car   Steering Wheel Vibrate problem of Chevrolet Malibu

The vehicle having this issue was a 2006 Chevrolet Malibu maxx. This happened literally at the end of a 7 hour car trip- we got lucky. Driving on I-75 south and approaching exit. Begin to slow down and enter exit ramp. Steering wheel starts shaking profusely and immediately becomes extremely hard to move to either side. Panicking, I managed to control the car and slow it down to a very slow speed and put the hazard lights on, and slowly merge into a gas station that was, luckily, right next to the exit ramp. This was extremely scary, unexpected, and could have killed us if we were going the full highway speed and were not exiting on a ramp. This steering wheel vibrate problem happened on 07/10/13.

car   Steering Wheel Vibrate problem of Chevrolet HHR

The car is a 2007 Chevrolet Hhr. The VIN of this Hhr is 3GNDA23D87_. 2013, when applying breaks on grade steering wheel violenty shaking. June 2013 if applying full breaks, steering wheel would also pull. Could not control vechile with shaking and pulling. Drove ith hazards in slow lane at lesser speeds. Very bad situation. This siuation occured again this year (2014 may) while again on a grade. The shaking is voilent it very difficult to control the vechile. Drove with hazard again in slow lane. . This is very dangerous and worse when turning. Good wayto kill yourself and others. I was at the dealer havign my ignition replaced and they said its normal and the rotors shoudl be turned. I explain that the car was barely controllable. No standard rotor problem should make a car shake and pull that violently. These cars should be taken off the road. They are also no very compitent in windy conditions. I live in a mild climate zone and have driven many vechiles and my fisrt winter in the card was very very uncomfortable. That and the windows being copped are a huge visibilty issue. A design like this should have never been approve. Add to that poor parts to save money and these are just not safe. Not safe to those that own them or others. Also front end has ongoing front end suspension problem. I had perviosu issues with the radiator and guard that shoudl have been installed by the dealer but was not. As well as fauly door handles. Reapir bu dealer but now the door leaks. These are samll things compared to the othes. I would like the drvign commision to do the right thing and have the company buy these cars back. . I appreciate the new iginition but that does not hing to help the breaking issues they call normal. This steering wheel vibrate problem happened on Thursday, Jun. 13, 2013.

car   Steering Wheel Vibrate problem of Chrysler 300

The vehicle's vehicle identification number (VIN) is 2C3LA43R47_. My steering went out in my 2007 Chrysler 300. I was traveling south on I-5 near exit 165a. I was in the fast lane going 65 mph at 2:45pm when I suddenly lost control of my vehicle and I could no longer steer the vehicle. I came to a stop but while doing so my right front wheel jack knifed and caused the steering wheel to shake violently. It was all I could do to just keep the vehicle going straight as I came to a stop. I had to leave my vehicle mostly in the fast lane since I could not steer it and there was no shoulder to pull over onto. I had to jump over on open spot that I could see 40 feet below me on I-5 to get to a quieter area to make my phone calls for emergency help. The vehicle was towed to the local Chrysler dealership. The service writer had no time so I did and found a broken heavy duty ball joint that connects to my front right wheel. It had sheered in the middle and caused my steering to go out and damaged my abs braking and the brake shield plate along with scraping the inside of my right front wheel. I then called Chrysler corporate at there hotline and was asking about a recall or warranty help. I went to the parts counter and talked with them and they said this happens regularly and we keep a supply of ball joints on hand because of this. I purchased the ball joint for my vehicle. I asked how much to install the part and if there was a warranty on there work. He said for 12 months they would warranty the part if they installed it. They found more steering problems with the vehicle. They replaced the left ball joint since they saw it going out along with the left and right tie rods because they were loose along with abs parts that were ruined. I was told that the local police drive Dodge chargers that have the same steering as a Chrysler 300 and they are replacing ball joints on those vehicles regularly along with the Chrysler 300. It was Thursday, September 12, 2013 when this steering wheel vibrate issue happened.

car   Steering Wheel Vibrate problem of Dodge Charger

The vehicle having this issue was a 2006 Dodge Charger. Had my vehicle in for routine maintenance. I have been noticing clunking from the steering wheel and shaking problems at highway speeds. Dealer inspected car and found left and right ball joints cracked and broken power steering line, along with a broken tie rod on the left side. I find this very difficult to digest as the car doesn't even have 25,000 miles on it, it is never driven in snow, and is constantly in my garage. This car is driven on average of 4,000 miles a year, and mainly on the interstate when it is driven. Now I am facing a 1500. 00 repair bill to replace these parts. After doing some research, I have found others have needed to do this same repair numerous times on their vehicles as well. I think Chrysler should step forward and admit that these parts are defective. There aren't even any lubrication zerks to help prevent future issues with this. Now that spring is here I wanted to get the car ready for summer, now we are afraid to drive it until it gets fixed, but according to what I have found, I can expect to have this done again in another 25,000 miles. I don't think this is right. The failure date was Wednesday, April 2, 2014.

