The car is a 2007 Chevrolet Impala. Vehicle identification number (VIN) of the vehicle is 2G1WD58C67_. Traveling eastbound on I-90, low tire pressure warning came on, I pulled over to check my tires and noticed that just the inside of my rear tires were worn down to the belts, however very little wear on the out side of the tire. I visually checked the tire prior to getting on the highway and did not notice any wear. After doing some research, I found this is a common problem with this model. This is definitely a safety issue. This steering wheel issue occurred Sun., Aug. 21, 2011.

car   Steering Wheel problem of Chrysler Town & Country

VIN of the vehicle was 2C8GP54L82_. 2002 Chrysler Town & Country horn the horn on the vehilcles is very difficult to honk, for the lack of a better word. Tapping the horn as a friendly gesture is out of the question - in fact it is disconcerting in that you really have to press hard on it to make it work and when it finally works, it is quite a blast (because of the pressure required). The dealer says that they are all this way (I can't be sure of that)and that they are not allowed to make any changes to the tension or part involved in the problem. No vehicle I have ever owned has even remotely exhibited this problem. The fact is that it becomes a safety issue because one has to consciously think about how hard to press on the horn to produce the desired results. In this case, the only result is a very loud and unfriendly blast. Many thanks, nick 707-785-3440 ts. This steering wheel issue occurred Sunday, Dec. 1, 2002.

car   Steering Wheel problem of Ford Windstar

The vehicle involved is a 2003 Ford Windstar. Our 2003 Ford minivan passed front subframe inspection and "cleaning" on 3/14/2011 when vehicle was in for rear axle recall repairs. It was taken back to the dealership for front subframe recall on 7/11/2011 and recall repairs were made. In addition, other repairs were sold to us after a thorough inspection by mechanic. Nine days later, while driving on the highway, a clunk noise was heard from the front of the vehicle. On 8/1/11, the dealership mechanic found a broken right sway bar due to excessive rust at the subframe attachment. Service manager was told by Ford that this failure is unrelated to the recall issue and that subframe replacement would not be provided by Ford. We then had the Mini van put up on a lift at an independent garage where repair of subframe was observed and pictures were taken of the subframe which was literally separated into sheets of rust under the repair brackets. Any force to put bolts into the repair brackets could easily have hastened the corroded sway bar failure. We were told the Mini van is safe to drive even without repair, however, we have no confidence in that and live in an area where there are lots of small children, joggers and pedestrians. We greatly fear that any further failure in the front end could result in serious injury or death to someone. Vehicle has 84,000 miles. Ford denies any assistance or responsibility for our issue. It was July 20, 2011 when this steering wheel issue occurred.

car   Steering Wheel problem of Honda Civic

The vehicle involved is a 2006 Honda Civic. Vehicle identification number (VIN) of the vehicle is 1HGFA16576_. Brought vehicle to Honda due to loud roaring sound near rear left tire. I thought it was the bearing as there had been a recall and my car was supposedly "ok". Honda calls and wants to charge me almost $800 for 2 new control arms, 2 new rear tires, and an alignment. I do some research and find out there is a TSB: Honda designed the control arms wrong causing premature wear of the tires. The fix is to replace them with newly designed control arms. So, Honda should pay for it considering they designed a defective product. Honda will not pay for it. Essentially, Honda is admitting the product is defective by replacing it with a newly designed product. My purchased an aftermarket warranty from the Honda stealership: they refused to replace the control arms claiming "it is a defect caused by Honda" and the part is not broken. The consumer loses once again and Honda takes the money. This is not the only defective design on this car: the engine block cracks due to improper casting, the cheap visors break: at least Honda extended the warranty on this to 8 years. After that, I guess you're out of luck. This is my 6th Honda. I also have a Honda lawnmower and powerwasher. Honda was the only vehicle I would buy due to their high quality and reliability. They used to build quality products and stand behind them. Now they build garbage at a premium price and refuse to stand behind them. I knew I bought that Hyundai sonata for $4,000 less than an accord. . . The Hyundai has 0 issues and runs great with similar mileage. Sorry Honda: I will be purchasing from a company that stands behind their products instead of company riding off of their name legacy from the 80's and 90's. Check out Hyundai or even dare I say and american car: the quality is much better. This steering wheel issue occurred Thursday, September 1, 2011.

