car   Air Brake Disc Pads problem of Chevrolet Trailblazer

The car involved was a 2003 Chevrolet Trailblazer ext. The VIN of the problem Trailblazer is 1GNET16S93_. Without any squealing in the days and weeks before the brake failure, as I would expect from deteriorating brakes, the brakes on my 2003 Trailblazer ext failed. Fortunately, the metal to metal sound heard on Feb. 4, 2005, alerted my wife to call our local chevy service center. At the time of the failure, this car had 29,000 miles on it. Not only did the dealer find the left front brake digging into the rotor surface, but they found the rear brakes worn low and the emergency brake portion of the rotor rotted. At 29,000 miles, total brake overhaul should not occur. Why had the emrgency brake portion of the rotor rotted? when my wife called the 800 number to report this to Chevrolet, lisa koine, chevy's representative, called the dealer to find out what the problem was. After speaking with the service people at brady-stannard in brewsete, NY, she returned our call and told us the brake failure was due to normal wear and tear. Give me a break. Since when do consumers have to pay #1276. 79 for a complete brake overhaul at 29,000 miles? several weeks later, I noticed the left side rotors had rusted. I called the dealer and took the car in for inspection. The dealer stated that this is normal. I question this. I owned an isuzu trooper prior to this car, and the brakes were not replaced until 92,000 miles. What kind of inferior parts is Chevrolet using?. It was February 4, 2005 when this air brake disc pads issue occurred.

The vehicle involved was a 1996 Dodge Intrepid. The VIN of this vehicle was 1B3HD46T9T_. Rack & pinion has been replaced once & same symptoms are occuring again. There is a popping noise in the front when turning. Due to the failure of the steering, we have had to replace tires & struts sooner then normal. Brakes have also been replaced because rotors were bad & brake pads were warped. Rear window glass was removed & a new section between the rear door & back glass was replace while under warranty. The same condition exists again. The back door is very difficult to open due to misalaignment. Dealer refused to provide any service after original warranty. Chrysler corp. Authorized the replacement of rack & pinion, water pump, & rear wheel cylinders at 45450 miles. Due to defects, mainly in the steering, I continue to pay a mechanic to assess the safety of operation of this vehicle. This issue happened on October 30, 1999.

car   Air Brake Disc Pads problem of GMC Sierra

The car involved was a 1997 GMC Sierra. VIN of the vehicle was 2GTEK19R6V_. This truck has worn through 4 sets of front brake pads, including the set on the truck when we purchased it. The original pads were replaced at 8,000 miles. The second set replaced at 15,000 miles. The third set at 23,000 miles. This unacceptable for a vehicle that you've paid nearly $30,000 for! we want GMC forced to repurchase this vehicle. They obviously are unable to fix the problem, and I do not want a vehicle that I am required to replace the brake pads on every 6000 to 8000 miles. GMC has continously told us "to work with the dealer". That has done us no good at all. We want satisfaction from gm!!!. This air brake disc pads problem happened on Jun. 1, 1998.

car   Air Brake Disc Pads problem of Infiniti G35

The vehicle involved was a 2003 Infiniti G35. The vehicle's vehicle identification number (VIN) was JNKCV51E23_. I took in the car for an oil change and service for recalls and the service dept. Notified me that the front brake pads on both sides were almost completely worn out and the rotors would need resurfacing. I purchased the car from the same dealer in April 2002 and the car was built in March 2002. The car presently has 17. 5k miles on it. It is ridiculous, even with performance brakes, for them to fail at such a low mileage. My previous car that I traded in to this dealer was a 1998 320 hp pontiac t/a with an even greater weight and power than this car, and the brakes lasted 40k miles. I believe the brakes Infiniti uses in the G35 should be replaced for free for the duration of the warranty since this is unacceptable. Also, make sure your dealer puts something in writing that they will replace the rotors once they are serviced beyond repair. Don't let the Infiniti service dept. Fool you into thinking the pads should only last 10-20 miles because they are performance brakes. Complain enough and they may issue a recall. This air brake disc pads problem happened on 09/12/03.

