car Tire Bubble problem of Chevrolet Impala

The vehicle was a 2011 Chevrolet Impala. All 4 tires showed tread separation with mileage between 34000 and 49000 miles. The tread bubbled up on the inside tread edge of all tires. I had 3 flat tires due to this defect. Goodyear only offered what they called "good will" replacement at about half price. I paid to have the first 2 replace on 02/16/2013 and 11/04/2013. Both of these tires went down after highway driving. On 11/19/2013 I rotated the tires and noticed the remaining 2 original tires were showing signs of separation on the inside edge of the tread. Contacted goodyear and they would only discount them by half after having 4 out of 4 tires go bad. I left the goodyear store and am having 4 michelin tires put on. I think goodyear should refund me what the first 2 tires cost me and they can have them back. I don't think these tires should be on the road they are not safe. The failure date was Wed., Nov. 20, 2013.

The tread was good on all tires replaced. The failure date was Thursday, September 8, 2011.

car Tire Bubble problem of Ford Focus

The car is a 2000 Ford Focus. The vehicle identification number (VIN) is 1FAFP34P0Y_. Complaint againt general altimax rt tires, size 195/60r15. Extreamly large bubbles in sidewalls in 3 out of 4 tires on our 2000 Ford Focus. I just purchased the 2 front tires 4/2/2014 and the back 2 tires July 2013. . 1 tire, right rear went flat the other day, found large hole in sidewall of tire, it apeared nothing had puntured the tire. I did not think nothing of it at 1st. Took car to Ford dealer to have tire repaced, which they did. While at the Ford dealer, they point out large bubbles in the sidewalls of both front tires, those 2 tires were just purchased a little more than 1 month ago and only driven 2870 miles. I called geneal tire company and they said to contact the seller of the tire, tire seller says to see the tire company to get addressed. The tire bubbles are very large and a dangerous condition, these tires could explode at any time, the car could not be driven with these tires. I just purchased 2 tires of a different brand for the front of the car, while I fight with general tire company. I worked as a technician for a Ford dealer for over 20 years, as my prior profession. I have never seen tires for huge bubbles like these general tires. These general tires are safety hazzard and should be recalled and I would not recommend them to anyone. I will never buy general tires again. It was Thursday, May 15, 2014 when this tire bubble issue happened.

car Tire Bubble problem of Ford F-350

The vehicle involved was a 2011 Ford F-350 sd. I have a 2011 Ford f350 that came with michelin ltx a/t2 - lt275/65r 20 tires. It has just over 28,000 miles, has only been serviced by a Ford dealer, with each service report indicating no problems with respect to tire issues. Traveling on the freeway I experienced a shaking in the front end like a wheel had thrown a weight. Pulling off the road I discovered a tread separation bubble approximately 12-13" long on the outer portion of a front tire. After changing to the spare we continued that day's driving. The next drive in the truck was towing our 5th wheel home and I again experienced the same shaking. I pulled over again and found the other front tire had separated in the same manner and size bubble. The two separations occurred within 300 miles of each other. It was only my recognition of the vibrations in the steering wheel that alerted me to pull over to inspect the tires before they blew out catastrophically. A catastrophic tire failure under normal circumstances is difficult enough, but while towing is an imminently greater hazard. I found the closest Ford dealership and had to purchase two new tires to get home. Once there I went to my Ford dealer and told them I wanted the other two tires off the truck before they failed. They have contacted michelin on my behalf and as yet I have not heard back from them, although it's only been a week. I hope michelin steps up and replaces all four tires. The only other piece of information that may be a contributing factor is that although the tires are warranted for 60,000k miles, they were worn to (7/32-5/32-10/32) on the bubble, 180 degrees (7/32-5/32-9/32) on one tire and (8/32-7/32-10/32) and 180 degrees across (10/32-7/32-10/32) on the other. I filed this report because I see that michelin has had a very similar problem with their ltx m/s2 tire and has or is conducting a voluntary recall. This tire is so similar to the a/t that I have to wonder if it's just a different tread pattern on the same tire carcass. This problem occurred on Apr. 18, 2014.

car Tire Bubble problem of GMC Terrain

VIN of the vehicle was 2GKFLVEK8D_. A second michelin latitude tour tire on 2013 GMC Terrain (purchased new in may 2013) had repetitive low tire pressure showing on the tpms. After 1 week of inflating to spec pressure and only have it happen again, removed the wheel and tire to inspect for an embedded object (e. G. Nail) in the entire tread area and sidewall. Nothing visible. Replaced and inflated to spec again. 2 days later low pressure again. Removed the wheel/tire from the vehicle again and mixed a soap solution to inspect the tread area for a leak. After thoroughly inspecting the entire tread area twice, noticed a slow leak bubbling on the sidewall at the tread-sidewall interface (tire mold seam?). Probed the leak site for embedded glass or object and found nothing representative of a road hazard event except the air leak in the sidewall. Plugged the leak with a tire plug to show location and took it to the dealer. A tire with leak in the sidewall even plugged is too dangerous to drive on. I am waiting for a new tire. It was Thursday, November 28, 2013 when this tire bubble issue happened.

