Steering problem is a common vehicle problem that happens to most car brands and models. The following is a sample list of Steering problems reported in most popular vehicles.
The car involved is a 2005 Chevrolet Equinox. The vehicle's vehicle identification number (VIN) was 2CNDL23F25_. I today just bought a used 2005 chevy Equinox LS from a dealership in rochester,nh - ( owed car for only 3 hr ) once I pulled out of the driveway I relized that my car might be part of the 2014 recall on (keys) and I had watched the cnn broadcast where thier showed driver who think thier car might be part of the issuse how it might happen in a contraled teat well I did the same thing while the car was in the brakedown lane just outside of the dealership heading home and I tried it with 3 light tug the car stalled I was able to restat the car as I was not going very fast ( only 5 mph) when I got home in my own gragre I tried it aging while in a parked and it happened aging I repeated this 3 more time to ensure it was not a error on my part - I then called the dealership left a message about this as if it can getrepired - under my warrierty I lke to do so as I have on my keyt climbing carbine I use for work as a food deliverly guy I then called gm recall hotline and was bounce around to 3 diffrent women who took my infor and told me my car not part of the recall so I cant get it fixed . . . As of right now but I can leave a message for NHTSA to get a recall on my car started *** 3 little tugs on the ingstion swithch for a 2005 chevery Equinox LS (auto) and the car stalled out - while in park - and going 5 mhp in a breakdown lane. The vehicle is a 2005 Chrysler 300c. After filling up my car with gas the car stalls. This has happened several times after filling up and is a safety concern. The car is a 1999 Chrysler Sebring convertible. The VIN of this Sebring is 3C3EL55H7X_. This car is a death trap and needs to be investigated. Car will lose all power, steering, and brakes while traveling at speeds up to 55mph. This is very dangerous and I almost killed myself because of this issue. I have taken the car to 3 mechanics and they cannot diagnose the problem. Chrysler won't even return my calls regarding the issue, which I've researched and found hundreds of others with this same problem. This is a huge safety hazard and Chrysler should take responsibility for whatever it is that is causing this to happen. I'm wondering if I can take legal action against them. This is absolutely unacceptable. This problem occurred on Sunday, April 27, 2014.

The car involved was a 2012 Dodge Ram 2500. The VIN of the problem Ram 2500 is 3C6TD5CTXC_. I purchased this vehicle from stew hansen ram on April 3, 2014. During the purchase procedure, I was not fully informed of the existing recall n49. It was not until several weeks later when I received an email notice of an oil change being due that I found out about the recall, as it was included in the maintenance notice. I then found out about the parts unavailability. I was very clear when buying the vehicle that I would be towing a travel trailer to CA with it this summer. I believe the dealer was quite remiss in not informing me of the situation prior to the sale. I also believe it should be illegal to sell a recalled vehicle that has not been repaired, especially one with potential loss of steering control. The dealer has been unable to provide a time frame for repair. This steering problem happened on Apr. 3, 2014.

The vehicle involved is a 2010 Ford F-350 sd. The VIN of the problem F-350 is 1FTWW3BR3A_. Since I purchased my truck, used, in 2012, under limited circumstances the truck will go into a violent shake from the front end after hitting rather small bumps. Now that it is older and has about 73000 miles on it, this happens on a daily basis. The vibration starts out very small but quickly escalates until the truck is shaking out of control. It feels like the truck is rolling down the road with square tires in front. It usually lasts at least 5 seconds and only goes away with agressive braking and steering maneuvers. This problem occurred on May 22, 2014.