car   Air Brake Disc Pads problem of Infiniti G35

The vehicle's vehicle identification number (VIN) is JNKCV51EX3_. I took my Infiniti G35 to sf peninsila Infiniti for crealking sound coming from the brakes. The dealer told me that my front brakes pads need replacement. The dealer also told me that the pads wore out the rotors and the rotors have to be replaced as well. According the dealer measurments, my rotors thickness where 23. 91 mm, so 1. 09 mm was eaten by the pads. I have driven the car mostly on freeway and the brakes have not been abused by any way. That leads me to believe that in harder use the rotors will be compromised. The dealer informed me that most owners must replace brakes and rotors in less than 15000 miles. I submit two issues with the brakes of G35: 1. Safety - the rotors are substandard and can go under safe limit very easy since most customers does not expect extreme early wear. The same point can be made for the pads. It is possible the brake system interacts in unexpected way with vdc and abc so the pads become engaged in certain situations. 2. Warranty coverage - I was charged $510 for front brake pads and new rotors. The Infiniti G35 maintenance and warranty book explicitly list the pads as replaceble items, but does not mention the rotors. The dealer could not point out where in the Infiniti warranty book the rotors are excluded from warranty coverage. Since Infiniti wrote the warranty book, if something is not explicitly excluded from the warranty, it should be covered. The dealer told me that Infiniti specifically pronhibits him from replacing the rotors under warranty. In this case Infiniti dealer overcharged me by $280 by what is the price of new rotors. The premature failure I had makes me to believe that Infiniti G35 has problematic or faulty front brake design that may lead to incidents. Finally, I requested the rotors and the pads in question. The pads have at least 5mm material left, so there is no question that the material of the pads or the rotors are defective. I can provide the pads and the rotors for further investigation. This issue happened on Sep. 29, 2003.

car   Air Brake Disc Pads problem of Jeep Liberty

Bought the 2003 Jeep Liberty brand new in may, 2003. Now a year and seven months later, we still have squealing brakes. The dealer in wichita has replaced the pads 2 or 3 times, and re-surfaced the pads once or twice. They've now decided that they will need to replace the back brakes, including the roters. These parts have been ordered, and we are waiting to have this work done. Additionally, the automatic transmission started downshifting hard from 3rd gear to second gear, and down to first gear. They replaced some parts in the transmission, and this problem appears to be fixed. We'll see! they blamed the rusting brakes to "humidity". . . The car now has only 7,200 miles on it, and has been kept inside the garage every night of it's existence. The dealer claims that all the squealing and rusting of the brakes are due to the "humidity" in the air. We live in the exact middle of the us in kansas. There's not a lot of moisture in the air inside of my attached garage. This brake problem has been ongoing from mid 2003 to the present time in December of 2004. The car only has a little over 7000 miles on it. . . The dealer said that "the problems might go down if we would drive the car more often. " we would not recommend a Jeep Liberty to anyone we like. The failure date was 06/10/2003.

car   Air Brake Disc Pads problem of Mitsubishi Galant

The car involved is a 1999 Mitsubishi Galant. The VIN of this vehicle is 4A3AA46G6X_. My Galant has had wheel vibration problems since I purchased it brand new in 2000. I took it to the dealership a countless number of times to figure out what the problem was. They always told me that it needed to be balanced and that they would replace the rotors, pads and bushings on the front passenger wheel. I still had the wheel vibrations and continued to argue with them about the problem while loosing time at work and spending my weekend mornings and afternoons at the dealership. Every six months I've been taking my car to get the tires balanced and aligned to at least limit the vibrations to a minimum. The car vibrates at highway speeds and has more tire wear on the passenger front tire than on the rest of the car. 68,000 miles and 5 years with only 8 more payments left to go and I feel that I've been mistreated by Mitsubishi after this being my second Mitsubishi car. Due to Mitsubishis' poor service and unwillfulness to help a 2 time buyer of their cars I am no longer loyal to Mitsubishi. I own a 1996 Nissan altima that runs 2 times better than my Galant that I bought brand new in 2000. This air brake disc pads problem happened on Saturday, June 10, 2000.

car   Air Brake Disc Pads problem of Nissan Titan

The vehicle involved is a 2004 Nissan Titan. The vehicle identification number (VIN) is 1N6AA06B04_. Front brake pads, and rotors, are being redone again, at 11700 miles. This was done before at around 7000-800 miles. I am worried, that they will go out again, and that I will have to replace them again in another 10000 miles, and I will then have to pay for them, especially if this is a known problem. Refered to this by chip chidester (sci). This problem occurred on Monday, Jun. 7, 2004.