car   Steering Wheel Vibrate problem of Dodge Journey

I am currently the owner 2010 Dodge Journey awd. I have had to replace tires, brakes, and rotors numerous times; noise from driver door, windows rolling down and doors unlocking by themselves, hard shifting in automatic transmission, car pulsates/steering wheel vibrates violently when braking starting at about 40 mph. I have frequent problems with the locks and alarm when temperatures drop below 40 f, car does not always lock or unlock using either key fob or by pressing button in car, must press it multiple times. Lock mechanism could be heard attempting to turn, lock next to window appeared to be jumping slightly. I have been having problems with my car not starting for several months. I would have to take the key fob out, turn it around, and insert it again. It shut off on me as I was driving 65mph on a main highway. . Almost causing a crash. Ran a diagnostic and it came back that my module was bad, I checked online and it seems there was a recall on this module but only for the "ring. " I contacted the Chrysler and after two weeks of going back and forth with them and the dealership, they informed me they would not help due to high mileage and out of warranty. We are told only dealerships can get this part, install it, and program it. My google searches on this issue shows way too many results for this not to be a serious issue that Chrysler refuses to take responsibility for. A recall needs to be done on this part as well with all of the 2010 Dodge Journey's not just the ones from a certain plant. Once I turn off the car, you can hear the computer shutting itself down and making all kinds of noise, then it appears to reboot, the radio will turn on and stays on for five min. The automatic starter starts on it's own once you shake the key fob. . No need to press the button anymore?! khumo tires on this vehicle have been replaced twice in one year. It was Wed., Jul. 31, 2013 when this steering wheel vibrate issue occurred.

car   Steering Wheel Vibrate problem of Ford Escape

The vehicle is a 2008 Ford Escape. As I was driving, I was about to make a turn and that's when I lost power to my steering wheel. The wheel was very difficult to turn. I stopped my vehicle, shut if off, and restarted. It began to go back to normal but the steering wheel is shaking on it's own. Ever since the first incident, off and on, the steering wheel will have no power. Today, I almost crashed while making a left hand turn. It took all of my strength to make sure I didn't hit the median. I was coming to a stop to make my turn and it went out right then and there. After leaving work today again it failed. I was only backing out when I lost power. I already got in touch with Ford and they did say it's a known issue but not a recall. This steering wheel vibrate issue occurred 03/29/2014.

As time went on this got worse, having to resart several times and now once power steering works it will go off anytime even just drivingstraight on the highway. car   Steering Wheel Vibrate problem of Acura TL

I have owned this 2004 Acura Tl since Jan. 2004. It has been at the dealership on at least 4 occasions due to a significant vibration. The vibration is most noticeable at about 60 mph. One can feel and see the steering wheel vibrate. The dealership replaced the tires (at no charge) with less than 20,000 miles due to premature wear. However, the vibration problem has never been corrected. In reviewing web sites it appears the vibration problem I am having is not an isolated incident, but one common to many Acura Tl owners. It seems that Honda has an obligation to identify and correct the problem. This steering wheel vibrate problem happened on Jul. 20, 2005.

car   Steering Wheel Vibrate problem of Honda Odyssey

car   Steering Wheel Vibrate problem of Honda Odyssey

The vehicle was a 2006 Honda Odyssey. The power steering pump in our Odyssey started making a loud squealing noise, and at some later time, the steering wheel began to vibrate. The steering pump noise was intermittent, and occurred at low and idle speeds only. There was never a loss of steering capability, but the shimmy in the steering wheel leads to driver discomfort and driver fatigue. Honda has since replaced the power steering pump at a reduced cost to us, but the new pump has not solved the steering wheel shimmy. The shimmy is very similar to the effects of a bent wheel or a out of balance tire, but different wheels and different tires, in addition to multiple tire re-balances have failed to correct the problem. The steering shimmy occurs only at speeds above approximately 62 mph, and seems to occur after about 70 - 100 miles of driving. Within this driving scenario, the shimmy can get very bad, and then at times completely disappear. But for most of the time, the shimmy is present. At speeds below 55 mph, the vehicle behaves very well. I'm not sure if this problem is unique to my vehicle, or if others have experienced the same issues. If it is generic to the vehicle design, then Honda needs to provide Odyssey owners with an economical solution. Should the problem persist, I will have not choice but to sell the vehicle because, aside form the potential safety issues, it does not provide the driving comfort that we need. This problem occurred on Tuesday, March 26, 2013.

