The VIN of this vehicle was 2C8GT64L82_. I own a 2002 Chrysler Town & Country. At approx. 25k mileage, left front strut replaced under warranty. Now out of warranty at 39,000 miles, the sway bar links need to be replaced. Dealer recommends that related bushings be replaced as well because "we've seen a number of them go bad. " other comment that "we've seen the links go earlier than this" indicate to me that there is a systemic problem(s) here. Car has not been driven in extraordinary situations that might cause early failure of such parts. At the age of 55, I have owned many cars and never have I experienced such early failure of steering/suspension parts. How many others have had the same issues with these vehicles?. The failure date was 01/15/2004.

2003 GMC Yukon xl has been experiencing multiple problems with front suspension and steering column since it was new. At approx. 4,000 miles, took to dealer for thumping/popping sound that could be felt in steering column when turning, accelerating, stopping or over a speed bump. Dealer packed intermediate steering shaft with grease. Did not work. Took back to dealer. Dealer replaced intermediate shaft. Nothing more felt in steering column. At approx. 12,500 miles took Yukon back to dealer to remedy popping noise and unusual wear/feathering on inside tread of f. Tires. Dealer could not duplicate noise. Said alignment was off and not covered by warranty. Had to pay for alignment/rotation. Wife took vehicle back when tech. Was available to ride along. Wife was able to get Yukon to duplicate noise with tech. In vehicle. TSB said to remove bolts from cross member, bore bolt holes, lubricate, replace and torque. Didn't get off of the lot before noise returned. Now at 25,000 miles, after more unusual tire wear and the unresolved popping noise, took Yukon back at dealership. Service manager ordered washers as per new TSB for permanent fix of popping noise and is experimenting with alignment tolerances. Just drove 10 feet out of service area parking lot and popping noise is exactly the same. Have to take it back in on Monday 08/08/05 so the service manager can ride along to observe problem. Talked to a front end specialist at work and he indicated that we are experiencing same problems with our 2000 & up g. M. Fleet vehicles. (100+) said gm rep came to inspect, noted the problem and left. Front-end specialist said that there is a defect in gm torsion bar suspension system that is causing most of these problems but gm reps will not acknowledge or remedy. This problem occurred on 12/15/03.

The vehicle having this issue was a 2003 Jeep Wrangler. In July 2005, after hitting a small bump in the highway, I experienced severe shaking of the front end of my 2003 Jeep Wrangler sahara at about 45-50 mph. The shaking stopped after slowing the vehicle to about 30-35 mph. I took the vehicle to the dealer (frank parra Jeep in irving, TX) for investigation and repair. I was informed by the service advisor, john ballard, that this problem occurs frequently in Jeeps and that it was due to the steering dampener. Frank parra replaced the steering dampener. The problem recurred in March 2006 and I again took the vehicle to the dealer. I was informed by the service advisor, timothy simpson, that the stock steering dampener was not strong enough to withstand the load imposed by the 30 in. Wheel group, which comes standard on the sahara model, and that I would need to purchase an upgraded steering dampener, the "rancho" model, but that it was not covered under the daimler Chrysler warranty. We thought we would try the stock steering dampener again. It failed on the drive home from the dealer. I filed a warranty claim with daimler Chrysler and checked to see if there were any safety recalls on the steering dampener. Daimler Chrysler denied my claim and said there were no recalls. The service representative told me that only NHTSA can authorize a recall. It seems that the steering dampener was not designed properly for the loads imposed by the standard wheel configuration and should be upgraded so that it is engineered properly. Although this has not caused any accidents or property damage, it could have an impact on the ability to control the vehicle in heavy traffic on the highway and raises the possibility of catastrophic failure. It should be investigated. This steering linkages issue occurred Mar. 21, 2006.

On my Land Rover Lr3 when I turn the steering wheel hard to the right and left there is a loud crunching noise in the front end. The dealer says its common and due to the steering linkage hitting the stop, however this does not happen on all Lr3's. I'm driving a loaner from the dealer and this on (same model and year) does not make the noise. I've owned nearly 25 vehicles in my life and none have made this noise. It is clearly a problem but Land Rover won't acknowledge it, they should recall these vehicles and fix the problem. It was February 27, 2007 when this steering linkages issue happened.