The vehicle was a 2011 Ford Explorer. While driving approximately 45 mph on local road, power steering gave out and vehicle became extremely difficult to effectively steer and pull off across 2 lanes of traffic onto shoulder. After pulling off to side of road, turned of engine and re-started. Steering came back and was able to return home. Next day, SUV did same thing 2x and added a new error message regarding traction control system fault along with power steering system fault. Ford has a section in their owners manual warning that failure of this system will require additional effort to steer the vehicle, but the dramatic change from power steering to this scenario is startling. My husband reviewed on line and discovered a re-call for the power steering problem had been issued in January. When contacting Ford dealer they stated this recall did not include our car since the recall was only for vehicles that had repairs for this same issue (done in a certain time period). If this issue had happened with a less experienced driver (ie our 17 year old daughter who drives this car frequently) the issue would most likely have caused her to panic and due to diminished maneuverability may lead to an accident. I am surprised the re-call is only for a part that has been installed to make a repair when the underlying problem this repair was being made for has not been addressed. It appears there are several complaints about this same issue. This steering problem happened on May. 21, 2014.

The car involved is a 2008 GMC Acadia. So the window switches don"t work, when I'm trying to open the window it will open but then it won't close back, the steering wheel makes squiking noises and most important the most costly thing to repair was the transmission. We purchased the car used with 53. 000 miles on and after driving another 20. 000 miles the transmission broke I had to pay out of my packet about 4. 000 dollars for the repair I have two small children and when it comes for safety im not sure if we should keep the vehicle. When I'm reading all those recall issues I'm getting worried about my kids safety. This steering issue occurred Tue., Nov. 12, 2013.

The car involved was a 1997 GMC Suburban. The ignition switch started to fail while driving. First the heater fan would quit and the abs light would instantly turn on, and the cruise control would fail to operate. When the abs light would be on the abs would fail to operate. Then suddenly all operations would go back to normal. It would be unpredictable when the heater fan and the abs would fail and come back. Then yesterday, the Suburban started and died 3 seconds after starting. I restarted the Suburban and all seemed good. I put the Suburban in drive and rolled at about 5 mph and the truck died. I stopped and put the Suburban in to park and restarted. Placed it into drive and made it home. When I got home, I turned off the Suburban and tried to restart it. It would crank but not fire the engine. The radio and heater and all other electronics would operate as normal, but the dash lights would not turn on I. E. The "service engine soon", "brake", "air bag", "abs". The ignition switch has failed on it and now sits in my driveway. The failure date was May 21, 2014.

The vehicle was a 2014 Acura Rdx. The power steering jammed up about 11 times during a 1 mile stretch of road - the driving conditions were perfectly normal - traffic and I had to restart the vehicle 11 times! then on the highway it again jammed up and I almost got hit by a truck since I was taking an exit. It was 05/02/2014 when this steering issue occurred.

The vehicle is a 2000 Acura Tl. Car family owned since new and serviced. The front right subframe (rear side of the two parts of the subframe cradle) rotted completely thru (passenger side) leaving hole thru and leaving control arms, steering rack detached. The rest of the frame is rot free, just this one area which is completely rotted away. A google search shows that this is not uncommon with this model Acura Tl and some Honda accords. This steering problem happened on Apr. 21, 2014.

The car involved is a 2007 Honda Odyssey. I bought 2007 Odyssey at 67,000 miles. I purchased a trade-in vehicle from sterling Acura dealer, steering drifts to the right within 3 seconds, I took the van to the dealer 3 times they've switched tire positions, done the alignment still the drift to the right happens. Then they say it's because of road crowing which I totally don't accept. I read through many forums where everyone is pissed-off with this problem. I suppose Honda should fix this problem or part knowledge with the dealer on how to fix it. The failure date was Thursday, May 1, 2014.

The vehicle's vehicle identification number (VIN) was 1HGCP26399_. I have a 2009 Honda Accord and recently noticed a clicking sound in the wheel when I turn either direction. The clicking has become progressively worse. I took the car to the Honda mechanic and they noticed the noise as well but did not know what it was. Since then the clicking continues. This steering issue occurred 05/01/14.