car   Steering Wheel Vibrate problem of Kia Motor Sedona

The vehicle was a 2006 Kia Motor Sedona. As my wife was making a right-hand turn into a parking lot at approximately 5-10 mph, the van lurched left and shook violently. After checking for flat tires and finding none, she attempted to continue driving but the steering wheel was shaking to much to drive any further. After having the van towed to the service center and checked out, we were told that the left front control arm had rusted through and failed. I cringe at the thought of what could have happened at highway speed, as we were supposed to has been on the interstate at that time, but changed our plans at the last minute. This van had its annual nh state safety inspection at the beginning of August and was given a clean bill of health. The shop that did the inspection and the shop that is doing the repair both told us that unless they actually see a crack, there is no way for them to tell if the part is compromised or not. As someone who has been working with metal for 30 years, I find this hard to believe. Lastly, I have noted six complaints reported here for the same problem in just the last seven months. It is my opinion that it is time for a thorough investigation and recall before there is a serious or (heaven forbid) fatal accident resulting from a control arm failure. It was Sep. 29, 2013 when this steering wheel vibrate issue occurred.

About 8-9 months ago, I noticed that at certain speeds, my steering wheel will shake back and forth, or shimmy, sometimes somewhat violently. I have taken it to aristocrat motors, the only service center in my area for Land Rovers, and have described the problem three times. The first time they said they checked the tires and they were fine. That was it. The second time, I called and asked why it was doing it, and was told by the service manager that that's just what Land Rovers do and there was nothing they could do about it. The third time, I was told the wheels aren't unbalanced and that's the last they said about it. I have a fourth appointment to take it in for the same problem and expect them to fix it or I feel they should be held liable if it breaks later after the warranty has expired. car   Steering Wheel Vibrate problem of Nissan Murano

The car involved is a 2005 Nissan Murano. At approximately 65 mph steering wheel would shake as an out of balance condition. I had the tires rebalanced and could not resolve the steering wheel shaking. Did not do any highway driving for a long period of time. Prior to going on vacation I had tires rebalanced, during the highway driving the steering wheel shaking was again visible and could also be felt in the steering wheel. Lower control arm was replaced with no resolve of the shaking steering wheel. Tire dealer replaced tires at a cost to me of $400. 00. Back to car dealership, replaced tire rod end that could be the cause of the problem on the drive home steering wheel shaking at highway speed of 65 mph. Back to dealership who had two different mechanics test drive the car and they said that they could not replicate the shaking, they must have held on to the steering wheel with a gorilla grip. I have a short video of this shaking steering wheel. Wife and I went to test drive a newer used 2009 Nissan Murano with the same approximate mileage, my car now at 88,000, same visible shaking if not worse. Solved problem by trading in the car. Now maybe the dealership will fix the problem at their expense, not mine. This issue happened on Sunday, Jun. 16, 2013.

car   Steering Wheel Vibrate problem of Saturn ION

The vehicle involved is a 2005 Saturn Ion. There was crash involved with this problem. I was attempting to change lines on MD I-97 north bound from the slow right lane to the fast lane left lane. When a car in the fast lane speed up which never allowed me to change lanes, I continued to travel in the same slow right lane. Within 1 minute after that action of the attempted lane change, I experienced the steering wheel shaking erratically and trying to pull to the right. Although the car was going straight, the steering wheel kept pulling to the right. Eventually, the car started fishing tailing or swerving. When I tried to slow the car down, the sensitivity of the steering wheel over compensated for the minor turning of the steering wheel and basically took over the steering from me. This action of the car placed me into a position in which I could not fully recover on my own and made the car spin out of control facing the opposite direction and subsequently y causing an head-on collision. The failure date was Mon., Aug. 29, 2005.