car   Air Brake Disc Pads problem of Nissan Quest

The vehicle was a 1999 Nissan Quest. The vehicle's vehicle identification number (VIN) was 4N2XN11T6X_. I purchased the vehicle on June 17, 1999 brand new at torrance Nissan. About two weeks later, front brakes started making grinding noise. I was told by both dealer and manufacturer that it was normal since they abandoned abestos from brake pads. I insisted that they changed the pads. They finally agreed and ordered special pads from the factory. Noise went away until last month. They replaced the pads once again and it's ok right now. An engineer from the factory finally admitted that there's a defect in the design and most '99 Quest have that same problem. Driver side mirror vibrates at high speed above 70. Again, engineer from factory stated that is a defect and r&d is trying to resolve it. Driver side sliding door latch comes open after sliding it back and fourth after four times. It has been back to the dealer many times and since yesterday, it's ok. The main problem is the poor gas mileage. We're putting in 87 octane gas recommended in the manual. We've been getting about 13 miles/gallon in the city and about 18 if we drive both freeway and city. The tank takes about 20 gallons and every 16. 5 gallons, we're only getting about 260 miles from the trip reading. Nissan consumer affair first told us that new car will give poor reading since all parts haven't been broken into. We should drive it to 5000 miles. The van is at 5750 miles and mileage has not improved at all. I contacted consumer affair and they told me that I should not be using mobil and arco gas and to get that kind of mileage, I should be putting in 95 octane. If this is the case, then how it's not stated in the owner's manual?. It was Sep. 29, 1999 when this air brake disc pads issue occurred.

car   Air Brake Disc Pads problem of Suzuki Aerio

The car involved is a 2006 Suzuki Aerio. The vehicle identification number (VIN) of this Suzuki Aerio is JS2RC62H56_. I bought this car back in Feb. 2006 with only 1000 miles on it. By December of 2006, I began hearing squeaky noises and this loud annoying sound, when I took it to the dealership I was told that it needed brake pads already, only adding another 1000 miles within those few months. The brakes are special order and cost me 120. 00. I had them put on because the dealership informed me even with my 10 year 100,000 mile warranty, brakes are not covered under it! well in July 2007, the same noise again, I said no wy it couldn't be the brakes, sure enough again the brakes. In least than 1. 5 years I have changed the brakes on this car two times, now my car acts as if the transmission is slipping and I was informed by two mechanics that I need to have a transmission flush because of how black it looks and that is the reason my car is feeling as though it is slipping! I can't understand such a nice car with such a good warranty yet so many problems!. The failure date was Thursday, December 14, 2006.

car   Air Brake Disc Pads problem of Toyota Tundra

The vehicle is a 2000 Toyota Tundra. The VIN of the car is 5TBRT3417Y_. 2000 Tundra was purchased at 47,000 miles. Within 1000 miles, a severe vibration developed whenever the brakes were applied at speeds in excess of 40 miles per hour. As the vibration increased, I noticed a fairly severe increase in braking distance as well. After a near collision, I took the vehicle in for service. The dealer alerted me that there was a problem with brakes on the Tundra, however they simply resurfaced the rotors and informed me that the pads were at 75%. Within 1000 miles, I again developed the same problem. I took the vehicle in again and again the dealer acknowledged the problem, but simply resurfaced the rotors and installed new pads at my expense. The service manager attempted to have Toyota pay to perform the work which was listed in service bulletins # br00302, br00402, however, Toyota refused citing that my truck had in excess of 36,000 miles. The bill for this work was quoted as $1700. It is now 1000 miles since my most recent service, and again the violent shaking and increased stopping distance has returned. Last week with the car at 52275 mile I was again told by vw that my rear brake pads and rotors need to be replaced. I find that 17270 miles is very quick wear for brakes. Vw brake pads and rotors should not have to be replaced every 18,000 miles and if they due then there is a design problem. It was May 5, 2005 when this air brake disc pads issue happened.

car   Air Brake Disc Pads problem of Volkswagen Passat

The vehicle was a 2002 Volkswagen Passat. The vehicle's vehicle identification number (VIN) was WVWVD63B32_. Recurrent brake failures. At 10,000 miles, brake life was measured at 12 mm front and 8 mm rear, but then at about 20,000 miles, dealer determined that vehicle needed brake pads all around and rear discs. At 40,000, rear brake pads were replaced. This time dealer found that the rear driver side calipher had stuck, causing the brake pad to wear down to metal on that one side. A large percentage of mileage on the vehicle is highway miles, and driver does not ride the brakes. Owner believes vw tried to hide an inherent brake design problem by replacing all 4 brake pads at 20,000 miles. Vehicle had to be towed to dealer one time due to brake fault & brake fluid warning lights. The failure date was Monday, November 10, 2003.