The vehicle was a 2007 Hyundai Sonata. The vehicle identification number (VIN) of this Hyundai Sonata is 5NPET46C97_. This has happened to us on multiple, intermittent occasions. When decelerating while exiting a highway, the steering wheel "sticks" in the straight-ahead position. It becomes very difficult to turn to the right to navigate a highway exit that curves to the right. You have to fight with the wheel and pull hard to make it turn, at which point it feels like the wheel "unlocks" and turns freely again. This is very unsafe. We have had our mechanic inspect it more than once and because the issue is intermittent, they haven't been able to find anything wrong. I've searched online and found several other Hyundai owners telling tales of similar occurances of this problem. It was Wednesday, May. 21, 2014 when this steering issue happened.

The vehicle involved is a 2013 Hyundai Elantra. The night I bought this car I drove home and there was a snow dusting on the road. The car seemed to float all over the road. Whenever I hit a small bump, pot hole, or a seam in the road (no matter how small) the car jerks out of control and swerves dangerously across the road. I thought I had to get used to the steering, but it has been a constant issue. I am very nervous for winter to lose control of the car and get into a serious accident. The failure date was Apr. 15, 2014.

The VIN of the problem M35 is JNKAY01F76_. My 2006 Infiniti M35x drives real jerky darting to the left and right constantly whenever the road is the least bit uneven. I really like my car but the worse the darting gets I am becoming more concerned for my passengers safety as well as my own. After reading some of these reviews I don't think a newer version would be a good idea. This problem occurred on Sat., Jan. 28, 2012.

The vehicle was a 2007 Infiniti Fx35. My 2007 infinity fx-35 steering wheel is stuck in the locked position. Many attempts to get it to unlock has failed. Therefore, I had it towed to the infinity dealership in montgomery, alabama for repairs. I disagree with having to pay over $400 to have what appears to be a factory defect with the ignition switch and steering wheel locking systems. It is my understanding that this is an on-going problem with other infinity fx-35 owners. This steering issue occurred Wednesday, April 17, 2013.

The vehicle was a 2013 Kia Motor Optima. The vehicle's vehicle identification number (VIN) is 5XXGM4A73D_. My 2013 kia Optima lx, which I bought new with only 7 miles, is hard to keep on a straight track at highway speeds. Sight corrections have to be constantly made to the steering wheel to keep the car going in a straight path. This drifting will happen no matter how much the wind blowing or the type of road surface, it is definitely coming from the car. It's been happening since day one, but I chalked it up to the new tires needing to be broken in. Now the car has 12,000 miles and tires have been rotated and the issue is still there. I've driven enough cars to know that this is not normal. Now I find out that many other Optima owners have this same steering issue. Kia/Hyundai corporate needs to come up with a comprehensive solution to this steering issue before someone has an accident. It was Sep. 23, 2013 when this steering issue happened.

The VIN of this vehicle Is JTHBD19272_. I would like to report a problem with my Lexus Is300 models 2002. There Is some type of defect in the frame or front arm bushings that cause excessive wear on the front inner tires. Despite the car being regularly aligned, uneven and excessive tire wear continues to occur on the inner portion of the tires. Tires will sometimes last less than 5,000 miles and have worn down to the steel in the inner sides of the front tires! this Is a common occurrence and complaint among Is 300 owners. As far as I know, there has been no fix from Lexus and will lead to potential blowouts on the freeway due to tire failures. This condition Is unacceptable. Therefore I am requesting an investigation and recall to fix the problem before a fatality occurs due to the resulting tire failure because of the front suspension defect. This steering issue occurred 04/04/06.