car   Steering Wheel Vibrate problem of Subaru Legacy

The car was a 2012 Subaru Legacy. Vehicle vibrates and pulsates every time you apply the brakes while driving at speeds above 50 mph- vibrations are felt throughout the vehicle and the steering wheel. On March 11th; Subaru dealership technicians took a look at the problem and drove the vehicle and confirmed the steering wheel vibrations while braking on speeds above 50 mph, they also found all brakes at 7mm and front rotors with added material to it measuring above 0. 0008" - technicians recommended a simple resurface of rotors (charged at owners expense) or to wait until the condition worsen ??? (affecting other suspension, steering or brakes components) in order to repair the vehicle using the warranty. Currently my car has 22,345 and it already continues to pulsate every time I apply the brakes at speeds well above 50 mph. Nothing was say about the brake pads conditions or quality. I did noted on many Subaru forums online that many Subaru owners have experience this issue but it seems that no one has reported such issues to the NHTSA. It was March 9, 2014 when this steering wheel vibrate issue occurred.

car   Steering Wheel Vibrate problem of Subaru Outback

Subaru Outback steering wheel shimmy and vibration. I purchased my 2010 Subaru Outback new in October of 2010. After driving the vehicle home and spending a few miles getting used to the feel and sensation of a new car, I noticed that the ride of the car was somewhat unsettled, vibrating and shaking at highway speed. I initially attributed this to the new tires and slightly overly inflated tire pressure. I precisely adjusted the tire pressure and spent the next few months waiting for the tires to "settle in" and smooth out. My wife started driving the car regularly and did not mention any issue about the ride. I drove the car several times afterwards and on each trip found the car very very uncomfortable to drive. The ride is noticeable leaving the driveway but is most apparent at highway speed, most especially in low power situations like coasting down descents at greater than 60mph. The steering wheel shakes dramatically in this situation. Thinking that the cause of the shaking was the oem tires, I removed the conti contisport tires and replaced them with michelin defender xt's from costco. Almost immediately, I noticed that the tires were no smoother than the oem's. I had costco remove and rebalance the tires. The steering wheel shake and vibration remained even after the rebalance. I was about to return the car to costco when I found the link on the Subaru forum about "shaky Subarus" and that the problem was so widespread that a technical service bulletin (TSB) had been issued about the problem, mandating that major modifications be made to the car. I have not been notified by soa about the TSB. The failure date was Mon., Nov. 1, 2010.

car   Steering Wheel Vibrate problem of Toyota Fj Cruiser

The vehicle involved is a 2012 Toyota Fj Cruiser. As Toyota and many, many Fj Cruiser owners are well-aware, there is a steering vibration issue that occurs somewhere in the 55-65 mph range that causes the steering wheel to shake back and forth pretty violently. As one of the previous complaints stated, there is a very active community of Fj Cruiser owners on internet forums that also have this problem. . . But I don't think they're aware of this complaint process or have the time to do it, or something. I'm using after-market wheels and tires that were professionally installed by very competent people, so I'm very confident it's not an issue with my wheels or tires. I would like to echo other complaints and say that the vehicle needs to be recalled and fixed. This steering wheel vibrate problem happened on Monday, July 2, 2012.

car   Steering Wheel Vibrate problem of Toyota Prius

The vehicle involved was a 2003 Toyota Prius. Vehicle identification number (VIN): JT2BK18U63_. Violent shaking of the steering wheel when turning in cold weather. It has happened most days this winter when temperatures were below 45f degrees. It was mostly an annoyance at first, and would happen when starting the car, but twice it has nearly caused a crash. The first near collision from shaking was in January when trying to park between two cars in a parking spot and I couldn't control the wheel until I put threw the car into park, turned it off, and turned it on again. The second, and most serious incident so far I nearly hit a pedestrian in a crosswalk while trying to make a right turn in downtown seattle on a day when it was in the 20's. Turning right the steering wheel started shaking so violently it broke free from my grip, I lost control of the car and it veered left into the oncoming lane towards a pedestrian. I slammed on the brakes and only missed him by about 3 feet. I contacted Toyota and was informed that there had been a 2 year service campaign to replace the eps, but that the campaign expired 12/31/13, and they were therefore unable to do a replacement because I didn't bring the car into the dealership before the deadline, and they don't see it as a safety issue. We were never contacted by Toyota about the service campaign, and the issue did not become dangerous or even particularly bothersome until nearly a month after the campaign expired. Due to this nearly causing two accidents in a short time span just past the campaign deadline, and the fact that it seems to be a common problem on this model of Prius, I believe this should be escalated to a general recall or extended warranty based also on mileage instead of solely on the calendar year to not penalize lower mileage vehicles coming into the problem beyond the expiration of the class action lawsuit mandated service campaign. It was February 5, 2014 when this steering wheel vibrate issue occurred.