car   Steering Wheel problem of Hyundai Sonata

The car is a 2011 Hyundai Sonata. I have a turbo limited Sonata. It has a severe left pull. If I am driving on a flat surface and let go of the steering wheel, I would be off the road to the left in about 5-6 seconds. If I am accelerating, I would be off the road within 1-2 seconds. It is a real problem. My dealership does not have the specs to fix the issue. I called the next closest dealer and they also do not have a fix. I am constantly assured that Hyundai is working on the issue, but lets face it, it has been over six months. I have lost faith that they are working on a fix. The newly sold 2011 Sonata limited turbos are being sold with the 17" wheels, not the 18" wheels I have. Therefore, it looks as though they are trying to change it to fix the problem. But what about those of us with the 18" wheels? do we have to wait until someone dies before this gets fixed? that is not acceptable to me. There are already over 165 complaints and I hope more are added daily. I am a repeat Hyundai Sonata buyer and very discouraged with the quality of safety in this car. Please investigate the problem and force a recall!. This problem occurred on Monday, November 22, 2010.

car   Steering Wheel problem of Jeep Wrangler

The vehicle having this issue was a 2008 Jeep Wrangler. Driving westbound on m-59 in hartland, mi I hit a very small bump in the road and the Jeep started to shudder very violently. I had to pull over to the side of the road and stop in order for the shudder to go away. After doing much research on the internet, I have now found out that this is called the death wobble and is a highly common problem that Chrysler is aware of and has not done anything to let the public know of the issue. It was Friday, Jun. 10, 2011 when this steering wheel issue happened.

car   Steering Wheel problem of Jeep Patriot

The car involved was a 2008 Jeep Patriot fwd. The car was on the lift for a routine oil change when my mechanic checked the tires to see if I was having any issues with the ball joints. He has another Jeep Patriot in the garage with problem ball joints, that car has just slightly less miles than mine does. He then called me notifying me that ball joints were bad, one he considered dangerously bad and he would not allow me to drive the car home. He has since replaced the severely damaged one, but was unable to replace the other as there were no parts available to do so. This is the second suspension problem I have had with this car. I had to have tie rods replaced at 15000 miles ( covered by warranty). I do not use the vehicle off road and I am rigorous about keeping up with all scheduled maintenance. I spoke with the dealer and was given the run around, so I called Chrysler and am waiting to hear back from them. My mechanic feels that this is something that should absolutely not have to repaired at this stage, given the mileage and the condition of the vehicle. Due to this issue I have some pretty serious wear on tires I just replaced in September of last year. This steering wheel problem happened on July 15, 2011.

car   Steering Wheel problem of Mitsubishi Montero Sport

The vehicle involved was a 2000 Mitsubishi Montero Sport. My montero has had significant problems from day one with repeated/numerous visits to several Mitsubishi dealerships in my area. I have had all of the same complaints I have read from other owners and am very disappointed that I bought this sport utility and have spent thousands of dollars to repair. The montero has had pull to the right as described, a vibration when driving at any speeds, and a horrible performance of braking that has almost caused several accidents that could have resulted in my life and my daughters and countless other families. I have a lifetime purchase plan for alignments which are performed on a bi-weekly basis and I have also gone through 4 sets of brakes. I have also experienced my montero to just die, completely shut off in the middle of traffic- dangerous!! then after about 10 minutes and everyone honking and cursing me out it starts after I restart it. Also, with this comes a fire burning smell that I have been told by various mechanics that I have an oil leak in my engine. I have since taken the montero back and the dealership has repaired a melted gasket in the engine. I have also replaced all my belts and sparkplugs. The sunroof has had it's share of problems of leaking uncontrolallably when it rains and here in florida it has been better to stand in the rain than in my SUV. Now my front reading lights under my rear mirror is leaking buckets of water and the dealership wants to charge me over $500. 00 for a new sunroof after I paid over invoice for this luxury! all of my brake lights in the rear have blown out numerous times to have to replace. This SUV IA the million dollar money pit mistake and do not reccommend anyone to buy! I'm so glad that I am not going crazy and that others have experienced the same and hope to not ever experience my airbags not deploying in an a accident! Mitsubishi will have a huge law suit!!. The failure date was Sep. 30, 2003.

car   Steering Wheel problem of Nissan Versa

The vehicle's vehicle identification number (VIN) was 3N1BC13E09_. Within weeks of my purchase of a 2009 Nissan Versa sl, I noticed, when making right or left turns at slow speeds (5-10 mph), especially going over a bump and when the steering wheel is turned 1- 1 1/2 times (as in going into a driveway) I experience loud clunking and vibrations in wheel, and it can be easily heard coming from the steering column. The clunk is always there at 1 to 1 1/4 turn from the full clockwise stop. I have taken it in the dealership for this problem at least 5 times; they have been unable to fix the problem. Several times, the service writer said he couldn't hear or feel the 'clunk' but the mechanic said he could. The Versa does move around quite a bit at high speeds on the freeway, but I am unsure if that is caused by the above described problem or the light weight of the Versa. The sound and feel of this 'clunk' is very disconcerting, and given the number of complaints I've seen for 3 years about this problem, I'm wondering if the government/automaker are waiting for someone to die before they act. This issue happened on 08/01/2008.