The vehicle is a 2012 Lexus Ls460. The vehicle's vehicle identification number (VIN) is JTHGL5EF4C_. The 1st incident occurred in novato, CA making a right turn from the ignacio blvd bridge over 101n to nave dr. After a rain the previous day. When the front of the car slid slightly, the skid control turned the wheels sharply to the left forcing the car into the lane to my left. Fortunately, there was no car in that lane or there would have been an accident. I was able to regain control but Lexus refuses to investigate this issue insisting it must be reproduced by a dealer for them to act. This is impossible as no dealer has facilities to do this. The 2nd incident occurred on a hill at the intersection of willard & parnassus in san francisco on 3/14/14. I had made a u-turn to enter a parking space on willard and was facing downhill. When I put the car in reverse it rapidly rolled forward which is not expected in an automatic. I submitted video evidence of this to Lexus and this problem was reproduced by freeman Lexus in santa rosa which, however, has no way to fix the problem, and Lexus refuses to do so though this, too, could be a safety hazard. This 3rd incident occurred on 4/14/14 when, at woodland market in ross, I put my car in reverse and the rear view camera did not come on. I put it back in park and then back into reverse and the camera still did not come on. I made a video of this and sent it to Lexus and went to Lexus of marin to show them the problem. They would have to take the car but I could not give it to them and explained this would not occur again if the car was turned off and started again - which I showed them to be true. This also could be a hazard but freeman Lexus cannot reproduce this and Lexus absolves itself of any responsibility. Lexus, in fact, tells me if the car works "as designed" based on what the dealer can find they will not fix or investigate the issue even if safety is involved. This violates the Toyota doj agreement. This steering issue occurred 05/06/13.

The car is a 2010 Mazda Tribute. Was driving on large blvd thru town at approx. 45+ mpg, the car all of a sudden quit accelerating, the wrench light came on, all power to car was essentially loss and it began convulsing abruptly as a I maneuvered it off the road to a safe stopping spot. I called aaa and had it towed to dealer. Dealer had the car for 3 days, could never find anything or get it to reproduce what I experienced, so I was charged the $120 diagnostic fee without it being fixed and sent home with my fingers crossed. The car behaved for awhile, but then it started doing it again on and off over the next 6 months. Because of the $120 fee for nothing I had been hesitant to go back until recently when I was on the freeway (a couple of times) and the car did the same thing! luckily I was in the slow lane and could pull over quickly, turn off the car, count to 10 and then start it up again and go. These last few times it was several times a day, so I took it back to the dealer (car is supposedly certified) as of this writing they have had the car again for 3 days, and just now, at the end of the work day have decided it is the throttle body that needs replacing. It is "conveniently" not listed in the "covered components" of the certified warranty. Its going to cost $500+ to get my car back + the cost of the rental car I've had to get because they don't have loaners, just a shuttle, which does me no good on a daily basis. The failure date was Wed., Aug. 14, 2013.

The vehicle is a 2007 Mazda Mazda3. Vehicle was travelling along on 30 mph road with 'stop' sign ahead. As vehicle slowed down to about 15 mph, transmission started to shake, several warning lights came on and off, including oil and power steering, rpm fell very close to 0 (zero) and car died. Vehicle was able to stop at the 'stop' sign. Even though the vehicle was still on, any pressure on the gas pedal did not provide power or input to the transmission, now in 1st gear, to move the car. Car needed to be completely turned off and then turned on before it could move again. This issue has been ongoing for 4 years regardless of speed. The car has also decided to stop providing power while in motion while in moving traffic or on the highway, which could have resulted in multiple car crashes or worse. Mazda refuses to aknoledge that anything is wrong with the car since they "cannot replicate the problem". This issue is sporadic and occurs regardless of speed (usually around 30 mpg or less), weather, distance travelled, amount of time car has been in consistent use, etc. Mazda has even hooked this car up to their computer system and no error code has been found. This issue has been extensiely documented with our local Mazda dealer and paperwork is available for review. This car has been a true lemon since we bought it. It only has roughly 55k miles on it. The failure date was Aug. 20, 2010.

