car   Rear Suspension problem of Chevrolet Impala

The vehicle involved is a 2008 Chevrolet Impala. I own a 2008 chevy Impala and have had extensive work don on the car to reapir the alignment of my rear tires. I first noticed the issue when after roughly 7000 miles I took my car in to have the tires rotated and I was informed that my rear tires had the steel belts showing. This was a shock because I had purchased 80000 mile tires. I then took my car to my local mechanic who fixed the problem to the best of his ability and this plus the cost of the tire ran me roughly 1000 dollars. Prior to me getting the car in to the shop I had noticed extremly poor handling in the snow, bassicly it felt as if the rear of the car was constantly slidding out. car   Rear Suspension problem of Acura TL

My 2005 Acura Tl el42 bridgestone rear tires went completely bald on a 3000 mile trip(19000 miles total) from dallas to colorado and back. It appears that there is a suspension/tire problem where the rear alignment under full load of 2 passangers and luggage in the trunk degrades and causes severe tire wear. This causes severe loss of control on wet pavement with rear hydroplaning at even <50 mph. Acura has a TSB and replace tires at lowered cost but only with the suspect el42 tires. After further internet searches this seem not to be isolated incident. It was July 9, 2006 when this rear suspension issue occurred.

I had taken my vehicle to a certified Honda dealer to address the recall mentioned above, and at that time they applied an anti-corrosive coating to these affected parts. This solution did not seem to work. At the time, some owners of the make, model and year of this vehicle had their vehicles bought back by the manufacturer. car   Rear Suspension problem of Infiniti QX56

The car involved was a 2010 Infiniti Qx56. The VIN of the car is 5N3ZA0NC8A_. A fault code gets set and deactivates the rear air leveling suspension. When that happens, no air to the air shocks and it bottoms out. Supposedly, only the dealer can reset it. A real problem when towing a trailer. And even worse, there is no driver alert when it happens or after it has happened -- you just loose your rear suspension. Very dangerous. This has happened 3 times for me in the last 3 weeks -- each time I have towed a trailer I need to take it back to the dealer to have it reset. They tried to replace the air pump, but that did not work. The dealer initially blamed an over loaded trailer -- but the trailer was weighed and shown not to be overloaded. My complaint has to do with the fact that the suspension is intentionally completely deactivated by this fault code and their are no warnings provided that it is deactivated. This problem occurred on Sunday, January 10, 2010.

The vehicle was a 2006 Land Rover Range Rover Sport. Driving on the freeway and my car came to a complete stop. The rear suspension dropped to the ground with no warning or no apparent reason. car   Rear Suspension problem of Subaru Outback

The vehicle involved is a 2001 Subaru Outback. Vehicle identification number (VIN): 4S3BH68601_. My vehicle was included in NHTSA campaign 03v153000, which resulted in manufacturer recall wwm96-rear. This recall was performed on my vehicle on 4/13/2004 at 36,339 miles with the intended purpose of halting premature rust-out of the rear sub-frame component. In the process of recently replacing exhaust components at approximately 130,000 miles it was noted that the rear sub-frame component is now perforated by rust even though similar components are not, which would seem to indicate that the original repair was not adequate. An exchange of emails and telephone calls with Subaru of America has resulted in a decision by them to decline repair or replacement of the component at their expense due to the age of the vehicle. The only remedy offered was a $500 credit toward the purchase of a new Subaru. Since replacement is not an option for me at this time I have no choice but to continue operating the vehicle in its current condition. My safety concern is that in operating the vehicle to what I consider a reasonable point (200,000 miles), the consequence noted in campaign 03v153000 may occur. I have pictures of the sub-frame component and copies of the email exchange with Subaru of America which I can send to you if you so desire. This rear suspension issue occurred Friday, April 20, 2012.

At very rare occasions bright lightt will not come on during the night, vehicle pulls to right, dome light comes on and turns off while door is open. . . Dealership stated they could not find anything wrong, both times when taken in. . . . . . . . . . . . . . Now2008. After warranty is no longer. Took vehicle to firestone. The mechanic stated rotors, brakes, caliper, bearings, shocks have all need to be replaced. Due to failure of parts and the amount of miles plus the year some of the parts should not be in this shape. The repairs should have been done a long time ago. I never let my oil mechanic look at my vehicle in fear of losing my warranty but now this would have been taken care of if the dealership would have been honest with me now I have to find away to come up with $1600. 00 just to keep me safe while seeing patient's in there homes. . . I have ran off in a ditch due to brake failure. To stop me from hitting a car. Stop fast on dirt road to avoid hitting a deer and my brakes would not work until the pedal hit the firewall . This is not right and the Suzuki company should have to look into the problem and make repairs. . As for me I drive slower then the speed limit and stay away from other cars as much as possible. . . I do not care if I receive any help in this matter. . . But someone needs to know there is a problem with the entire brake system starting with the shocks all the way to the bearings. car   Rear Suspension problem of Volkswagen Jetta

The vehicle involved is a 2000 Volkswagen Jetta. This car has literally come unscrewed since I purchased it 2. 5 years ago-parts inside and out! most recently the axle "came unscrewed" for no reason and the bolts snapped. The windows have malfunctioned and the rear suspension had to be screwed back together shortly after I bought it. The plastic covering underneath also fell off for no reason-also while I was driving. The windshield wipers have come unscrewed twice and ceased to function once on the highway at high speed during a rain storm. The glove compartment and cup holders have all fallen out. I bought this car new 2 1/2 years ago and I know fear for my life every time I get into it. I have reported this to both the dealer and to Volkswagen. Neither have expressed any concern whatsoever. Dt. This issue happened on Sun., Jul. 1, 2001.

The shop replacing the bearing stated they had had a huge increase in Volvo awd rear bearings of late. Models from '02 through 07 with mileage of 40-90,000 being abnormally affected. Had the bearing been allowed to get worse, there could have been deaths. Ever seen a wheel fall off at 60 mph?. It was Thursday, Feb. 7, 2008 when this rear suspension issue occurred.

car   Rear Suspension problem of Audi RS6

The vehicle is a 2003 Audi Rs6. I was driving the vehicle for a family vacation to nashville TN from milwaukee, and I started to notice that the rear suspension was very bouncy. I thought it may have been due to the extra weight of the luggage in the trunk, but as the vacation went on, the bounce got worse. By the time we were headed back to milwaukee, the bounce was so bad, that the car would lose control while going over rough highway. We took the car into the dealership for repairs, and were told that the suspension system had a leak in one of the rear shocks. However, because of the way that the system is designed, all four of the shocks have to be replaced in order to balance the pressure in each absorber. My car was out of service for 2 weeks, and the first time it was repaired, the mechanic stated that he did not have any training on how to fix the system. He did an admirable job, but the ride has not been the same since. The mechanic has since received training, and had to re-pressurize and replace all four shocks again. The second time the mechanic made repairs the system was better, but now the car is due for another repair on the rear suspension this week. It seems that this system is prone to leak fluid, which helps it maintain the proper pressure on all four wheels. I am worried that when my warranty is expired, I will have to replace this suspension system again, and it will be very expensive, or there will be a terrible car accident due to lack of control over rough highways. This rear suspension problem happened on Wednesday, March 17, 2004.