car   Steering Wheel problem of Nissan Titan

The vehicle is a 2006 Nissan Titan. While driving, heard a bang, did not notice any damage at first. Later once the truck was parked at home seen the driver side rear leaf spring was pushed through the bed of the truck. (have pictures, if needed) the part pushed through the metal of the bed as well as the spray on bed liner. Took truck to the local garage, was afraid to drive any further than just a couple miles. The mechanic stated that he could not believe that this happened given the year of the truck. Upon further examination he recommended that the passenger side be replaced as well, before it broke also, he stated that it was very thin metal. The replacement part was purchased at the a dealer and I was told that they have had numerous incidents where this part has broken causing similar damage. Repairs to the truck will also require replacing the truck bed possible. This truck has not been taken off road nor has it been used to haul items, it has a fiberglass bed cover on it. This problem occurred on Mon., Jun. 27, 2011.

car   Steering Wheel problem of SAAB 9-3

Was driving 2004 SAAB 9-3 vehicle when the strut spring broke, and started digging into the tire creating a lot of smoke from burnt rubber. Upon closer inspection it appears that the strut strings had broke on both sides, only the passenger side spring came off of its 'mount' and dug its way into the tire. Nothing was hit to cause this reaction. Upon searching the internet, this seems to be a more common, than not problem with this model of 9-3. SAAB has agreed to extend the warranty to fix the problem, but this is a very serious safety hazard and these springs should be recalled. A significant amount of damage was done to the tire before I stopped. If the vehicle had been traveling any faster, I believe the consequences could have been significantly worse. This problem occurred on Tuesday, May. 10, 2011.

car   Steering Wheel problem of Saturn VUE

The vehicle involved is a 2004 Saturn Vue. While driving the vehicle, the driver heard a loud "pop" from rear of car. After pulling over the driver saw that the top of the right rear wheel was tipped in. The car was towed to an authorized Saturn repair facility. It was determined that the right rear lateral link assembly broke. The mounting bolt broke causing the mounting flange to brake off of the frame. This action also caused the frame to bend. It was necessary to replace the frame, links, control arms and shock absorber. Total cost to me was $1,602. 00 Saturn said they were not responsible and would not pay for any expenses. The driver was traveling at 30 mph, did not hit a pot hole or other object. There was no accident involved, and no one was injured. These are not parts that require periodic maintenance or upkeep. The parts on this car failed. If this failure would have occurred on an interstate road going at a much faster rate of speed, I can't imagine the consequences. Thank you. car   Steering Wheel problem of Subaru Outback

Road conditions: poor, icy. Vehicle: 2009 Subaru Outback wagon loaded with 4 passengers (2 adult, 2 teen, plus "light" luggage). When the vehicle passed over an icy patch, the car swayed from side to side violently. On Subaru forum websites, this type of loss of control is termed "ghost walking" which is an odd but accurate term for the feel of the situation. I have seen multiple entries on the owners' forum websites describing this phenomena, and it apparently affects several model years. My dealer offers to re-align the back tires which may fix the instability problem (which is attributed to "load") but which will cause another problem: excessive tire wear. This is a dangerous situation. As Subaru markets the car for the winter driving market, it needs to fix this dangerous design flaw before someone is killed over compensating for the system-driven fishtailing. Please note: although Subaru attributes this to "loading" of the vehicle, the car was not loaded beyond strictly normal use for a station wagon. This is as dangerous as "sudden acceleration" in Toyota. The failure date was Feb. 21, 2011.

car   Steering Wheel problem of Subaru Outback

2006 Subaru Outback auto trans. On many occasions the vehicle's rear-end side-steps, fishtails or oscillates on icy road conditions. This has also been described as "ghost-walking" where it feels like the awd system in the rear is over compensating, leading to the vehicle being uncontrollable. The behavior seems to happen in the 40-60mph range. You must slow down to unsafe speeds, even for the weather, to maintain control. Other non-awd vehicles driving on the same roads are not having this problem and are able to maintain safe control at higher speeds. It is frightening when other 2wd cars and trucks are passing you going 20mph faster and it's difficult to keep your car on the road or in a straight line. This happens when driving on straight flat roads without braking, accelerating or turning with fairly new all season tires - no more than 15,000 miles on them (regularly rotated). It was Tuesday, November 23, 2010 when this steering wheel issue occurred.

car   Steering Wheel problem of Volvo XC90

The car involved was a 2004 Volvo Xc90. Unsafe front suspension repaired 4 times by Volvo involving district factory technical supervisor and technicians on 3 of four occasions and the vehicle still has serious safety and handling concerns - no one in the family will drive the car. It has also had serious performance related safety issues regarding vehicle electronics virtually shutting the vehicle down in the middle of an interstate. Anti skid problems on multiple occasions. The steering wheel came dangerously loose while driving and the dealership stated that it had never been properly affixed. car   Steering Wheel problem of Volvo XC70

