Rabbit and after about 12k miles my rear brakes started making weird scratching sounds. And it eventually stopped but it came back two months later and I brought it to my dealership (donaldsons vw and Subaru) and they told me that I let my brakes wear out. . Which when I took off the tire and checked there was still more then 50% pad left. I knew this because I had bought new ones and I was going to change it myself. So due to this they said I messed up my rotors were broken too. So I ended up being charged about a 500 dollars to be fixed. Currently, this is happening again to the same part of my car I hear a loud scratching sound and I checked to see my brakes and there is way more then 50% of my padding left. . I've been looking it up online and there is all these complaints about how the emergency brake is not adjusted right on any of the 06-09 model vw's. I feel this is in need of a recall due to the fact that it can do some serious damage to the car. I feel as if when I brake now I have to do it just so slightly or I might break something and end up not being able to stop. This problem occurred on Tue., Jul. 13, 2010.

My 2003 Volvo Xc90 has been to the dealer several times including over 3 times for same problem when I purchased the vehicle in 2006. All recalls have been fixed, front axle, wipers etc. I have purchased 4 sets of tires, tires boston Volvo installed and my 17 year old son received a complete blow out because wrong size tires. I continue taking to same dealer and since owning the car have had the same noises in front of car. Boston Volvo has stated in October and since owning the vehicle can find nothing wrong, April diagnosed with need new drive shaft after having car for 2 days but could not really fine anything but drive shaft. A strong fuel smell stated fuel pump does not need to be corrected. I need new muffler and taking to my own mechanic the real issue is transmission service urgent and need new transmission. Volvo did not diagnose this problem and my son is driving the car! my son is driving a lemon that is a danger to himself. Taking to Volvo does nothing, they cannot even diagnose and give wrong info given to me. I am currently up to over $8,000 in damages and still owe on this lemon. I need new transmission, muffler, still car vibrates and front end noises from whining, thumping etc. It was Apr. 8, 2010 when this air brake issue happened.

We took our 2009 Audi Q7 in to change the headlamp. While there, Audit informed us that the brakes needed to be replaced. We were surprised given that the vehicle had only 25,037 miles on it. Audi informed us that this is a problem they have been having with the Q7 and that the brakes are having a shorter useful life than expected. We did not have any injuries, but we were charged $1,448. 84 for an issue that seems like it should be Audi's problem. But more importantly, we are concerned about others driving Q7's who may not realize that the brakes could fail around 25,000 miles. This problem occurred on Thursday, Feb. 24, 2011.

The car involved is a 2007 BMW 328i. Original warranty expired at 50,000 miles so I began taking my vehicle to a licensed mechanic to do scheduled maintenance. While driving over to the mechanic for a brake change I went to stop and lost usage of my brake. This resulted in me merely rearending the back end of the car in front of me. My mechanic replaced rotors and brake pads; and there was still a problem. So he began to look over my car and found that the vacuum boost pump for my bakes was possibly bad. Once opened in that area he found that the bolt holding the sprocket was broken. Part of the bolt was remaining and the rest is still missing somewhere in my engine. Towed my car because it is not drivable to BMW of riverside to have them look it over and fix the faulty bolt. They refused to fix it because it wants serviced there for one year due to the expired warranty. I called BMW of north America to file a claim to investigate it under a safety issue because BMW of riverside said it was a mechanical issue, but it is truly a safety issue. Susan monjelli from BMW of north America filed my claim and had a engineer look a my vehicle again. She is claiming because I took my car to another mechanic other than BMW that my mechanic must have broken the bolt and that it isn't because it was faulty. My mechanic has never touched this item. He states that the sprockets and the chain are lodged and the only way that this could have happened is when the car is running, not buy him working on it in any way. Also there is a website saying that there is a problem with this particular part in old and new BMW vehicles. It was Sat., Oct. 31, 2009 when this air brake issue occurred.

The vehicle involved was a 2006 BMW 328xi. The vehicle identification number (VIN) is WBAVD13506_. After almost four years of ownership the brake became hard and didn't want to depress upon starting. Since you have to depress the brake to start the car, this created hard starting problems. It seems to be linked to cold weather and a cold car (when the car hasn't been operated for a while). The dealer performed a repair per a technical service bulletin and implied this would fix the problem. When it didn't they first contacted BMW of north America, then told me they couldn't duplicate the problem and this was normal operation for the car. Incredibly insulting. There is some discussion on various internet sites about this issue, so BMW does know about it. Since the brake is involved it is worrisome, even though at the moment it is only a starting issue. The failure date was 01/25/10.

Test drove with technician and brakes still did not work properly even with new pump and other parts they had installed. Have been without car over a month and still not working. The problem is intermittent and only occurs on initial start after sitting for several hours. So far have run over curb at office nearly hitting an oncoming car, almost ran over my grandson when pulling out of garage and almost hit a car in parking lot due to non stopping of vehicle. The brakes are unreliable. There should be a recall on the vehicle. Gm does not seem to be able to repair the problem after over a year. It was Jun. 15, 2009 when this air brake issue occurred.

The vehicle identification number (VIN) is 1G6DM57T66_. My wife and I purchased a 2006 Cadillac Cts with an extended warranty in 2008. Ever since we've had it, we've experienced intermittent braking failure at low speeds while turning. Yesterday this issue caused my wife to bump another vehilcle while parking. This problem is especially dangerous as it only happens occassionally so it catches the driver off guard. We have sent Cadillac a description of the issue in fall of 2010 but they never even responded. We took the car to the dealer and they said that it would be covered under warranty but they cannot replicate the issue. There are forums of people who've had the same issue. We just want the issue fixed as other than that, we like the car. This has even happened at intersections and fotunately there was no one coming. This issue may have already resulted in death or serious injury elsewhere and we would like the manufacturer to acknowledge the issue and correct it before someone else is injured or killed. The failure date was Sunday, Apr. 24, 2011.