car Tire Bubble problem of Honda Insight

My Honda Insight came new with the dunlop sp 31a tire. I do not do extreme, hard cornering or race driving, this is simple a commuter vehicle. There was about 3/32 to 2/32 of an inch of tread left, on all four tires. On 7/25/12 I drove to the store and noticed the driver side front tire had a defect. The tread had separated from the tire on both the inside and outside of the tire but was still loosely connected in the middle. I took my vehicle to a tire store to replace all four tires. I felt very unsafe with the dunlop tires so I replaced all four, fearing this would happen at a high speed and the results could be fatal. (the defective tires are not available) I did some research about people that have this same size tire, on the same vehicle (Honda Insight). I noticed several issues of a similar nature. For example, tread separation, fast wear, cracking and bubbling. It seems to me that there could be a major issue with these tires that could jeopardize the safety of several people. This problem occurred on July 25, 2012.

car Tire Bubble problem of Infiniti M35

The vehicle having this issue was a 2010 Infiniti M35. My leased 2010 infinity with 245-45-rsa 18" tires installed. In 14000 miles tires have suffered 3 low profile tires with sidewall damage due to striking potholes requiring replacement. Having driven 60yrs and over 900,000 miles experienced only one tire sidewall damage with bubble/rupture in all that time. Having been involved in auto racing my driving skills are better than the average driver. I avoid as much as possible pot holes but it is inevitible to contact some. I also try to slow down as safety permits so as to have a lower impact on said pot holes. Still 3ea. Tires in 14000 miles are due to the "low profile tire design" the shallow aspect ratio is the culprit. As a faa licensed aircraft & engine mechanic and faa licensed private pilot I am quite familiar with a walk a round necessary before a aircraft is flown,I also apply this to the tires on my vehicle. If there is a bubble or sidewall damage the potential for a "blowout" on the highway at speed with one's self , friends or family for injury or death due to a tire blowout exists. My opinion is that low profile should be sold only on lighter weight sports cars and in area's of the country where potholes are not seen. In other words warmer climates can have low profile tires and colder climate area's . Should not unless requested by the drivers of cars that may be equipped with these tires on a requested basis. Please look into this all to common problem as the tire manufacturers make money replacing these tires as do the new car dealers as the retailer of these dangerous tires. I shopped for the last tire replaced at my expense and three tire retailers stated they replace a abnormal amount of these tires due to the same reason. This problem occurred on 11/03/11.

A few months later the left rear inner sidewall blew out in two places like a bursting bubble. Replaced with new tire by dealer. 2nd failure) noticed bubble on drivers side front tire while shopping 45 minutes from home. Called roadside service to put on spare and when home, went to dealer who replaced with a new tire. 3rd failure) 2 hours from home, stopped for gas and noticed drivers side front tire with bubble in sidewall. This was the new replacement for the 2nd failure. Put on spare and drove home. That night we had our 4th failure - blowout) the passenger side rear tire blew out during the night. 3 of the tires were 2 seasons old, the 4th was a brand new replacement tire for one of the earlier failures. In all cases we were given brand new replacement tires of the same brand and model. We were fortunate and not driving when the blowouts happened. This all happened between mid November and December 16th 2012. All blown and defective tires have been returned to dealer and we do not have access to the dot number. It was December 15, 2012 when this tire bubble issue occurred.

car Tire Bubble problem of Toyota Camry

I bought a used 2009 Toyota Camry that the dealer had installed new general altimax hp tires on, size p215/60r16. After about 45 miles of driving the tpms light came on and I found the front driver side tire down to 18psi. While putting air in the tire I noticed a large bubble in the sidewall. I put the spare on and returned to the dealer who replaced the tire at no cost to me, saying it was defective. Today, I went to have my tires rotated and the tech told me he could not touch the passenger front tire as it had a huge bubble in the sidewall. This tire has a total of about 14,000 miles on it. The bubble is about one third of the entire circumference of the tire. Upon closer inspection also found a smaller sidewall bubble forming on driver side rear tire. These tires must all have defects. I will have to replace all tires as it is unsafe to drive with tires that could blowout at any moment. This tire bubble problem happened on 05/20/14.