The vehicle having this issue was a 2009 Mercedes Benz C300. The VIN of the problem C300 is WDDGF81X39_. Defective electronic steering lock (esl): hi, my steering lock just went on me as well and was left stranded with no car this past weekend! my 2009 C300 4matic sport has approx. 56,000 miles on it and I am out of warranty. I called mb USA and begged for warranty assistance but was basically told no because as a second owner I did not have the vehicle serviced enough times at the local mb dealership! I guess I haven't spent enough money to date on unwarranted repairs at the local dealership?? after extensive online research I too found that this is a very common problem with the 2008 and 2009 mb C300, and most likely later models as well!. I also found out that the electronic steering lock (esl) failure typically happens right after expiration of the basic warranty. Just like the thousands of mb C300 owners stuck in this situation, I need my vehicle and have no choice but to shell out the money for this repair! (over $1,000). I am scared to death to drive this car anywhere far in fear that another technical/mechanical breakdown will occur. In addition to esl failure, another concern of mine is finding out that electronic ignition system (eis) failure is another common problem with the 08-09 mb C300's. Shame on mercedes for not issuing a recall on the esl & eis issues and sticking it to the consumers. I too plan on contacting my attorney regarding this issue. The car is a 2009 Mercedes Benz C300. My vehicle experienced a failure of its starting and steering lock functions. The underline problem and areas of concern is the frequency of this failure and the dangers associated with having the vehicle immobilized when the associated parts fail. Mercedes benz has not taken any responsibility for this issue yet it can¿t be fixed without dealership intervention. The costs associated with this particular issue besides having your car towed is in the excess of $1,000. 00. In my case I have been quoted &1700. 00! although my particular instance happened when the car was parked, there is no exception that it can occur when the vehicle is motion causing the vehicle to shut off and the steering wheel to lock in any position. The car is a 2007 SAAB 9-7x. When driving the car, at about 50 mph it will begin to feel like the wheels are cutting loose, like you are on gravel. It has also begun to make a howling noise that seems to be coming from the wheels? nobody seems to really be able to pinpoint the problem. We have thought maybe it had to do with traction control. It sent my husband into the ditch though. We're lucky it didn't send him into traffic!. This problem occurred on Sun., Jul. 1, 2012.

The vehicle was a 2002 Saturn Vue. The ignition switch has to be inserted in the door in one position to unlock, then turned over to turn on the ignition, then it is very hard to turn the ignition to the run position, the acc. Position will not work. Sometimes it will not activate the power steering, has to be turned off and restarted to get it to work, if gm has known of this problem since 2001, why did they not recall my specific car which is 2002 Saturn Vue. I was told by gm that this VIN. Was not recalled. The suggested that I take it to gm dealer for diagnostic check, which I have to pay for, but I know the ignition is defective. If this is how they intend to fix the problem, why issue a recall. I can have it repaired but it is going to cost me in excess of 200. 00 I have had 4 different keys cut for it, with none of them will work. You cannot turn the steering wheel when this problem pops up. Maybe this will keep someone else from getting involved in accident. I have given up on gm fixing the problem. I will take it to my local repair shop. It was Sunday, May 4, 2014 when this steering issue occurred.

The car involved was a 2012 Subaru Outback. The vehicle identification number (VIN) is 4S4BRCKC2C_. Steering wheel locked-up while attempting to turn left in an intersection. The light turned green and my wife pulled forward about 10 to 15 feet and began turning the wheel for a left turn. However, the wheel would not budge to the left. She screamed out (to me) that the car would not turn left and we found ourselves perilously in the center of the intersection with cars blowing their horns. She did move the wheel to the right and we sort of circled in the intersection. Following this the car did resume normal steering and the problem did not repeat since. The next day (Monday) the car went to the garage where Subaru said they looked it over completely but could not find a cause or the problem. Despite my concerns they insisted all is well and to return if this occurs again. This problem occurred on 05/11/14.

The car is a 2010 Subaru Outback. Crash happened when the problem occurred. Was driving on what appeared to be a clear, clean road at about 8 am the day after a snowstorm. My car started skidding off to the right side of the highway, when trying to turn wheel towards the left to straighten the car out, the car then started spinning around 360 degrees a few times until the car then rolled over to the left down the 100 foot ditch about 3 or 4 rolls before stopping. The drivers side airbag never deployed despite severe frontal and side damage. The car was totaled by the insurance company. I still have no explanation as to why this all happened. In searching the internet for answers, I found 2 recalls one dated 6/24/2010 which could involve the airbag, and one dated 5/11/2010 which involved the cvt cooler hose leading to a crash. If something failed in the car leading to my crash, I have the right to know. I have some injuries and am still not back to work. Are there any other cases similar to mine?. This problem occurred on Thursday, Feb. 6, 2014.

