car   Power Steering Linkages Drag problem of Dodge Stratus

The vehicle involved was a 2001 Dodge Stratus. There was a complaint I just read by mr kevin gilmore odi cse number 769552, and I agree with him about this complaint be handled as a top prioroty investigation. I bought this as a used car, I knew I'd end of having to put some money into it since I was not buying a brand new car. But I've only had it for 6 months and have to put quite of bit into it. It has 59,000 miles on it. I've had to get the upper and lower ball joints replaced. A month later we heard a noise when we steered. We added power steering fluid cause we noticed it was low. Only two days after we heard the noise which got louder was hard to steer. I drive my two young kids with this car and felt unsafe in it. A friend of ours who is a mechanic looked at it and said there was a leak since the fluid was almost emty again. I was told it was power steering line. It was rubing against the a/c line which is metal and wore a hole in the line. My mechanic said this line was in back order (obviously in high demand). When he finally got it in, seems like Dodge has made some changes on the design. This was my first Dodge vehicle I had purchased and first used vehicle also. Because of this, this will be the last for Dodge and used. I agree with mr gilmore. This needs to be investigated thoroughly before someone gets seriously injured. Again my car has only 58,000 miles on it and should not be having such serious failures. Thank you, rosy & ray. This power steering linkages drag issue occurred 03/03/2005.

car   Power Steering Linkages Drag problem of Ford Explorer Sport Trac

The vehicle is a 2001 Ford Explorer Sport Trac. The vehicle identification number (VIN) of the car was 1FMZU67EX1_. Since the purchase of my Ford exploer sport trac in Dec, 2000, I have dealt with a steering shudder. I have had 3 different types of tires on the vehicle and all exhibited this problem. I took the vehicle to a Ford dealer during the warranty period, but they were not sure of the cause. Today I called Ford and they are shifting the burden of the necessary repair to me despite that I brought this up at least twice during the warranty period. I think this is a safety issue and it is especially bad on wet surfaces. I think the repair should be done as a recall and not burden the consumer especially when it was brought to the Ford dealer's attention during the warranty period. There is a technical bulletin out that describes the problem I have with my vehicle. It can affect the ability to control the vehicle especially when turning on wet pavement. It was July 28, 2004 when this power steering linkages drag issue happened.

This car has never been in a collision or any major trama to have anything torn, it only has 66,000 miles on it, yet ive had to replace the crank shaft, last week the entire computer, 2 years ago the entire engine fell to the ground (my land lord discovered) and now the steering.
