car   Front Suspension Leaf Spring problem of GMC Sierra 1500

The car was a 2006 GMC Sierra 1500. Suspension made a 'thunking' noise while driving over bumps. I took it into the dealer and was told the r. Rear tensioner leaf spring worn or was worn and needed replacement. I never got a straight answer as to why, bad metal or what? I've never towed anything and have never had any heavy loads in the bed causing over compression of the leaf springs. Truck has always seemed to lean to one side and looks lower than factory height. Dealer fixed under warranty. It now seems to be making a similar noise but from the front suspension area while driving over speed bumps and into driveways. I have to verify this and get it back into the dealership for more work. . . And try to get answers. It was Saturday, February 17, 2007 when this front suspension leaf spring issue occurred.

car   Front Suspension Leaf Spring problem of Jeep Wrangler

Hi, apparently my situation isn't unique, I have a 2005 Jeep Wrangler unlimited with less than 70k miles. At about 50mph it starts shaking violently, this has happened to me at least 5 times since I've owned this Jeep, about 2 1/2 months. I took it to the tire shop and they inspected the tie-rod ends and found no problem. It was shaking so bad I thought that surely my front end was coming apart so, I googled my problem and was led to a plethora of information and found the term "death wobble", I thought it felt like driving over railroad tracks, but death wobble seems to also be an appropriate term as well, because the front end seems to be shaking to death. I, like so many others, went to kevin's off road, kor, website and read about the potential causes and cures. In my particular case there hasn't been any aftermarket modifications, it's as stock as they come. Anyway, kevin's recommended solution to my "wobble" is to replace the track bar, the steering damper, control arms and bushings. The cost for this is around $366 for the parts and I'm not sure what the labor costs will be. It seems to me that maybe someone at Chrysler should actually go drive one before they say "it's not our fault". They should be part of the solution since they created the problem. My 1989 Jeep doesn't have this problem, leaf springs vs. Independent coil springs, perhaps,. . . A smoother ride but at what cost? $366 plus labor for me. Can you please help apply pressure to Chrysler to make this right? thanks for your time and interest. This issue happened on Jun. 27, 2013.

car   Front Suspension Leaf Spring problem of Toyota Tundra

The vehicle having this issue was a 2000 Toyota Tundra. The VIN of the car is 5TBBT4417Y_. Truck failed annual inspection due to extreme rust of frame and cross members to the point of frame perforation and imminent failure. Frame directly under driver's seat rusted through where it joins the cross member under the transmission. Frame in front of passenger rear tire extremely rusted where it joins the cross member. The inspector stated this was a more imminent concern than the rusted through portion under the driver because it had a good chance of breaking with the next pothole. Leaf springs for drivers rear tire also extremely rusted. Rear differential housing rusted through on the top with oil leaking out. Exhaust heat shields and hangers rusted away completely. There was no mention of the rear cross member over the spare tire or the gas tank straps being an issue. They could be but were not the imminent concern at this point. I had just replaced the radiator/transmission cooler due to rusting through and anti-freeze entering the transmission and transmission fluid in the cooling system. There were other issues that are apparently common with the Tundra - leaking/cracked manifolds, etc. The truck is at the local dealer pending repair. Technician stated it was the worst case of undercarriage rust he had seen. This front suspension leaf spring issue occurred Friday, February 14, 2014.