The car is a 2007 Volvo Xc70. While traveling on the highway with 3 family members and our dog in the car this last weekend, there was suddenly a loud bang (sounded like something had hit the car). The road was smooth and weather was good. I pulled over immediately and could see nothing. Cautiously driving the rest of the way home (approx. 15 miles) the car seemed to handle normally although there was a new thudding noise when rolling over small road bumps. My wife took the car to a mechanic yesterday who put it up on a lift and discovered that the right rear coil spring had broken. He advised that this is a serious safety hazard, that we were lucky that a tire wasn't punctured or control lost while driving, and that the car should not be driven until the spring is replaced. This car is used in typical suburban family driving and has been regularly maintained. We do not subject it to heavy loads or use. I am shocked that there was a sudden catastrophic failure of the coil spring. I am filing this complaint because in all my years of driving I have never had such a sudden failure of a key component with potentially deadly consequences. You will have the resources to determine if this was just an isolated random failure or some more general design or manufacturing defect. The failure date was 05/30/11.

VIN of the vehicle was WAUDA34BXX_. My 1999 Audi A6 avant is equipped with the cold weather package. This package includes heated seats and steering wheel. When the driver's seat heater is turned on it activates the steering wheel heater. On 12/13/02 in using this heater the steering wheel became hot enough to burn my hand and began to fill the car with smoke. It melted the foam under the leather cover. If I had not turned off the seat/steering wheel heater I believe the steering wheel would have caught fire. My independent repair shop indicates there is a short in the wheel that will require replacement. I checked an enthusiast internet site (audiworld. Com) and did a search of similar problems. I found several other Audi models had similar problems. Ts. This steering wheel problem happened on December 13, 2002.

car   Steering Wheel problem of BMW Z3

The VIN of this vehicle is 4USCH7321W_. I purchased a used 1998 BMW Z3 with the 1. 9 liter engine on 10/14/2010 with 90564 miles. In mid November I took the car to a mechanic for a check engine light which was serviced. The mechanic informs me there is a problem with Z3's along with other model BMW's with the way the rear differential is attached. The problem seems to be flexing in the sheet metal where the differential is attached causing failure of the spot welds holding the whole assembly together. He showed me in my trunk where two of the six spot welds had broken. I have researched this on the different BMW forums and BMW is claiming this failure is due to performance modifications or cars that have been taken to a track or autocross. I do not know the previous history of my car but it appeared to have been taken care of. On 6/30/2011 I had the car in the shop again for service work and my mechanic found two more broken welds and some separation in the rear chassis. This car is pretty much un-drivable now due to this condition. I understand there is a couple of companies that make a repair kit for this that will strengthen the trunk area and prevent this from happening again. This problem occurred on 07/01/2011.

The vehicle was a 1998 Buick Riviera. The vehicle identification number (VIN) is 1G4GD2214W_. Steering wheel has developed a very significant "wobble" which exists regardless of what tilt position it is in. The wobble is diagonal, from northeast to southwest in direction, and the apparent pivot point of the wobble is just behind instrument panel level. Had car at dealer for other work, and they commented on it too. Did not call it a safety issue though. . . Wanted $120 to fix it. I declined at the time, since they didn't think there was a safety concern. I would tend to differ with their opinion though, and feel they should repair this at no charge due to it being the steering mechanism involved. I've heard this complaint from many other 95-99 Riviera owners, and it seems to be epidemic among these cars. This problem occurred on 10/02/07.

car   Steering Wheel problem of Cadillac Escalade

The VIN of the problem Escalade is 1GYFK63867_. Approximately 2 weeks (03/18/11) prior to repairs the front of the vehicle 2007 Cadillac Escalade had a "shaking noise" the slower you drove the more noise it made. We took the vehicle to the dealership who quoted $1,000 for repairs. At the time we dropped it off the service manager made us aware that there was a "bulletin from general motors " about the problem that it was "normal wear and tear and they would not issue a recall. " it was found by the dealership that the front jounce bumpers and front struts and mounts needed to be replaced. I contacted gm service line while it was still in the shop and had to pay for the repairs in order to have the vehicle to drive. I had numerous phone calls to gm and they stated "normal wear and tear" and your 50,000 bumper to bumper warranty does not cover it since it had 62,926 miles on it. I requested a district supervisor review and the outcome was the same. We have had Cadillacs for 25+ years and some with 200,000+ miles on them and never had this type of problem and treatment from anyone. We received no satisfaction or consideration about our problem from gm except for them to repeatedly state "normal wear and tear. ". This issue happened on Friday, March 18, 2011.