I was driving my 2008 Suzuki Reno on the road on my way to work when the car started to slow down despite me trying to give it gas, and the check engine light appeared. I pulled over and put the car in park and turned it off for a moment. I turned the car back on and the check engine light remained on. When trying to shift back into drive, my car jolted and an x appeared over the d where the gears are located. Frightened, I turned the car off again and called the dealership, who told me to bring it in. They explained it was the transmission range sensor is going to cost me $200 to replace it because the warranty wont cover it. I highly believe it should be cover or do a recall on it. I give thanks to god I wasn't injured or I injure some one else please take me to consideration. Thank you and god bless you. This steering issue occurred October 21, 2013.

The vehicle involved is a 2000 Volkswagen Passat. I have had my 2000 vw Passat since 2006 and have had only regular wear and tear unitl about 3 weeks ago. I was driving on 95 in fort lauderdale, FL moving at about 65-70 mph when the engine shut off, power steering was gone and pushing brakes took all I had to try and safely steer and come to a complete stop crossing over 5 lanes of traffic to the break-down lane. Once I was completely stopped I was able to turn the key to the off position and restart the vehicle. Aside from the engine, steering and brakes all other functions were or at least seemed to still be working (dash lights, radio, windows) the vehicle did this 4 more times while I attempted to drive to the nearest exit and call for assistance. I tested all the fuses and they all were in working order and the next set of symptoms occurred a week later. I was trying to unlock the car with the remote and there was not connection being made between the key and the car, I manually unlocked the doors and put the key in the ignition. The engine didnt start or even attempt to turn over. All dash lights were on as well as the radio, however, I had lost the power windows, locks, trunk, gas lid and all interior light functions. I currently have the vehicle being looked at and hope to give an update when I find out the issue. This steering issue occurred Sunday, May 4, 2014.

The car involved was a 2010 Audi A4. I bought car used from an Audi dealer, and months later the car rattled and the whole car was shaking when I turned it on in the morning. I turned it off and on again, this stopped the problem. I thought it was probably the weather of around 53 degrees f. Months later it did it again two more times but this time the weather was not cold and I drove an hour earlier. In January of this year, I drove 40 miles and when pulling into my driveway the car turned off on its own. I could not possibly turned it off due to both of my hands were on the steering wheel as I was turning into my driveway. Thanks god I was driving slow because my kids were outside. I checked the key and it was still pushed down. My husband that was also outside noticed what happened, he told me to take the car to the dealer. I had already taken this vehicle for making noise when turning. I took the car to the dealer for the car turning off. Once the dealer was done troubleshooting they say that there's nothing wrong with the car. They could not duplicate the problem. I still have this problem of the engine sometimes shaking the whole car when turning on. And as for my steering I still have the problem, I paid for new tires, alignment, and for tire balance. I really don't have time to keep taking the car to the dealer for them to say that they could not duplicate the problem. It was Jul. 22, 2013 when this steering issue occurred.

The vehicle involved was a 2009 Audi Q5. Vehicle has been well maintained and serviced on schedule at the dealership. There were no warning lights or indications on the dashboard prior to the incident. After the car sat idle all night, on the morning the next day, I tried to to start to car. There was big pop sound. Turned off the engine and restarted after a couple of mins and noticed, message on the dashboard indicating alternator fault. Opened the hood and noticed the serpentine belt has completely fallen off. This resulted in the power steering being completely disabled. Battery stopped charging. Very very luck that this incident happened when the car was idle. The car was impossible to drive as the steering was extremely difficult to turn. Secondly the battery stopped charging. The dealership service has no answer as to what causes this. Especially when the car has been through service just a few months ago. Very concerned if such issues happens on the highway at high speeds. How can a vehicle with such low mileage plus complete maintenance have such issues. Audi has so many inbuilt sensors and yet there was no indication something is wrong. This problem occurred on May. 8, 2014.