car   Steering Wheel Vibrate problem of Volkswagen Routan

The car involved is a 2011 Volkswagen Routan. The vw Routan recently when I got from the deleship I notice that everytime that I would apply the brakes while driving on the freeway then entire van would vibrate and the steering wheel would vibrate even more I did some research and I found that I wasn't the only Routan owner having brake problems so it looks like the brake rottors are over heating that then caused the rottors to warped!!! so I took the car to the vw dealership and they had to replace all four rottors and brake pads!! but before replacing them they keep telling me that it was driver error. So now a year and half after the vw dealership fix the problem the car needs all new brake rottors and pads again due to the over heating that caused the rottors to warped and now they won't fix the problem again because the warranty expired;. This problem occurred on Monday, November 5, 2012.

car   Steering Wheel Vibrate problem of Volkswagen Touareg

The car involved was a 2013 Volkswagen Touareg. Vehicle identification number (VIN) of the vehicle is WVGEP9BP6D_. Vehicle exhibits a steering wheel shake that consistently occurs above 60mph on all road surfaces. At onset, can feel oscillation in hands and arms. With hands lightly on wheel or removed, can visually confirm steering wheel oscillation (cyclical rotation from l to r and back) with about 3/8" total travel at steering wheel perimeter. Cabin also exhibits slight vibration which can be felt in seat. Car does not track well in lane and consistently pulls to the right. Vw is aware of problem and addresses it in TSB 44-13-01 from June 2013. Repeated application of the remedies in the TSB have failed to remedy the problem. Substitution of all four wheels and tires from another Touareg that does not exhibit this problem fails to remedy the problem, suggesting that the problem is not the wheels/tires. Issue persists with no remedy to date. This steering wheel vibrate issue occurred Mon., Jul. 29, 2013.

car   Steering Wheel Vibrate problem of Volvo XC70

The vehicle was a 2004 Volvo Xc70. The vehicle identification number (VIN) of this Volvo Xc70 is YV1NC63D04_. Since the purchase in August 2003, my c70 convertible has turning problems and I can't safely make a u-turn in traffic or park in a parking space. The wheel turns only to a certain point and then stops. The incompetent Volvo service dept. Has said that I need my "stops" adjusted - why would they be there in the first place? I bring the car in for service and they do some meaningless service and the steering is temporarily fixed for a short period of time. When I brought it in to service another time, they told me my tires were the wrong size - it's the tires that Volvo put on the car, not me. The steering wheel shakes significantly between 30-45 mph and, again, they told me it's the tires. The auto-dim mirror does not dim since I leased the vehicle and Volvo service told me that it only works when headlights from oncoming traffic hits the sensor. What???? I have literally been blinded by traffic behind me that I pull over to the side of the road until they pass. The mirror does not work and is causing me not to drive at night for my own safety. Volvo has produced an unsafe vehicle and will not take responsibility for it. I take my life in my hands every time I get into the vehicle. I know other Volvo owners that are experiencing the steering wheel shaking problem and they are not getting satisfaction. I have also talked other people and advised them not to lease or purchase this c70 convertible. My car is 18 months old and I have only 12000 miles on it because I am frightened to drive it. This steering wheel vibrate issue occurred Aug. 26, 2004.

car   Steering Wheel Vibrate problem of Jaguar S-type

The vehicle involved was a 2001 Jaguar S-type. When I bought the car a week later it blew hot air, I was told it only needed freon. I found out later that there was a leak and it is $1200. A week after that the car would not start the dealer picked the car up and said that the battery was dead because I left the radio on, it has happened over 30 times, not true there is something wrong. I have replaced tires at least six times. Tires completely separate. I was driving and car slowed down on freeway and I was almost hit, I pulled over and it stopped and did it again and I had to push the traction control button, almost cost me my life! it now happens when I hit a bump. When I turn the car makes a extremely loud noise, (embarrassing) I was told it is a ball joint and can catch on fire. Engine light has always been on and is now blinking and the car shakes and hesitates. I had to pay to get the brakes fixed 2 months after purchasing. Radio turns on for no reason and runs battery down. I was told I have two leaks in my shocks and it is $1800 each. When I back up and turn the steering wheel vibrates. I can't even use the cigarette lighter to charge my cell because it does not work and has been replaced twice. The remote just stop working and I was charged $100 to reconfigure. The brakes act funny, can't even explain it. This car is unreal, a complete piece of junk. I can't even remember half the stuff I have endured and the money I have spent. It was January 1, 2006 when this steering wheel vibrate issue occurred.