car Tire Bubble problem of Volvo V70

The car involved is a 2002 Volvo V70. Problem - sidewall bubbling on tires within the first 5-1/2 months of owning my new Volvo station wagon, I had to replace 2 pirelli tires due to sidewall bubbling. 5 months later, with 12,000 miles on the car, one of those brand new tires has to be replaced again due to the same issue. My main complaint is that Volvo recommended these tires to me despite the fact that I indicated that I live in redding, CT, primarily drive on back roads, and that my main reason for buying the car was safety. They told me I was better off with "high performance tires". I've contacted Volvo and they refused to accept any responsibility or do anything to help. They told me that I must have hit a pothole so the damage was my fault but in 18 years of driving on the same roads that I've been driving my Volvo on, I have never had to replace tires for any other reason than normal wear and tear. And since the problems with all 3 tires occurred at separate times, it seems apparent that these tires are not appropriate for the local driving conditions. Luckily, this has not yet resulted in an accident, but due to the fact that I spend a lot of my driving time shuttling my small children around, I'm afraid to drive the car for fear that the tires will blow out. I'd appreciate any help you might be able to provide since I am very concerned about safety. It was Tuesday, Apr. 15, 2003 when this tire bubble issue occurred.

car Tire Bubble problem of Volvo S80

The vehicle is a 1999 Volvo S80. On April 13, 2010 I was told by the salesman that the yokohama tire is as good as the michelin tires that I had on my car. (1 of my michelin tires was showing steel belts, apparently from spinning my tires trying to get out of the snow on my gravel driveway this past Mar 2010. ) since the michelins were nearly 4 years old and the salesman said the sidewalls were rotting, on Apr 13, 2010, I purchased 4 yokahama tires. On Apr 17, 2010, I visited friends in rehoboth beach area of DE and while prkg at the grocery store I hit a curb/prkg stop while prkg. The speed of travel at the time was at a coast since I had my foot on the brake at the time. The impact was so slight neither I nor my pass. Was prompted to inspect the tire. After a normal wknd of driving through town and then returning to my home in lexington, va. , I noticed the bubble in the sidewall of the right front tire. There was no impact mark on the tire that I could see that would cause me to think that I had hit something sharp. The salesman who sold me the tire pointed to a spot on the bubble( I could not discern the mark) with a pen point and said that there is a mark on the tire and it seems that the bubble was caused by hitting something sharp. Now, I do not contend that I did not hit a pkng/curb stop. . . I contend it was of no great speed at impact. I contend that this tire may be unsafe; especially if it had failed during my 450-mile drive home from DE. The salesman said, "well, if you hit it at just the right way, it will damage the tire. " ( I think my old michelin tires would have faired better and I promptly replaced the yokohama with michelins. I feel safer but feel this needs to be reported. There was no blemish, yet the sidewall inside the tire was jaggedly ripped approx. 1-inch in length. Case # yokohama [xxx] claim adjustment no. [xxx] purchased from terry's tire town, henrico, va 23222 through lexington express lube, lexington, va. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6). car Tire Bubble problem of Cadillac CTS

Less than a year ago we purchased our 2005 Cadillac Cts from Cadillac of turnersville, NJ. I just recently noticed a shimmy while driving and decided to inspect the tires and found that both front tires have a large bubble in the outer sidewall. The tires are goodyear / eagle rs-a p225/55r16 94h. I looked online and noticed a large recall on goodyear / eagle rs-a tires with sidewall failure noted and would like to now report the issue with ours and see what we need to do to have the tires recalled and replaced as soon as possible, as I am not able to safely drive the car until we replace them. We have a newborn son and get very nervous at the thought of what could have happened if I hadn't paid the close attention to the mild shimmy as soon as I did. Please help. Thank you, your assistance in this matter is much appreciated. This problem occurred on Tue., Mar. 30, 2010.

car Tire Bubble problem of Jaguar X-type

The vehicle was a 2004 Jaguar X-type. I bought my car in October 2008. About a month later I noticed the tire pressure was lost frequently. I took it back to the dealer and they changed all four tires for free, stating that the tire had some rotting caused by sitting to long. Not long after I noticed the same problem and bubbles started to form on both my from tires but the dealer said it was my fault for hitting potholes and curbs. I had to purchase to additional tires on my own. The remaining two that I got from the dealer when rotated to the front, again, formed bubbles. Again I had to replace them. I spoke to a technician and explained the problem that had ben occurring. I also stated I had been more careful about my driving and had not hit the curb. He told me that there were many complains about that tire brand and they damaged very easily. It was Sat., Dec. 20, 2008 when this tire bubble issue happened.