The VIN of the car is 1G4GA5ER5C_. On April 23, 2014, my wife and I were running errands in our hometown in our 2012 Buick Lacrosse with eassist. I noticed the car wasn’t going into auto-stop and the steering became “tight”. When we got home, I started to drive the car to the in-town dealership where we bought the car. When I backed the car to the bottom of the driveway, I could not turn the steering wheel. I put the car back up into the driveway and called a tow truck to deliver the car for service. The diagnosis was that the camshaft intake position sensor had failed. This apparently interacted with the electric power steering in such a way as to disable it. While the circumstances of this failure were not serious, it could have been a different story had we been on the highway traveling at 70+ mph. It was Wed., Apr. 23, 2014 when this steering issue occurred.

The vehicle having this issue was a 2004 Cadillac Deville. This car has continually stalled out at different speeds. I was told it was the throttle position sensor so I replaced that. That seemed to fix it temporarily but just yesterday I was driving on the highway and the car completely cut off going 55mph plus. The car completely stalled died out and I had no control over anything. Had this happened in the fast lane with more traffic my death would have been on the news. I want this fixed at no cost to me as this is ludicrous this car has such a defect. I buy a high end luxury car for high end luxury not to be in a pinto type death trap. I want this documented so others also know about this issue as dealer should know about issue and not being able to replicate results is bs as I stated it doesn't happen often but at random times. Car starts up right after the stall but the stall is the horrific issue!. This steering problem happened on Thursday, March 20, 2014.

The vehicle involved is a 2005 Cadillac Cts. Vehicle shutters/hesitates (like the brakes are engaging) and then jerks violently to the right into next lane. "service stability sys" message comes on and then goes off. Cadillac dealer keeps "fixing" it and charging. Problem returns again within days sometimes hours. Internet is loaded with folks with exact same problem and Cadillac says there are no recalls and they can't diagnose the problem unless they can duplicate the issue while a tech is driving it. I am afraid to drive the car. Another driver almost drove up on the curb when he had to pull away from my car moving unexpectently into his lane. All of this information has been shared with the dealer repair department. It was Apr. 15, 2013 when this steering issue happened.

The vehicle involved is a 2014 Jaguar Xk. I bought a new Xk in August. I have to question the rationale for equipping it with high performance tires (virtual racing slicks) in minnesota. On a warm summer day with only a little rain, the tires lose traction frequently. In winter they are downright dangerous. Even with only an inch of snow, the front wheels lose traction in going around a corner at only five miles an hour. The real wheels have so little traction that even with the traction control and stability control systems turned on, the rear end fishtails when turning. Our street is flat and yet, with only a little snow on the road, the car can not move over 2 -3 mph without losing traction so it inches along, if it moves at all. It seems to be the height of stupidity to assume that most drivers would drive over 120 miles and hour more often than they drive in rain or snow. What are the Jaguar marketing people (and NHTSA) thinking? people who can afford to pay $90,000 for a car want something that is safe and they don't drive over 120 mph so don't need or want high performance racing tires that are suitable only for dry pavement. What good does it do to require cars to come equipped with reaction control and stability control when they are allowed to equip a car with tires that totally defeat those systems? you require air bags, center tail lights, etc, in the interest of safety, but allow cars to be sold with dangerous tires unsuitable for the climate they are to be driven in. Shouldn't NHTSA require cars to be equipped with safe tires when they are sold? if someone wants to buy unsafe tires after that, ok; but I should be able to expect a car to be safe under typical driving conditions when I buy it. Rain and snow are typical driving conditions. This problem occurred on Dec. 18, 2013.
